All of the employees, from sweet Lori behind emails and calls, thoughtful Bill's time and response, to River looking into past files, to Tyler helping me schedule our floor magician, Dave. What a team of dedicated home professionals! In short, I had to have floorboards removed in random spots- I was distraught and hesitant, thinking the floors integrity would be ruined. Dave, their flooring specialist is one of the kindest, most sincere people you will ever meet. The work he did was nothing short of perfection. He took his time, and ensured quality work. You would never tell my beautiful floors were worked on! Just flawless work. I have personally called this company for flooring, bathroom needs and questions - they go out of their way to problem solve and provide guidance! We went shopping for a granite kitchen counter and visited three different companies. We found that Benson Stone had the best Pricing, the best Selection, and the best Customer Service. Very Professional and very Attentive. Excellent Communication all through the process. Even better, the person measuring our counters and the installation team were incredible. The installers were not average guys, they were true Craftsmen that were able to overcome some of our kitchen irregularities during the installation. Unbelievable results. Beautiful Kitchen! Benson Stone installed a counter top, backsplash, sink and disposal in July. It is now December. We had an issue with water leaking from a faulty pipe under the sink. Benson came out right away and replaced the pipe. Very happy with their speedy repair! read more

We are choosing to give zero stars for Benson Stone Company. Sadly our experience with BSC was very disappointing. Our remodeling began in August, and we were told it would wrap up around Thanksgiving. By Christmas, the contractor was still promising to finish, which did not happen. Our project finally wrapped up in January, but this was after we let the first contractor go and requested a second contractor to complete all of the unfinished items. Through all of this, the manager was requesting payment for tasks that were not complete. Now to describe why we let the first contractor go. We were very unsatisfied with the work that the contractor did in our kitchen. He installed crooked, unsightly crown molding above the cabinets in a corner that he later told us was not "square." The crown molding above the corner cabinets goes up too far by about an inch and a half. If the contractor had told us that the ceiling was not square, we could have talked about options to fix the ceiling. Instead, he waited until the cupboards, molding, and lighting were all in. We have repeatedly requested that BSC fix the corner at their cost, but they refuse. To this day, there has been no manager or member of the Benson family come to our house to inspect the problem area. We have requested over and over to have someone come to our house. The manager, Greg and the owner, Andy Benson do not see why it is necessary to come to our home. The designer, Kayla and the contractor came to our house for a "meeting," but the contractor took no responsibility for his errors. He said our house is old and will never be perfect. He also stated that he did not inform us of the issue since we would not have wanted to pay for it. I guess he could not give us the courtesy of telling us what was going on until everything was installed. He could have saved us headaches and money if he had told us. Now we have to have the corner fixed and pay out more money for a problem we did not know existed. At the "meeting," the designer said absolutely nothing. She offered no apologies or any solutions. The contractor frequently used foul language while he was working in our home. I know this, because I was home recovering from a broken leg. There were days he barely accomplished any tasks, because he was talking and joking with other BSC workers. We currently have problems in our bathroom from poor work done by the electricians. We all pay our hard-earned income for remodels. We expect honesty and accountability from the company we choose. Shamefully, we do not see this as a part of BSC's ethics. read more

Was not able to experience anything positive about shopping at Benson Stone. I would rate it as both the worst experience and end product results. I generally don't write negative reviews, but these people need 1) customer service training and 2) stop selling Out of Stock/Discontinued products. I ordered 3 tiles from their floor samples (flooring, fireplace and backsplash) for a new construction home and only got 1 of the 3 as ordered. Everything else they sold me was "discontinued" causing delay after delay. That would not be so bad but the salesperson, Erin Knabbe, waited 4-6 weeks to tell me - discontinued. Next, I ordered a Rustic & Distress 7 ft Birch kitchen island and only two sides came in rustic, two were perfectly smooth. No fix and no response - HELLO! Erin Knabbe, the kitchen design person was very slow to return calls, if at all. I felt like I had to keep her "on task" as she proved over and over again to be the type of sales person to - sell it and move on. Very poor follow up. Lastly I ordered a honed quartzite kitchen countertop (says Honed right on the order form), came in high gloss, and while they did pick it up from the job site, honed it and sent it back, either the seal or honing is just wrong, plain water spots stain? Not worth even calling them about it - they are so unresponsive. Even the Customer Service Manager, Greg, was completely unempowered to act in his capacity! While Benson is a beautiful place to shop and easy b/c it's a one stop shop and they think they have the market cornered in Rockford - GO ELSEWHERE - There are plenty of other local choices. read more

She was patient and professional. We ended up buying furniture for two rooms. Took about 10-12 weeks for it to come in but it was totally worth it. Wow! Best (and fastest) customer service ever! And I didn't even purchase anything. Guest damaged my single slab, cultured marble, bathroom countertop; likely singed it with an e-cigarette. Have been calling all over Rockford, including big box and local hardware stores. All sorts of exorbitant estimates resulted -- to replace the whole thing. No one was interested in a possible repair. No one wanted to actually see and assess the damage. Benson Stone was eventually recommended by local hardware store. I didn't think they would want to be bothered with a job this silly. Guess again! Chris returned the call within ten minutes and offered (!) to come and check the countertop. He showed up within half an hour, explained the options and costs. No hassle, no pressure. Nothing was purchased. Benson Stone, at this point, has had no actual business from me. But -- when I do need one -- I know where I'm going. Simply the best. read more

We just had quartz countertops installed by Benson Stone. The sales lady assured us the veins would line up and the counter top would look seamless. What we got was a huge off white seam (our counters are white) that has craters. While installing I was extremely concerned about 1 vein that was off about a quarter inch.. the installers even agreed and said it looked as tho their router got caught. They called Paul Benson, whom asked to speak with me. Was completely unprofessional said we'd have to send them back and pay to have them recut. What?!?! Over the next day my husband and I noticed smudges all over the counters that would not come off. Especially around the seam areas where they used Razors and acetone to get the glue off. We demanded someone come out to look at them. Paul came out, when we explained to him they were using acetone he was very quick to say they didn't use acetone in the shop or onsite. Wanted to know which installer told us that. The installers had a large metal can here that said acetone across the front. When we asked if that was nail polish remover they jokingly said yes but more industrial grade. AND our house smelled like a nail salon. Which most likely took the finish off our counter tops. Paul & Andy Benson were full of excuses and more worried about loosing money (their words not ours) than making us happy. Paul laughed/smirked at me when I brought "loosing" money back to his attention. Paul then said he will send someone out to get them to look "the best they can" excuse me... is that acceptable for brand new countertops?! They should be perfect. Where to even begin! It really is great! I've been to Benson Stone on many occasions and absolutely love so many things about it. For those who haven't been, Benson Stone is located in a restored furniture factory. Beautifully renovated, the store offers something for everyone. On the first floor, you can find home décor and gift items, beautiful fireplaces to inspire ideas for your home, or build on your own. There's also a wonderful selection of outdoor products ranging from landscaping materials, barbeque grills, to fire pits. Meander up to the second floor where you'll find flooring, cabinetry, countertops, and a lighting display that is sure to knock your socks off. The third and fourth floors host an incredible furniture selection. (Sensing a theme here? For the record--I established early on in this post that I'm a fan. ;) There truly is something for every budget and the displays are sure to inspire your creativity. When you're done perusing, be sure to stop by the Hearthrock Café for a bite to eat and a cup of delicious coffee. At a minimum...Get. The. Coffee. Mmm..... My personal purchases from this store include a Flexsteel leather furniture set and coordinating tables. We have this set and another from a different manufacturer/retailer in a different area of the house. Although comparable in cost, the quality of the Flexsteel set surpasses the other set immeasurably. We also purchased a gas fireplace from here, as well. The salesperson was very patient in the process of educating me on the features of each and assisted me in choosing the right unit for our home. It has worked out perfectly! Beyond that, there've been numerous purchases of landscaping materials and home décor items. My point in sharing this is to establish that it's a great resource in our community. Great inventory for a small town like Rockford however worst customer service. Cant agree enough with the reviewer Emily below. To be very precise had an awful experience dealing with the sales people in the flooring department. Complained to the manager for the flooring department Bill and his response was that he is equally frustrated with his sales team. Made four visits to the store spent atleast three hours/visit trying to find the right tile and grout with a sales person who always looked at her watch and was always in a rush to leave.Finally found the right material asked her to send a quote and when I went in the next day to place the order the first thing she tells me is "I am sorry I am ready to leave" this is 2.30pm in the afternoon so I politely asked her to get me in touch with whoever was available, something she should have offered herself but i had to ask. Bill the supervisor came forth but couldn't help me much because the sales person who left for the day left him with the wrong name for the products i wanted to order. Another day was wasted. Today I walked in and met another unhappy not willing to take the order sales person. Not only she was too busy to take the order she had the worst tone ever, rolled her eyes and refused to place the order because she did not know where to pick up from where the other two had left. Mind you this woman had previously helped us pick 70./. of the products. You don't want to spend your valuable time picking and choosing stuff for a week and in the end not finding a sales person who willingly and happily wants to take your order. To my understanding this store is doing well only because they are the only stone and tile boutique in Rockford. Wonder whats behind the bad attitude are they not getting their commision or are they under paid?. I have never seen such carefree and rude staff under one roof. We cancelled the whole order and went to Lonnies, hoe got the order in today and will be i in 14 days. Stay away from this store. You notice the rave reviews are from years ago. Not sure what happened, I would have been one to give top ratings as well until last year. I ordered and put a down payment on a dining room set the summer of 2020 By Thanksgiving I had not heard a word from Benson's. I called them and they said due to COVID shipping was delayed. After Christmas I still had not heard from Benson's so I called again to be told my dining set was in Texas. A week later Benson's called - first time since I bought the set - they had my dining set, it was damaged and when did I want it delivered. I did not purchase a damaged set so of course said I do not want it delivered. So here it is April 2021, still no word from Benson's so I call again. I was put on hold multiple times and finally a customer service rep came on only to say he would check his emails and call me right back. Hmm, haven't heard back and they are now closed. I wish I could get my money back or they would at least reach out to let me know will I ever get my dining set or are they just planning to keep my money. I had recommended Benson's to friends and neighbors who spent a large amount of money to remodel their kitchen and fireplace. I am so disappointed with this service, or should I say lack of service. I was always the first one to say, go to Benson's, our house is furnished with furniture we have purchased there, I guess that loyalty no longer matters and I regretfully will be searching for another store to shop. Benson Stone Company is a class act. First and foremost, it is locally owned. Kudos for another successful Rockford business. This store is fun to shop. It is like a giant boutique of home decor and accessories - for you and the home! I recently purchased a king size platform bed from Benson Stone and my husband I love, love, love it. It is an urban industrial piece, of which, I have been able to get it to blend perfectly with my modern - urban - farm - country - boho - eclectic decor! It is so different than anything you will find in Rockford. The price was right inline with the materials, craftsmanship and art look of the piece. It is not your everyday platform bed - okay! I was willing to pay extra for this different and art-sy piece of furniture. Sales team was excellent. They answered all my questions. The delivery time was right on. The service team that came out to the house to set it up were courteous, polite and efficient. This was my second purchase from Benson Stone. My first purchase was a wood burning fireplace. Here is the story on my "Lopi Wood Burning Stove". We had it installed 4 years ago. The price was right on with every other well crafted wood burning stove on the market. If you are looking for a lower price, then you will get it if you want thinner construction. This stove heats up our 2400 SF home like crazy. We have 20 foot vaulted ceilings and bedrooms on a second floor. It's definitely efficient. The sales person was very knowledgeable and encouraged me to do my homework before buying. Benson Stone came out to the house and did measurements and assessed my needs for heat and a few weeks later my stove was installed. WE were very pleased with the installation. It was clean, perfect craftsmanship on our roof. I like Benson Stone for my home decor needs. when you are shopping at Benson Stone there is a cafe at the entrance where you can sit and discuss your forthcoming purchase. This company really has it "going on" for a local business. There is no need to go to Chicago or the suburbs to find quality. It's right here in Rockford at Benson Stone. With major renovations being done on our home the past year, Benson Stone has been the go to place for many of our needs. Gordon in the brick/stone department was extremely helpful in the beginning stages when determining exterior, as well as, inside granite needs. He was knowledgeable, helpful and very patient. John in the fireplace area also displayed the same qualities when it came to our fireplace choices. He has also been assisting us with outside paver needs and seems to be an expert in this area too. While my husband has loved those areas, my favorite part of the Benson's experience has been as of late, in the furniture department. Jaime Baloun, Interior Designer and Sales Associate has been an absolute joy to work with. Her amazing creativity and tireless dedication has been astounding to me. She has given 100% to all of my design needs from furniture selection to fabric choices to measuring space and bringing things to my home. I won't make a move without her lately as I'm afraid to mess with perfection! One of her finest qualities is the sheer delight you see she has for her career choice. She has worked beside me, creating with me, to make sure my home is a reflection of our style. She just gets us, which is what you want in someone helping you put the finishing touches on your interior space. Meanwhile we went to Midwest Stone Source to take a look around and the actual owner took time out of a very busy tax season to help us that day and scheduled an appointment to come see our home. We ordered granite from Benson for our bathroom vanity. Purchasing and picking out the granite went great, sales person was very helpful. But the problem came when we were ready to have the granite installed. First, the sales person stated that we did not pay to have the granite installed when we first ordered the granite (which we were told that we did originally) and wanted another $200 to get the granite installed. Then secondly, they did not have the granite ready for installation when they said they would. Our contractor had to wait on them until he could finish the bathroom. It was very frustrating. We bought a 2nd home in Florida and needed to replace the tile flooring. It was a large project. Now you would think it would be easy to find a tile company to work with in Florida. We visited several flooring companies and found them to be extremely difficult to deal with. We were unable to get upfront pricing and just did not have the product that was high quality. We went back to Illinois and started doing research there. We eventually went to Benson stone that we had used for an outdoor project. The flooring options were not only quality products but they had so many options to choose from. Benson delivered the entire job directly to our Florida home. We are so happy with the product. Every time some one walks into the house that is the first thing they mention is how beautiful the flooring is that we had installed. I gave them 3 tries and enough is enough. In 2010 they tiled two bathroom showers and floors for me and miss calculated the tile. They knew I was on a budget, but wanted to charge me for the extra tile and 75$ for shipping it. I was not happy had a few words with them and they didn't charge me, but acted like they were doing me a favor. Then a 7 months ago we bought a house and wanted to add to the existing cabinets. Just so happened they came from Benson Stone so off I went ordered the cabinets and when they came in the upper one had the wrong doors. Went to the store to let them know and the samples were gone and my cabinets were discontinued after I ordered them and could no longer get that upper door style. The girl I worked with was going to get with her sales rep and let me know what could be done. Called and emailed her' but never an answer. Said she would call me as soon as she heard from the rep. Still waiting!! And after all that dumb me went back for a stone remnant to use in our masterbath. I found one I liked and asked the price. The lady I talked to said she would have someone call me first thing in the morning to give me a price and set up an appointment. I asked her to double check my number and email because I wanted to be sure he called me. That was last week never heard from anyone. So I went to Lonnie's Stonecrafters and was treated so well I didn't know what to do. I found something I liked I was given a great price on the spot. Nick held the stone till my husband could take a look. When we went back we picked a different stone with no problem. Nick emailed me before I even got home thanking me for coming in. We thought Benson Stone would be too expensive to redo our kitchen counter tops. When we went there, the sales people were very friendly, helpful and not pushy by any means. We went with the Caesar Stone. It came in as expected. They had questions and called us. Very helpful. Right after the counter tops were installed, we saw two scratches. One was not very noticeable, the other, very noticeable. We had three counter tops put in. Two had a scratch. The most visible scratch was on the breakfast bar, five inches up, right in front of where the bar stools go-HIGH VISIBILITY. They came right back out and tried to fill it in and patch it, but it was still visible. They said they may have to trench it out, fill it in and see if that works, but most likely that will make it more noticeable. I asked the salesman, :if that doesn't work, do you replace the entire top? We went with Caesar Stone and paid that price, not a scratch and dent price". We have a two part rehab loan and have to have our house DONE in a month-can't do backsplash, etc. until counter tops are in. I even said forget the small scratch on sink counter, what about discounting the one with the deep scratch? (they want to come out, try again, rip it out, reorder a new one, wait to it to be make, them to cut, reinstall...) So instead, the manager, Tyler, said the max discount he could give us was $100. Hmmm...we also have five samples of expensive backsplash we WERE going to order from them. I guess if our trouble and all is only worth $100 (I make more than that each day and to have to take off multiple days?) Guess we will get our 75 feet of back splash tile somewhere else...since we aren't worth the mere $200 discount we were asking for (off of a $6,000 order-NOT including the would be back splash). Great people, great items, poor management. After all, it will cost THEM more than $200 to keep sending people out to fix, not counting the loss of the rest of our rehab purchases. I've been working with Jessica Hughes, Design Consultant, Furniture Dept., since January with a redecorating project in my home. She helped guide me in selecting furniture, carpet, rugs and accessories. Jessica provided exceptional service with her awesome creativity, never ending patience and great attitude! I had a self-imposed deadline of my daughter's graduation party and we met it with time to spare! For a project that was too overwhelming to do on my own, she made it very enjoyable! Sorry to hear of installation woes, as well as not getting good sincere service from staff. As an older person I find that what I found to be exceptional service from people, for instance at Rockford Standard Furniture, is a service that seems to be going by the wayside in recent years. I looked at this site tonite in hopes of seeing some nice recliners. Perhaps I should drive to that place out of 80 west of Chicago that advertises on TV. One more thing. At years end, when stores offer 70% discounts, you have to wonder what your purchase is really worth. I have a sofa 60 years old, bought at John M Smyth on Michigan Av. - great condition. 3 pc sectional and was looking for something of comparison value. in 1957 it was $1,000.00. Please avoid this store. My ordeal began in March I went in to get an idea for a bath remodel lots of stuff to see. The person Pat who helped us very nice; this is all I can say for her she was dumb after that. Pat claimed to order my items did not. I went in multiple times and she still had things confused. Finally my tile was discontinued while on order but suddenly Benson Stone had 6 or 7 boxes that were from all different dye lots that is what they wanted me to take; but it was not even the correct tile the woman wrote down the wrong tile. They lost my business on this I had vanities order through them that were only to take a month to get in going on 2+ months and now being told maybe middle of nest month. They can not pull their heads from down below. Why do you have people working part time on $20,000.00 project duh. Things were not ordered when I was told they were tings have been a mess since March its now the end of August. You may have lots of things but you do not the staff that is trained nor able to do their jobs. read more
