We were making s'mores that night so they had these graham cracker chocolates and strawberry jelly marshmallows that worked perfectly and kicked up our s'mores night a notch. Service was great, the guy was so friendly and was telling us about different snacks or candies that we were looking at. He even gave a sample of these orange jelly candies that our kids loved!

Each filbert (hazelnut if you're not local) topped with gold and chocolate, the creaminess, the richness, exquisite. Seriously, they deserve a Michelin star. But, that's not all! Don't miss out on the takeaway selections especially for gifts! The chocolate covered mango is a big hit. Today, we also got their pâté de fruit... a simple sort of gummy confection but... OMG!!!! So much intense flavor! We were lucky enough to get these from the patisserie of Gaston Lenotre in Ille de France while he was in his heyday in the early 80's, just after taking the world by storm with his pastries and candies... and ... I'm so sorry "uncle" Gaston... these are a level above your own. There, I said it. This place is historically, internationally good. If you miss out while visiting Hood River... your loss of a lifetime.

The coffee was fantastic, and they had some good non-dairy options for me. The pastry options are beautiful and the eclair we had was delicious. The service was friendly, and we did have to wait a bit for our drinks to be made, but not too long. The space is tiny, so it's more of a place to order food then maybe sit outside if one of the two small tables is available and it's a nice day, or just get it to go. I did think the prices were quite high for the area, and for the quality and items themselves, compared to other patisseries. We spent around $42 for three coffee drinks, an eclair (which was amazing), a croissant, and a couple of macarons (including tip). But, I'm always happy to support a local patisserie and think they do a great job. Worth checking out if you are in town.

I know there are a ton of great farms and orchards in Oregon, so I started my explorations here. I'd read that they have a mean marionberry shake. When I got there, I saw that, for a dollar more, they also had huckleberry. I'm not sure if I've ever tried huckleberry, so I wasn't sure if I would even like it as much as marionberry, which is my favorite. So I picked marionberry, and it was bomb. Although it was on the expensive side for $8.99, it was pretty good. I also purchased a marionberry peach turnover for $5, and thought that was just okay. I loved their selection of high end jams and syrups. They have so many artisan products that would make great mother's day gifts. The girl who helped me was really friendly and made my milkshake right away. She gave me a free map of the Fruit Loop, which is Oregon's chain of fruit orchards with gift shops. Can't wait to explore more of those.

This place has tons of them, basically all of their products, all on a table right in front of the store. Before even taking a step inside, I had basically filled myself with jams, butters, and pickles! We ended up only buying an empanada on this trip, although I was sorely tempted at filling my entire pantry with their jams and jellies, not to mention their pies... If only we had a cooler with us... Huckleberry Empanada ($6.50) - Their huckleberry jam is the best of the ones I've tried. Other places in Oregon, on the Fruit Loop and off, have a dried fruit kind of taste or lean musty in flavor. This one has full bodied huckleberry flavor that's quite fresh. It may be due to them using a different variety of huckleberry? Anyways, it's filled inside an expertly baked outer crust that holds the filling in well and adds some buttery crisp, pie crust like texture. I really enjoyed my visit to Packer Orchards & Bakery. Out of the 7 or 8 stops we made on the Fruit Loop, this, along with their farm location, ended up being my favorite by far.
