I've been wanting to visit here for awhile and enjoyed this cool, low key neighborhood gem with Italian food. The restaurant is on the smaller side but does have nice big windows and a patio. There is also a little parking lot behind it on Willits which I appreciate! Anyways food wise, ordered the crab cake with came with some sort of miso chutney which didn't really seem to go with it but the crab cake itself was decent. The fries and aioli were good but I do feel the fries could've been seasoned more- I am a fan of oregano, rosemary and herbs so for me the flavor was lacking a bit but they were tasty and a good portion to share with 2-3 people I'd say. I got the tagliatelle for my entree and it was a great size portion and tasty. I do wish there was more variety with the types of pasta offered as I'd love a white sauce, red sauce (ie bolognese or spicy marinara) or vodka sauce offering in addition to what is on the menu. The worst place I've been in a long time. You can smell the kitchen from the door, and inside is unbreathable. I sat at the bar expecting a quick service and my meal never came, I paid and asked to take out but I had to leave without my meal. I think Beppe has a lot potential to be successful as a newer, upscale restaurant in Royal Oak. It's just a short walk from the main area of downtown. Beppe's menu is great, it's short, with a nice variety of options. Several of the appetizers sounded good, as did the salads. They also have a good cocktail and wine/bottle list. The service is friendly and competent while still genuine. I had the scallops. I thought they were really good, but not amazing. My friend had the barramundi, which was amazing (though maybe should have been listed as garlic barramundi, as the garlic is strong, I love garlic so I enjoyed it). The fish was perfectly cooked, served on creamy risotto. I would go back to order this as well as try some of the apps. I think the interior falls short on the ambiance. I had been in the building before in its previous life as a Greek diner. Beppe is trying to be upscale, but has not lost the the diner feel yet, my friend noted it gives off a bit of upscale Dennys. The service and food were very good, though, so that makes up for the slightly awkward ambiance. I made reservations for dinner with a girlfriend to catch up. We shared the fritto misto, caponata and tagliatelle. We also each had a cocktail. All of it was delicious. I'm bummed, I can't lie, because they changed their vodka pasta! The last time I was in the area for work, I stopped in and I was SO impressed with the vodka rigatoni with sausage and ricotta. I told everyone at home about it. I tried to recreate it I came back (about a year later) it was not good :( It was dry, the noodles were not a rigatoni shape, they were heavy and too thick and chewy, and whatever sauce I did get felt grainy and not creamy, it didn't even have parsley! I'm sad because the vibe is so cute, the people are great, the fries were good, but the pasta I had been looking forward to was a bit of a let down. Please bring back the sausage rigatoni! read more

The derives was so friendly, attentive, and caring! We love trying tartare everywhere that we go that has it on the menu, and was this a good tartare! The flavors were SO on point. Wow! What an awesome place! It's hard to believe that this is the same place that used to be a dingy Greek restaurant! The patio was an awesome place to sit on a beautiful evening and we had the most delightful server! The drink menu was fabulous - three of us had the spritzes, which were perfect for the sunny summer night. All of the appetizers sounded great, but we decided on the steak tips. They were delicious...and I'm only half joking when I say that we were tempted to drink the juices from the marinade that were left in the dish because it was so good! For our entrees, two of us got the gnocchi and the other two had the barramundi. Both were fantastic and the portion sizes were perfect. Blackened, a Cutlet and fries and everyday side salads with both of our meals and deviled egg less smoked salmon. The deviled eggs sounds good, minus the smoked salmon. Who doesn't like giardiniera. The deviled eggs are super yummy, the giardiniera gives them a perfect kick. The carrots gives it an interesting texture that I am not used to for deviled eggs, not bad at all. I could totally eat another round. The everyday salad was good, nice creamy dressing. The barramundi fish has a different texture, doesn't taste have that breakaway texture I am used to with most fish. This is only the third time eating barramundi but when you bite into it, it disintegrates like it's processed and ground up after one bite into it. It was strange and enigmatic as I tried to put into words what the experience of eating the fish was like. It has a similar texture after you bite it some to white fish spread. The blackened seasoning isn't bad, not super flavorful. I think I spent the entire time eating my fish trying to discern how odd the fish felt to me while eating it. The chicken cutlet was pretty solid, but the fries were not hot, nor were they crispy at all. The aioli would have been better with more stellar fries. The owner went around and checked on tables, that's nice. He checked on us around the start of our meal. Tommy checked on us too. They have Panna cotta and a chocolate peanut butter cake. Dinner as $75.26. Tommy was good to us. The food wasn't bad, some items needs some work and others are good as they are. Dinner was really a let down the other day. The vodka pasta was not fully cooked with a sauce that tasted like it came out of a can. The pork belly was cold and not crispy. The salmon was so bland that our guest actually left the dish and couldn't eat it. Portions are all much smaller now, too, so most of us were left hungry. The best thing on the menu was the sourdough bread, and even that was a small portion, too. We came here for my friends birthday! I had never been. The other girls loved this place. They came early to get a table for 6. It's a smaller place than I expected. They only gave us 1 hour and 15 minutes to celebrate our friend and we felt rushed. They also didn't do anything for her birthday. The food is overpriced. I enjoyed my drink but I don't think this is a good place to celebrate an occasion. Maybe if you are grabbing an expensive bite on a random weekend or weekday but I got a $20 salad and it was kale, chick peas, Brussel sprouts and chicken. $20 for that? It was fine but this was no $20 salad. Most entrees were $20-$40 and I don't think this place offers that kind of ambiance for that price point. Outstanding!!!!! The restaurant itself is super small but they did a great job with the interior. The ambiance is really casual and cool but the real star of the show is their food. In particular, their French fries (I know, lol) and their cheeseburger. Normally, when I go out I wouldn't order something like that but everyone i talked to about it raved and loved it so I tried it and now I do too! For apps had the sprouts and shrimp and calamari. Both sooooo good. The mango in with the Brussels sprouts- thought it sounded weird but NO it was so good. Split the for the soul salad- mm very tasty. The braised short rib looked so good - a friend got it, but they said there's dairy in the polenta sooo I couldn't have it. It's a little pricey, but the quality is there and the service was good too, so we think it's worth it. They have unique cocktails (I had the Valentine's Day special rose martini and a kiwi spritz, my boyfriend had a ruby spritz and a Sour Blues). They were all great. I think we enjoyed the Sour Blues (very strong blueberry flavor) and Kiwi Spritz the most. For the food, we had the caponata with baguette and the roasted carrots with ricotta as appetizers. Both were excellent, but I really enjoyed the caponata as it was much more flavorful than I thought it would be! For dinner I had the barramundi with Parmesan risotto. It was AMAZING. One of the best seafood dishes I have ever had. It has a lot of fresh garlic, so if you love garlic, you will love this. I will order this again. The risotto was perfectly creamy. My boyfriend had the pork chop with gigante beans and bacon, and he loved it; the pork chop was not overcooked. For dessert they only had one offering, so I'm assuming it rotates daily or weekly. I told the owner and his response was that cut of steak can be tough... that's it and walked away!! If it stated on the menu "this meat might tough".... Do you think I would of ordered it? The cocktail was very refreshing, the aperol initially had me hesitant to try it because I don't care for it to much but those concerns weren't valid, the drink was very tasty and came garnished with pink pineapple! If theirs a crab cake on the menu, I'm ordering it and the one at Beppe' is phenomenal. Crab cake was packed with crab, hot and crispy upon arrival and the creole sauce reminded me of wasabi in the best way and was the perfect addition . I also enjoyed the frisée that accompanied the crab cake but it had a few to many red onions in it. The barramundi.. omg. I heard about this place on TikTok and the poster stated this is the only dish she consistently gets from here and I see why. The fish was cooked perfectly, with a little crispness on top and the risotto was delicious with a subtle taste of lemon. Amazing dish! Arrived around 6 on a Thursday and made it right on time. Where do I start? Every aspect of Beppe is remarkable!! We were in town for the weekend and did a Yelp search and came across Beppe. WOW!! What a find!! Super cool atmosphere, small yet not cramped. They have a rather small menu selection, which after eating I understand why - they make everything from scratch! We started with the Polenta and Proscuitto appetizer. The saltiness of the meat really complimented the polenta. For my meal I had the Vodka Rigatoni. I savored every bite! The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was not overpowering like some cream sauces. If you enjoy a cocktail or wine you have to see their selection!! The wine list is extensive and our server was well versed in telling us about the wines we were considering. As we were leaving they were showing a new employee their cocktail specials so they had us taste them. YUMMY? We hung out with the staff and owner who were all kind and lots of fun.
