Happen to find this spot by chance, I wish I would've known about this three years ago. I got the umami Ramen spicy. It took me back to when I was stationed in Iwakuni Japan. My fiancé loves this place but every time I come here and order the vegetarian ramen, I get minor food poisoning. I've been to both Ramen Ryoma locations in beaverton and downtown pdx and for some reason, the ramen at the beaverton always tastes better to me. The staff are friendly and the place is lively. I usually get their corn butter ramen with the miso base. I really like the broth with the butter and the noodles are springy and chewy. Their chashu is thick and soft without being super fatty, which I love. I've also tried their garlic mayu ramen and spicy ramen but it personally wasn't my taste. There is always a waitlist during peak lunch and dinner hours so definitely put yourself down on the yelp waitlist before you get there. My first visit to this restaurant left the impression that I must return when possible! I had the small Chasu bowl paired with the Chasu Ramen w/shoyu broth and was everything but disappointed! The best reason that to go here is really their curry. They have amazing Japanese curry. that is simple and comes with that perfect red daikon that gives it the extra punch. It has good broth and I love the wavy noodles. The setting is restaurant is dark but it feels close knit. There was no wait and I sat by the bar since I like sitting away from people. I shop at Uwajimaya but never ate here because of the wait. Finally happened to get done shopping when they opened at 11AM and was seated right away. Got the deluxe with shoyu for $16.20 and here is how it scored: Presentation: 5/5 pretty much the classic Ramen noodles: 5/5 really nice chew and slurp Shoyu Broth: 3/5 good but not as complex as the best Ajitama: perfectly executed 5/5 Pork: cold, dry and tough, probably because they just opened but sad 2/5 Service: pretty good 4/5 Value: 4/5 unfortunately inflation has hit ramen and a bowl is over $20 at some venues. First time here was on Halloween and not only was the food amazing, service spectacular but the vibe and Halloween tunes playing was fantastic. We both tried the spicy miso broth and the hubby added tofu and egg and we were both impressed with how flavorful and fresh everything was and how quickly it came out. Great ramen in an unassuming strip mall in Beaverton next to the Uwajimaya grocery store! The ramen is handmade and has a toothiness / chew that is just superb. Purists may say it isn't as authentic as Ippudo or Hinodeya but I love the slightly rustic texture. And broth is rich and delicious - apparently from boiling down the "black pork" bones for 5 hours. The customer service is probably good. The vegetarian ramen was not. The soup, with its rich sesame flavor, wasn't bad; however, overall, it was a disappointment. The ramen came with a Brussels sprout and a few shreds of cabbage, and that's all. Can you grill the Brussels sprouts at least? Can you add more vegetables, such as a seaweed sheet, more grilled vegetables, and pickled bamboo shoots? I have tried many vegetarian ramen dishes in the past. This one wasn't the worst. I got their small chasu pork ( very dry today and little meat :( ) and their small curry bowl. The curry bowl was like usual. Hearty and warm in the cooler months. I saw on their door though that yakitori might be coming in February 2025 at their Portland location! So kind of excited about that since we don't really have yakitori here. Very good Ramen. I had the miso broth and added corn to the deluxe Ramen. All the staff was very friendly and attentive. Even was kind enough to explain the differences between the Ramen. I set my card on my table showing I was ready to pay, and another associate helped me out. It was nice I didn't have to wait for my very very busy server although she was wonderful. The restaurant is in the same building, but separate from Uwajimaya, on the right. Parking was satisfactory. Not the best lit parking lot. More comfortable seating arrangements would be nice, but it is a small place. Great place to stop for some great Ramen!! read more
