    Lobster Benedict
    Summey F.

Brunch with my mom and dad! [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat outside even though it was pretty hot but the deck was really nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My dad ordered the breakfast plate and pancakes with blueberry compote. He enjoyed his meal but we both agreed the blueberry compote tasted funky. The pancakes without compote were yummy! My mom had an omelette and she really liked it as well. I had the lobster Benedict and wasn't a huge fan tbh. There were canned peach slices on it which was such a weird combo. I'm all for a crazy food combo but it just didn't work. I also need to stop doing seafood Benedict's... they just are not for me!!! The breakfast potatoes were good and the cornbread was too but Benedict was not :/ service was good and staff was attentive.

AHmazing! What a hidden gem in the strip mall where there's plenty of parking. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great interior design & vibe but make a reservation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had excellent service with our waitress and the person she was training. Food was phenomenal and they are flexible if you want to switch around sides. I wanted a dessert so bad but was too full! Next time for the espresso creme brûlée. Go and try Lulu Kitchen. You won't be disappointed.

Shrimp and Grits made with Worcestershire sauce. Not a good combination. Sauce was awful!

The sauces are too strong and over power the food. The shrimp and grits would have been good with no sauce instead of a bowl of Worcestershire. The menu said it had it in it, but did not expect it to taste like the whole bottle. Waitress was nice but slow and didn't refill drinks until end of dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restaurant was nice but would not go again.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Pork chop

My husband and I went to Lulu's for Valentine's dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a really cute restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We sat in a row of four tables, two people per table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The tables were really close together. I realize that the restaurant is very small and they need to get as many people in as possible, but it was a little too close for comfort being only a foot or two from the other guests[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We started with Moscow mule and Prosecco, which was delicious. We then had the coastal salad, which was fantastic. Lump crab meat, scallops, and shrimp. We shared that appetizer. I then had the salmon which was delicious. It was perfectly cooked and had great flavor. My husband had the pork chop, which was quite dry. We will give Lulu a try again during our next visit to Hilton Head in March. But we will pass on the pork chop and give something else a try. Most likely I'll order the salmon again.

Our family has been to Hilton Head 3x now and we've been to many restaurants, but THIS restaurant has been the absolute best one. Someone recommended Lulu and we are so happy they did. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance, the service and food were incredible.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Every spot I've eaten has been beyond subpar and lacking color. Lulu has so many fresh and fun options with many flavor options. We cannot wait to come back.

This is a hidden gem!! First of all, the name of the restaurant is named after the families dog, Lulu. As a dog lover I was sold before I ever walked in! But boy did they blow it out of the water with our meal, wow. The burrata was heaven sent, the fried chicken was blissful, and the souffle was the best I've ever had!!! I also love that a portion of their Lulu drink goes to help shelter dogs. The service was great, it was fast and fresh, and the ambiance on the porch was top notch so I recommend sitting out there!

Buratta with a lemon curd - fantastic!

While the grits themselves were cooked nicely and packed with cheese, the dish completely lacked pizzazz. There was no sauce or any other component to bring it together; it was quite literally a tiny piece of dry fish sitting on top of a helping of grits. The cheese arepa was just okay. Decently cheesy, but nothing particularly great. The takeout packaging was another disappointment. They used a Styrofoam container lined with paper. As you can imagine, the paper didn't stand a chance against wet grits; it broke apart completely, and I'm pretty sure I ended up ingesting some of it. A cardboard box would be a much better vessel since it doesn't require a paper lining (not to mention Styrofoam is terrible for both your health and the environment). I wouldn't recommend ordering these specific items, and I definitely wouldn't recommend getting takeout from here.

He said it was generally more of a local than a tourist place, though everyone is welcome. They share a large parking lot with a shopping plaza. It appears that there is a Publix going in soon. Also, some areas had signs about using a QR code to validate parking, but apparently those were not activated yet (and seemed unpopular with the staff). It was fairly crowded when we arrived (probably 9:30 a.m.). However, they apparently just expanded and took over the adjoining space (formerly a t-shirt shop). So though the 'original' booths and counter stools were mostly taken, there appeared to be open tables in the new space. Service was sort of tag-team; whoever walked by and noticed that you needed something tried to take care of it. That is in no way a complaint - it was an efficient system. We all ordered and had a short wait for the food, given the volume of customers. When it arrived, everyone liked their platters. I had a cheese omelet, bacon, and hash browns. All were quite tasty. The coffee was good too. Prices were reasonable. I'm not much of a 'breakfast out' person at home, but if I were on HHI for any period of time, I'd definitely go back here.

Somehow, we still waited 35 minutes just to be seated. After finally sitting down, we ordered immediately and then waited over 40 more minutes for food that wasn't even hot. To make matters worse, two of the orders were wrong. The pancakes came out with no syrup, and our server was basically nonexistent, only showing up twice in an hour, so we had to get up and get it ourselves. The poached eggs on the fourth meal were severely undercooked and practically raw. What made the experience even worse was having two young children with us who were completely melting down by the end because everything took so long. A restaurant should know better than to leave families sitting that long with no urgency, no communication, and no follow-up. What should have been a simple breakfast turned into a two-hour waste of time with bad service, poorly prepared food, and zero attention to detail. There is no excuse for this level of incompetence. I would absolutely not recommend this place.

The outside looks to be going through some renovation, but the interior looks like it's almost done. Open space, nice and fresh. You place your order at the counter (2 menus- one for dine in, one for take away) and they bring it to your table. We both ordered the chicken sandwich, one Nashville, one regular and made meals of it with tater tots and chips. We both had tea, though they had Coke products as well. The chicken was very freshly fried and delicious. Great taste. Both the tots and chips were also nice and crispy, plus piping hot. Couldn't ask for nicer or quicker service. We chatted with the owner/chef on our way out- couldn't have been nicer. Highly recommend and we'll be back to try other menu items (chicken dinners, shrimp and grits etc.). Plenty of 'southern' representation on the menu to choose from without being too greasy or over-the-top. This felt like home cooking in a trend forward atmosphere. Don't let the exterior discourage you from trying- you'll be glad you did.

Debbie and I stopped in about an hour before closing, not expecting much--just a quick bite. What we got instead was hands down one of the best seafood meals I've had in a long time. First off, we met the owner, Jim Scully--absolute legend. Friendly, genuine, and actually takes the time to sit and chat. You just don't see that anymore. Great conversation, great energy... set the tone right away. Now let's talk FOOD... * Fried oysters & shrimp - ridiculously good. Light, crispy, not greasy at all. You can tell everything is top quality. * Coleslaw - vinegar-based, shredded, and honestly reminded me of proper German kraut salad. Perfect balance with the seafood. * Soft shell crab... alright, this is where things got serious. "It was like a circus in my mouth... just an explosion of flavors." I'm not exaggerating. The texture was creamy, not oily, and the batter was just perfect. One of those bites where you just stop and look at each other like... yep, this is special. On top of that: * Everything is made with high-quality ingredients * Prices are very reasonable for what you're getting (honestly, some places charge double for worse) * BYOB (bring your own wine/beer = big win ) * Huge menu--seafood, ribs, BBQ, pulled pork, chicken, desserts... you name it Final verdict: (three thumbs up from Debbie & me) If you're in Hilton Head and even thinking about seafood--this is a hidden gem you don't want to miss. We'll 100% be back.

Extremely Disappointing Customer Service…read more I am very disappointed with the service I experienced at Hilton Head Café, as nearly every aspect of my visit was unprofessional and frustrating. Staff at the front/bar area were openly discussing other customers in front of guests, including using profanity and making negative remarks. They also pointed out a customer to others, which was inappropriate regardless of the situation and should have been handled privately. My own order was also incorrect. I received pancakes and sausage instead of scrambled eggs and toast. When I pointed this out, I was initially made to feel as though I was mistaken, and was told my toast was on the way. It did not arrive for about 40 minutes, by which time I was nearly finished eating. When I followed up again, it felt like an inconvenience to staff. I also observed other customers being left unattended for extended periods. One guest waited around 15 minutes without acknowledgment, and another approximately 20 minutes before having to call out for service. While one staff member eventually assisted them, the overall lack of attentiveness was noticeable. I was also told by another customer that this level of service is typical for the establishment and may reflect issues from management through ownership, which would help explain the lack of urgency and professionalism I observed. For context, I am not a tourist and visit the area every four to eight weeks. I chose this restaurant only because my original choice had a long wait, and in hindsight, I should have waited, as that is often a sign of quality. While the food itself was average, the main issue was the overall lack of professionalism, attentiveness, and respect shown to customers. This experience did not reflect the level of Southern hospitality I expected. Based on my visit, I would not recommend Hilton Head Café and will not be returning. Best part is they sell t-shirts and mugs SERIOUSLY as if this is a place to brag about. Reality check!!!
