We were greeted by the director. We received a brief condolence and was given a quick tour. Then the director became a salesman. Showing off his newly renovated bathrooms, his dreary visitation room with dark drapes and his room for catering room. We sat down to talk about arrangements and was handed a packet of PACKAGES. We could only eliminate 2 items from the package would be invalid. He was sure we wanted the Portrait of our loved one, after refusing it 3 previous times. He pushed the catering , which we said we probably would not be doing. He said it would take 7-10 days to have our loved one cremated, as the body would have to be sent out to a crematory. He said he was off to a golf vacation and no decisions could be made until he returned. I asked for another name should we need something while he was away. He was hesitant, but gave us an assistant. As he walked us out, he said we really would want the caterer as the chicken salad sandwiches are really good. We got in our car and we're stunned. We felt like we had just booked a cruise, not started to prepare our loved ones funeral. We did have the need to call Woody for questions over the next week. The staff was rude, had NO compassion , was put out that we had questions. We needed our loved one transported and they lied about the time our loved one was picked up. Said transport was on the way, when they didn't pick up our loved one for several hours later. We were distraught over the death of our loved one and woody of Huguenot increased our stress. Everyone at Woody at Huguenot have lost their compassion, it is a Buisness for them. They all have obviously been in the Buisness too long and should be replaced. A one star is too high a rating.

Then they lost his ashes. Told my husband they would call when they located him, but did they call ? No. Of course not. We had to hound them. We told them he was being buried out of state in Illinois and needed a burial certificate, and they said we didn't. Okay, we drive two days to Illinois for the funeral, and we can't bury him without a burial certificate. Woody's tries to pretend they didn't know about it. We have to postpone the funeral because Woody's can't get a certificate faxed to the cemetery in time. WTH?

Its 2004 opening provided a military cemetery for the huge military community that chose to retire in Coastal Virginia. The cemetery is one of a number of regional cemeteries run by the Virginia Department of Veterans Services, Eligible Veterans receive one free burial site & USDVA provided outer burial receptions/crypts & headstones. Should a veterans's wife predecease him, the headstone is inscribed with her information facing forward. When the veteran dies his information is inserted on the opposite side and the headstone rotated so his information faces the front, My Uncle had originally planned to be buried at Arlington. After his wife died, the funeral director mentioned Albert Horton. When we left my Uncle asked what I thought. We both had individually felt that it would be a place where we could more easily visit her. We toured the next day. Even the drive down Milners Road is picturesque. The cemetery itself was clean, new and beautifully laid out. The staff was friendly. The decision was made. At that time word of the beautiful Veterans Cemetery had not yet widely spread. She received a convenient plot near the drive through and near a bench. There appeared to be space for burials for many years. That hasn't been the case. The Cemetery filled over the years and has been expanded. When my Uncle died I had my first experience with the Pavilion, which is used to provide a military graveyard service with Honor Guard. It was a moving experience for the man I considered my second father. The Honor Guard was a special final recognition for the retired Naval Commander, buried in his uniform, who had served in WWII, Korean & Vietnam. Albert Horton Veterans Cemetery continues to serve as a valued source for a final resting place for those who have served our country. Wreaths across America places gorgeous holiday wreaths on each grave. The Horton Wreath Society places wreaths on military holidays. Contributions can be made and are encouraged. Whether the burial be a traditional plot with stone, a columbarium or in ground urn, there is no cost for those Veterans who qualify. Thank you to the Virginia Department of Veterans Services. Virginia Veterans Cemeteries are such a valued contribution provided to our Veterans.

This is my honest & un-bias review of the treatment, service, and support both me and my family…read morereceived after entrusting you to perform the funeral services of our loved ones. Obituary/biography - Established in 1979 and current estimates show this company has an annual revenue of $253,728 a year and employs a staff of approximately 3. The Robert Mealy's Funeral Home situated in Goochland County I once knew very well many years ago took great care & pride in their business, the deceased, grieving families, and their repetition This establishment made their local community undoubtedly not only WANT but highly recommend their services as a funeral home provider. Your sincere love and dedication to your choice of career "back then" so beautifully & elegantly spoke up for itself. The "Mrs" Of the establishment was so comforting, respectful & humble and The "Mister" was well respected and carried himself with such prestige. When I say ALL of the above characteristics, experience, qualities, and respect have been lost, it's a very, very disheartening situation. As a mortician, you will witness families in their most vulnerable, raw, and uncut emotional state, and sometimes it isn't pretty. It isn't your job or duty to belittle make fun or gossip about your clients. That is where you must have understanding and compassion, not hate and envy. I would much rather you refuse a body than accept it, be negligent, disrespectful, unhelpful, and completely unprofessional with the surviving family and their deceased love ones remains. I honestly do not know who any of you are anymore, and it's sad to see the once successful Robert Mealy's Funeral Home transition into this diminished, self-serving, rude, careless establishment. I'm extremely disappointed with not only your current quality of services but also your decline in character, morals, and business standards. My recommendation is to any future families considering this home - foremost my condolences to you through this time . Secondly, I highly suggest you continue your search. Your deceased deserves better, and so do you ‍ Be blessed
