It was placed in my living room, where a 12yr old unit has been struggling to keep this area under 85 even wide open. They came installed the unit and it was up and running before the lunch hour. There was an issue unrelated to the install but needed to be addressed. They stayed and made sure everything was in working order before leaving that day. They men were professional, polite, kind, and knowledgeable about all the issues at hand. They cleaned everything up and all you knew was we had a new unit, no trash, no boxes , and no mess. Courtney had already seen the scheduled appointment for the next day and moved it to an earlier time slot. Connor arrived the next day even earlier than the scheduled time. He proceeded to tell me my 7 year old gaspack…read moreunit heat exchanger was all rusted and had holes in it and was most likely dumping carbon monoxide into my vents and it could kill us. Told me that he legally had to shutoff the gas supply to the unit as it was dangerous. Quoted me ballpark figures of $5k to replace the heat exchanger or even better to replace the entire unit at a cost of $9k-$15k! I immediately called my prior service company and them come out and inspect the unit the next business day. They pulled the blower motor and showed me a very shiny heat exchanger that was in perfect shape. The thing the Preferred technician was showing me was the burner, not the heat exchanger! My prior technician also informed me my unit is still under warranty and the heat exchanger has a 20 year parts warranty so I would only have to pay $500 labor charge to replace it if it was bad. If feel like Preferred Home Services are dishonest and use scare tactics to upsell their unknowing customers on unnecessary repairs and replacements. I attempted to address these complaints with management at Preferred Home Services, but after waiting for 3 days with no call back, decided to post this review. In the course of talking to 3 people, I was aggressively solicited to their annual plan SEVEN times. If I don't know you, and I don't know what your work is like, I'm not commiting to any annual plan. This was sometime last year when I tried their services and yes, they did as asked, but I would not call it budget friendly but maybe something short of harassment and some things I thought might be obvious, weren't. They could have great technicians but they are so focused on the hard sell, you're left just feeling exploited. Even with making my feelings known right to their faces (anyone who answered the phone, both techniciabs they sent) about how I will gladly make sure I complain to at least 3 people for each time I had to listen to a sales pitch, so 21?....I still have six voicemails since wanting to "earn my business"? I can legally call it harassment at this point right?
