I've been going to Bentoz for 25 years since I worked nearby in the late 90's (wow, it's been a long time) and this place is a solid option for the area. There are not a lot of teriyaki options in this area of Portland, and would consider this one of the better ones. The rice is fresh, chicken quality is good and teriyaki sauce pretty good. Prices have definitely gone up, but this is the norm these days but you can still find a pretty decent lunch here for around $10. read more

It's a chill location, and a pretty decent place for yummy food as the cost of living increases and prices continue to surge on food this spring/summer 2023. my partner generally sticks to teriyaki chicken but I will say that this place definitely slaps when comparing their teriyaki recipe to other places in the portland area. There are a lot of teriyaki joints in this part of town. We've surprisingly tried a lot of them. This has become one of our faves. Though I guess it's not fair because they have bibimbap. We went with the spicy chicken w/ 2 gyoza, beef short ribs, and bibimbap. The food was pretty quick and there were a constant stream of people at the weird hour of 3pm, so that's always a good sign! The spicy chicken was more stir fried than grilled, but it was still tasty & the gyoza had cabbage in it so I think it tasted slightly different than other places. I was happy to see there was a cabbage slaw with thousand island like dressing on the side (I wasn't sure if there'd be a veggie). I guess you can sub steamed veggies, brown rice, or mixed grain rice for the white rice for a fee too. The beef short ribs were good as well. We really liked the bibimbap though! Sunny side up egg, bulgogi beef, stir fried cabbage and mushrooms, and spicy bibimbap sauce. Tasty! Will definitely be one of our go to take out spots in the future! read more

I have been this place for a few years now. Owner is always super nice and she knows what she is doing! Food is great always and this place can do " No sauce " chicken teriyaki with flavor. I do have pre-diabetes so I cannot do the sauce. They always make fresh food and give consistent quality. I personally love their spicy seafood Udong because the soup tastes like one of korean dish which is called " jjambbong ". Their sweet and sour chicken was super good and it was flavorful. Chicken was crispy and wasn't soggy at all! Sometimes, fried food could be soggy because of the sauce and personally I love how they serve sauce on the side. Okay, I'm missing what the heck Bento is. I feel like it's just regular Chinese or Japanese food - I didn't notice anything special. It's rice, and something else on the side - either meat or veggies. Hmmm... I still don't get it. So, please elaborate! Anyway, I had the spicy chicken - and although it was fine, it wasn't too terribly special. It was $5.95, no veggies, and white rice. I even asked when I ordered if there were veggies, and she said, "yes". Perhaps she didn't get my question, or perhaps she thought that the little side of cabbage classified. I guess technically, it is a vegetable. So, I'd say probably I don't need to go back to this place... or if I do, that I should ask for a veggie side skewer. But now my meal will cost me $7.70 +tip, and that seems very high for white rice, some onions, peppers and a little chicken. I did feel pretty good after eating here, which I assume was due to the fact that they do NOT use MSG. That's enough for 3 stars right there. Oh how MSG will hurt the tummy! read more

hmm.. prices have gone up over the years but so have they on everything else. The bentos here are really good and they give you substantial portions of meat which are well prepared. I do wish that they gave more vegetables as someone else has mentioned. They give you a very very small cabbage salad which is good but so little you can finish it in one gulp. The chicken teriyaki comes with steamed rice, (deli-sh,) and pickled cabbage. It's very tasty and affordable. They accept credit and debit. I could eat here every day of the week! read more

Great lunch special. Today was my first time here so my review is based on their lunch special. Spicy Chicken/rice , two yummy soft Gyoza and drink was delicious. Fast service and the cashier listened, I mean really listened as I told her make it extra extra spicy since I am a Habaneros person. Not all restaurant take me seriously when I ask for extra spicy. This isn't yer high class joint folks. You're not gonna be bumping into yuppies, guppies or $chluppies here. What you get is almost street-vendor-like simple fare on the cheap. The best things here (imho) are the teriyaki chicken and the pot stickers. They do offer California rolls but a word to sushi afficionados: Steer clear. It's a roll that's one step above the ol' grocery store sushi rolls. The Teriyaki Chicken Bento is enough food for 2 especially if you upgrade to add the 2 gyoza. They serve a little sweet pickled greens that I think is made of chinese cabbage? It's kinda good.
