Yes, it is technically on a bay, but it's salt water, there are sea shells and sea glass, and considering my dog is two feet tall and hats the water, this is an ocean beach (for him). I will die on this hill. Williams Beach is adjacent to the YMCA and like, three giant steps from their parking lot. It does seem the internet got it right that the beach is without life guard after Labor Day, and there is signage asking dogs to stay off the sand and out of the water. There are also "park" areas, I assume owned by the YMCA, including but not limited to, a volleyball court, playground, and baseball fields. Picnic tables are plentiful. It was nice and quiet in the middle of September on a weekday, although it must be packed in the summer. It was pretty clean, although any litter I saw was definitely from irresponsible humans and not the inexplicably banned dogs.

I ended up woth a lump on my head and a migraine!!! No apology and I asked them ahead of time when they arrived that I didn't want to get hit!! They laughed out loud! A father and his college age sons!! Rude!!! Also the adult swim area was invaded at 1:00 pm with parents small kids!! They are supposed to be swimming in the kids section!! Very rude and disrespectful!! I don't recommend going there if you are a YMCA member and plan on sitting there alone without your husband! RUDE people! Not safe!!!

I thought all the dinosaurs were super impressive and love how they setup the whole walking trail. There is a ton of shade, so even if you go when it's super hot you'll be fine! I appreciate all the ferns that they planted around, makes it feel "authentic" with all the dinos. For my dino obsessed five year old he loved seeing all the variety of dinosaurs and even some more obscure ones that he knew and you never see at spots like this. They did a great job of putting some dinosaurs into "scenes" and simply showcasing others with facts and more info. My son isn't into splash pads, but that splash pad looked like a ton of fun. The climbing area was also huge and looked like fun. My five year old stuck to walking around and going through the maze 15 times. The maze is simple, but fun and a nice addition to the park. What I like about this park is it's great for kids of all ages! Probably from at least 3-10 and even older if your child is super into dinosaurs or you are an adult who loves dinos!

There is a large "tent" set up for the shade seekers. There is also a small pavilion with benches for gatherings. We brought our son here today to beat the heat with a little water play. He opted to change into his suit in the car, but there are also restrooms available. There are a handful of of benches circling the splash pad. They're far enough away that you aren't under direct fire (there are large water guns), but you may get a refreshing spray now and then. This would be a great spot to meet up with some friends for a picnic and to let the kids run wild!

Really nice spot to take a short walk and stretch the legs while in Westerly. I love how it's also…read morean arboretum and all the trees are marked with plaques denoting their common and scientific names. There are also a number of interpretive signs that convey some of the history and current uses of the buildings. There are a number of war monuments and some cool sculptures. We especially enjoyed the sculpture "The Runaway Bunny" by Margaret Wise Brown. Love that the park was founded by a woman, Harriet Wilcox. Opposite the park, there is a nice mural with her image and apparently a quote by her "The People Shall Have Their Park". Respect. The park is open dawn to 9pm. Street parking.

Wilcox Park is one of Westerly's best kept secrets. Probably not for locals, but for out of towners…read morelike me I adore this place. I go at least a few times a year. It feels to me like I am in in a European park, with fountain, statues, and carefully sculpted ponds, with bench seating throughout. It's a large space with winding walking paths. Much nicer in the summer when everything is in full bloom but even in the winter or early spring on a sunny day it still has a lot to offer a nature buff like myself. You can park on the street for free and access the park at different points. Definitely worth a visit particularly in the warmer weather.

I don't know how large it is but you can see some of it from the road. I think that its pretty awesome that westerly has a skate park.
