Came to eat at Benny's again when we were down visiting post-summer. Had another great experience! This time, our server was Adrian. He was friendly and attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. I had the Sumac Seared Scallops and hubby had the Halibut special. We really enjoyed our meals. We also shared a piece of Keylime cheesecake for dessert, which was amazing. We took a walk out back after our meal. They have several lawn games and a ping-pong table as well as some sofas. What a great place to hang out! FINALLY - a great restaurant on HHI has been added; what a treat. FOOD: we had oysters (great although horseradish was not hot), and split the swordfish - both were EXCELLENT. I was very impressed at how unexpectedly delicious our selections were. It being unexpected has noting to do with the Benny's, but more to do with HHI Restaurants being notoriously bad, and Benny's is punching way above its weight and is a bright shining star. I had a bite of my sister-in-law's seafood stew, and wowwww - they were right with saying that is the best thing on the menu. Also sampled my mother-in-law's skillet shrimp and was so impressed. SERVICE: we had a large party with 2 small children and Audra was so helpful, patient, and attentive. Thank you, Audra! A local resident recommended this restaurant to us. It was our first time. The restaurant is spacious and modern. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. We had reservations for inside because we didn't want to risk the weather. We were seated next to the window with a view of the outside dining and Calibogue Sound. They were very busy, but the service was good. We shared a hush puppy appetizer and a green salad as appetizers. The hush puppies were large and came with whipped butter. For our entrees, we had scallops and grouper. The scallops came with risotto and asparagus. The grouper was served with new potatoes and baby carrots. This place is aesthetically beautiful with great sunset views but overall it was our least favorite place at Hilton Head. We arrived around 5 o'clock. There was plenty of outdoor seating but they said there wasn't any. The inside of the restaurant was freezing. I had to go out to the car and get a jacket. I kept having to walk outside to defrost. We told the server multiple times we wanted to have drinks before we ordered, but he kept asking so it felt rushed. The palmetto Paloma & blackberry smash both tasted good, but very very weak so we did not bother ordering a second cocktail since it's flavored water. The scallop appetizer was $17 and only had two very small scallops and then two pieces of pork belly. It was all tender and tasted good but very tiny for the price & took a while to come out our steak came out faster! The steak was very flavorful, but there was a lot of gristle/fat on it. The truffle mashed potatoes were amazing. I just wish they gave you a little bit more. If this place had better cocktails, I would just say grab a cocktail and watch the sunset, but it doesn't even have that going for it so you can watch the same sunset at one of the restaurants a few minutes down the street for a lot cheaper read more

The reason for my maybe Is the hostess told us it would be a 45 min wait to an hour. My husband and I both felt she didn't want us there. We stayed and were seated in 10 minutes. Also they had so many tables when we were seated and plenty of wait staff there was no reason to have people waiting. It was very loud inside . The food here was actually some of the best I've had on the island. We typically go to some of the more common faves... Hudson's, Skullcreek, etc, but when I tell you how refreshing it is to have a new spot with great local fare & flavor, sign me up! The Brazilian influences are very prevalent here and I'm loving it. I've heard great things about the fish stew, but I just couldn't do it sitting outside. Props to another restaurant that prioritizes fun for the kiddos...bc there's nothing apparent once more on vacation than a moment of silence... and the occasional chance to whoop some little kid butt at a game before dinner. Order 2 baskets of hush puppies with your apps and two more at the end of your course. The combo of those pups & butter is nothing short of legendary... what a combo! Poorly ran resturant. The food was just fine. However, I'd expect more from a place with $20-$40 entrees. Multiple pieces of silverware and plates were dirty. Actually handed spoons with full leaves sticking off. How does the person not notice that? The bartender was the server for the whole bar area as well. She was doing her best but clearly not set up well. Plates never cleared, waters empty. Multiple bussing staff just standing around not helping. This is a beautiful fairly new dining establishment on Skull Creek on Hilton Head Island. So much to do and see here with patio seating, lawn seating, indoor seating all on the first floor. The upstairs (which we did not go to) has indoor and outdoor seating with tapas and a full bar. We opted for patio seating and were warmly greeted by a Negril, Jamaican native (Negril is where we went for our honeymoon 40 yrs ago) named Buddington. Hubby ordered picatta swordfish and it was lemony and tender which he loved just needed more capers. I ordered the seafood cannelloni and it was packed full of delicious crab and shrimp. We also had the hush puppies with chili butter which was way more than we two could eat all of, so we took most home. Service was excellent and friendly. Lot to do while waiting like corn hole, a swing, jenga, connect 4 and ping pong. Once we finished we took our wine and sat in the comfortable outdoor loveseat to enjoy the sunset. Their lunch menu was really impressive and I was blown away by how beautiful the space is. I decided on the hushpuppies to start, which came with Turkish chili honey butter. They were incredible! So tasty and the butter was delicious. For my entree, I ordered the Brazilian Fish Stew, which was made with coconut milk and had shrimp, clams, fish, scallops, peppers, onions, and a scoop of Carolina Gold rice. It was absolutely incredible! Such great flavors. I can't recommend Benny's Coastal Kitchen enough! Benny's delivered for all generations in my party. Wife reserved some upstairs eating for our party of 16. Benny's dedicated a server to us and she knocked it out of the park. Cocktails upstairs were great modest prices $10-14 depending, beers $6-8, and had some good appetizers. Go for the southwest egg rolls and bypass the baked oysters (sauce flavorless and onions cut to big). Live music was a plus. We had 70 yr olds, 40's, and kids under 15 who were all having fun and enjoying the sunset over the bayou. Then we went downstairs for dinner. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very classy and beautiful without being stuffy. We appreciate that they take reservations. Our server Landon was professional and personable. He answered all our questions and recommended the white wine special that we really enjoyed. We started with the Carpaccio and Pork Empanadas. I enjoyed the ribeye special and the rest of our party had fish and chicken dishes from the menu. All the food was delicious with some of the best prepared vegetables we have ever had in a restaurant. For dessert we shared a Key Lime Cheesecake which was perfect! Gorge made sure to bring us some awesome homemade cookies to go before we left. This place checks all the boxes for service, ambiance and food. My first time at BCK! The interior is lovely and overlooks the shrimp docks. Today was a rainy day, so no one was taking advantage of the outdoor patio area. I bet this place is hopping during the high season! Definitely make reservations. Maria was our server and she was delightful. Service pace was a little slow (kitchen too) but there were only three servers on and the dining room was filling up close to 1 pm. Our drink and appetizer orders were taken quickly. A booth of 5 women were seated next to us, and they must have known the manager, since he visited them and delivered bread service. Were werenever offered it. (A little bread service discrimination?). I'll know to ask next time. ;) Loved the flavor profile of the latkes, but we all agreed they needed some crunch--maybe panko crumb coating? The remoulade was delish! Upon my sister's suggestion, we had the Brazilian fish stew, which was amazing. Thank you for removing the shrimp tails! (#iykyk). My BIL enjoyed his crab cake Napoleon. We all shared the key lime cheesecake, which is to die for. I will spend my spare time at trying to replicate it at home! Walked in with my son for dinner about 40 min before close on a Tuesday evening. The ton was set as we walked to the host stand and three younger adults said welcome! We asked for a table for two and the all three just looked at each other, grinned and looked around, it was strange to say the least but after that everything was awesome. Went here for an early dinner with whole family, great place, very open and nice inside, can eat outside too, and there lounge seats and games outside as well. Food is spectacular, was pleasantly surprised, the family sized appetizer with all the seafood was very fresh, and enough for everyone to share. I ordered the fra Diavolo dish with no spice (I love spice but knew my wife would want some and she hates spice, so they made it with no black or red pepper). Let me tell you, one of the best dishes I've had in a long time! And the bread they give you in the dish, you can it or dip it, oh wow amazing! Eveyone at the table raved about their food. Only thing is that if your kids are looking for burgers, no burgers. We swapped them for chicken fingers and fries but just a heads up to the parents. They even have a salmon dish on the kids menu. Instead, my wife and some local friends visited the rooftop bar just before sunset which is a great time to be there. We had very good service along with some nice libations and apps. They are a bit pricey and I would suggest wearing business casual attire even though this is in the beachy area. There was a "one man band" playing who we thoroughly enjoyed listening to. I had the Naan Pizza/Flatbread which was very filling and yet very savory. They're part of the Coastal group which also owns several other local restaurants.
