It's hard to find a great smashburger in the Gulfport area, especially somewhere that isn't a big chain. While Rebel Dip didn't provide a *great* burger, they did provide a *good* burger. That was enough for me after several days of swings and misses at several different restaurants. This place is exactly what it claims to be: an old-style drive-in with a walk up counter and a few picnic tables for customers who want to eat there. The service was...serviceable. The woman at the counter wasn't very nice, but she took our orders fine. They didn't put my dad's shake out with his meal so we had to ask for it, which seemed to displease her. The food was good. Nothing special but it filled us up and it wasn't marked up to insane prices like a lot of restaurants in the area. The fries were seasoned and a nice-sized portion. The burgers were alright. Definitely tasty enough that we finished them. The shake was good too! Not too chocolatey and very thick. One of my friends got a pork sandwich and polished it off in a matter of minutes. So, would I recommend Rebel Dip? The answer is...probably? If a better smashburger place opened up, it would be a no based on the food alone, but it's kind of worth it just for the experience. read more

Wow, it's been there over 50 years and it's still going strong. No inside seating, just good old picnic tables under the shade of the building. Basic but very good menu. The burgers look and taste freshly made. The chili tastes freshly made too. Amazingly, they sell a very good Philadelphia Cheese steak. The fries were hot and crispy, the staff efficient and polite. They even offer Malts and milkshakes. A good Malt is hard to find these days. In the short time we were there, well after lunch time, we were impressed by the number of drive up and pick up customers going thru the business. They are doing it right! The non 4/5 star reviews were right...very skinny hamburger patty. There are much better burgers on the coast for the same price. When I have to put ketchup on my burger is when I know it is not the best burger. Every bite needed ketchup as the patty is seasonless and there is no sauce just Mayonnaise. They've been in business for over 50 years for a reason! I've been coming here since my earliest childhood memories for the chocolate dipped ice cream cones. Now my favorite is the old fashioned burgers and shakes. SO yummy!! The best burgers on the Coast! The girls at the window are always sweet as can be and they've never got my order wrong. On a perfect spring day it's so nice to sit outside with family or friends and share a banana split. Only thing is they make your food fresh and to order so sometimes there's a little wait but always worth it. Our family has been coming here now for four generations. Have to find something local when I travel and burgers are a favorite which lead me to this old gem. When I first pulled up I had flashbacks of my childhood and going to mom and pop burger stands back in Alabama. The sign says the place has been around since the 60s and I can believe that. Definitely had that old school feel: menu board with little plastic letters and numbers, old concrete and wood bench tables under overhangs along side of the main building. Love the old pictures of the family that started the place in the window. There's something to be said about these places that stick to their roots. The food was a testament to that. I ordered a double meat cheeseburger all the way, cajun fries, and a strawberry milkshake. The burger was simple yet well executed. Two 1/4 patties with double cheese, all the toppings on a soft bun. Interesting that they put the toppings on bottom of the meat and cheese on top, made for a different taste I liked. The fries were very good, made me think of Rally's fries from the old days. Lastly they strawberry shake was thick, rich and just the right amount of strawberries. I'm here in town for 9 more days and I may have to come back one or two more times. read more
