I went to the Thursday Open Mic evening last night and had a delightful time. What a friendly, open group of people. Good sound system, intimate setting, enthusiastic, and supportive group. They are gracious in that they let anyone new go early in the evening. If you want a good venue where you can play your music (two songs), this is an excellent choice. The signup is at 5:30 and I suggest getting there early since there is a crowd surrounding the signup sheet. Clearly, this is one of the best open mic venues in the Portland area. read more

A great place to grab a cider or craft beer. With several food trucks in the back, you can definitely find a decent t meal to go with your drink. They also have open mic entertainment and local musical acts on some nights, making it a great community gathering place. Towards the end of April 2026, I planned and hosted a private event here for my husband's birthday and unfortunately left very disappointed with the food portion of the experience, especially considering the pricing. To be transparent, there were definitely positives! The staff assisting with setup and during the event were kind and helpful, the beverages and fruit were well received, and the venue itself worked well for our event. It allowed us enough space to spread out and have various areas for different activities. However, the food quality and overall value did not align with what had been discussed beforehand. The croissant sandwiches included on those boards were minimally filled and very underwhelming for the cost, and the desserts served were not what we discussed and agreed upon during planning. Several desserts were also largely untouched by guests (or to be frank, one bite taken and then thrown in the trash). What ultimately disappointed me the most, though, was how my feedback was handled afterward. I reached out privately in hopes of having a constructive conversation and I was initially offered a partial refund. However that offer was later withdrawn after the owner reviewed event footage and determined that "because food had been consumed/taken home," our concerns were not valid. Of course we took food home, we paid for it! In my opinion, guests eating food at a hosted event does not automatically mean the quality met expectations. I fully understand that no event is perfect, and I tried to approach the situation reasonably and directly before posting publicly. Unfortunately, the overall experience and response left me feeling dismissed rather than heard as a paying customer. read more

I have mixed feelings on this. The place itself is very cute and charming. It's also a great space to host events. They specialize in beer and cider like so many other places already do. They DO offer wine but you have to purchase an entire bottle. That's not too bad but they don't have wine glasses and we were told it's because "that's not their thing". Okay. They don't do cocktails other than well drinks so I ordered a basic vodka soda with a splash of cranberry. It was bottom shelf vodka and fountain soda and cran. $13 before asking for a tip. I thought that was over the top considering that's the same cost as a nice margarita in a bar that makes cocktails. For events and if you live close by I'm sure this is fine. I'm definitely never ordering drinks here again. read more

I came here with my date to try some ciders. We both are cider fans so it was fun to try all the different flavors with a flight each. I was a huge fan of the pineapple habanero. We were told the cider is made in house and you can get them to go in a growler if you like. They have food trucks on site but we had eaten previously at the sushi restaurant across the street. We hosted our fantasy football draft at WACH last night and it was the perfect spot! The atmosphere was awesome -- plenty of space for our group, great beer and cider options, and the staff made sure everything ran smoothly. Having the big screen available for our draft board took the whole experience to another level. Everyone in our league agreed this was one of the best draft nights we've ever had, and the venue was a big reason why. If you're looking for a fun, relaxed place to host an event, hang out with friends, or just enjoy some drinks, I can't recommend WACH enough. We'll definitely be back next year! read more

Checked out Ale & Cider House for their ciders. They're right by Kelly's Tacos Food Truck. We dropped in on a Friday afternoon (3:15pm). The bartender was friendly and let us sample a few ciders before deciding. 16 ciders on tap (15 Queen Orchard, one 2 Towns Ciderhouse) along with 13 beers. Cider bottles were $18.00 USD in-store, but on sale online for $14.00 USD. - Cider flight ($10.00 USD for four 5oz) - spicy pineapple, mango, cranberry hibiscus and passionfruit guava cocktail (13%)! Flavours were solid with good fruit flavour. The cocktail was a bit overwhelming, tasted aged in rum. Would come back to A&CH for more ciders. read more

We attended a work Christmas party in the event space at the Ale & Cider House located in West Linn. We ended up parking in the street, but there seems to be a small dedicated parking area for the Cider house. The event space was beautiful and you could definitely host a variety of events from a reception to Christmas parties! The ladies helping with food and drinks were extremely nice and helpful throughout our time there. The food we had was a nacho bar and it was perfect for the event and fresh! The taphouse had endless drink options for those who enjoy school. While they had a few nonalcoholic bottles beverages I wished that they had some root beer or other soda on tap. They only had a small amount of diet cokes that were quickly gone. I would definitely recommend this space for future events and will be back with friends for a round of drinks! read more

Ann was so incredibly helpful in helping us choose the right space for our event needs (we were in the Beer Garden - highly recommend), ironing out all the details ahead of our event, and arranging everything we needed for food so we didn't have to worry about it. They even opened early to accommodate our preferred event time. As far as day-of, the staff were exceptional and the event went off without a hitch. I've been frequenting the open mic on Thursdays for several years with my kids, we get up and perform and have witnessed it become a local institution - rich with willing and welcoming musicians and audience - and beautiful generational diversity. What a fabulous place! The owner Anne is the best , most accommodating host I have ever had the pleasure of working with. We chose this venue for our reunion get-together. We had a small turnout with about 54 people. She did a buffet with excellent pulled pork, macaroni and cheese, charcuterie, desserts, etc. Everyone loved it. The venue was in the back with access to the outdoors. It was perfect! I loved it being casual and relaxed. We had food left over and we were provided with take out containers. How cool is that? I like cider as much as the next gal, but I wasn't sure a place that primarily dishes out cider and with limited food options, could stand up to the hype I'd been receiving. With that said, it was well regarded and I'm always game to try new places near my hood. Upon entering the ciderhouse we were immediately welcomed and greeted by staff. The place is quirky and inviting. If cider is your thing or you just want to try something new, this place must be visited. They have an entire wall of ciders and some pretty intriguing flavors. By far the most clean, refreshing and oh so yummy cider I have ever had. We sampled a pineapple, lime and a spicy cider. All FANTASTIC!!! I was torn between trying the spicy or lime and the bartender recommended mixing the two. It was so perfectly balanced and not sweet at all. I had no idea cider could be so versatile in flavor. They don't serve food but occasionally have food trucks and they partner with Bellagios pizza and they can bring food. The wait is finally over and WACH is officially open! After several soft opening events for the community, the grand opening on Friday was absolutely packed. The overflow of patrons gave a nice bump to the surrounding restaurants and bars which made for a busy night in the historic Willamette neighborhood. Not too bad for a chilly winter's night. For the anglophiles out there, you will be amused by the royal theme running throughout the menu as well as the brickwork and decorating flourishes inside the space. I particularly enjoy the arched ceilings covered with coasters by the bar and a coat of arms at the end of the (kind of spooky) hallway leading to the loo. The King's Tavern Tap List has more ciders on the list (14) than beers (12) at the moment. Huzzah! Most servings are 16oz. and reasonably priced at $5-6. There are also two wines and one nitro tap available. http://www.aleandcider.com/taproom.html The cafe component offers a modest selection of items from the Queen's Breakfast menu from 7 - 11am. The Duke's Appetizers, Duchess Salads, and King's Sandwiches are available from 11am to Close. They are also a family friendly spot with a few Prince and Princess meals for the young ones. I ordered the Duchess Smoked Chicken Salad Sandwich which came with a side of chips. It was tasty but rather basic. The final element of the business is a coffee bar. While the food items seem priced on the high side, the beer, cider, and coffee are all more reasonable, including Queen's Dollar Coffee. WACH is housed in a large building that was Willamette's old general store. It is a sprawling structure, and you can see they are already creating some private rooms and nooks that have the opportunity of becoming fun little spaces. Right now the front bar and back cafe spaces are a bit disjointed and quite loud although the light jazz music is a nice touch. The risk of visiting a business when they first open is that there are almost always service issues and the business is still in the process of figuring out what works and what needs adjustments. In that vein, I'll offer a couple of suggestions: ** Offer beer/cider samplers and flights. The benefit of having so many taps is allowing your customers to experiment with new offerings. ** The seating could use a little adjustment (e.g. short chairs at tall tables). This will probably be adjusted as you see the ratio of small to large groups or families, but the flow seemed a bit odd. ** Doesn't appear that there is table service and I ended up ordering food from the kitchen in the back then going to the bar for a drink. ** Consider having a game cubby so friends or families can play a game while they eat & drink. ** It sounds like the bottleshop element of the business is coming. read more

This could easily be a 4 star joint for what it is, but our experience was...well, mixed. We'll go back, though, and give it another try. Food: Good. The menu is limited and not very exciting, but Dover pasta was surprisingly good. Chicken pot pie was flavorful, but the puff pastry crust was undercooked. Cheese plate was fine, but uninspired. Drink: I had a cider that was tasty, but we left before I could try anything else. Music/Ambience: OMG! I was ready to throw the guy $20 to stop his horrible performance. How does pub management let this happen? We left before dessert or another drink because we couldn't take it anymore. The layout is also confusing to a newcomer on a busy night. Sit down, to find a menu, try to read the drink board, order in one of a couple places, but you have to get up and order at the bar for additional items. Service was gracious enough, and if I was a regular, the flow of the place would be intuitive. It's just hard when your first time in is a Friday night with birthday parties and horrible, loud live music. It's a cute joint, though, and I'd go back for happy hour or lunch when I hope it would be calmer and no old guy destroying a guitar at max volume while singing monotone, outdated tunes. Loved this little place tucked along the row of charming shops and restaurants in West Linn. I stumbled upon this little town heading out of Portland and am so glad I did! I enjoyed strolling the main street and could've chosen any of the little restaurants for a bite, but I was drawn to the Ale House b/c it just had a friendly vibe with an inviting sidewalk dining area. I tried a few ciders, but couldn't land easily on one that I liked, so I just went with a glass of house wine. If you enjoy hard ciders, this is your place! So many to choose from, many produced in-house. Impressive. And for a bite, I ordered the crab cake appetizer. I'm so glad I did. Some of the best I think I've ever had! Know the system here: place your drink and food order at the bar (& be assertive, one bartender passed me over for a more assertive party of 4 who came in after me!) order coffee at the separate coffee bar. What a great place for an event. We had my son's wedding celebration here, with family and friends from Oregon and out of state and everything was perfect! The manager was incredibly helpful and accommodating and her staff was friendly, helpful and efficient. They provided food, alcohol and non-alcohol drinks and set out the cake with everything we needed. We had a DJ who had all he needed to set up and we had space for dancing. It was a wonderful party and everyone had a great time, thanks in large part to their event space. read more
