Nice links type golf course. The wait usually is not long. When I've been there the round took about 5 hours or less. It has been maintained nicely for the last 15 years. It has a range with a machine to buy your bucket of balls. Plenty of parking. read more

Bergen is my local course and I've been playing it for more than five years now. I love this track! The greens are tough and well managed and the staff is very knowledgeable and caring for the course. This course also has a full scale driving range and doesn't restrict you to only using irons. Extremely unprofessional staff, my group and I arrived 20 minutes early to our tee time and we were subjected to an extremely passive aggressive pro shop worker telling us "wow signing up for three green keys on a weekend is a way to really slow down the pace of play"(even though we showed up early and there was one person waiting behind us). We then get on the course and the ranger comes around yelling at us telling us to pick up our balls even though we were waiting on the group in front of us to get off the green. Went to golf today for an 1130 Tee Time, we get there at 1105. Plenty of time before hand & the guy who was working the pro shop was unprofessional. As he got upset because we requested to many green keys, so basically he was upset to do his job. There was one other guy in the pro shop with us for an 1140 Tee time & he told us since we requested the green key it would back up the course even though we were 25 minutes early. So then we head on the course. Very nice course, but once again terrible service, we get told by the 9th hole we are holding up a Jam behind us even though we had to wait to tee off cause there was multiple groups in front! Absolutely terrible employee service and I will not be back to this golf course ever again. It's a shame cause the course itself is nice but the people aren't. read more

Bergen Point Golf Course in West Babylon was established in 1972 and I believe designed by William Mitchell. The golf course is located next to a large treatment plant that separates Bergen Point from Great South Bay. That is unfortunate, the views would have been spectacular. Bergen Point is an 18-hole regulation course with its back tees at 6,637 yards par of seventy-one. The course rating is 71.1 with a slope rating of 116. Bergen Point is a municipal public golf course. My first experience is mixed since it is my first time playing this course, and my first time this year playing a public course. I intend to play it once again in the near future when I will have a better familiarity with the track. Overall, the greens seemed well taken care of, but most of the grounds outside of the fairways were rough mix weed, grass and sand terrain. Not necessarily a difficult golf course, but if you are unfamiliar with the track, it can be a challenge. read more

Had to jump on here after an amazing day at Bergen Point Golf Course. Until today it was the only Suffolk County course not on my "resume." I had always avoided it because of the "dog track" label that was stuck to it many years ago. The is far from to at description let me tell you. Beautiful fairways and greens and let me tell you, plenty of trouble to be aware of regarding hazards. I had booked the round on Monday and never thought to read any reviews because a fellow golfer at Timber Point last week raved about it. Well Lou, you were spot on, and all the 1-star reviews I read yesterday couldn't be more wrong. Between the negative comments about the track and the staff things couldn't have been more opposite of what I read. Gone are the crappy tee boxes and fairways and also gone it seems are the cranky pro shop staff. I got there a bit late for our 12PM tee time (11:35) and the next thing I know the starter says "you're on deck!?" What happened to all the comments about "plan to wait for nearly an hour past your time?" I had to scramble to get my clubs, shoes, cart, you name it. Played with two regulars (Bob and Tracy) who were fun to join up with and valuable when it came to their course knowledge. Truth be told, I cleaned out my bag on the front nine losing about 4 balls but that was on me. Back 9 improvement of 10 strokes showed I was starting to enjoy the place and get rid of the out of the car blues! Will definitely come back but will keep my eyes out for those hazards. Very unhappy with the overall hospitality of the staff. After booking a last minute tee time the last slot of the day, we arrived 15 before and were very rudely reprimanded for being so "late". When I asked to confirm that I had not paid through GolfNow already, he laughed in my face and treated me like an idiot. He told us "someone needs to teach the new golfers proper etiquette". I've been playing for 10 years and have arrived later at much nicer courses where I simply apologized and they handled it politely. The course was still backed up, requiring us to wait for the fairway to clear on the first hole, making us start after our tee time anyway after dealing with the pro shop idiot. On the par 3 2nd, we waited for the greens to clear and tee'd off, just for the same guy to tell us to pick up and move on to the next hole because he wanted to give a lesson in the green side bunker. We explained that we were waiting for the green to clear and would putt quickly, but that was not good enough for him, as he started a stopwatch from the point that we walked onto the tee box and 11 minutes was too long. For this horrible customer service and $60, the conditions were not as nice as expected either. In decent shape, but not worth dealing with the pro shop guy, who I am not seeing has multiple complaints on here. I made a Yelp account just to share this. Very disappointed. read more

Bergen is a fine golf course greens are very good. Stay out of the rough where it can be bare in spots that's what ground under repair is for. The fairways are ok to good have no problem playing there. Best of the greens out of Timber and West Sayville and as a Suffolk cty res. can,t beat the price. The course was nice, played for the first time today. The greens were hard and fast and the fairways were kept up. Overall I had a great time golfing. On the other hand, I'm not a fan of the guy working the pro shop the day I went 5/25/19 - early morning tee time. He was very rude and not helpful by any means. I asked if I could get a green card being that they offer them there. He refused to to it so early in the morning and was a complete dick about it so I said fine whatever, I'll get it after. Well we finished and I went in to see if he could do it then and he refused again. I wish I could have spoke to a manager. Overall bad experience. Showed up an hour before they close to go to the driving range and was rudely told to go away. Grumpy guy basically wouldn't even answer and me, shook his head and walked away as I was asking him a question. Why can't you just BE NICE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS how hard could it be? HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Had a 3pm tee time which I paid $56 for, got to play 3 holes, and then it began to downpour. After waiting an hour for the rain to stop, they decide to close the course (fine, totally fair). Initially they would not give us a rain check but after arguing with the manager they agreed to give us a 9 hole credit, not great, but something. When I called to make a reservation to use my credit, they wanted to charge me an additional $44 to play 18 holes and would not let me just play 9. $100 to play 18 holes at a course that isn't the Belmont black? I will never give this course another dollar of my money!! A crappy South Shore course that acts like it's a North Shore Country club!! They forget when the course looked like shit a few years ago and no one played there.... they actually got a great groundskeeper there to make it look a lot better but still can't hold water which makes it impossible to play after rain! Played my first and last round at Bergen Point on Saturday, September 3, 2016. Would give zero stars if I could. First of all, I am not a golf snob. I only play the Town and County courses in Suffolk and some of those are in pretty sketchy shape. Bergen Point may be the worst of them. And that includes Holbrook CC which has had tee boxes made up of crab grass and dirt for as long as I can remember. So I guess you can check one off in BP's favor, their tee boxes are better than Holbrooks. But before I continue talking about the conditions of the course, a word about the level of respect the staff may have for you and your time. You see, a tropical storm was approaching LI this particular weekend and so a large group of golfers who ordinarily play on Sunday mornings (with reserved tee times no doubt) showed up on Saturday morning to play. Now I'm a fair fellow, but when five groups call or show up to tee off first thing in the morning when the tee sheet is already full, well I'm sorry boys but regulars or not, you'll have to try your luck on Sunday. But somehow the pro shop and or starter decided that there was room for five groups. So that means that my groups' 6:53 reserved tee time became 7:45. Maybe that explains why it took 20 minutes to check in at the pro shop, he wasn't having computer problems, he was trying to stop the hands of time to find room for five extra groups. How about you guys refund the $4.00 reservation fee I was charged when I had to cancel one of the four reservations I had made because I couldn't get a single one of my jabroni friends to fill out the group? While we're at it, how about you refund $4.00 to me and each member of my group for the "reservation fee" that clearly is not necessary? Oh and by the way, it turns out the Sunday golfers missed out on literally the nicest day of the year as Sunday was sunny and 75. But thanks for being so special that you can have my reserved tee time. The course was in ok shape provided you were on the fairways or greens and not in one of the many soft, swampy areas of turf on said fairways. If you're off the fairway you can expect patchy dead grass at best and rocky hardpan at worst. The upside is that you can get some tremendous run on your drives that land in the rough. Bare ground is abundant around nearly every green. The greens themselves were in OK shape and had some nice undulation to them. Nothing really to complain about regarding them and are probably the next best thing about the course, after the tee boxes. If you're thinking about going to Bergen Point you should do yourself a favor and head a bit further east and play Timber Point instead. The Blue course plays along the bay and is beautiful. And no wastewater treatment plant to spoil views or air. Bergen Point is a golfing abomination. YMB read more

It was a great experience. The course was in good shape, really good to practice your short game and iron shots. All nice people and used to work out with Kevin Lisi on my golf swing, now I got much better. I would say he is one of the best golf instructor in East United state area. The owner of Bergen Point ( Bob Miller ) is always nice to everyone and I look forward to coming back to play soon again!! People!! This is the right place to get better!!! read more

First time , last time...this is the worst course I have ever played. Fairways with little or no grass, but many stones and pebbles. Puddles abound with foul yellowish liquid. It appears that this course has had little or no maintenance performed on it... Long Island you deserve better. One star is one star too many read more

Went here yesterday and the guy at the counter is the nastiest guy you will ever meet. I booked a tee time for 5 pm for three people for 54 dollars each carts included, but he said we could only have two carts and when I stated carts were included I our price he said it's not how it works. When he said I could pay extra for a third cart I said fine he said total is 216. 216 for three golfers at twilight! Almost unheard of and when I asked him why so much he said it's 18 a cart and since we wanted three it was an extra 54 dollars just to add one and when I just asked him to explain he said if you don't like it don't play here and when I asked again nicely to explain he said forget you're not golfing today and walked away. We did manage to play only cause I talked to the guy sitting in the cart and we just took the two carts. Course was awful too. Would not recommend. read more

Play this course semi often. It's close to home and in the best shape it's been in years. Only complaint would be the staff working the twilight. I understand people want to get home at night but there is no need to be rude and inconsiderate to paying customers. I have been playing Bergen Point for several years, its convenient for my group , and the course has improved steadily. But the customer service in the pro shop is horrific, complete disrespect towards players. We have talked to the starters and groundskeepers, wondering why this behavior is not dealt with and all they can do is nod in agreement and shrug their shoulders. We have approached the course pro and he claims it the customers , not his employee . There are so many golfers who walk away from signing in muttering to themselves in disbelief. I know many golfers who refuse to play Bergen, and go to Sayville or Timber, instead of dealing with this individual, play on a day he's not working and there is never a problem. Hopefully someday the management of this course will correct this situation and give their customers the golf experience and mutual respect they are paying for and deserve. read more

We went on Sunday for a birthday party. The golf course club house doubles as a catering hall. Gemelli's caters the events and after this experience I'd love to visit their location in Babylon Village. The hall it self is spacious with large windows. The bathrooms were kept rather clean considering it was subjected to many small children as well as a lot of adults. My friend did a beautiful job decorating everything. And like I said the food was amazing, served buffet style there was everything from chicken fingers to chicken and artichokes. The bar was in a separate room and the bartender was very friendly and the prices were reasonable. All in all it was a great experience. I would definitely consider this location for any future event I needed to host. read more

If you want to avoid the crowds at Bethpage, Bergen Point is the place to go. The guys in the pro shop are friendly and helpful. Fairways can be a little soft but it wasn't a big deal. Greens are amazing, they roll great. They also have the hardest par 3's on long island. When the wind is blowing the par 3 holes at bergen are harder then any you will find on long island, including the black course at bethpage. Great bang for your buck! read more

Bergen Point is in my opinion the best of the 4 county golf courses. The greens and fairways are always high quality and you can usually get out right away off the first tee. Weekends get busy so make sure you book a tee time because you might have to wait a while to get out. The staff is always accomodating and friendly. They have a good driving range and putting green on site. I always come here to practice my putting because the greens are usually smooth and bergen point is around the block from my house. The course has gotten better over the years since I started playing. If you havnt played here ever or in a while its worth a shot. read more

If you read all the reviews here you will get a sense for what the root problem is at Bergen Point. It's not the sewage plant or the lack of maintenance especially in the rough.......it's the obnoxious staff. I played many many rounds there on Saturday and Sunday mornings and it was always the same.......they either completely ignore you and treat you like you don't exist except to take your $$$$ or they are often just plain rude at the counter. Always display that little bit of sarcasm and "i really am annoyed I have to help you" attitude! I actually like the layout at Bergen but I avoid it solely due to the staff. The other issue I have with them is they are always "squeezing" their buddies in at the expense of the commoners! I've seen the starter berate someone for being late and threatening he will lose his time..........then I have seen him telling his buddy "no problem go get your clubs and I'll fit you in" That's BS. The staff at the pro shop is nasty and unprofessional. Being a county course, you would assume they would be respectful and helpful. The guy had an attitude and didnt want to give anyone the time of day. After making reservations over the phone, I was required "to play 18 holes and thats it". To pay fifty something dollars for such a crappy experience and a lackluster course I must have been out of my mind. Timberpoint and West Sayville here I come. The young guys in the pro shop are great and knowledgeable, but the older guys are just plain nasty. read more

Bergen Point is one of Suffolk County's public golf courses it is located near the great south bay in West Babylon and one of the toughest county courses to play as far as slope rating is concerned. Plenty of water hazards strategically placed throughout the course - the greens offer some tough hole locations and undulations so you need to be on top of your game. Some greens have tricky elevations and hard to notice from the tee box so you may have to go "up a club" for distance. The staff is professional and very helpful - on weekends they offer group lessons just in case you need to get some tuning up or you're just starting out. A great course for the money and easy to walk if you prefer that over carts. read more

I am very surprised to read all the negative posts about Bergen Point Golf Course....they make no sense...This is a local course, which is in pretty decent shape. I was lucky enough to be playing there 3 or 4 days a week, at all different times, and my experience was always a good one (unless I didn't play well). During the week, playing between 7 and 10, there was never a long wait....weekends maybe a few minutes longer, but we signed in, got ready, maybe hit the putting green and then our name was called....Let me backtrack....sign in was quick and easy, always greeted friendly, was told course conditions and wished a good round. I don't every remember any delays. Unfortunately, I had to take a break from golf for a few years, but have come back, and one of the first places I wanted to go to is Bergen Point. I was amazed at how much they have cleaned it up, fixed up, and made it even more of a challenge on the Par 3s. I cannot see how anyone can complain about this course, from sign in, to end of round, from the club house to the parking lots. Everything is quite up to par, no pun intended ! If there is any complaint to make, it is more because of people who play there and just drop their beer cans, cigar wrappers, boxes from golf balls, etc, right on the ground until waiting until the next hole to put in a garbage can. I used to live on LI and played many of the Suffolk county courses but never this one. When I visited this past weekend I unfortunately got stuck playing Bergen Point. Our morning started with the rudest pro shop cashier I've ever experienced (think about the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld). The starter wasn't much better but at least had a little sense of humor. When we finally got off (30 minutes after scheduled tee time) we ran into backups at every hole of our 5 and a half hour round, sometimes with 3 groups lined up at the tee box. Needless to say the staff made no effort to move things along. The course was in horrible condition with some fairways having more dirt and pebbles than grass. Greens were absolutely terrible, showing little/no sign of maintenance. This could be the worst course I've ever played in 30 years of playing golf all over the country. I was a PGA pro at a 36 hole country club for 7 years and let me just say if I ever treated anyone the way I was treated at this place I would have been fired. The staff (Robert Miller), is probably the rudest and un-professional man I have ever met. From the counter to the course i couldn't believe his attitude. People pay good money to play your public course and need to be treated with respect... To make matters worse he decided to help himself into my small cooler when I was in the clubhouse making the turn. (Who pulls out someones personal cooler and opens it and goes through it when they are not around?) You ever hear of personal property... What an A$$.. How would you like it if I went in your car and rummaged though it BOB???? You can ask, I would have let you have a gatorade if you wanted one. With that said, I again will not be visiting this place ever again. It pains me because it is so close. Thanks for ruining my experience BOB maybe you should let someone else run things out there or loose your JOB!!!! read more
