We were looking for something quick, and Mel's Diner was exactly what we needed. The service was great, friendly, welcoming, and helpful with recommendations. The atmosphere feels like a classic diner, which I liked. Diners are an American staple where you can usually expect consistent food at a good price. My only issue was that the food was heavily under seasoned. I ordered the chopped steak, which was cooked exactly to my preference but unfortunately it was pretty bland, and the baked potato also needed something to make it stand out. Aside from that, we had a great time.

Atmosphere - nothing special, but a diner's atmosphere does not need to be special, as long as the food is very good. Service - our server was friendly and attentive Food - I ordered the Chop Steak and a cup of chicken noodle soup. Both were served hot and were very good. The soup had ample bites of chicken and the flavor of the broth was great. The Chop Steak (I have no clue what happened to the picture I took) was a large portion and cooked perfectly. The gravy was very good and the mashed potatoes were like homemade. Overall - I love diners and this was a home run for me. It has a huge menu selection, very good service, tasty food in ample portions and the prices are very reasonable.

This spot is a classic diner, both in its decor and the food it serves. We enjoyed a large meal at a very affordable price. I ordered the Country Fried Pork Cutlet, and the pork was crispy and flavorful. The sides were a bit underwhelming and could have used more seasoning. The key lime pie was tasty and made for a nice ending to the meal.

Came in with my dad for an early bird dinner. I hadn't been here in probably close to 15 years and everything was great, just as I remembered. Menu is large and there's no shortage of various items to choose from. I went with the Grouper Oscar special with a crab cake on top, spinach and key lime sauce. Fantastic! Service was great as well. Definitely recommend if you're in the area.

We were hungry and having breakfast at Mel's Diner was a good idea. Our order was brought out fast and the food was served hot with generous portions. Hubs went with the country omelette and hash browns and I decided on the two eggs with potatoes. Both our breakfast choices were served with a biscuit smothered in country gravy. It reminded me of a breakfast my grandma would have made on the farm. The menu has lots of choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The best thing about Mel's is eating real food, not fusion or trendy, but ordinary meals prepared with fresh ingredients. They offer a variety of options for breakfast like pancakes, omelets and interesting items like eggs Benedict with salmon. Their lunchtime menu has plenty of sandwiches and salads, and for the dinner menu, think pot roast, meatloaf and fried chicken. Prices are reasonable here and Mel's is right off Tamiami Trail. A good place to stop by when you're hungry.

Great food...expansive menu..excellent service (Peter was such a helpful and positive server). Naples is lucky to have such a gem like "Mel's Diner"...the General Manager, John, makes sure guests are happy and the restaurant is well run. You can pretty much find anything you are craving on the menu...there's even a millionaire corner (fancy menu items). Love this place!

    Mushroom Swiss Burger

Two of us from our office decided to get hamburgers from Mel's. It was a late lunch and we were hungry. The service was good and attentive. Unfortunately, the mushroom Swiss burgers were both overcooked to our liking. One was ordered medium-rare and the other was ordered medium but they both were served well-done. The burgers were not dry but not great. The bun was very small and dry. Also, the burgers came with lettuce, tomato, pickle, coleslaw, and fries (not pictured).

Pretty good burger. For those who like to drink under a thatched roof outside, there is a tikki hut. The establishment's motif is all over the map. But let's just stay with the island theme in Naples, FL. Would I go back again? I don't know, I have had this book marked, and I have eaten at another of their establishments, Sonny's. From the moment we walked in, the hostesses and manager made us feel welcome and had us seated right away. Our server, Angel, was fantastic. He walked us through the menu, explained how many of the dishes were prepared, and made thoughtful recommendations without ever feeling pushy. We started with the octopus and fresh focaccia with honey. The octopus was exceptional--easily one of the best I've had and on par with dishes I've enjoyed at Michelin-starred and James Beard-recognized restaurants. We also shared the beet and goat cheese salad, followed by the local snapper and the ribeye cap topped with lobster claw and tail in chimichurri. Every dish was beautifully prepared and showcased the quality of the ingredients. The cocktails were well balanced (not overloaded with ice), and the Thyme on Thyme is an easy recommendation if you're looking for something light and refreshing. The wine list paired nicely with the meal as well. Watching the sunset over the water while listening to music drifting across the park made the evening even more memorable. Thanks to Angel and the kitchen for such an outstanding experience. Seventh South has earned a spot on our regular rotation whenever we're in Naples.

For dinner I had the Chorizo Encrusted Red Snapper and my wife had one of the specials which was the Tripletail. She said it was the best seafood dish she has ever had. For dessert, we split the special Crème Brûlée topped with diced fruit. We enjoyed the dessert so much, we purchased one for a sweet family of four sitting next to us. Our server Mike and the owner, Barry, helped make that happen and we appreciate it.

Our server was also the bartender (Jordan) who was extremely welcoming and super friendly. We told her it was our first time there and she gave us the rundown about the menu and some of the local favorites. We got a coconut shrimp appetizer which was delicious and my blackened grouper Caesar salad was beyond divine. I'm so glad I went with that fish option over the mahi. The grouper was extremely fresh, and the portion size was huge! My husband ordered the mahi-mahi Neuben (I.e. Ruben) which he said was surprisingly good! We also tried a few of the signature cocktails, which to my surprise came in tiki glasses! I absolutely love when a drink comes in fun glassware! Our experience at lunch was so great that we raved about it to our family. Which resulted in us coming back the very next day, but for dinner. We had 24 people in our party! I don't think that we would've been able to do this during peak season so if you're looking to bring a large group, definitely go off - season! Our server for the 24 person dinner with Sam and she was also beyond wonderful! She was our only server and somehow managed to wrangle a table full of chatty adults and six children! Kudos to her! Everything we ordered came out amazing! I absolutely loved the Maine Lobster Salad! Came with a huge portion of lobster, which, for the price was really great! The restaurant has an absolutely wonderful ambience and we were so impressed with the experience, the staff and the food considering this was our first time visiting. They're a bit tucked away inside of a private resort, but since they're open till the public, they do have appropriate signage for the location and it's pretty easy to find. Overall, both dining experiences were absolutely wonderful and I beyond recommend visiting Hogfish Harry's if you're ever in the Naples area. 10/10 recommend!

We asked for their first available, which was outside. During summer it's a bit of a risk to sit outdoors, but it was in a covered area. They have a little side patio area, but a lot of the outdoor tables are randomly placed up against the building and in the walkway to accommodate additional guests. It's kind of weird when people that live in the building walk by as the walkways aren't very wide. The inside area of the restaurant is not very large. Our waitress was very friendly and welcoming. Even if she did spill a bit of coffee on me which she was apologetic for. My husband got the crab cake Benedict and I got the strawberry stuffed French toast. Absolutely loved everything! My husband's only note was that he did not like the corn inside crab cake. The cheesy hash browns were definitely a hit for us! The stuffed French toast was divine - basically desert! I like that the dish also came with eggs and bacon! The iced coffee was pretty good as well.
