This just might be my new favorite seafood restaurant. It looks very humble from the outside and very small but when you walk indoors there's tons of tables and it's very cozy. I stopped in for lunch. They are known for having lunch specials and the menu with lots of choices. They mostly have seafood obviously, but they also have other options in case you want to bring somebody with you who doesn't like seafood. I got the lunch special appetizer, which was like biscuit and gravy but instead of gravy it was lobster bisque with lobster meat on top. It was very good. For my my main course, I ordered a large plate of broiled scallops with a baked potato. It was delicious. read more

Terrible. I left a review on another platform and they disputed my claim thst the order was almost $60 for an absolutely terrible meal. Ordered a clam plate which had to have fries ordered separately and coleslaw order separately which is absolutely ridiculous and then I received the most disgusting 8 pieces of clam I've ever seen in my life. First we were at my sisters graduation and hungry after the three hours of commencement. The last hour was a frantic search on Yelp and Google to find a restaurant that was open after 7pm on Sunday, had CLAM chowder and at least 4 stars. I sent this spot to her while we waited and she literally was recommended the same spot by another classmate who had eaten there before graduation. So we pull up to this cute tiny little spot that was decked out in classic fisherman motif and was greeted and seated straightaway. Our server was prompt with menus and we ordered hot teas all around due to the storm SUNH grads brought in. Lol. Clam chowders were ordered, fisherman platter and seafood platter. OMG the serving size was humongous and the bread rolls were delicious. My sister loved her chowder and I have to say it was hitting. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Second time eating here. Absolutely best seafood and service. We were a party of 6. Their exhaust system went out and rather than smoking up the place they apologized and let us know they would not have any fried or grilled food. We'll, let me tell you, it didn't matter! Their baked fish is off the charts! The baked haddock was fresh, flaky with just the perfect amount of home made cracker topping. Scallops and shrimp the same. The lobster bisque was so creamy and full of lobster pieces. The steamed lobster, wow, just wow! Visiting friends in NH so had to find clam chowda and a lobster roll. Fun little spot to grab a bite after the movies. Very popular. Greeted and seated right away. Waters and drinks brought out quickly. As we were hungry ordered the pint of chowder and the jumbo lobster roll. The chowder was decent , not a lot of clams, but good, thick chowder. What a great find. We just landed at the airport at lunch time and were starving. We started looking for a lobster place. Wow! Local place crowded parking lot for take out but once parked, seating and service were quick. The menu is impressive and reading very page is important because the senior special is on the last page. My choice was the lobster roll w chowder and it was meaty, fresh and chilled. Chowder was so good w chunks and a broth that was just outstanding. Had a miserable experience here (our first time) on a slow Tuesday night, we were welcomed by a host and seated in a booth around 6:30pm right as we walked in. For the next 30 minutes we watched multiple servers engage with other tables multiple times, but nobody approached us to offer us drinks or take our order. At 7:00pm a busser clearing the table next to ours (can't remember if it was the same person who sat us) noticed we still had our menus and he brought over a server. My wife and I each ordered a drink, an appetizer, and an entree. Her appetizer, the chowder, came out right away, however mine, the lobster cake appetizer special, was brought to the table with my entree (not how I requested). We each requested a side of coleslaw with our food that didn't come out with our entrees, and needed to be requested again 10 minutes later when our server came to check in on our meals. Overall our food was a mixed experience, the chowder and fish and chips were both great, but the lobster cake special and cajun swordfish were muted in flavor. While the place is quaint and cute, the horrific level of service overall, mixed with some food selections that weren't great, left a negative experience for us, and I don't foresee us giving this place a second chance any time soon. read more

I am absolutely in love with their steamers, which are a New England must-have whenever possible. They serve generous portions and the staff are great, friendly, and funny, which I treasure. I almost forgot to review this. On our way back from Manchester NH, we stopped at this restaurant to try their lobster. Lobsters are always good to eat while you're up in the New England area. Lobsters live happily fresh there. So this restaurant has stuffed lobster yay! We ordered the 2.5-pound stuffed lobster and fried clam bellies. The lobster came with steamed broccoli, which was what I wanted for my side dish. We asked Liz, the waitress, about the lobster and preparation, and she was knowledgeable about the menu. We liked both of what we ordered. They were pretty good. The stuffed lobster had a nice seasoning. Clam belly was good, but I could do without it. The restaurant is a house look-alike place. We eat here fairly often, usually ordering fish. No matter what, it's always fresh, hot and tasty, with good portions for the price. The staff has been consistently excellent - pleasant and efficient, service with a smile. The restaurant itself is on the small side. Some of the seating is cramped. The decor is definitely unpretentious. Bathrooms could use an update or even just a really good cleaning. We have lived in Merrimack over 3 years and this was our first time at The Lobster Boat. It was a great experience! We were shocked when the waitress informed us they don't have mixed drinks!! Wine and beer only!!! We have never been to a restaurant that didn't serve alcohol!! Then after that major disappointment we wanted a diet coke, but they only had Pepsi!! Yuck!! I ordered the lobster bisque which was tasteless and the two pieces of lobster in it were cold in the middle!! I didn't even finish it! I then ordered the bay scallops which were okay, not great. The french fries were horrible! My husband got the mozzarella sticks and he said they were overcooked and tasteless! The service was slow and it took our waitress a while to take our order and to bring the check after we were done eating. I had the fish chowder and my husband had the potato skins for an appetizer. Both were good and appeared homemade. For dinner we split a fried seafood platter. The onion rings that came with the dinner were hard, overbattered, and tasteless. They provide a creamy and tasty horseradish sauce on the table for dipping which was good on the fries. The scallops and haddock were darkly fried and overdone. The shrimp and clams were cooked well and were quite good. The restaurant was busy so it does appear that they have regulars that enjoy the food but I don't think we'll be back. read more

Much larger than the ones I get down south, these came with broth (to rinse off the sand) & drawn butter. This was a HUGE helping. If I wasn't getting on a plane right after, I would've had plenty for dinner, too. The price was good, and the serving size was way more than this old man could finish.
