I'm back now in NYC after a run with Sarasota, farming and golfing and doing doggie stuff. Anytime you're in the warmer climates and your a player, it's high time to sharpen your skills on the course., come back to the northeast and put a lickin on your friends . First hole is a really short part 4, 365 yards from the blue tees. I'm always trying at stretch out Smoking Steve because he's not long and I love blowing my 2 iron past his driver drives. But there were no tees further back, so I carved my shits a bit more to play what this mountain course is giving. Mountain golf is lots of ups and downs as you might imagine, quite the opposite flof super flat Florida so know your distances, add and take away yardage when facing an approach short where elevations change Par three's aren't difficult, usually greens that are receptive and not very undulating. Green side bunkers are not deep and are a good target to hit into if your sand game is tight on the par 5s. In fact, there aren't many bunkers out here which is why I'm still a bit stumped as to the Troon connection here. No water hazards that I recall being anything you need to avoid. If your straight, this is a scorable course, fescue is high so errant off line shits will be a big penalty. I'd recommend a summer round because when the leaves fall, finding your well struck tee shot could be challenging, even while playing colored Srixon golf balls.

This place is now called falkirk country club or something like that, but it's definitely falkirk…read moresomething. i'd go 3 and a half here. it's not the most maintained course at all, but is usually in good enough shape. 51 bucks with cart is not too bad. a very short course where the driver is not needed on a few holes for sure. those with a slice/fade could get crushed here for sure. accuracy is definitely rewarded here. many of the greens have pronounced 'mounds' in them where if you miss chip/putt, your ball is gone! and my favorite part about the place is that if you go in early afternoon, you fly through the course and could easily play 27-36 if you wanted to as there are no rangers who care at all, just keep on playing!

Nicely laid out with some very challenging holes. During summer months one needs to secure tee times well in advance as all tee times are taken. The course also has a driving range. Range balls are also fairly priced at $8.00 for a small (50) balls and $16.00 for a large (100) balls. The driving range matts are quite warm but pro shop where balls are sold told me they were being replaced in the 2024 season. Brand new golf carts have replaced the old ones only negative is these carts are gas powered which can result in jerky stops and starts. But this facility does not have a cart barn which prevents electrical access. Hopefully in the future the town of Greenwich will erect a cart barn with electrical chargers for electric carts. Pro shop carries the popular brands of shirts, golfing apparel and shoes. The personnel in the shop are knowledgeable and very helpful. The manager, Ashley, has great personality and is a pleasure to deal. Everyone in the shop is friendly and courteous to all patrons. Lessons are available from PGA professionals. For a public course I highly recommend the "Griff"

The greens roll well, often getting speedier a few times mid-season. The range is good, the practice bunker better than nothing and the putting and chipping greens are excellent. Weekday pace of play is perfect, and if you can get the early weekend times, you can get off the course by 11 to 11:30. The food might be the best at any public course. Some of the friendlier pro shop, starter and even rangers I've ever been around. The longest hitters might find it a bit short, but the vast majority of public golfers will find the routing enjoyable and the overall experience one worth repeating.

Unfortunately for the bride and groom, it was incredibly rainy so we didn't get to experience the pretty grounds and an outdoor ceremony. The did a lovely job setting up the ceremony in the reception area of the tent. Upon entering the tent, guests were greeted with a drink wall that included 3 cocktails. We hung out in the cocktail side of the tent until we were showed to the ceremony space. When you hear tent you think, is it going to be comfortable? I have to say this one was. While I thought it was a bit warm when we first entered, it cooled off as the night went on. The draping and chandeliers are beautiful and the room is spacious as is the dance floor. The cocktail hour included maybe 7 stations, each with it's own theme and cocktail to pair with the food. For example the sushi station offered saki and Japanese beer. There were also passed hor'dourves. The food was pretty good and the bartenders made great drinks. Dinner started off with a grilled peach salad. For the entree the NY Strip was a hearty portion; some were cooked better than others, served with lovely asparagus and mashed potatoes. It included a Rosemary sauce which was kind of overpowering. After the cake cutting, they opened the cocktail are back up and it transformed into a dessert room. S'mores, sundaes, pastries, churros they had it all. They also had a dessert martini table and they made an excellent espresso martini shaken to order. All the staff we encountered was wonderful and friendly. The back area had a fire pit and seating while inside there were epic chandeliers, toasty fireplaces, and long tables set up along the sides with a large dance hall area for the middle in a giant hall. The actual wedding took place in a greenhouse like atrium attached and covered outside. Seriously, gorgeous building and location for any special occasion or wedding. The service was impeccable. Waiters came by for the toasting hour before dinner with little appetizers and canapes. There was some kind of delicious mapley fatty bacon in there somewhere that was awesome. So why four stars and not five? Man, those bartenders, even though they are very generous and sweet as can be, cannot pour a good drink. I switched from wine because I wasn't a fan of it to quickly an old fashioned which tasted incredibly off. I think because it was a more classic style. But then later I experimented with trying a Manhattan cocktail after I saw my friend with it and that was even worse. Finally, resolved to sticking to well liquor and a simple mixer and everything was fine after that. The food was meh. The salad course was actually my favorite part. I'm not sure if they make the food on premises though or if there is a catering deal of sorts. But we had an arugula salad with a lemon vinaigrette and shaved pecorino romano and it was AWESOME. So flavorful and simple and refreshing. For my entree the choices were either diver sea scallops or New York Strip Steak. Easy choice. Steak, duh. It was served with garrison seasonal farm vegetables and parmesan risotto in a red wine jus. The sauce was interesting - good I think but weird. The meat was really tough. It was cooked okay but it was just a super poor cut of meat with a lot of fat grizzle and just hard to chew and enjoy. That was the main focal point of the meal though and I was pretty dismayed. Also heard from other people at the wedding that the scallops were just as bad. Very tiny portion and it had a funky off taste to them. Great location, stunning and in every sense beautiful beyond words. Food and drinks - very meh. Solid Four stars.
