Their ciders are great, I tried the Viking Cherry Cider and loved it so much I bought a six pack to take home, at $18 for 6 it was still absolutely well worth it. For food my coworker got the Fish and Chips, deep fried in beef tallow for those who avoid seed oils, and said it was excellent. I had a caesar salad and fries to go with my cider and it was a lovely meal. This will absolutely be one of our go-to spots when in Salem from now on. read more

Some of the best scotch eggs I have ever had! The service was friendly; note that there is no table service, so you'll need to order at the bar. The inside atmosphere is sports bar fabulous plenty of seating for groups or couples. We shared a juicy hazy IPA and an order of scotch eggs while sitting on the patio, which is shaded and comfortable with both picnic tables and bar-top seating. I was thrilled to find that the scotch eggs were not only delicious but also authentically prepared. The yolk was soft and slightly runny, and the crust was perfectly crisp and flavorful. This establishment is a true hidden gem. While the food prices are a little steep, the quality definitely makes it worthwhile. We will be back! read more

Tried for the first time the other night for dinner. Very casual spot, order at the bar and given a number. Staff was all kind and attentive. It was packed, especially for a Wednesday night. It didn't take long to see why. The food is amazing! We got the scotch eggs and they were cooked perfectly and the mustard sauce paired well. The poutine was wonderful as well. The fish and chips, fish was fresh and flaky and seasoned well. The fries were hot and seasoned. My husband said the bangers and mash were really good also. Stopped on our way to visit my grandparents and discovered this cute little spot. They have 16 beers on tap plus 4 cask beers, offering a large variety. The venue has a very English vibe and is a lot of fun. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. While the beer overall was a bit "meh" for me (I'm an IPA fan), I did find some hidden gems: Lady Embers for its smoky flavor, The Bramble for its fruity and refreshing taste, and my favorite--Bloody Hell IPA. First time in. We had been wanting to trying last time we came by they were closed. The inside is cute. Loved the decor. You order at the bar because it is a bar. We ordered the sausage roll which was very good. I was not a fan of the chips but over all very good. I had the fish and English chips. The fish was outstanding. My husband ordered the bangers and mash with a side of mushy peas. Again outstanding meal. My son ordered the Royale with cheese. This is why they only got 4 stars. The burger was lacking had they made it fresh it would have been great but he could tell it was a frozen patty. Over all it was a good experience. They have a happy hour menu from about 11-6 PM and plenty of burgers, sandwiches and British pub food. My friends devoured their Ruben and burger. But when it came to the British pub food, my husband and I thought it needed an extra bit of something. Definitely just needed more seasoning beforehand like salt on the fish since it was haddock and the bangers and mash needed to be more acidic. I didn't notice it until the next day too that when I ordered my fish and chips I thought I ordered their smaller version but they charged me the more expensive one - so make sure to clarify when you are ordering. Yes, that means some of them are served warmer than typical American brews, but don't let that throw you off--every beer we tried was full of flavor and really well-crafted. The variety was impressive, especially with so many British-style options, which you don't see often, especially at breweries here. The cider was also great, and the food followed the same theme: classic British-style pub fare. Just something to keep in mind--if you're into that, you'll love it. If not, the beer alone is worth the visit. OK, gotcha my husband went up to order and asked the bartender to clean the table. It had been used previously. She got kind of snotty about it. Didn't believe him that it was dirty. I was looking for a dog friendly spot to grab food and drink. Found this pub. They have inside and outside seating. You can sit outside with your dog, but you do have to go inside to order. Initially I wanted something else, but they were out of both items I wanted. I had the fried cod and fries and shared the Mac and cheese instead. My partner and I have been coming to Santiam pretty much every Wednesday for the past nine months (our mid-week date as she lives in Eugene and I'm in Clark County). In that time, we've managed to eat just about everything on the menu (most many times) and have had most of the tap selections. First, the bad (not much!). The general area this place is in does not initially instill great confidence. It's in an out of the way industrial flex park. But parking is always easy even if the area gives off odd pub vibes. Also, sometimes they can get very really backed up because of staffing. While the staff there are GREAT (super friendly and generally quick), one larger party can make things really slow down at the bar (where all business must be transacted - they don't come out and take orders). And that's really it for the bad. Now for the good. The owner obviously has a thing for English-style pubs. Most of the food menu could come out of a typical London pub. The savory pies, rarebit, fish & chips, scotch eggs, sticky toffee pudding. It's all excellent. But there is also a lot of American style food, with burgers and sandwiches. Our go-to has been the cascade harvest salad (with roasted chicken). It's great with the candied filberts. We've matched it up with some much less healthy, such as the reuben fries, poutine, fish & chips, or a savory pie. They typically have a few desserts that are also very nice. For the beers, I have typically gone with non-IPA beers (although they obviously have some IPAs because who doesn't). They have a rum coconut stout that is pretty heavy, as well as a nice porter. They also have a few ciders, which appeal to my partner (especially a relatively dry cider). However, the highlight of the tap selection is the cask beers. They generally have 3-4 cask beers on tap, which is absolutely amazing! Pretty much nowhere in Portland can you find a pub with that many cask options. If you don't mind the slightly warmer temperature, I strongly suggest you try a cask option if available. The taste is different from your normal kegged beers, , often a bit more mellow than the regular versions (they will often have the same beers available as cask or non-cask), but much fuller and well rounded. But wow, this is one of the big selling features of Santiam in my eyes. One other thing. They have a big "speakeasy" style room. While it is often reserved for group events, it is open to anyone if not reserved and is a super cool place to chill. You won't know you're sipping pints in a flex space park to be sure! Just be sure to ask the bartender if a group is scheduled so you don't get booted out at some point. read more

I have never been to the UK but it looked like I imagine the pubs there look. Poutine isn't an item you see on a lot of menus here, so when it is on a menu I order it. I loved it! They didn't actually bring the right poutine out but I ate it anyway and it was delicious. I also ordered a salad to balance out my meal. My husband had the fish and chips and liked it.
