Top: Matcha cake Bottom: Earl Grey Mille Crepe Cake
    Mimi P.

Decided to go eat cake at 10pm on a Thursday night. It was my first time having a Mille Crepe cake so I didn't have any expectations. For a first timer, it taste really creamy but heavy. I heard it suppose to taste light? The earl grey tea was strong here. I felt the matcha cake didn't really have a strong matcha taste to it. Overall both cakes were just average and nothing wowing. However, if you need late night cravings for cake they are open till 11:30pm!

Yaya, our Japanese Food Critique on Yelp loves Berry Good as much as I do. However on our last journey to our favourite delicate cake shop, we brought some friends..... uh oh..... and.... They loved it! First thing the Teenager kids mentioned before having their desserts was the way it was decorated. They loved the Tiffany Green wall and the wall on the other side with all the stone bricks. The words Instagram and Snapchat were sprouted excitedly from their eager voices as they took snaps of every nook and cranny of this little shop. Funny how I had already known this but never really got that excited like these kids did. Another generation of Berry Good lovers? You betcha. Berry Good has been kind to us ever since day one. Their food, the service and their style has always been their best. I think this is why we keep returning and introducing new faces to Berry Good. Everytime with a positive experience as you can see here in the pics.

So the reason why I keep coming back to Berry Good is because.... it's one of the few dessert places in Richmond that stay open late. To be honest, there aren't many options if you don't feel like going for bubble tea so the two main late-night dessert places are Berry Good and Yavis Club. Anyways, Berry good was originally a lot better a few years back but recently their quality has been declining. Their famous earl grey cheesecake honestly doesn't taste that unique and isn't worth the price. I would rather pay a couple dollars more for a cake from Thierry! But then again, I live in Richmond so Berry good is a lot more convenient. Recently, I tried their chocolate cake (not the slice, but an individual heart cake covered in chocolate) and it was very dry and bland. It was actually hard to swallow so we had to order a drink in order to wash it down. We also got two of their cheesecakes (very mediocre) and a large matcha roll that looked amazing! However, it only looked amazing and ended up tasting very bland with not much matcha flavour... I'll probably end up here again someday but honestly, it's just okay.

Berry Good is a small Korean-owned cake shop located in Excel Centre which same as Top Gun restaurant mall. I heard from my friend and read the review of it that they're doing pretty good and have a bit high expectation of their cakes. Unfortunately, I was so disappointed of what I had and probably not fair to compare with descent bakery shop. Well... I prefer to pay a buck more to get more tasty and quality of cake. Tiramisu - It looked good but it didn't taste good. The cake wasn't moist and didn't taste much mascarpone cheese, espresso, dark rum. Lemon tart - It full flavour of lemon which sour. Earl grey cheesecake - It's not too cheesy and dense but rather pillowy soft with an almost whipped consistency. NY cheesecake - I would rated below average. It's not rich and flavour. May be they open late at night and the good dessert place at Richmond, that's why they got high rated review. Otherwise, I would go Sweet Spot or L'Opera for dessert

Mango cheesecake (L) and jasmine green tea cheesecake (R)

My friend posted the cakes on her Instagram stories, saying it's a Japanese owned cheesecake place. Since my vacation to Japan a few years ago, I've been craving Japanese cakes and haven't been able to find similar tastes here in Vancouver. So this was definitely being put on the list to try. My group of three arrived right as this place opened. We walked in and were immediately greeted by a Korean lady who was making the cheesecakes. Soon after, another Korean lady arrived for her shift. It was sadly soon established that the cafe is Korean owned, not Japanese. The three of us ordered the original cheesecake, jasmine green tea cheesecake, and mango cheesecake. All three were very average, though I really liked the subtle jasmine flavours in my cheesecake. Unfortunately, these cakes were a far cry from what I was looking for, so the search continues! Prices are very high for what you get, but at least both ladies were very pleasant.

This delightful little dessert cafe is hidden away in Excel Plaza on McKim Way in Richmond, next to Canwest Taekwondo Academy. The proprietress is a young Korean woman who specialized in French and Japanese pastries and is married to a Taiwanese man. This interesting blend of influences shows itself nicely at Berry Good. The place itself is small, some may think it's tiny but like any good tearoom it's very nice and cozy. The decor is lovely, one wall papered in beautiful, old-fashioned floral motifs and the other wall is covered in startlingly modern shale or granite slabs. Somehow it just works. I've tried many of the desserts here and they are amazing. Mango cheesecake, white chocolate cheesecake, green tea chiffon cake, just to name a few. All of these were difficult to eat without shutting my eyes and moaning. They also have exceptionally good dacquois (little meringue cookies) that are, sadly, only available to order most of the time now. The menu boasts all manner of teas, coffees, smoothies, juices and other steamed or cold concoctions available, with decaf and non-dairy options too. The refrigerated display case showcases their available cakes and pastries for the day, which changes all the time. There are even sandwiches on the menu if you need something more substantial. The little details, such as the unique teapots, cups and saucers and spoons are nice touches that add to the presentation of each item. You can see the care and thought put into choosing which drink goes in which cup or glass. A lot of these are not even available in Canada. In a city overrun with bubble tea cafes, this place stands out. Even with its small dimensions, it still offers table service. A drink and a slice of cake runs about $10 per person. Great place for a nightcap, especially if you are looking to please some cake-loving women.

This Korean owned dessert place has been around for awhile. The waitress are very polite. The desserts are not bad as they definitely feels like more home made desserts. If you just want to grab a nice dessert after dinner this is the place to go. The sponge cake of the berry good cake (strawberry shortcake) is quite dry... But he cream tastes pretty good. They have many flavours of cheesecakes! Also lots of different kinds of drinks to order! Warning: this place gets quite busy after 9pm on weekends.

I like Berry Good. There aren't too many dessert options in Richmond and I like their Noir Blanc!

    Sel L.

I had the noir blanc and it was divine! Very light, not too sweet, and the layers were very fluffy. The Cafe Latte was standard. The service was pleasant and prompt. The prices are a tad bit pricey though.

Noir Blanc and Korean Citron tea. Both delicious.

My favorite cake place in the greater vancouver area. My girlfriend took me here once and I got hooked. Their Noir Blanc is amazing! Definitely try if you're up for a decadent chocolate taste that's not too strong. They also have an amazing sweet potato cake during winter. Their price is very fair compared to other cake places around but their quality is the same if not better.

i came here before and didnt have the best time so i decided to give this place another chance. this time i ordered a pot of earl grey tea and the matcha roll cake. i liked that the teapot was kept on a warmer. the cake had great texture-- nice and fluffy, though (similar to my last experience) i felt it was lacking in taste. the portion is fair for the price. what took stars off for me was the depressingly cold service i recieved even though i was friendly and tipped well. disappointing... 2.5 stars

Earl grey cheesecake and hot mint choco
    Micah Y.

I was craving desserts late at night so H recommended this place saying their cakes were pretty good. The shop was located in a remote location and could be easily passed by if you're not specifically looking for it. We arrived at around 10:45 and were lucky that a table had just left. The waitress promptly cleaned it up and handed us the menus. The atmosphere of the place was pretty quiet that night so it was nice to have someplace to rewind and chat while having desserts. I ordered the earl grey cheesecake and hot mint choco and H ordered the white chocolate cheesecake and mango peach cooler. The earl grey cheesecake was not bad, but I wish the earl grey flavor was stronger. The price was also pretty steep for a small slice. The white chocolate cheesecake was not bad either - I liked the dark chocolate crust. However, both H and I agreed that it was a bit too sweet. My hot mint choco drink was yummy but was way too sweet. Next time I'll just stick to tea I think. The mango peach cooler was pretty good but not amazing. Overall, the place was cute and the desserts were decent. I would come again to try other drinks and cakes.

Got the blueberry cheesecake, the cake section at the bottom is a little dry and the food combination with a drink is a little pricey.

Since their shop opened, I have found similar types of Chinese bread in other shops; however, I have never changed my opinion that this shop offers one of the best Chinese bakeries in the Lower Mainland. I visited this bakery again and tried the chocolate bread this time. It seems to be a new product. It was another amazing one. The chocolate sponge on the outside was very fluffy and soft, and the bread inside was chewy and soft. It seems they might use rice flour or something similar. Anyway, I was amazed by their products again. Their signature items, such as pumpkin bread, taro bread, and pork floss bread, are a must-try. The bread's texture is so soft and chewy, and the fillings are perfectly balanced.
