There were no lifeguards when we went. The water was enjoyable to swim in back in the day. The area is beautiful and can get really packed. Currently, swimming, cooking, or fires are not allowed; however, there are many trails in the area and the pond is used for fishing kayaking/canoeing, and boating. There is a boat ramp to launch those. There is also a boat ramp on the Connecticut side. This body of water is 60-feet deep and 430-acres. Fishing is very popular here; types of fish that can be found are, brown/rainbow trout, pickerel, bass, perch, catfish, and walleye. Overall, a great spot to hang out on a canoe/kayak/fish, wish we can swim in it again though.

Getting into the parking lot isn't a problem but getting out might be. Cars are flying past the entrance way at a pretty fast speed. There's a boat launch and a small pier but that's about it. Fishing is prohibited during certain times of the year along with swimming but for the life of me I don't know why people would want to go swimming? There's no shower facility or changing room. There is a restroom that looks more like and outhouse to me. I was going to check it out for the sake of the review then realized some things are best left to wonder. Overall three stars. Easy launching and picking up of boats but lack of personal facilities drips their rating. Now excuse me, I drank too much coffee. I'll go.....no I'll hold it. M

Free parking is available, and this place is right next to the beavertail lighthouse musuem. cute and small, and has an explorative habitat that one can feel sea creatures and plants. It's interesting there is a charge without a service being offered. Also, when unloading kayaks and equipment by the water there are "valet" boat launches that require you to move your car wether your finished unloading or not. Very inconvenient, stressful and expensive. I did a lot of research prior to going clamming on Ninigret pond with kayaks and there was zero information for rates on this venue. Sticker shock to say the very least. I will go to Ninigret pond again To clam. However I warn everyone now that although this place appears kayak friendly it is not a very friendly place for wallets or loading and unloading.

What it lacks for being modern it more than makes up for with charm. The merry go round is in perfect working condition & it seems like you're going back in time when you're on it. In addition to an arcade, bumper cars & mini-golf there's about 4 other rides for small children. The newest addition still seems a bit antiquated. It's a dragon roller coaster that my 14 rode & she said she was scared she'd fall out. My 3 year old absolutely loves Monkey Mayhem which is a big barrell that spins around & around. There's a smaller roller coaster that goes forward a bit then backwards & he loves it too. The games in the arcade do seem to be up to date. I can't really comment too much since I'm not a gamer. But the selection seems ok & there are a few other coin-op games too. Nothing crazy but it's acceptable. We always have a great time when we go & my son asks to go all the time. Since we live almost walking distance from there we can go at the drop of a hat & haven't been there during peak time. When we do go we get personal service since there's hardly anyone there. I do love the charm of this place & there aren't any other rides on the beach so you're stuck with them whether you think it's a dump or think it's awesome. I'm somewhere in between. It's a very charming dump that's family friendly & I'd recommend it to everyone.
