Rekeying entry/front door lock and dead bolt. Lock installed on sliding patio door. Arrived on time, very professional.

My buddy and I tried to replace my front door handles and deadbolt on our own. We got most of the work done, but the deadbolt hardware was giving us issues. Specifically, when we tightened the screws on the hardware, the deadbolt would become much more difficult to engage and retract. I called Ben on a Monday morning, explained the situation to him over the phone, and asked him how soon he could come fix the issue. He came out the very next morning during the time frame he said he would, which I was very pleased with. When he arrived, I explained the situation to him, he diagnosed the issue, and fixed it with ease. The deadbolt works like a charm now! Additionally, I asked him to replace a couple other door knobs and a deadbolt on two other doors at my home. I hadn't mentioned these tasks to him prior to him coming out, but he not only was he happy to do the additional work, but he did it quickly, efficiently, and very effectively. The two other doors now open, close, and lock perfectly (whereas before they did not work smoothly). Ben also re-keyed my doors so that they all now lock/unlock using the same key, which is ideal. All this work only took Ben about an hour to perform. Overall, Ben was great! He was kind, professional, considerate, and also very educational (he explained to me what the issue was with my deadbolt in a very easy-to-understand manner). I will definitely save his contact information and use him for any future locksmith work I need and I will refer him to anyone I know who also needs a locksmith. read more

I had this very old travel chest that somehow got locked a few years back. I never had the key, so I looked for a local locksmith to open as I knew it had all it's compartments and be great for storage. Ben was amazing. This lock was beyond stubborn so in the end he had to drill it but he got it done. Turned out when it got slammed shut it bent the locking mechanism. Needed some door handles fixed and door locks replaced on four doors total. Very good with their communication and responsiveness. Efficient work. Our tech had a little bit of a family issue that he had to go deal with in the middle of the project but he did come back promptly and fixed everything to our satisfaction and changed all the key locks so everything matches. Could have been a little bit cleaner but may have been frazzled due to the family emergency. All in all I would recommend them but I do think their prices are a bit on the high end. read more

I didn't have time to shop around so not sure about prices... but in every other way, Ben was great. He was able to come out the next day. Was done within 1 hour. Few days later I realized that I had forgotten the 2 upstairs French doors so he came back out that same day. Waived $29 fee the second time. Cost $29 initial fee, then $55 for regular deadbolt lock and $85 per French door. Second time I called him he quoted $95 per French door..... He might have jacked up the price on me a little bit, like I said I didn't shop around as I was on a time crunch. Still giving 5 stars as he was able to come out right away. read more

Unintended consequence - I had to hire another team to fix one rekeyed door. I ordered a remote rekey service from Mr. Ben, and I got the code for the keylock for the new key after the full payment requested by him on Friday Jan. 13th, 2023. I was uncomfortable paying the full payment without the validation of his work, but I had a crew of contractors who needed to access the property. He claimed that everything was fine on his work. On Saturday, twenty-four hours after his work, I was on the property and found that one of the doors could not be opened even though the new key turned the deadbolt into and out of the strike plate. After reviewing my text messages and pictures, he told me the door was sticky and needed more force to be applied on the bolt. Three contractors tried to follow his instructions and failed on opening the door. Since his business is closed on Saturdays, and I could not wait on him to resolve the issue on other days, I made the decision onsite to hire another team to solve the issue. I was lucky enough to only spend the same amount of money I paid to Mr. Ben, and the door is functional again. Afterwards, I had a technician from the new team explain the causes of the unopenable door to Mr. Ben. Two lessons learned from this rekey purchase: First, never pay the full bill of remote works before validating the quality of the service ordered. And second, have a plan B ready. read more
