I visited this place recently with a friend who could not stop raving about it. And now I can't stop raving about it! I tried the - chocolate pistachio passionfruit mini cake - choco melo. Both mini cakes were amazing, so rich and decadent! The service was prompt and polite. Seems like a cute spot for a dessert date!

This is my go-to coffee shop! Lovely ambience, staff are friendly and the treats are always on point! I normally get a mocha (served in a tea pot!) with their lovely lemon cake! It's also very aesthetic as they change their decor according to season.

Had a small dinner at a gastropub nearby just so I could leave room for dessert. Boy was I in for a treat! I had the Bananut Croissant and a Mount Coffee Mousse cake paired with Iced London Fog and a black iced tea. The Mount Coffee mousse cake was the star of the show. It was creamy, just melted in your mouth, and had the perfect balance of sweetness to counter the bitterness of the coffee. The choconut croissant had a beautiful lamination but I think next time I will go for a simpler flavor as the chocolate hazelnut and banana was a lot going on. Tasted delicious like a banana pudding married Ferrari rocher in a pastry.

Another bakery near my place, Melo Patisserie is a very underrated shop tucked away in Mt. Pleasant area. While space is a bit limited, I love how feminine and flowery their decorations are, with the design changing every few months based on the season/occasions. Service can be a bit slow due to limited staff, but they've always been friendly and accomodating to my requests. I've rarely heard people recommending their croissants, but it's definitely one of the best in town. Sadly stocks are quite limited and they don't even make the double baked ones everyone. Do call them ahead of times if you are planning on getting the almond ($7) or bananuts ($7) croissants. Croissants are always perfectly golden and buttery without being burnt. Their layers are beautiful with nice crisp while still being soft inside. Normally I would always prefer almond croissant, but for me the bananuts is actually the highlight from Melo. The banana, hazelnut, and chocolate make such a nice flavour combination. The almond croissant is also excellent, with generous almond on top and just the right amount of filling. The paste inside was also not too sweet yet rich with almond paste.

I love Melo Patisserie. This is a nice place. My butter croissant and lovely lemon dessert are pretty delicious.

An adorable café with delicious pastries and drinks. My chocolate croissant was super flakey (though I forgot to ask for it warmed up). I love that my tea was presented in a sturdy teapot and the flavour of the chamomile flower was light and floral. Service is friendly; I was greeted with a smile and dishes ordered were brought out to your table. Note there is only a 1 hour seating limit.

I was looking for pistachio cakes and found that they sell Pistachio Passion Chocolate cake here. I called the night before (near their closing time) and they were able to accommodate my request to pick up the cake the next day! Amazing service. The cake was so delicious. If you like pistachio, this is definitely a must try. The passion fruit's tart flavour balances out the richness and creaminess of both the chocolate and pistachio. We are definitely coming back here to try their other pastries.

They have fantastic fresh cookies, and a lovely atmosphere. The space is small, but adorable. Last year at Christmas time they had a brilliant decoration, unique and creative. I most often go for the cookies, but the croissants, soups and cakes are not to be missed.

Cute little place which is very welcoming. Parking is very hard to find here so maybe it caters more to people living and working in the hood. Or if you take transit. Do try it if you are in the area. It has a small menu for breakfast and sandwiches/salads but prices are fair and food is good. I tried the blackforest ham and Brie croissant sandwich. It was a simple ham and cheese sandwich which was made to order. The croissant was flaky delicious and the Brie made it so yummy. I liked how salad was an optional add on for $2. Sometimes you just do not want your greens. I also had the flat white and financier. The financier was nice. The flat white was more like a cafe au lait, there was hardly any microfoam. It was good though, smooth with no acidic aftertaste. I will just get regular latte or something. I will definitely want to come back to try the cakes which look so good. Oh and they also sells other stuff like biscotti, coffee beans and jams. I bought an Earl Grey tea jelly. There are seatings indoors and outdoors.

Ordered some cakes for pick up. We tried the passionfruit chocolate cake, coffee cake and black forest cake. The passionfruit chocolate cake tasted somewhat one dimensional. It was also on the sweeter side. I liked the additional layer of passionfruit. It added the freshness to it. But the rest of the cake layers tasted very average. Wouldn't order this cake again. The coffee cake was a crowd pleaser. It wasn't overly sweet. It had a good amount of coffee flavour. It tasted almost like a coffee pudding. Very soft, smooth and supple. You won't get sick of this cake. The black forest was probably our least favourite. It didn't have much cherry or liquor flavour to it. Tasted more like a chocolate cake than a black forest. Would definitely recommend the coffee cake. I would want to go back and try their croissants etc as they look delicious.

Came here on a Monday around lunch because the pictures on Google had looked good. Sadly it didn't live up to my expectations. It's not what I would think of as a French/European bakery. There weren't that many baked goods as options and the mousses available all looked "American", and like they would be fairly sweet. I ordered the "Chocolate passion ganache" (dense chocolate fruit mousse with raspberry topping). I asked to eat it there and was hoping to just get my pastry on a plate. But I was told that I need to go sit down and they would bring me my food (literally just one item). Because there were other customers in line, it took a while for me to get my single item brought out, which was a small inconvenience. And while this isn't the shop's fault, as I was waiting to eat at one of the outside tables (which do have umbrellas), some construction workers just 50 meters away began jackhammering through asphalt, creating a lot of noise and unpleasant smell. So I didn't want to linger. This made the additional wait time very unpleasant. The passion ganache itself was fine. Texture was like a dense mousse. The passionfruit flavor was pretty light. It mostly tasted like chocolate. The raspberry topping was weirdly thick and sticky, like too much gelatin had been cooked in; It was very difficult to cut with a metal fork and didn't have a great mouthfeel. I probably wouldn't come here again, even though the place looks nice, it just didn't live up to my expectations.

Delicious cakes! We tried the triple chocolate and the dark chocolate cakes and they were so good! Great texture and presentation. The logo is made of paper and not chocolate, so be sure not to eat it :P

Mini cake - 8.5/10, Got the black forest mini cake ($8.75). High quality ingredients. Chocolate is very smooth and rich. A surprise inside as described. Lovely serving plate. Would be nice to try other cakes to give a more overall rating. Price $8.75 to $8.85 for small cakes. Service - 10/10, Welcoming. Ordered at the counter, cake brought out with a glass of water, utensils, and napkins. Ambiance - 10/10, very cute and cozy spot. Feels the same as a high tea spot. Good with friends or on a date.

Since my mother cannot eat overly sweet desserts, I only planned to buy one single macaron for myself. Throughout ordering, I smiled and spoke polite, proper English without any disruptive behaviour. One female staff member asked "only one?" twice in an exaggerated, mocking tone after I confirmed my small purchase. During checkout, two female staff exchanged eye contact and snickered quietly at us. Right after I pushed open the entrance door and was still halfway out of the shop, they burst into obvious, loud laughter directed at me and my mother. When I calmly asked what they were laughing about, they stared at me and kept jeering without a single word of explanation. These macarons are sold at a very high premium price in downtown Vancouver. If the shop required a minimum spending amount, clear notices should have been posted in advance. Without any posted purchase rules, every customer deserves the freedom to pick any number of items they want, rather than facing open ridicule from employees. I cannot stop wondering whether visitors of other ethnic backgrounds buying just one macaron would receive this same cold, mocking treatment. This upsetting encounter ruined the mood of both my mother and me entirely. Vancouver is famous for multicultural friendliness and inclusive hospitality. It is truly disappointing that a world-famous premium French pastry brand allows such unkind, judgemental service toward guests here. I have submitted a formal complaint to Ladurée global headquarters and attached storefront photos as proof for this review. Travellers and local residents should think twice before visiting this location.

It was a huge hit with everyone! The 6 inch cake was $69 and I added a customized birthday message on chocolate for an extra $3 which was a nice personal touch. They also offer a gluten free option for an additional $10 which is great for accommodating different dietary needs. One thing to keep in mind is that you'll want to order online well in advance because their cakes sell out quickly. I can definitely see why. They're fantastic! I'll be ordering from Gary's Patisserie again for future celebrations.

Gary's only allows to order the fresh mango cakes up to one week ahead to ensure they have enough ripe mangos, which I admire their dedication. We ordered the 6 inch cake for 9 people (7 adults and 2 kids) and everyone got a thin to average slice. The cake is definitely prettier than the other fresh mango cakes on the market, has a lot more mangos that are perfectly ripe and sweet, there is less wipped cream, and the sponge cake is softer. The family agreed that Gary's has the best fresh mango cake but at $69 for a 6 inch cake, versus $43 for a 6 inch mango cake from Saint Germaine, a cake from Gary's is definitely a treat and for special occasions. Is Gary's worth the premium price? I think so but not everyone in my family agreed. One thing to note: Gary's do offer cake in a jar that's $8.50 each. When we went, they had a BOGO deal with the mango cake jars. My nephew asked my sister to buy the BOGO deal knowing that the 6 inch cake was not going to be enough, as the kids like having a second slice of cake.
