I miss these kinds of places. - I just moved back home from Texas, and one thing they don't have, is roast beef / seafood places. - So, I was happy to go here today for lunch. And it's good. Just seems expensive to me. - It's a super casual place. The kind of place you'd go to for lunch as a kid when you have a half-day on Thursdays because that's when the teachers had their school-wide meetings. - There's some seating inside, and a smattering of picnic tables out front. Some are in the shade, some aren't. There's a neat fountain out front, but you're still sitting right near the busy street, so it's a little hectic-feeling. - They get pretty busy here, and there isn't a lot of room up at the counter. I was early, so there was no rush. It took them awhile to make my order - a roast beef sandwich with cheese, sauce, mayo and fries, but it was good. They didn't give me my drink, so I just grabbed a bottle from the fridge. It's cramped up there to get your napkins and stuff, and they don't sell chips, which I thought was odd. - The roast beef sandwich was good, it was just what I wanted. Big and messy. Almost worth another star, but, not quite. - It was on the expensive side - lunch ran me about 12 bucks. That's kind of a lot! - I liked it, but I don't think I'll be a regular here. Bentley's is one of my go to spots. They have much more than roast beef sandwiches, although i highly recommend getting one. They do 3 different sizes and have onion rolls. Some of my other favorite items are the greek fries (strak fries win garlic, feta and herbs), steak & cheese sub & the chicken bomb. Every meal i have gotten here had been tasty. We usually eat there, there is plenty of seating in and outside. Food comes quickly and portions are large. I'm hoping to try he lobster roll soon. $15.99 and it's huge. read more

Best roast beef sandwich I've ever had. I can elaborate on the rest, but that's the bottom line. Someone should tell Guy Fieri to bring his Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives TV show down here! It really was amazing, best in class for a local unique eatery. Fresh house made roatbeef with house made horse radish and all local grown ingredients; it's just delicious. The spot is a tiny little drive up with about a dozen tables, so good for quick sit down or take out (they have take out windows). It was clean, well kempt, and the staff was very friendly. Even on my first trip they talked me through their options, helping me to a delicious conclusion! I read most of the reviews and they were nearly all outstanding, but to those who didn't rate this joint at least a 4, they are crazy. This place is great, simply delicious, and spot on for what you look for when you stop down. For those that have read my reviews, i rarely hand out 5's, and this one was easy. Don't make the mistake of thinking this is just a roast beef sandwich place. They have a big menu and everything is consistently good. I've been coming here for years. It's a small family owned eatery and one of my favorite local places to eat. The owners are very friendly and it's much much much better than any of the typical fast food franchises nearby. They have picnic tables so you can eat outside. It's a good place to take the kids (or your furry friends) cause there is plenty of room outside. They have seating inside too but I think that's not open due to covid-19. Been here many times and will come back many times more. The Giant Roast Beef and the Haddock Sub Sandwich are two of my favorites. ...Oh and the homemade baklava is pretty awesome too. Just ordered food at Bentley's roast beef. I realized that my online order did not go through. I went inside and ordered and paid for my food. I then checked my bank account and realized I just paid for my food twice. I brought it to the attention of the cashier who asked the owner about it. The owner then yelled at me. Told me there is nothing he can do about it. His online orders go through a third party. He said he won't actually get the money. He said he could call the third party for me. He was not kind or polite. He was yelling, rude and acted like he'd be doing me a favor. We've actually been ordering a lot from them and been spending a lot of money there. I'm sad to say that we won't be able to order from them anymore. I've never been treated so rudely in a food establishment. I wasn't rude and I never raised my voice. I simply asked why I was charged twice. I was honestly shocked at how quickly the owner angered to a simple question. Yelling at me in front of a restaurant full of customers. Let me start off by saying GREAT FOOD. Fresh and cooked/prepared just the way its supposed to. (Two stars) I've been here now about 5 times and what I've gathered is this--the pricing here really depends on: 1. who's checking you out at the register/taking the order. 2. You'll likely get overcharged for your meal because of the unknown. Salads: whether you do things differently here at Bentley's or not salads "COME WITH DRESSING". I understand if you're asking for extra dressing then by all means--charge me for it, but If I order a salad and the price listed on your website is $7.75 for a greek salad and I walk away with a charge for close to $10--tax and additional charges were clearly added because I didn't ask for anything extra. Even if NH food tax was 12% my meal shouldn't be that price. I don't care how your business does things. Mark your menus with a disclaimer that states you're pricing can change for any reason at all and that you'll charge for standard condiments. I also got a sandwich and substituted said sandwich from the roll for bread slices and got charged for those.. Again, a sandwich that costs $5.99 on your site ended up turning into and $8.00 deal. I stress, its not the matter of dollars, its the principal. I only want to pay for what you advertise and if you do things differently, you need to let each and every one of us customers know. read more

We ordered dinner Saturday evening - 45 minute wait for a roast beef sandwich and fried clams. The beef sandwich was good - the meat was tender and flavorful. Our side of curly fries were lukewarm. The fried clams were overcooked and the portion on the smaller side considering there was an unadverstised up-charge for this entree. I will just stick with the roast beef next time. read more

It's called Bentley's Roast Beef, so that's what I tried. I've got to say that it was really good roast beef. They cut it fresh when I ordered my sandwich--it was nice and red, juicy and full of flavor. I would definitely go again and try some of the other menu items. I don't often review but I'm so horrifed by my order of food. The chicken tenders were burned to a crisp and I was not able to feed them to my kids. Fries had major freezer burn and we couldn't eat those either. My haddock plate was full of soggy onion rings. The haddock was old. The $19 lobster roll came with 5 freezer burned fries. Despite ordering online an hour before my 630 pickup...i had to wait for 30 minutes. Waste of $64 and if I didn't have two kids in the car waiting for 30 minutes I would've gone back. I usually love the food and recommend them to friends but not anymore. I've heard that the manager is extremely rude but never witnessed it. Today, I did and I will not be back. The online order system put my order in for the wrong time. After the employees weren't very helpful. I looked it up on my phone. I got a charge for the order. The manager talked down yo me and blamed me for the time discrepancy. He offered to make the food but said it would take a while because they were very busy. I had to get back to work so asked for a refund and he said no, take it up with the online order system which you can not reply to. It says to contact the business. I hope he enjoyed taking my money. I will never be back and I will confirm that he is very rude. This is no way to run a business. If you're going to take orders online, you better have a way to refund poor service! read more

AWESOME hot subs.........Rubens, steak, steak tips all are delicious, and stuffed with a huge amount of meat. Cold Roast Beef sub is also great. Great onion rings. Well, Bentley's delivers both of those...and, on top of that, they have good french fries and onion rings. The counter service is always friendly, if not always the fastest. The best part about visiting friends is when they take you to local gems like Bentley's. This place reminded me a bit of Spiedie's Rib Pit in Binghamton, but for roast beef. I am not a huge roast beef fan, but I got a roast beef sandwich with cheese and mustard....seriously delicious! Roll was soft and yummy, roast beef was PERFECT-- not stringy, dry, or bleeding all over everywhere. The fries were unbelievably good, I just couldn't stop eating them even though I was stuffed.
