This is hidden gem. I heard about this place from a good friend of mine to check this place out. I finally bit the bullet and went. Easy access and off the main road. We went on day that unfortunately was raining; so we time it out when the rain stopped or slowed down. It is nice little restaurant. They mainly offer takeout only. They do have dine in sorta. Is not an inside but a few picnic tables with a cover. The cover is not big enough to block the rain. They have plenty of parking. It is located in small shopping center. As we arrived and walked up. The smell of something delicious brewing! They unfortunately just only accept cash. The menu is conveniently posted on the wall and very easy to read. We just had few people in front of us. I opted for the fried oyster and fried fish (swai) platter. We had to get a shrimp poboy. They are well known for their sandwiches. We also got an order of onion rings and Shrimp Lo Mein. She said our order will take a while. She gave us a buzzer. She advised us we will buzz you when it is ready. We waited in our vehicle. As we paid for it. Just happened a crowd of people showed up. It actually did not take that long to cook. On the way home the smell of deliciousness filled the air. The oyster and fish platter looked amazing and tasty. It came with a small cup of potato salad, roll, cocktail sauce and tartar sauce, hush puppies and a generous amount of crinkle cut fries. The shrimp poboy was large with plenty of large shrimp. It came fully dressed (mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles) Large order of onion rings. Order of Shrimp Lo Mein. Very tasty! All were so delicious and amazing! Besides the weather. Ben's Deli is a no-frills types place that kicks out some pretty good seafood at a fair price point. The service is friendly enough, but be advised that it is strictly cash only. So had some fried rice for lunch while at work and it was just as I remembered it from about 4 years ago when I ate there. Wife called and we were discussing dinner I said I want fried rice. We went back to Ben's. This time I had the shrimp po-boy, wife had cheeseburger on a bun and dad had roast beef po-boy. The shrimp is fried in a slightly sweeter batter. Not bad but definitely needs some hot sauce for a little spice. Enough shrimp left over to make another po-boy after i finished. The burger was well a burger. Nothing special. Was surprised with the 2 patties that came on the burger giving you plenty of meat to toppings ratio. Roast beef was sliced roast beef looked like it came from a deli. Less crispy, and less flavorful than some places, but still good. The volume of shrimp was exceptional. Tons and tons of shrimp. Mountaibs of overflowing shrimp. The bread was pretty good, but a little breadier and softer than the French bread I'm used to. My DIL had the same, and was fully satisfied with the experience. This place use to be good quality, worth the money and never good service, the workers are always in a bad mood, have attitude. The concept of customer service is to be polite acknowledge and thank those who keep you all in the US living the dream free of charge unlike us real US citizens. The food I ordered was combo lo mein only to receive what seems to be chopped to pieces and shreds of lo mein noodles plate barely half way full and it was 12 bucks. Y'all I came here three times during my week long stay in Biloxi. My brother's friend, who grew up here, recommended this place to him and he in turned got me hooked. I really wanted fried oysters, but they are currently unavailable here. The fried shrimp po' boy was my alternative and man I'm already missing it now that I'm back home. I wasn't even into po' boys before and now nothing will compare. It's just a simple sandwich right? I thought so too. But at Ben's, they fill up that sandwich with nice plump pieces of shrimp that's not all batter. Take that sandwich to the beach to enjoy fresh and warm. That right there is Biloxi to me now. Best seafood platter and cheaper on the coast. The cheese steak is awesome without tomatoes. Service is from a window, and bring cash, no cards taken there. I was visiting family in Gulfport and my sister in law told me I had to try this place. Of course I waited for the last day to the last minute before I was leaving. My husband and I arrived and the small diner like establishment was packed full of people. When it was my turn to place my order I didn't think I'd be able to get my food in time. However I was pleasantly surprised as the turn over time was less than 10 minutes. I ordered the shrimp po boy and my husband order the steak and cheese. All I can say is I'm in love with the po-boy. It was amazing full of shrimp until they were falling out of the bread they were perfectly cooked succulent and sweet. My husband's steak and cheese was dam near as good as mine they were broth perfect and so reasonably priced. I can't wait to return to Gulfport as this definitely will be my 1st stop. read more
