I ordered a mushroom turkey cheese omelette & asked if the turkey was real or lunch meat & he replied real, I'm pretty sure it was lunch meat. It was good, also had grits & a pancake. Great diner in north Naples. Huge menu. Went for a late breakfast and had an omlete with mushrooms and cheese and a pancake which came with it and hashbrowns. Omlete was great, not cooked on the flat top, which is good. Hashbrowns were undercooked and flavorless. Pancake was good with cut strawberries and powered sugar. Great prices and good service. We came here for lunch one day, choosing it because of the high reviews. I am sorry but the rating shows as 4.4 when this place deserves nothing above a 3. Sorry--that's just how it is. My wife had a BLT while I had a pastrami on Rye. Her BLT was good and deserves a 4, but my pastrami was well below par. For the price--close to $14, it was very skimpy on meat. Small portion of pastrami. And the rye--Oy Vey!-- it was sandwich bread like from the grocery store, light like a mix of wheat and rye. Terrible bread to put a Pastrami on Rye on. Give my sandwich a 2 at most. The coffee was very blah and watery. Service was ok. Decor is mostly aging pictures of various city skylines. What this is is a Greek/Albanian coffee shop. You need to get the hamburgers, the gyros, the spinach and cheese pie, stuff like that. Think little local greek place. Avoid stuff you might order at a Jewish Deli. We had breakfast. Eggs were undercooked, Hash browns were basically a top crust and not potatoes underneath. Pancake was good. Service was curt and definitely not friendly. It's not inexpensive so charging top prices for sub par food is not a good practice. We did point out the under cooked eggs and got a lecture on what over medium means. Early morning breakfast at this place that we've never been to my husband and I decided to try it out. We were the first ones here and were seated quickly. Had the most unpleasant experience and treatment from the owner of this establishment last month. I have been meaning to post this but have very busy but I could not let the rude offensive language and behavior of this lady who is the owner. I was treated very badly in front the whole restaurant for no reason whatsoever. I simply just didn't like the taste of a what I ordered and I was extremely polite and respectful when I expressed it to my waitress. She informed the owner and she came like a vicious person aggressively questioning me why I didn't like it and that she wasted her food on me. I apologized and told her to please keep her voice down and behave appropriately as I did not raise my voice to her she instead opted to yell out louderso everyone can hear her I asked her to please lower her voice and told her that was not professional behavior and that I would pay for the rest of our order that my family ordered. We paid for the check and tipped our waitress with no problem and she kept on to stating do you do this in all of your outings in restaurants I was appalled by this comment - embarrassing and insulting to say the least. As we get up she yells out get out of my restaurant and I never want to see you again. People were looking and even questioned me what happened. I have never been treated in such a terrible manner. I am an avid restaurant customer in Naples and all over Florida. I personally don't think this is how you approach and handle yourself and run a business. Absolute failure of respect of a customer. I could have stooped to her level but I do not conduct myself in such a disrespectful manner. I gave one star because I couldn't leave zero stars as deserved. read more

Grrrrrrreat waffles! Huge, crispy, fluffy, amazing. Delicious corned beef hash, super crisped and pounded this across the large square plate: the better to splash with Cholula. Nice rye toast. The mimosa choices are fun! I opted for a spiced pear, which arrived with a lovely rim of spiced sugar. Really enjoyable with the HUGE side of crispy wide bacon. The coffee needs some oomph... don't know if I got the light-handed batch, but I was so hoping for strong chewy coffee here. I'm guessing the woman who came out to apologize sweetly for being out of pork chops was the owner. She checked in with every table in a breezy quick way, outside and in. I've had a lot of breakfast spots in Naples and most are run of the mill - I expected the same but Bernie's really stood out. Got the biscuits and gravy platter with eggs and home fries and they were all delicious. Friendly (and quick) service too! This will be one of my "go to" spots for sure! read more

In the same cluster of stores The Pewter Mug is located. Mrs. K wanted to try this place and since it was new to me, I also wanted to give it a try. I had ham and three eggs with hashbrowns and whole wheat toast. It was enough food and very tasty. My eggs, ham, hashbrowns, and toast were all good perfectly and tasted great. Mrs. K. ordered the Strawberry and Banana crepes. I am not a crepe kind of guy, but she gave me a taste. They were outstanding. If this place was slightly more crowded it could have been a problem with only two servers working the whole room. As it was, we had perfect service to go along with the food. read more

One word-Amazing!!! We stopped by on Wednesday(me and 2 friends of mine) for early lunch, they had special "homemade spanakopita" which I got and I loved it!!! My two friends got traditional gyro and avocado Benedict they were charmed with flavor. Based on Bernie's having a 4.4 rating, I must have visited on a very OFF day. Went for breakfast with my wife - and won't be back. Walked into the restaurant at 10.30am on a weekday - approx five tables were occupied - so they weren't busy. A tall male server half greeted us from a distance. We made our way to a booth - where this same server left two menus and walked away. After sitting for about 10mins a female server came by and asked if we had been helped. We said no and she said she would take our order although the male server was assigned to our table. So strike one for service. My wife ordered scramble eggs with bacon, English Muffin and orange juice and I ordered the corn beef hash. The waitress asked how my wife would like her English muffins and my wife requested well toasted. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed the waitress asked this - it was a first for us. The food came out surprisingly quickly - but left a lot to be desired. My wife's orange juice was luke warm and she required some ice . The English muffin was barely toasted and was sent back to be further toasted. The muffin came back toasted as originally ordered - but was cold . My wife's scrambled eggs and bacon were cold. My corn beef hash was about the size of my hand - and was waffer thin. I foaled the wafer thin hash over - and consumed the entire portion in two mouth fulls. Actually the hash tasted pretty good . Here is my main complaint - How can food be served quickly - maybe five minutes after ordering and be served cold ? How can a muffin go back to the kitchen to be toasted - come back toasted within a minute cold. Unless someone has invented how to "cook food cold" - I'm perplexed! All in all a pretty sad experience - needless to say we won't be returning to Bernie's. Too many other good breakfast spots - House of Omelette, Blue Jelly etc. . read more

Bernie's City Diner is a homerun if you're looking for a totally enjoyable dining experience. Starting with the welcoming decor and the vast menu, we were delighted with the food we ordered. But best of all our Food Server, Rosie, was the best we've experienced in a long time! She was just a delight and really elevated the whole dining experience with her "people skills" and knowledge of the entire menu. The Spinach and cheese omelet that she recommended was fantastic and tasted as good as it looked. Rosie is a "personality plus" kind of gal. Bernie's City Diner is now open for dinner offering a delicious line up Mouthwatering food from Greek inspired dishes like Moussaka, Gyro Platter, Saganaki (flaming cheese), Spanakopita (Spinach pie), Souvlaki to American comfort food like Pot Roast, Liver & Onions and Ribs. I was told Prime Rib will be on the menu soon which is a big bonus considering they make a killer French Dip during breakfast and lunch time. The menu offers appetizers, desserts, seafood and salads. I was sat right away and was immediately greeted by the owner who was very outgoing, friendly and helpful. After reviewing the menu I decided upon one of my favorite items, Liver & Onions. I'm very picky about my food my L&O's and this dish was spectacular! Cooked to a perfect medium it was melt in your mouth delicious! Served with a side of mashed potatoes and flavorful green beans. I put this dish up with against any L&O's in SWFL. I also had the Saganaki (Flaming Cheese) that was cooked perfectly and served on a hot cast iron skillet. I discovered this place about a year ago and have become a frequent regular as the food is just that good. Service was excellent and can't wait to return. Tried Bernie city diner based on yelp reviews today. Place was nice and clean service was friendly and attentive. I try the Irish omelette which had corn beef inside with a hollandaise sauce on top. The omelette was huge. The corn beef was homemade and quite tasty. It came with either home fries or hashbrowns I tried the hashbrowns. They were delicious and you could have toast or fruit or a pancake I chose a pancake. It was probably an 8 inch pancake. They had sugar-free pancake syrup, which was great. My friend had the Western omelette with hashbrowns and multigrain toast. Both of us could not finish our meal. It was very large and delicious. Will definitely go back. read more

My breakfast was huge with french toast, eggs, homemade sausage, and home fries. My breakfast was good, but the star of the show was the corn beef. I had major food envy when my husbands food came. The meat was sliced thin and delicious. It was an easy 5 stars! I wanted to eat all of his sandwich. My food was good 3 stars. But the corn beef blew me away! I want to come back and try their other homemade meats. So some things to know before you go to Bernies. Get the corn beef, roast beef or pastrami. All are homemade and the corn beef is easily 5 stars! Just come for the meat. Dont come for the ambiance or anything that isnt homemade. This was a great surprise for me. I have been looking for a good corned beef sandwich in SWFL and I finally found one. When I got here I asked them if they made the corned beef themselves before ordering. So many places around here just buy some from a food distributor and slice off that. I got the normal corned beef sandwich. They had other options with cheese and other stuff on it, but those hide the flavor of the meat. You can tell the difference in the freshness right away when it is made on site. One bite into this sandwich and the juices fill your mouth with that great salty flavor. We went inside the lady told us sit anywhere so we did.. few minutes later I had to get someone to get us the menu, about 5 minutes later still no one paid us any attention it was busy I understand, I'm very forgiving when it comes to that, but for another couple to just walk in after all of this sits down gets handed the menu, water brought out and order taken, while we are still sitting here without anyone even asking if we've been helped.
