    Friday

This is the third time we've stopped in here and left disappointed. First time we ended up leaving without even ordering because our server never came back to take our orders. The 4 of us waited about 20 minutes, in a mostly empty restaurant, and decided to leave. Second time it took a very, very, long time to get our order taken, for the food to arrive and to find our server to get the bill. In total we sat for over an hour and a half. This time, on a Friday evening, the restaurant was nearly empty, besides a few people sitting at the bar. The menu now has just a variety of sandwiches and burgers. We did try the clam chowder. It's watery and bland. The sandwiches are basic bar quality. They were served with tots that were over cooked. We noticed there's outdoor seating with a bar too. It looks nice but on a rainy Oregon day we all wanted to sit inside. Although it's located close to us it's just not a place for us. There's too many good food places nearby, with friendly service, to keep coming back to a place that's no very good.

Can't go wrong going on nice summer day. The trees provide plenty of shade, it's spread out so not cramped with others, and also some tents if needed. Beers were all really well done. Didn't try any of the food cart. Service was nice and friendly. Only issues are the taster tray is horribly done using the small plastic cups so can spill a decent amount while walking (using small goblets would be better). Also all their beers come in single use plastic cups (no differing trash vs recycle either) so would be nice to see something reusable especially when considering they wouldn't have their space if not respecting nature.

Love the setting, didn't love the beers but I'm kind of partial to New England ipa which they didn't really have (I know I'm in the wrong part of the country). The food was really good though and loved just sitting there under these huge trees with twinkle lights!

Update as of February 2024 the restaurant is closed and for Sale /Lease. The beer garden is only open weekends.

One of the coolest country breweries ever. Sit among the tall pacific pines, maybe by the campfire and enjoy excellent selection of beers.

Great service, great drinks, and the best pizza I've had in decades!…read more The beers Backwoods makes are all delicious and smooth-drinking. The service staff was all exceptional. But the pizza! Off the charts!, FULL REVIEW of all Services: If anyone who enjoys hiking, river fishing, or just a general outdoor-focused vacation wants a good, simple getaway with their spouse/loved one, check out the Backwoods brand in Carson, Washington (just north-northeast of Bridge of the Gods/Cascades Locks). Backwoods Cabins offers a really great overnight stay option. The 8 cabins there are all basic "two-room" designs (bedroom and attached bathroom, and a living room / mini-kitchen room). The cabins sport king-sized beds, a gas fireplace and outdoor fire, a mini kitchen with refrigerator/freezer and microwave (no stove/range). I think 3 of the 8 cabins welcome dogs. The Backwoods brand also owns Backwoods Brewery, which is just across the road from the cabin property. They have great microbrew beers (from light lagers to GREAT stouts!). The brewery also has a smokehouse, with fantastic smoked brisket, pulled pork, and house-made sausage/brats. But even better, the Backwoods Brewery offers the BEST PIZZA I've had in decades. The pizza dough is a perfect balance of flavor and texture. It's not too thin and not too thick. The crust is chewy in the middle, with a great crusty edge and base. The red sauce (they also have a white sauce we didn't try) is thick and rich, with a few tomato chunks. It's got a slight spicy bite with a sweet finish. They also have some unique house pizzas. We tried the Whistle Punk - Red sauce, bacon, smoked brisket, peppadew peppers, sweet onions, fresh mozzarella rounds - and the Pepperoni Express - Red sauce, pepperoni, mushrooms, tomatoes, banana peppers, smoked mozzarella. Both were outstanding. I'd go so far as to say both Donna and I deemed these the best pizzas we've had in 35+ years (noting that our first date was at a pizza joint in Fife we both thought was the best-ever pizza). If you stay in the Backwoods Cabins, you get two coupons for free drinks at the brewery (beer/wine/cider/cocktails) as well as an assortment of snacks for your hiking adventures, and a full S'mores kit to use over the gas fire pit. And if you are in a dog-friendly cabin, you get complimentary treats, and water/food bowls for your canines.

Gluten free review:…read more Came here after a hike because I believe in balance, climb a hill, eat a pizza. Thrilled they had gluten-free options. Tried the Tree Hugger 10" GF pizza and it was genuinely tasty. The crust? So good. The staff? Kind. The price? About $20, which felt a little "ouch," but the pizza did not, and that's what matters. The place was fun and great ambiance. Take a fun trip and go try this place out.

It has an odd entrance that takes you through the brewhouse floor before entering the dining area. They of course have several beers on tap and a pretty nice menu. It was made to perfection had just a hint of a spicy kick to it. Amber was my server and also made the drink. She was awesome, friendly, helpful, and made a seriously good drink. It's called the Wasco Chopped Salad & the fresh lettuce is rather difficult to find under the plethora of amazing & delicious toppings: bacon, egg slices, diced tomato, and the most tender & perfectly-seasoned chicken breast! Every single bite was more yummy stuff than filler lettuce! And the blue cheese dressing was THE BEST- super thick & creamy & didn't overpower the salad. The only complaint we have is we needed more dressing;) This salad was SO good I had for leftovers the next day & it was just as amazing as the night before! We also ordered the Fried Pickles with our choices of ranch & garlic aoli dipping sauces. The pickles were huge spears coated in a crunchy batter! The only complaint about these guys were we couldn't wait for them to cool & almost burnt our mouths;) We also ordered the Pretzel Bites with our choices of mustard & beer cheese sauce. The server gave us a sample of the Dill Pickle Gose beer & wow! We were nervous about drinking dill pickle beer, but this had a refreshing pickle taste! So much so that we took a 4-pack home!

The burger was good, pretty solid, nothing special to note. The fries were really good and it seems like their sweet potato waffle fries are really popular, we saw them on almost every table. The Caesar was a very large portion, but a little too heavily dressed. It was also not a super flavorful dressing. Overall, this is a solid option if you are in town!

It was also in the middle of a heat wave in OR, so we asked to sit outside. After my husband snagged our table, I brought our well-trained and well-behaved Siberian with us to the patio. There was another poorly-behaved dog, but my dog could not have cared any less, and it was far enough away that it didn't bother me too much either. The outdoor seating was minimal and basic, but did the job. Thankfully there was shade from the umbrellas. I put my dog in his "tuck" command under me as he is trained to do at restaurants, and proceeded to look at the menu. To be honest, the food looked pretty good, and also smelled pretty good, as I watched other patrons get their meals. However, we were still pretty stuffed, so we settled with a beer flight. The beers were out to our table pretty quickly, but after trying them, my husband and I came to the consensus that we expected more from the only brewing company in town. As another Yelper put it, the beers fell flat for us too. I was hoping there would be more/different notes to each beer, which is the whole point of sampling multiple, but they all seemed quite monotone. It started getting pretty warm underneath our umbrella, so we quickly wrapped up our beer flight and left. The view was gorgeous, and the location splendid (hence the 4 stars), and perhaps next time I'd be down to try one of their dishes, specifically the elkburger, but I was a little disappointed in the beer. I've been to plenty of breweries to enjoy beers there and also bought craft beers/growlers for home, so I'd like to say I'm decently versed in beer, but this missed the mark.
