Wife tried two times to get the staff to understand that her French toast was not done properly. She returned the first time and the second offering was the same. French toast needs to be toasted on both sides of he bread and not just the top.. The middle was mushy and not "TOAST" My meal was good but the fact that both of us did not enjoy our brunch was a bummer. read more

The sauces are too strong and over power the food. The shrimp and grits would have been good with no sauce instead of a bowl of Worcestershire. The menu said it had it in it, but did not expect it to taste like the whole bottle. Waitress was nice but slow and didn't refill drinks until end of dinner. I'm from Alaska originally and know good fish. So when the server/chef's wife/owner asked me how I'd like my salmon cooked, I knew I was going to be enjoying a good piece of salmon. Indeed, it was perfectly cooked! I asked for tartar sauce because the server had mentioned it was homemade. It was delicious! My husband kept dipping his chips in it and said it was the best tartar sauce he'd ever had. We were at Hudson's the night before (skip it and eat here). I thought the key lime pie there was good, but the chef (and owner) at Lulu's makes the absolute BEST key lime pie I have ever had! Truly phenomenal! read more

My husband and I went to Lulu's for Valentine's dinner. It's a really cute restaurant. We sat in a row of four tables, two people per table. The tables were really close together. I realize that the restaurant is very small and they need to get as many people in as possible, but it was a little too close for comfort being only a foot or two from the other guests. We started with Moscow mule and Prosecco, which was delicious. We then had the coastal salad, which was fantastic. Lump crab meat, scallops, and shrimp. We shared that appetizer. I then had the salmon which was delicious. It was perfectly cooked and had great flavor. My husband had the pork chop, which was quite dry. We will give Lulu a try again during our next visit to Hilton Head in March. But we will pass on the pork chop and give something else a try. Most likely I'll order the salmon again. read more

Ate dinner there last night, amazing food and service once again. The dinner monk fish dish brought back fond memories of my childhood fishing with my Dad. We used to catch Monk fish and toss them back until this fellow fisherman asked if we were crazy. He said that is the "poor man's lobster tail". And he was right! After the first bite all my memories came back in a flourish. Burrata salad was terrific as was that special dessert; key lime pie- incredible. My wife had that special London Broil. Out with my 95 y/o mom after Thanksgiving and we decided to try LuLu - sure glad we did. Wasn't too busy. Seated quickly and the waiter was very nice. Mom had a Chardonnay and I had a Diet Coke. Menu was short and sweet, exactly like I like it and filled with comfort food. Mom had the fried flounder sandwich and I had the bacon cheeseburger. Both dishes came with fresh homemade Parmesan chips. Food came out after a short wait and the portions was very nice sized. Flounder sandwich was huge and cooked perfectly. Crispy batter rather than puffy batter. Mom said it was one of the best fried flounder filets she's ever had. My burger was stacked. Cooked exactly like I ordered medium rare/ medium. Bacon was crispy, and the onion ring on the burger was nice touch. Chips were very crispy and delicious. Service was very good and we throughly enjoyed ourselves. Will definitely be back! read more

Our family has been to Hilton Head 3x now and we've been to many restaurants, but THIS restaurant has been the absolute best one. Someone recommended Lulu and we are so happy they did. This is a hidden gem!! First of all, the name of the restaurant is named after the families dog, Lulu. As a dog lover I was sold before I ever walked in! But boy did they blow it out of the water with our meal, wow. The burrata was heaven sent, the fried chicken was blissful, and the souffle was the best I've ever had!!! I also love that a portion of their Lulu drink goes to help shelter dogs. Nice spot for dinner with a group. Parking easy & close. Inside winter dining is fine with many tables but too close. Noise level ok. Be aware this is not a reduced price restaurant. Menu has many items but limited popular choices. Lunch menu is better. Tried the duck egg rolls first just ok & not hot. Lobster Mac & Cheese was outstanding with a large portion. Pork chop was large, moist & cooked to perfection. Add a side of the very good succotash. A couple of servers handled our table & very good. My family and I came in for Sunday brunch in total a party of 10, 3 of them being high chairs. It took a bit to set up which we didn't mind because we were a walk in. Once we sat down it took 10 minutes before anyone got to us. We got waters finally but another 5-10 minutes went by so I went inside to ask for a drink menu and I got slightly ignored as all the servers were arguing about something. I decided to walk away after feeling awkward with them arguing, a server stepped out with menus and apologized and said someone will be over shortly. Once the server came over the first thing she said was " just so everyone knows we don't sell liquor on Sundays" instead of introducing her name she was worried about us ordering liquor. She was an older woman, but never once did she mention her name. After she took our food order she came back 10 minutes later to confirm our orders again, seemed odd about. It took almost 30 minutes for our food to come out. I personally ordered a waygu burger with no pickles or tomatoes. It was brought out with both and as I was trying to tell her I need her to change the entire bun but I was left speechless when she reached at my plate and picked off the pickle and tomato off the burger with her bare hands. I was disgusted honestly when she did that. If she did that in plain sight I wonder how nasty they can be in the kitchen. My sister then proceeded to ask for a side of strawberries and raspberries for one of the kids and the server replied "we don't have raspberries" as she was setting down a parfait with strawberries and raspberries...... I could go on about the other multiple things that occurred but overall, the server seemed miserable and didn't care to talk to us. Service was terrible, the food was alright but not worth the trouble. I have never been so disappointed to where I leave a review and that's from someone that's been in f&b for 10 years. Had one of the best meals in Hilton Head at this cute little spot. My husband was craving a lobster roll and boy did they deliver. It was probably one of the best lobster rolls I have had. My husband and I shared the short rib grilled cheese and the lobster roll, both were fantastic. Holy crap Batman!!! We saw this place in one of the Hilton Head brochures, and happened to be playing putt putt next door, so we decided to give it a try. Absolutely the best meal we have had since we hit Hilton Head 3 days ago!!! My wife, had the shrimp and grits, and growing up in the south she is a real critic of that dish. She said it was one of the best she has ever had. I had the Monkfish Schnitzel, which was absolutely genius!!! Went here after someone recommended it last year. So, very disappointed. Potatoes served with the steak were dripping with oil, oil had a burnt taste to it and just a flat awful. The steak was well prepared and seasoned per the menus with a garlic butter, I felt it was sugar garlic sauce as it was very sweet. Husband's meal was the well known chicken breasts fried with mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts. Sprouts were fresh and cooked well but the sauce was a mayonnaise based something and strong mayo flavored sauce. Chicken was a sweet batter like a pancake or waffle mix of sorts. Cooked well and juicy but again, sweet. Overall, service was nice, restaurant clean and well presented. The meals were not all that great given the higher price point. $17 for a single glass of wine. The menu is pretty limited so look online before you dine here, a couple walked out after we sat because they couldn't find anything in their words simple without too much stuff. read more

We came on a Sunday and enjoyed brunch on the covered patio. The lobster roll was good. It wasn't super flavorful, but I liked that it didn't have too much mayo and it came with chips. I really enjoyed the crabcake though. It was packed with meat and came on top of fresh corn. Overall, the food is a solid four stars. But, Angela, our waitress, was five stars! What a nice little gem in a shopping center! As you walk in the interior is lovely and though close, the booths are private. Our party of 4 shared 3 appetizers and all were excellent! The ricotta dip was outstanding and my wife and sister-in-law loved the buratta. I had the surf and turf ravioli, they were outstanding. My lobster was a little tough, but the beef ravioli and sauce was excellent! My wife had a lobster roll and it was overflowing with meat, but it was dry and the chips it came with had been cooked a little long so almost had a burnt flavor. We finished with one of the best pieces of key lime pie we have ever had! Our server was efficient. The food arrived quickly. Overall the meal was a success and we would love to try it again!! Terrible service! We arrived on time for a Christmas Eve reservation. After 5 minutes with no server, a waitress rushed by to say she would be with us shortly. She seemed to be busy at the front desk. After 15 minutes we asked the busboy to get our waitress. We saw him talk to her but still she did not wait on us. We got up and walked out. We told her we were leaving because of the horrible service and she just shrugged. Our Christmas Eve was ruined. We will never come back to this restaurant. read more

The restaurant is beautiful and the staff was very friendly the three stars were solely for the food. As someone who grew up in the south and love a great shrimp and grits I was excited to hear it was one of the favorite. So, I ordered it, but it was soaked in a brown gravy which was super rich and took away from the main stars - shrimp and grits! However, others loved their salad and steak. So, maybe just order something other than the shrimp and grits. read more

We were there at lunchtime and decided to go in. The lunch menu has many choices and the price is good. My husband got the lobster roll( cold) and it was loaded with lobster and a large bun so more than the usual size. My fresh tuna sandwich was delicious too. I didn't care for the parmesan chipps and should have just said give me the chips and spare the parmesan cheese that they shake over the chips. There was one server for the whole place that was about half full including an outside areea but he was amazing. Even replenished our sodas without being asked. Wow! Looking at the menu and the interesting mix of ingredients coming together that provides a world of taste you really are not going to find in many places locally -- if any -- I would call this a chef driven menu. I thought about getting the Seafood Salad - Scallop / Shrimp / Lobster / Lemon / Citrus Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil to start, but I was actually saying to myself that it sounds too good to be true. Well, with someone else ordering it at our table, it was that good and it certainly was true! I, instead, ordered the Burrata - Grilled Peaches / Port Wine Reduction / Prosciutto / Crostini to start and was super happy with that. For dinner I thought about the Fried Chicken - Twin Breasts, Whipped Yukon Gold Potatoes / Sweet Corn / Cabernet Demi / Corn Bread but instead ordered the Short Rib Grilled Cheese - Caramelized Onion / Imported Provolone / Garlic Pickle / Parmesan Chips. I was happy doing that just because of the size of the entrée as the chicken would have been too much for me! I wish I had taken a photo of the Lobster Mac & Cheese side ordered for the table as well. The portion size was not only generous, but the lobster was perhaps the most plentiful I have ever seen for this combination. Saw the good reviews online and looked forward to a great meal--unfortunately, that didn't happen. The "starter" salads are huge -- entree size. Should never be listed as starters. The pear and Gorgonzola salad featured pears that were not ripe -- very hard. We were perhaps halfway through our salads and the entrees arrived-strange. My halibut was overdone - dry. My wife had the tuna over noodles. The noodles were so salty she sent the dish back-first time she has ever sent a dish back. The restaurant comped their "famous" key lime pie but we found it heavy and bland. Nothing like true key lime pie that you find in Key West. FYI-the bread at $8 (really??) had a consistency similar to cornbread. Overall, very disappointing and overpriced. read more
