Rented boards from here a few times now. Rates are cheaper than the mountain, and they listen to you in terms of setting up the boards/skis. Also left both time with freshly waxed decks which was awesome. Staff are super friendly too. They do season long rentals for kids and adults for a very good price too. read more

Berg's is a solid option to rent skis and snowboards during the winter months. For only $25, you can get boots, poles, and skis for a day, which is a solid deal. I was pleasantly surprised that the gear was decent quality too--I was expecting the rental gear to be old and a bit worn down, but everything was in decent shape. The employees were friendly, but the service is a bit slow--I waited in line 20-30 minutes before I got my turn to rent skis. It seems like the rental process could be sped up by having a couple of stations for people to pay and enter their information (e.g., height, weight, shoe size, etc.) and another couple of stations to hand out the gear, rather than trying to do all of it at once. read more

This shop is AWESOME!!! Bought my new Atomic ski boots here in SF at Sports Basement. Discovered they were grip walk soles, not compatible with my Alpine bindings. Sports Basement said they did not have the Alpine soles in stock and would order them through Atomic. Great - just need them in 10 days for my big trip to Utah.... Well, 5 days later the Atomic rep says Atomic is out of stock. So I've got my new $600 boots - which are useless!!! Go online and begin searching. Confusing, Atomic's site is terrible, can't find them, do I return the Atomic boots and restart the search after 2 hours trying on boots and get a perfect fit? No - Berg's comes through. it looks like they are the only company on the planet to have the soles I need. I start the order, text to confirm I've got the right parts, they ask for photos of my boots and confirm the right parts. I order Friday afternoon for delivery by Wednesday - the parts ship fedex THAT DAY and are at my house on Monday!!! Amazing service, amazing shop. Thank you Berg's! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY with BERG'S SKI SHOP... Worst online experience ever. Berg's advertises a Helly Hansen Alpha 3.0 ski jacket at a fantastic price $349 (retail $475). I even text them to make sure it wasn't a mistake. They text back that it was real and that they had several of them! So, I jumped on it and paid via PayPal since I'd never done business with them. To be fair, they mention in the fine print that Helly Hansen products might take up to 5 days to ship. So, after 5 days I emailed for an update. No response. The next day I sent a text. Still no response. Then I called the phone number listed on their website and got the familiar fax machine chirp. I waited another few days and went through the same process with no responses. After two weeks, I realized I'd be "had." The jacket was "click bait" and I finally contacted PayPal for a refund. Berg's refunded the money and via text apologized for the "hiccup." It wasn't a hiccup. They are simply dishonest and should not be trusted! Next stop is the BBB. read more

Bought my husband a jacket and he didn't like it. Took it back a few days later with receipt and tags and they noticed something on it. They were able to wipe it off and tried to not take it back. We had not worn it so the spots must've been on it when we bought it and they were extremely rude and tried to tell us we got something on it and did not want to give us our money back even though it fit within their return policy on their receipt! Terrible customer service by Mel their employee. My husband did go back and got the money back but it was the worst customer service we have ever encountered and had to go back twice just to get our money back even though it fit within their return policy. read more

Do not order anything on line from this place. I ordered an Arctery'x jacket on November 10, 2020. I never received a shipping notification so I had to contact them. They only allowed contact via text. On Nov 12 they said it would ship early the following week. On Nov 18 I had to contact them again because I needed the jacket before Thanksgiving. No reply. I contacted them again on Nov 20, they said it would be FedEx'd to be received before Thanksgiving. Nov 21, still no shipping confirmation, so I had to contact again. They said they must have had a "data sharing issue" and it would not arrive until after Thanksgiving. I did call the actual store and talked to Chris. He assured me that I would receive the jacket and they are a small store, he was sorry for the issue and give him another shot. On December1, I still never got a shipping confirmation, so I contacted them again. This time, they said sorry but the item was sold out and will not be shipped. November 10 to December 1 and never got my jacket! Just tell me you are not filling my order. I could have bought it from another vendor, but now I am without my jacket and without any options. If I could leave zero stars I would. They get a zero for customer service. I placed an order on April 26th. It took them over a week to ship the item out. I didn't like the fit, so I immediately returned the item. They received it back on May 9th. By May 14th I had not received a refund, so I emailed them. Over the years ski shops have come and gone in eugene, and somehow Berg's remains. Once upon a time I felt like I could count on good service here... that day is no longer. I was hesitant to write this up, until I considered a parallel universe. It looks like this... just like the folks here at Berg's, I tooI have customers. I have demands. I also have limited resources (time/money/staff). But with this in mind, what I do NOT do is speak to my customers in a way that leads them to think I'm somehow doing them a favor by answering their questions. Regardless of how tight things are. So that brings me the long way around now to two experiences, two days in a row, with three separate staff here. I'll just recap what I mentioned above... pretty unimpressive service. I asked one gentleman (via phone) if he stocked a mens 15 boot. You know, before I drive all the way over from east Springfield. The guy initially said he didn't know, then waffled a little about how busy he/they were, and ultimately checked on it for me. But I don't have any doubt he'd rather have hung up on me. Then the following day I had a similar interaction over the matter of renting snowshoes. I'm getting the very real impression that some folks here aren't dealing with the workload well, aren't particularly well trained, or simply don't give a damn. It's unfortunate in any case. The one guy I did have a good experience with was the guy who answered my questions about jackets and then took my money. So I guess there's that to be thankful for--happy to take your cash, just don't ask too much of them. read more

Placed an order for an Arctery'x jacket on 12/29/16 for a trip that I was leaving for the following Thursday. The holiday weekend caused all sorts of delays with shipping. Gave them a call on Monday and Tim and Sven (I think that's what his name is) took great care of me. Explained to me the shipping delays since they have an offsite warehouse for some of their inventory and that they hadn't gotten it in get. Long story short they overnighted my jacket to me and I received it in time for my trip! Great customer service! I bought an Arc'teryx jacket online and had to send it back for an exchange. The run around I was given after they received my jacket was ridiculous. I kept calling them every two days and every time they took my information and would say someone will call me back. It never happened. Finally after a week of them receiving my jacket I got frustrated and asked my husband to call and while he was on hold we get a tracking number via email and to top it all they said the delay was due to not receiving my jacket which I know was delivered to their front desk per my tracking it. If I could give them negative stars I would. They may be a good store to walk in to but do not make the mistake of ordering from them online. read more

I ordered a set of boot replacement soles online and received an email that my payment went through and my order would be shipped shortly. Well, it's been two weeks and after several emails, with no response, and several calls, with no callback, I have received nothing and have no idea if i every will receive my item. I am trying to get a refund and be done with these guys, but who knows if that will happen, luckily I paid with PayPal, so they have buyer protection. This is the best ski/snowboard shop I've ever been in (and I've been in a lot). Very knowledgeable staff that has been skiing, riding, Nordic, snowshoeing, hiking or finding backcountry runs I've seen. They've been doing it before most of us even thought about it and they were happy to share the knowledge with me..absolutely priceless in my opinion!! I personally won't buy my gear anywhere else and it's payed off again and again. I've personally got the best info from Chris, Svien (sp?) and Ryan in the snowboard department, I could ask for. I'm sure the rest of the staff is good also but I obviously haven't worked with everyone there. I was convinced the only solution to my foot pain was to spend 600$+ on new boots. I went into Bergs with that mindset and asked about a few pairs they had on the wall. The salesperson asked about my current boot setup. After I told him about the used boots I had purchased last season he asked me to go grab them and bring them in. After some measuring and customizing I have boots that feels great for only 100$. They addressed my issues without selling my anything I didn't need. Berg's ski shop has taken care of me time and time again. I had the pleasure of working with Gary to pick out a new pair of boots. The process took multiple trips to ensure they fit perfectly, including visits based on achieving proper arch support and molding the shell to my foot and ski posture (which was complimentary). Gary worked past close to assist me, and--more importantly--I had a great time just hanging out and getting his advice. Gary is not the exception.
