Obviously, Lisa and her team did a fantastic job with the landscaping. She presented me with three different design options, worked with me to stay within my budget, and then executed the project exactly as she explained she would. She even moved my project up on the schedule after I mentioned I was planning to sell my house soon, which I really appreciated. What really stood out, though, wasn't just the quality of the work, it was the communication. It was clear, transparent, and consistent before, during, and even after the project. That level of professionalism is surprisingly rare in the home improvement industry. I own a house that was built in 1887, and over the past eight years I've hired countless companies for projects including a new deck, porch, fencing, painting, paver installation, and just about everything else you can think of. One of the most frustrating parts of working with companies in this industry is the lack of organization and communication. They're usually quick to collect the deposit, but after that you're left constantly following up for project start dates, updates, and progress. Working with Lisa was the complete opposite. One of the biggest challenges was that all of the demolition debris had to be taken out through a very tight access point, but the crew handled it efficiently without any issues. From start to finish, Daniel and his team were organized, professional, and incredibly hardworking. They removed the shed, demolished and hauled away all of the old concrete, cleared the overgrown lawn, and completely transformed the space. The quality of the materials they used was excellent. They built a beautiful stone patio exactly the way we envisioned it, installed an elegant pathway accented with Mexican river rock, and created two separate areas--one for our pool and another with fresh sod for a small lawn. Spring of 2019 Steve…read morecreated a landscape design surrounding our home and detached garage to be completed after our deck and surrounding fence were completed. Long story short, their was a delay in completing the job. Wrong color of fence arrived, deck finished late in the summer and I decided to wait until spring of 2020. As soon as we were allowed out of quarantine I called Tholens in Kankakee to get a completed estimate and arrange for work to begin. I stopped by to speak with Steve, a gentleman went to get him and 30 minutes later, I am still waiting and no Steve. Even the girl at the counter seemed clueless but didn't offer to remind him I was waiting. I called for an appointment and was told I didn't need one, he was there 6 days a week. So I dropped by as suggested and spoke to his wife, went through the plans and discussed color. Steve was to return my call with the estimate. Didn't hear from him and called the following Monday. Still no estimate (even though the design was complete dimensions and all). I have done similar estimates, just sit down for 30 minutes with a pencil and calculator. I was told they were very busy, I asked should I call the following Monday(week later) and was told yes. I called 3 more times and was pretty much ghosted. I feel like they were trying to humiliate me, because that's how I feel. I don't need to be told yes, I just want the truth. A good business design: don't tell people you are too busy it's insulting. call back so they can move on, let the customers know you can't do the work this season or ever for that matter and you won't get a bad review on yelp. ps....this was a significant job
