    ELK BURGER*
    Matt A.

We stopped here after sledding on the mountain for lunch. The service was friendly, our server was accommodating and food came out quickly. I ordered an elk burger, which was delicious and tastes very similar to beef. The unexpected highlight of the meal was the steelhead salmon dip. Wow! Best salmon dip I've ever had; I wish I could get the recipe and make it at home! Also, since it's a brewery, I should mention that I ordered an amber ale and loved every drop of it. I'd love to see a red ale on their menu one of these days!

3.8 Cool exterior and interior (slight odor when first walking into establishment). Did not allow outdoor seating on day of our visit. Service was friendly. Ordered the Smokey BBQ burger - cooked well and very tasty!! Also had pretzel bites which were just okay; a little hard.

Nice spot to grab lunch after skiing or stopping in town. Servers were very friendly. Lots of seating. Food came pretty quick. The burger I got was great.

My $21 béchamel pizza with caramelized onions, bacon and pea shoots was simply a cheese pizza on thin pre-frozen crust. No one checked in.

    WINGS

Ordered wings to go and I was shocked seeing only three wings inside the box once I got home. I don't know how others feel but I felt like I was robbed to only get three wings after being charged by $18.

Stopped here on our way in town from a long drive. Beer was great! Shrimp tacos were freaking fabulous! My husband had the burger and it was good too!!!

    Smoked pork sandwich

Seated right away. Nice selection of beers and other drinks although the beers were a bit flat. The poutine, smoked pork sandwich, and Wagyu blend burger were good. The elk burger was on the rarer side for our liking. The bangers and mash were just ok.

Phlox tacos (they come with 3 but I was really hungry and forgot to take the picture)

Stopped through here while staying in Govy for the weekend. I had the Phlox tacos and the Ice Axe India Pale Ale. Both were pretty good! The real drink to have was the special Hazy though - talk about smooth! We had a group of 8 plus a baby and they were easily able to accommodate. The food came pretty quick too! I will say, it got busy toward the end and they took quite a while to bring the check... but that's the only negative! The rest was great!

Blackberry sour, oatmeal stout - on the bar's ice chiller

Delicious food - exactly what we were craving after 105 miles on the PCT. I was a little disappointed by the beer - the lager, oatmeal stout, and seasonal sour were good, but nothing to write home about. The bar was very cool - a chilled ice piece inset (not exactly sure what to call it) to keep your drinks cool. We went twice in one day, service at the bar was attentive without being overbearing, but our server for dinner seemed a little green.

Mt Hood Brewing makes beers of all kinds and also a cider. The flagship is an IPA that's been in rotation since 1992. They're all pretty alright beers in that none are bad, but then none are terribly memorable, either. There is a dry cider which was a nice change of pace. I didn't bother with the food thanks to the pricing, but a $12 flight of beer with six tasters is a pretty good deal. However, I was told that I could order fewer tasters at a reduced cost. If 6 taster beers cost $12, then my 4 tasters should cost $8, yet I was charged $10. It's only $2 but it matters. Service was solid otherwise. Restrooms are downstairs and clean. There's a back patio and regular indoor table and bar seating.

Great service, great drinks, and the best pizza I've had in decades!…read more The beers Backwoods makes are all delicious and smooth-drinking. The service staff was all exceptional. But the pizza! Off the charts!, FULL REVIEW of all Services: If anyone who enjoys hiking, river fishing, or just a general outdoor-focused vacation wants a good, simple getaway with their spouse/loved one, check out the Backwoods brand in Carson, Washington (just north-northeast of Bridge of the Gods/Cascades Locks). Backwoods Cabins offers a really great overnight stay option. The 8 cabins there are all basic "two-room" designs (bedroom and attached bathroom, and a living room / mini-kitchen room). The cabins sport king-sized beds, a gas fireplace and outdoor fire, a mini kitchen with refrigerator/freezer and microwave (no stove/range). I think 3 of the 8 cabins welcome dogs. The Backwoods brand also owns Backwoods Brewery, which is just across the road from the cabin property. They have great microbrew beers (from light lagers to GREAT stouts!). The brewery also has a smokehouse, with fantastic smoked brisket, pulled pork, and house-made sausage/brats. But even better, the Backwoods Brewery offers the BEST PIZZA I've had in decades. The pizza dough is a perfect balance of flavor and texture. It's not too thin and not too thick. The crust is chewy in the middle, with a great crusty edge and base. The red sauce (they also have a white sauce we didn't try) is thick and rich, with a few tomato chunks. It's got a slight spicy bite with a sweet finish. They also have some unique house pizzas. We tried the Whistle Punk - Red sauce, bacon, smoked brisket, peppadew peppers, sweet onions, fresh mozzarella rounds - and the Pepperoni Express - Red sauce, pepperoni, mushrooms, tomatoes, banana peppers, smoked mozzarella. Both were outstanding. I'd go so far as to say both Donna and I deemed these the best pizzas we've had in 35+ years (noting that our first date was at a pizza joint in Fife we both thought was the best-ever pizza). If you stay in the Backwoods Cabins, you get two coupons for free drinks at the brewery (beer/wine/cider/cocktails) as well as an assortment of snacks for your hiking adventures, and a full S'mores kit to use over the gas fire pit. And if you are in a dog-friendly cabin, you get complimentary treats, and water/food bowls for your canines.

Tried the Tree Hugger 10" GF pizza and it was genuinely tasty. The crust? So good. The staff? Kind. The price? About $20, which felt a little "ouch," but the pizza did not, and that's what matters. The place was fun and great ambiance. Take a fun trip and go try this place out.

It was seasoned perfectly. The pita bread was perfect and didn't fall apart or crumble and held the juices from the lamb and the Greek tzatziki sauce perfectly. The fries!! OMG the fries!! I've never tasted fries anything like them. They were squiggly not curly. They had a light seasoning and were the best quality and texture perfectly crisped in the frier. My husband ordered the margharita pizza and it lacked seasoning to be honest. The sauce needed garlic and the basil didn't have enough flavor. My husband really liked it but agreed it needed more seasoning. I was a little disappointed not to get a soda refill and our waitress was a little busy as the lunch crowd started filling up the restaurant. To be fair we sat outside so we were unaware that it was getting busy inside. I definitely will rerun for the gyro (I've nicknamed it the crack sandwich) and will highly recommend it. Ironic for a place that serves lots of skiers and mountain bikers (Get it?). Service is slow. Food is mediocre. Tap list is mostly fruity things or CBD whatevers. Very little beer for "public house". It's called the Wasco Chopped Salad & the fresh lettuce is rather difficult to find under the plethora of amazing & delicious toppings: bacon, egg slices, diced tomato, and the most tender & perfectly-seasoned chicken breast! Every single bite was more yummy stuff than filler lettuce! And the blue cheese dressing was THE BEST- super thick & creamy & didn't overpower the salad. The only complaint we have is we needed more dressing;) This salad was SO good I had for leftovers the next day & it was just as amazing as the night before! We also ordered the Fried Pickles with our choices of ranch & garlic aoli dipping sauces. The pickles were huge spears coated in a crunchy batter! The only complaint about these guys were we couldn't wait for them to cool & almost burnt our mouths;) We also ordered the Pretzel Bites with our choices of mustard & beer cheese sauce. The server gave us a sample of the Dill Pickle Gose beer & wow! We were nervous about drinking dill pickle beer, but this had a refreshing pickle taste! So much so that we took a 4-pack home!
