This place is aesthetically beautiful with great sunset views but overall it was our least favorite place at Hilton Head. We arrived around 5 o'clock. There was plenty of outdoor seating but they said there wasn't any. The inside of the restaurant was freezing. I had to go out to the car and get a jacket. I kept having to walk outside to defrost. We told the server multiple times we wanted to have drinks before we ordered, but he kept asking so it felt rushed. The palmetto Paloma & blackberry smash both tasted good, but very very weak so we did not bother ordering a second cocktail since it's flavored water. The scallop appetizer was $17 and only had two very small scallops and then two pieces of pork belly. It was all tender and tasted good but very tiny for the price & took a while to come out our steak came out faster! The steak was very flavorful, but there was a lot of gristle/fat on it. The truffle mashed potatoes were amazing. I just wish they gave you a little bit more. If this place had better cocktails, I would just say grab a cocktail and watch the sunset, but it doesn't even have that going for it so you can watch the same sunset at one of the restaurants a few minutes down the street for a lot cheaper read more

This was recommended to us by a local. Very nice atmosphere on the water. I did make a raw warrior if though it was a Monday night. It was very busy. Food was delicious. I had the scallops with asparagus and lemon risotto, my daughter had the Spicy Seafood Stew and said it was good but not spicy. Husband had the Salmon with Green. Iffy and said it was really good. How the mighty have fallen! Ate here in October and it was so good that we came back the following night. Now it's humdrum bordering on "avoid." The food was decent though nothing special. My tile fish special was lukewarm and bland - same for the accompanying black rice. The oysters at $4 each were small and tasteless. We were seated at a table that hadn't been properly cleaned and required a major wipe down -ick. The men's room was disgusting. The food here was actually some of the best I've had on the island. We typically go to some of the more common faves... Hudson's, Skullcreek, etc, but when I tell you how refreshing it is to have a new spot with great local fare & flavor, sign me up! The Brazilian influences are very prevalent here and I'm loving it. Props to another restaurant that prioritizes fun for the kiddos...bc there's nothing apparent once more on vacation than a moment of silence... and the occasional chance to whoop some little kid butt at a game before dinner. Order 2 baskets of hush puppies with your apps and two more at the end of your course. The combo of those pups & butter is nothing short of legendary... what a combo! Beautiful restaurant on the water with delicious food and friendly staff! I came here on a weekday for lunch and was sat immediately. Their lunch menu was really impressive and I was blown away by how beautiful the space is. I decided on the hushpuppies to start, which came with Turkish chili honey butter. They were incredible! So tasty and the butter was delicious. For my entree, I ordered the Brazilian Fish Stew, which was made with coconut milk and had shrimp, clams, fish, scallops, peppers, onions, and a scoop of Carolina Gold rice. It was absolutely incredible! Such great flavors. I can't recommend Benny's Coastal Kitchen enough! We had a large party and made a late reservation so we were seated inside which was nice but not as lovely as one of the outdoor tables with the incredible views. This is a beautiful fairly new dining establishment on Skull Creek on Hilton Head Island. So much to do and see here with patio seating, lawn seating, indoor seating all on the first floor. The upstairs (which we did not go to) has indoor and outdoor seating with tapas and a full bar. We opted for patio seating and were warmly greeted by a Negril, Jamaican native (Negril is where we went for our honeymoon 40 yrs ago) named Buddington. Hubby ordered picatta swordfish and it was lemony and tender which he loved just needed more capers. I ordered the seafood cannelloni and it was packed full of delicious crab and shrimp. We also had the hush puppies with chili butter which was way more than we two could eat all of, so we took most home. Service was excellent and friendly. Lot to do while waiting like corn hole, a swing, jenga, connect 4 and ping pong. Once we finished we took our wine and sat in the comfortable outdoor loveseat to enjoy the sunset. Cocktails upstairs were great modest prices $10-14 depending, beers $6-8, and had some good appetizers. Go for the southwest egg rolls and bypass the baked oysters (sauce flavorless and onions cut to big). Live music was a plus. We had 70 yr olds, 40's, and kids under 15 who were all having fun and enjoying the sunset over the bayou. Then we went downstairs for dinner. Service pace was a little slow (kitchen too) but there were only three servers on and the dining room was filling up close to 1 pm. Our drink and appetizer orders were taken quickly. A booth of 5 women were seated next to us, and they must have known the manager, since he visited them and delivered bread service. Were werenever offered it. (A little bread service discrimination?). I'll know to ask next time. ;) Loved the flavor profile of the latkes, but we all agreed they needed some crunch--maybe panko crumb coating? The remoulade was delish! Upon my sister's suggestion, we had the Brazilian fish stew, which was amazing. Thank you for removing the shrimp tails! (#iykyk). My BIL enjoyed his crab cake Napoleon. We all shared the key lime cheesecake, which is to die for. I will spend my spare time at trying to replicate it at home! Walked in with my son for dinner about 40 min before close on a Tuesday evening. The ton was set as we walked to the host stand and three younger adults said welcome! We asked for a table for two and the all three just looked at each other, grinned and looked around, it was strange to say the least but after that everything was awesome. Went here for an early dinner with whole family, great place, very open and nice inside, can eat outside too, and there lounge seats and games outside as well. Food is spectacular, was pleasantly surprised, the family sized appetizer with all the seafood was very fresh, and enough for everyone to share. I ordered the fra Diavolo dish with no spice (I love spice but knew my wife would want some and she hates spice, so they made it with no black or red pepper). Let me tell you, one of the best dishes I've had in a long time! And the bread they give you in the dish, you can it or dip it, oh wow amazing! Eveyone at the table raved about their food. Only thing is that if your kids are looking for burgers, no burgers. We swapped them for chicken fingers and fries but just a heads up to the parents. They even have a salmon dish on the kids menu. Benny's We had passed on Benny's this spring hoping they would work out the kinks.... We like Benny's and now Benny's ranks in our top three Hilton Head restaurants. The property on Skull Creek features great sunset views. Investor Riley and associates have made some excellent decisions for this new property; Yes, Benny Hudson's seafood market has a new home adjacent to Benny's. Benny's offers several dining options. The Rooftop, opens late afternoon and evenings is a Tapas bar and the best views. The main level serves Sunday Brunch, lunch and dinner. The primary restaurant provides a large indoor dining area, a covered patio dining area, and tables in the grass turf nearly on Skull Creek; it is this area that we recommend. Darko, from Croatia, is our young server. We have previously toured Croatia, and Darko is interesting. Many restaurants offer a catch of the day, and many servers are clueless about the "catch." I send Darko to the kitchen to discover that corvina is the catch of the day. Corvina is one of the more mild varieties of fish. It has a slightly sweet, mellow flavor that can be lightly buttery tasting. The flesh is oily and tender which helps give corvina a rich, luxurious mouthfeel. I take great care to specify that corvina must NOT be overcooked, and Darko informs me that the chef knows how to prepare this dish. It requires about 30 seconds to overcook corvina, and the dish is overcooked. One can see this, and certainly taste this. Otherwise, the dining experience is delightful. The manager checks in to apologize; unfortunately, I have a Saturday noon appointment with Happy Valley. Bucks win 20-13. Several guests from Surfwatch have dined at Benny's several times last week, and we can see why. Because Hilton Head has so many dining options, we shall wait for spring break to revisit. Caveat: if one knows seafood, insist that the chef understand the order, and the server is the message taker. Do send the overcooked fish back. Yes, we highly recommend Benny's. read more

During my short trip to South Carolina, my boyfriend and I made it a point to come here twice during the time we had in Bluffton/Hilton Head because this place was new and also delicious. The first time we ever got to try Benny's was a lunch and it was delicious and fresh. The second time was even better as we got to experience the bar on the roof while waiting for our reservation in the dining room downstairs. Not only did we have great views from our seats at the far end of the bar, we had incredible drink service from the bartenders working who made sure we were always taken care of as they got busier. When we finally got to our reservation time, we quickly made our way downstairs where we were quickly shown to our booth. Our waitress was kind, attentive, and sensationally helpful. She recommended everything we ended up ordering for dinner, and we did not have a single regret. We both came to the conclusion that the beef carpaccio and the Brazilian fish stew were the stars of the night. While researching where to eat in Hilton head, I came across this restaurant and I was very excited to try it. My husband doesn't really love seafood so finding an option that had various options is what drew me towards the menu. The location of this restaurant was absolutely stunning being right on the water and being able to watch the sunset. My husband decided to go with the steak with the truffle potatoes and veggies on the side, and the steak was cooked to the perfect medium rare that he was looking for as for me I got the oysters Rockefeller gnocchi, which immediately caught my eye being a seafood fan. This was a flavor explosion that I have not tasted before, and I couldn't be happier that I went on a limb to try this dish. It was so delicious that I even saved some of it for a second meal the next day the oysters were fried perfectly and the gnocchi paired so well with the creamy sauce that the gnocchi was swimming in while we were too full for dessert. This is definitely a beautiful location that I cannot wait to go back to. read more
