    ELK BURGER*
    Matt A.

We stopped here after sledding on the mountain for lunch. The service was friendly, our server was accommodating and food came out quickly. I ordered an elk burger, which was delicious and tastes very similar to beef. The unexpected highlight of the meal was the steelhead salmon dip. Wow! Best salmon dip I've ever had; I wish I could get the recipe and make it at home! Also, since it's a brewery, I should mention that I ordered an amber ale and loved every drop of it. I'd love to see a red ale on their menu one of these days!

3.8 Cool exterior and interior (slight odor when first walking into establishment). Did not allow outdoor seating on day of our visit. Service was friendly. Ordered the Smokey BBQ burger - cooked well and very tasty!! Also had pretzel bites which were just okay; a little hard.

Nice spot to grab lunch after skiing or stopping in town. Servers were very friendly. Lots of seating. Food came pretty quick. The burger I got was great.

My $21 béchamel pizza with caramelized onions, bacon and pea shoots was simply a cheese pizza on thin pre-frozen crust. No one checked in.

    WINGS

Ordered wings to go and I was shocked seeing only three wings inside the box once I got home. I don't know how others feel but I felt like I was robbed to only get three wings after being charged by $18.

Stopped here on our way in town from a long drive. Beer was great! Shrimp tacos were freaking fabulous! My husband had the burger and it was good too!!!

    Smoked pork sandwich

Seated right away. Nice selection of beers and other drinks although the beers were a bit flat. The poutine, smoked pork sandwich, and Wagyu blend burger were good. The elk burger was on the rarer side for our liking. The bangers and mash were just ok.

Blackberry sour, oatmeal stout - on the bar's ice chiller

Delicious food - exactly what we were craving after 105 miles on the PCT. I was a little disappointed by the beer - the lager, oatmeal stout, and seasonal sour were good, but nothing to write home about. The bar was very cool - a chilled ice piece inset (not exactly sure what to call it) to keep your drinks cool. We went twice in one day, service at the bar was attentive without being overbearing, but our server for dinner seemed a little green.

Phlox tacos (they come with 3 but I was really hungry and forgot to take the picture)

Stopped through here while staying in Govy for the weekend. I had the Phlox tacos and the Ice Axe India Pale Ale. Both were pretty good! The real drink to have was the special Hazy though - talk about smooth! We had a group of 8 plus a baby and they were easily able to accommodate. The food came pretty quick too! I will say, it got busy toward the end and they took quite a while to bring the check... but that's the only negative! The rest was great!

Place is pretty cool. Beer selection is limited but decent. Food is very pricey. But there is a 3% culinary charge on top of all order to give the kitchen. In other words they are putting more in the customer to pay wages then just taking the responsibility of paying them themselves as a business. It's already pricey. No reason for this. It's like a separate tax. So now on top of tipping , it's really expensive to enjoy simple pub food. Plus I had to get up twice. Ask for napkins and another rounds of drinks and our check . It's like we were forgotten about. But of course they want a tip and now a culinary tax

Great service, great drinks, and the best pizza I've had in decades!…read more The beers Backwoods makes are all delicious and smooth-drinking. The service staff was all exceptional. But the pizza! Off the charts!, FULL REVIEW of all Services: If anyone who enjoys hiking, river fishing, or just a general outdoor-focused vacation wants a good, simple getaway with their spouse/loved one, check out the Backwoods brand in Carson, Washington (just north-northeast of Bridge of the Gods/Cascades Locks). Backwoods Cabins offers a really great overnight stay option. The 8 cabins there are all basic "two-room" designs (bedroom and attached bathroom, and a living room / mini-kitchen room). The cabins sport king-sized beds, a gas fireplace and outdoor fire, a mini kitchen with refrigerator/freezer and microwave (no stove/range). I think 3 of the 8 cabins welcome dogs. The Backwoods brand also owns Backwoods Brewery, which is just across the road from the cabin property. They have great microbrew beers (from light lagers to GREAT stouts!). The brewery also has a smokehouse, with fantastic smoked brisket, pulled pork, and house-made sausage/brats. But even better, the Backwoods Brewery offers the BEST PIZZA I've had in decades. The pizza dough is a perfect balance of flavor and texture. It's not too thin and not too thick. The crust is chewy in the middle, with a great crusty edge and base. The red sauce (they also have a white sauce we didn't try) is thick and rich, with a few tomato chunks. It's got a slight spicy bite with a sweet finish. They also have some unique house pizzas. We tried the Whistle Punk - Red sauce, bacon, smoked brisket, peppadew peppers, sweet onions, fresh mozzarella rounds - and the Pepperoni Express - Red sauce, pepperoni, mushrooms, tomatoes, banana peppers, smoked mozzarella. Both were outstanding. I'd go so far as to say both Donna and I deemed these the best pizzas we've had in 35+ years (noting that our first date was at a pizza joint in Fife we both thought was the best-ever pizza). If you stay in the Backwoods Cabins, you get two coupons for free drinks at the brewery (beer/wine/cider/cocktails) as well as an assortment of snacks for your hiking adventures, and a full S'mores kit to use over the gas fire pit. And if you are in a dog-friendly cabin, you get complimentary treats, and water/food bowls for your canines.

Gluten free review:…read more Came here after a hike because I believe in balance, climb a hill, eat a pizza. Thrilled they had gluten-free options. Tried the Tree Hugger 10" GF pizza and it was genuinely tasty. The crust? So good. The staff? Kind. The price? About $20, which felt a little "ouch," but the pizza did not, and that's what matters. The place was fun and great ambiance. Take a fun trip and go try this place out.

They have a nice patio area with a few (4-5) tables that are covered. We got there super early and opted to sit outside since the weather was so nice. The service was fantastic and our waitress was super friendly. We discovered that she has ties to KC so I always love that. I started with an Adeline blackberry sour. It's pretty to look at and so delicious to drink. Sours in Oregon are hands down the best. I wish we had more of it in KC but I highly recommend that you get sours and ciders if you're in the PNW. For lunch I ordered the Club Sandwich: Sweetheart ham, hickory-smoked turkey, Tillamook white cheddar, Applewood smoked bacon; topped with lettuce, tomato, chipotle mayo. It normally comes on sourdough but I swapped it out for ciabatta. First off, it's a HUGE club sandwich. Lots of meat that had amazing flavor. Not some sad deli sandwich at all. The ciabatta had great chew and complemented the sandwich perfectly. No complaints here! Did I eat it all? Yes, and that was a great plan because it kept me going for the next 24 hours that ended up being a cluster that resulted in no food being available. Sandwiches come with chips or a garden salad but I opted for a different side with an up charge. Let's talk about the Oregon Blue Salad: spring mix, dried cranberries, honeycrisp apples, Rogue Creamery Oregon Blue crumbles, and maple candied walnuts; tossed in an apple cider vinaigrette. So GOOD! You can get it by itself and it would make a great meal. Everything was so fresh. Again, not a single complaint. If you are ever in the area, please stop in. Everything was amazing and I can't wait until I return. Double Mountain is on my list to come back to! Highly recommend!

The food was delicious; each of us ordered something different and everyone was very happy with their meal. I got the salmon fish and chips, and it was SO good. I'm so used to fish and chips being made with cod or other white fish, so this was a fun change. Despite being a pub, this place is family-friendly. The kid's menu was perfect for my little nephew, and my sister was very pleased with the quality of his burger meat and the fact that you can sub fries for veggie sticks for kiddos. Came here as a direct result of a recommendation by a fellow Yelper when looking for good brewpubs…read more So made a stop in Hood River for lunch during our 3 day trip to Portland, after seeing some waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge. Full Sail is a very well respected micro brewery, founded in 1987 and the first craft brewery in the Pacific Northwest to bottle its beer. It's flagship Amber has won numerous awards, including recently in 2025 a Gold Medal at the NY International Beer Competition (along with the brewery being named Oregon Brewery of the Year). It has a large line-up of beers brewed inhouse There is a large paid parking lot across the street at $1.25 per hour, payable via credit card through nearby kiosks. Once entering, there is a long hallway, walking past the working areas of the brewery, until getting to the restaurant area. It has views of I-84, and further the Columbia River. The outdoor patio was not open (drizzling outside), and it was pretty crowded inside but we got lucky to be seated at a table near windows with a view. There have lunch and happy hour specials during weekdays. The lunch special is 1/2 of a sandwich (grilled cheese this day) along with a cup of their soup of the day (tomato). I was super excited about the Amber, so got a pint of that ($8) and pint of the Queen Wheat ($8). My wife enjoyed the Queen Wheat but didn't care for the Amber. I really liked the Amber, making me realize why I had drunk so much of that style earlier in my life when in Wisconsin, before switching over to wheat beer. There selection of beer is great, and a flight is the way to go ($18 of 6 5oz samplers). Buffalo Hot Wings ($17) - a decent amount of simply deep fried hot wings in a classic Frank's red hot buffalo sauce. Pretzel Bread Sticks ($13) - 4 large, warmed pretzels. Should have gotten the beer cheese to go with it. Salmon Fish & Chips ($20) - 3 small pieces of beer battered salmon, very dense and definitely tasting of wild caught salmon. It came with good fries and a really good, fresh cole slaw. There is a small refrigerator stocked with cans of certain beers for sale. Unfortunately, we were dismissively told that they were out of the Amber bottles for sale. So after our meal, went to the front to purchase directly from the front staff. Their Japanese rice beer from their Session lineup ($10 for a six pack) was available and what we brought back home with us.
