We grabbed take out from here after dropping our freshman son off at NU for winter quarter. Ordering was a breeze, and the food was fantastic! The place is super cute and not too busy, which is great because some times you don't want to be bothered by people. Had a great gluten free turkey wrap " Tasha's Secret." The ambience is charming and welcoming. The coffee delicious and the portions just perfect. It's located right across form the Evanston Post Office in the heart of Evanston-easily accesible with ample metered parking in area. read more

Paid $8 for a sandwich on a bagel thinking it would be fresh food and hood portion at that price... what I got was a very small bagel sandwich I could make at home. Thinnest bacon they could manage, So little avocado I had to go looking for it and cheap products (clearly inexpensive packaged bagels/meat/cheese). I expect better than that and at least bakery breads/bagels at that price. It doesn't even come with a side. Total ripoff. The couches and chairs in the back also look and feel dirty and old. It would have been 1 star but The service was good and owners seem nice, just a shame the food quality doesn't match. read more

The best bagel sandwiches (reminds me of East Coast delis), delicious waffles, great coffee and chai lattes (non-dairy subs available), friendly owners and staff who really care. I came in by chance at lunch having the worst day and this place made my day marginally better! The lady at the counter was extremely nice as I opted for one of the vegetarian bagel. I ordered it to go but the homey feeling the café offers had me sticking around longer. The bagel was exceptional and the coffee almost as good! I would definitely recommend! read more

I went to Berry Pike for the first time to meet with someone. Not used to their menu, I asked a few questions and purchased a sandwich and drink. I paid and tipped then awaited my order. When my drink arrived I immediately noticed it was milk. Shoot. Did I mention alternative? I came back to the front register and politely asked them if they had alternative. To which the kind young man responded yes. I apologized that I forgot to mention it and he then made me a new one. I saw him start to ring me up but I thought maybe he's just making a note of it. Nope. The manager walked to my seat to leave me the receipt to be paid. I came back to her more bewildered than responsive. She explained that she still had to use the products so therefore I must pay for the first and second drink. When I asked her if she treated all of her customers like this when they make a mistake she pushed a little more then eventually deflected and said ok we'll make it for you. You don't have to pay. I let her know, I can pay the $5. I just hope you're not making an exception for me and continue to treat your customers like this just because I stood up and complained. That's not true customer service. If they want to run a store. By all means. Everything has a specific price. But even they have customer service. But you want people to come back by punishing them for their mistakes? Next you'll be charging for straws & napkins! The rule of thumb in hospitality goes, if it's not half way consumed you replace it for free. Happily! No matter whose mistake it was. This is 15+ yrs of NYC hospitality experience talking. So I've been on the other side. But instead to argue with the customer and then finally giving up as if to say "ok fine I can't get more money out of you." Cause trust me you won't again. Good chai, decent sandwich, the Worst Customer Service I've received this year. I recommend a cafe where you smile harder on your way out :-) not on your way in. :-( read more

Spent $35 dollars for a bunch of burnt waffles. Shameful that someone would actually send these out for delivery instead of remaking them. This is not okay. Then the owner or chef (?) tried to talk down to me, as if I have never had waffles before and didn't know about "fancy waffles". read more

I love Berry Pike! I recently moved to downtown Evanston and live around the corner, so I figured I would try it out. They are exceedingly friendly, and they always get my order exactly right. The woman who usually handles the counter is very attentive when making drinks, which I really appreciate! They have almond and soy milk, and the same sizes/options/flavors that you would have at a chain coffeeshop. No complaints at all, and I'll be back often! read more

What a great option to have here in Evanston. I've eaten here twice now and am thoroughly thrilled that I've found this spot. The place is bright, warm, welcoming, and clean. Things such as sweetener, napkins exedra are easy to spot and are always completely stocked. The service is friendly, reasonably fast, and accommodating. And there is plenty of seating including a nice area outside. The first time I was there I got a turkey sandwich on an everything bagel. The toppings were fresh, the turkey and the bagel were warm which was a nice contrast to the cold ingredients and they do not skimp on the ingredients in the least. My bagel was packed. So, this morning I went back to give them a try for breakfast. I got a bagel with lox, cream cheese, and capers. Wow. The bagel was warm, fresh and soft. They once again did not skimp on the cream cheese or the lox both were plentiful. The lox tasted fresh and against the warm bagel and cream cheese were just melt in your mouth good. And the capers were a nice little accompaniment. The lattee I got was delicious as well. Warm and frothy. Also they serve it in this huge mug reminiscent of the coffee cups on the TV show Friends. That's another thing I really like about this place even though the restaurant is essentially a fast food place. The food and beverages, if you're eating their obviously, are served in nice mugs and on nice plates that you would expect to find in a more expensive sit down type restaurant. It's a really nice touch. Also they have music playing but it's not loud it's just soft and in the back ground to set a nice mood. Also the prices given the quality of the food are very reasonable. I live right around the corner and frequent at Berry Pike. I usually come in on weekends and order breakfast bagels for my boyfriend and I. I have never had a problem until a few weeks ago, and therefor my reason for writing this review. I came in on a Sunday morning on our way to Wisconsin- no line, no crowd. I proceeded to order my usual: everything bagel with eggs, bacon and cheese. I repeated my order twice to the man. When he repeated it back to me, it was wrong and missing egg. I told him for a THIRD time what my order was, and he then repeated exactly what I ordered back. We paid, waited for our order, and left. 15 minutes down the road, we open my sandwich to find no eggs. I understand people miss things, but I had repeated my order multiple times. I called Berry Pike, who said their manager would get back to me about the missing item in my order. I receive a call shortly after from the manger explaining that I in fact never ordered egg in my bagel, and that they could not do anything about it. Honestly, I have worked in this industry before, and the customer is always right. I know what I ordered, and the least you could do was give me a $1-$2 off my order for the missing item. This is not the way to run a business. While I love coming here for a great cup of coffee and breakfast bagel, I will not be returning based on poor management. read more

I've been here several times for breakfast. Their breakfast bagel sandwiches are great, as are their waffles, advertised as "authentic Liege waffles." Whatever that means, they are delicious, and come either plain with powdered sugar, or in several dessert-like varieties. No syrup available, which may seem weird, but maybe they don't do syrup in Liege. Still very tasty plain. Waffles were a little challenging to eat with plastic utensils, but the manager said they're changing to metal silverware, so no worries there. Lots of beverage options, small selection of muffins, croissants, etc. A solid, pleasant little restaurant I plan to return to often. read more
