Berryessa is a family-friendly beer garden that just happens to be having an identity crisis as a winery. It's a logistical masterpiece: a brewery and winery on one property, ample parking, a food truck, covered seating, and live music to drown out the chorus of "Are we leaving yet?" I opted for their wine tasting, which I can only describe as a "DIY Guessing Game." A cashier, doubling as a silent sommelier, poured a series of mystery liquids into my glass with the solemnity of a secret agent passing a coded message. What were the notes? The varietal? The tragic backstory of the grapes? The world may never know, as tasting notes were apparently classified information. The tasting is free if you buy a bottle, which is a brilliant strategy. By the end, you're so desperate for a label with information on it, you'll happily pay. It's the perfect spot to bring the family, enjoy the scene, and have a glass of... well, something red. This is for both the Beer & Wine Drinkers in your life! I had an awesome experience at Berryessa with a large group because this location has direct access to both their brewery and winery location. It is the best of both worlds! Additionally, this place is perfect for both large groups because there is plenty of seating outside. I got their wine tasting, which I highly recommend! Not only were the pours were of good size, the wine tasting fee is waived if you purchase a bottle. The difference between purchasing a bottle and the wine flight is less than ten dollars, so it is definitely worth it! Tips for visiting: There is plenty of parking, so don't concerned about that. The food options are pretty limited because they have one food truck, which I believe alternates. We got gyros, which were okay. Came here during the holiday week on a rainy day. Has some indoor seating and a more outdoor seating thankfully protected from the rain. Beautiful view of the hills and some vineyards. Staff is friendly and helpful. They allow you to sample the wine and we opted to get a bottle of the Sarah. Personally don't know too much about this grape but it was very balanced, little on dryer side. Berryessa Gap Winery on Highway 128 After our wine tasting experience at their tasting room on Main Street we headed on over to their estate where they grow their vineyards on Highway 128, about a 5-min drive (2.2 miles). Berryessa Gap Vineyards has two wine tasting locations. This is their production facility. They also have a tasting room in this location. Food truck today, Sunday, was provided by Buckhorn Grill. We were planning on purchasing food here but we spent a little too much time at their tasting room on Main Street and we were coming on close to our reservation at another winery in Clarksburg. Bummer! we had to skip the food. There are plenty of outdoor seating including picnic tables, lounge chairs, and outdoor patio furnitures. Indoor seating is very limited. There is a stage for a live band, I think they only have live music entertainment on Saturdays. Visited on a very busy Saturday afternoon. Berryessa Gap Vineyards has two tasting locations. This is their production center that is shared with the Berryessa Brewing Company next door. They also have a tasting room on Main Street in Historic Downtown Winters. Lots of outdoor seating. Make a reservation on the weekend for a lounge chair or opt for a picnic table. Limited inside seating available inside the airconditioned tasting room (which was nice to cool off in the 106 F valley heat wave). The wines were accompanied by a nice charcuterie board. The smoked gouda was so delicious and perfect to pair with the dried fruits and smoked almonds. You can also buy cheeses, meats or dried fruits for a nice snack. I am definitely going to cut my larger pieces of dried fruits like this in the future when building charcuterie boards. Christopher helped us with our wine tasting and we had a good time as our second stop of our self guided tour. This place had it's AC on full blast and we were delightfully chilled as we were instructed to sit at a table until we could be helped with our wine tasting. The place was so clean, bright, and decorated with purchasable art. There is two tasting menu's here, one that includes white wine and a second that is only red. You don't get to choose, they have a ready made set of 5 wines for you. I loved the bright and crispy white wine that was served first- my favorite of the ones samples. Christopher also gave us a little decanter of water for us to share and little stemless glasses for the water. While waiting for another sample, one of my boyfriend's favorite past times of scaring me playfully ended with me knocking over the little decanter of water onto the table...not intoxicated! Just easily scared! haha. Chris helped me clean it up and said "At least it wasn't the wine!" - I agree Chris! The chalkboard said there was live music at 6 but that time came and went without a sound. I didn't ask, Chris was a busy guy at that time but I hope they do have live music. Visited Berryessa Gap Vineyards on a Sunday afternoon. We made sure to make reservations and they were also kind enough to adjust our reservations when we said we were running late earlier on in the day. Located in Winters, CA not too far from the Napa Valley but more towards Sacramento with quality tasting wines without the high price from the Napa Valley. Ray was our server and he went above and beyond with explaining their history and the quality of their wines, he was very hospitable. Berryessa Gab Vineyards has highly rated wines and they did not disappoint. They are also located in connection next to Berryessa Gap Brewing. They had a food truck outside and it looks like you can bring your own food. Perfect for the entire family and friendly for kids and pets. I arrived at the Vineyard on a late Saturday afternoon. I was pleased to find a fairly open atmosphere with a lovely ambiance. At first sight, I was drawn in due to the picnic tables, lounge style seating, fire pits and string lights. I just loved the vibe. I entered the tasting room and was assisted by Linda. She didn't seem entirely knowledgeable about the wines but she was friendly enough. I was granted a complimentary standard tasting that included one white, one rose and three red wines. However, they do have a all red tasting available as well. They pour your first tasting and then send you on your way to find a seat. Linda then returned every 10 or so minutes with the next tasting. We were also given a complimentary snack assortment that cake very handy when drinking the wine. I enjoyed their 2019 Verdejo the most, probably because I prefer whites. Lol, however I did enjoy their Non-Vintage Gozar Red Blend! We actually ended up purchasing a bottle to bring home to enjoy. I could totally see myself returning with more friends and my husband! There is a brewing company right next door and I couldn't help but think that was so perfect! My husband isn't a huge wine drinker but he would love to try local brews and I could sip my wine. Came here as part of Yelp's Passport to Yolo Wine Country. A great selection of wines, though I am no sommelier. I enjoyed everything, and they gave pretty generous pours. Luckily there was a buckhorn food truck for me to get some much needed carbs to soak up the alcohol. They also provided a cheese board with dried papaya(? I think) , nuts, and goat cheese. Service was great, as soon as we finished, they stopped by with the next bottle. We made a reservation beforehand and showed up right when they opened. Make sure to tip! This was our third tasting room during Yelp's Passport to Yolo Wine Country. This place is 5 minutes away from downtown Winters. It featured the same 5 wines we had from the Berryessa Gap tasting room but we were curious at what this place was all about. This building is adjacent to the Berryessa Brewing Co. Upon arriving, the sizzling 104°F heat was already scorching the gravel parking lot and we hurried onto the air-conditioned comfort of the tasting room. It wasn't as aesthetically presentable as the other tasting rooms in the area but it served it's purpose. I visited this place as part of the Yelp passport on a blistering 108 degree day, I haven't visited any wineries in Yolo county but this place really blew me away. It was my last stop for the day and while they did have the option of sitting outside I opted for a spot right next to the entrance. The tasting room for Berryressa is not very big but had a nice quaint feel. I was pleasantly surprised that the tasting included one of their snack plates and it was a nice surprise. The snack plate is normally 10 dollars and would have definitely been worth picking up even if it wasn't complimentary. Our server was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. She knew quite a bit about the wine and was engaging throughout our tasting. We even got a chance to try another extra wine. We went to the main production facility, not the tasting room in downtown. This area is setup for indoor and outdoor tasting but it's off the main road so the ambiance is not great. The brewing company had a live band so we got to enjoy that. The wines were good. Not up to Napa standards, even though they are so close to Napa. Of course, affordable tasting fees and wine prices. I grabbed a magnum of their Reserve Durif (Petite Syrah). I normally like to taste at the winery, but in this case, I want to try the tasting room instead for a future visit. read more

Hubby & I used the Groupon for our tour. It was super easy to book. We just emailed Lynda , and got a reservation within 2 weeks. I really like this cute family vineyard. We've been wine tasting before, but at other bigger venues. The facility itself is a bit small, but very intimate. Our tour guide showed us the barrel room, where they prep the grapes, and also had roots laid out to show us. The wine tasting room is private and seated 10 people total. Our party of 2 was joined by another family of 4, so it was comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the red wines, and we were happy that our tasting came with snacks! I liked the cheese a lot, & hubby devoured the salami blocks. They also served us mascono almonds (I'm hoping I spelled that right). Those were yummy too. I'm really glad that I made the reservation and choice to visit this winery . Even if I was SOLO today. Due to traffic I arrived right at my reservation time. I had a flawless check in and was able to get started on my tasting right away. I was able to enjoy a reserved table outside with my pairings. The atmosphere was great! Seeing others gather and partake in conversations and shipping's. Even saw a couple of pets . There was also a Buckeye bbq truck there and some great overhead music. Towards my last tasting I chose to go inside with the AC and just converse with the hostesses that were assisting throughout the visit. Just asking a couple of questions spark in a conversation. Was informed that the location had been open even during the Covid process but more less for a curbside experience. And that sometimes on Saturday nights they also have a life performance in music on the premises too. They also have the option of a barrel purchase.or bottles. Which is what I did. (A bottle ) that is lol. Which qualified for a 15% off purchase. I would have loved to stay longer. But I was my driver. Had a Greek Thavma food truck at the location. Beautiful cool day. Just perfect weather. Music is festive and off the wall various tunes. Even had some yoddeling. Loved it. Split gyro sandwich with BF. Perfect taste. Had the lamb riblets. So fresh and great seasoning. Had a $20 wine tasting which included five wines. The tastings were generous. I came here as part of the Passport to Yolo County. We came here during a super hot day so we decided to do the wine tasting indoors. The wine tasting room was very small with 2 tables available. As we got up to the bar, I mentioned that I was here for the Yelp Elite event. Turns out that it was recommended to make reservations and I was glad they did not turn me away. We got to try 5 different variety of wines. Out of all 5, I really enjoyed the red blend. I enjoyed it so much that we ended up buying 2 bottles to take home. Unfortunately, as I got home, I realized the older lady charged us regular price and didn't apply the 15% off for us due to the event, which was a bummer! Interesting Yelp fact: for a long time, I was actually the Duke of Berryessa Brewing Company (more than 100 check-ins!!!), but not once have I ventured next door to check out Berryessa Gap. Thanks to Yelps Passport to Yolo, this injustice has been reversed. Arrived at the tasting room on a hot Sunday afternoon and confirmed that they were still honoring Yelp Passport for tasting. We decided in advance that we will pick up a bottle to go so the second tasting fee would be waved. We did two mixed flights which consisted of one white, a rose, and 3 reds. The wines were all very good and they even served us some light snacks to wash out the lingering taste in the mouth in between pours. The clear favorite on a triple digit day was the 2019 Verdejo, crisp and refreshing. I also liked the rose and the reds were nice too, but perhaps a bit heavy for a scorching day. We took the bottle of Verdejo home as this was obviously the one we liked most. The tasting room is simple and relaxing and offers a lot of shade, but when visiting better check the forecast because Winters gets hotttt! There is of course seating inside too, but the space is limited. Berryessa Gap might just be the best of the wineries we tried with the Yolo Passport and we will definetly be back soon. Came here on a blazing hot 106 degree Saturday and was pleasantly surprised to see such a large covered patio (it is adjacent to Berryessa Gap Brewery), with lots of live plants, water fixtures, fire pits, large picnic tables and couches to lounge on. There was even a food truck serving greek food! This was our 2nd stop for the day and my husband and I were quite hot so we decided to do our tasting indoors which was less decorated but definitely fulfilled its purpose. We decided to do the mixed wine tasting included in the Yelp Passport event and received a complimentary charcuterie plate which included some dried apricots, salted almonds, and two cheeses. There was only two servers and with multiple large parties doing tastings outside, our server seemed to be a bit stretched out in terms of his duties and didn't spend a whole lot of time explaining the different wines to us. However, he never let us go too long without the next wine coming in so he definitely kept an eye out for us! Be prepared to feel unwelcome and like a nuisance. We came out for a tasting on a Sunday afternoon and had a few very awkward interactions with the staff. The first was when the woman working in the beer tasting room came out and mildly harassed a table next to us - questioning them about their dog who she heard second hand was being unruly. The dog was well behaved except for when another guest walked by it and their dog barked at him, he seemed surprised and barked back. She did not approach the other guests, but she threatened to ask the guests sitting near us to leave. The way she addressed the situation was rude, cold and accusatory. No hello or how are you, she went right into asking a series of questions. She came out a few moments later pointing out the picnic tote on our table which we'd been snacking from the entire hour we were there. She asked if she could look inside to make sure we didn't have any margaritas hiding inside. She tried to laugh it off as I assured her that we didn't try to sneak alcohol into a winery. Myself and another person in my party are both Mexican (as was the table with the dog). I felt very put off and a bit embarrassed that she would say that. Additionally, she didn't even greet us with a hello, she just went right to accusing us about smuggling in liquor. The last straw was when my husband and son went to walk to the wine tasting room side to check it out. My husband had his glass of beer that he'd purchased from the beer tasting bar that is on the same property but on the other side of the building. He walked into the wine tasting room and wasn't greeted or welcomed but told rather rudely that he had to leave because he was holding a beer. If that's the policy, it was not communicated to us nor was there a sign saying you couldn't walk up with a beer that was sold and brewed by the same company. My husband felt unwelcome so he immediately exited and came back to our table and we left shortly after that. I planned to purchase a bottle of wine, but after my husband was asked to leave the wine tasting room, I went back paid for my unfinished tasting and we left. I will not be coming back nor will I be purchasing Berryessa Gap wine or beer. It's unfortunate, because I would liked to have continued to support a local business. We came to celebrate a birthday and cut our visit short because we were utterly disappointed at the customer service. Go elsewhere - Ruhstaller in Dixon is a great place to start. We headed there after our experience at Berryessa and it was the polar opposite vibes. Nice, down to earth people that make you feel like you're at home. read more

You know when you have people in town and you feel like you must show them all the California things the entire time? And then you're really exhausted/spoiled when you start thinking an hour and a half is "sooo far"? After two weeks of family and friends and a million other things, I was not feeling the idea of driving out to Napa to do the whole wine tasting thing. I hopped on Yelp and found Berryessa Gap Vineyards and Turkovich Wines, both of which I have driven by a bunch of times and not stopped at, what a shame! I can't believe I've been hoofing it to Napa when this little gem is so close! Berryessa Gap Vineyards offers loads of parking. Easy to find and easy to get to. The tasting room is very unassuming and not loaded with tchotchkes that you sometimes find at tasting rooms. Pretty simple, here's our wine, here's some local olive oils we offer, and you're greeted by a very friendly staff member right away! I'd say these guys, and gals, offer more of a lighter wine. I suppose I'm more of a darker red wine kind of woman, but I still found a great 2014 Chardonnay that was perfect. My guest, who told everyone she hated red wine fell in love with the 2012 Barbera! It's more of a Pinot Noir depth, but she loved it none the less! Some fun facts, they ship! Anywhere you want your wine to go, no worries, let them box it and deliver it to you - including the East Coast. They share a large parking lot, building and bathrooms and patio with Berryessa Brewing Company. Just know that wine and beer may only be enjoyed at the same time at the tables on the brewery side bordering the chain divider. Weird, but that's the law there. Also, the brewing company does not share the same hours, and is run by different people, so the experience and the hours are completely different. The patio is also dog friendly and offers plenty of shade. I am bringing friends back! Join the wine club here and you can also use the facility. Great winery, great wines! Very good atmosphere and the staff is always friendly.This place is dog & kid friendly too. They also have a beer room for those who don't drink wine. Most of the times I've been there they have a food truck so that you can get a small bite to eat while enjoying their wines. They also have a band playing there on weekends, not sure about during the week though. We are members of Berryessa Gap and we really like their wines. My only complaint about this place is the hours. I feel that they don't stay open late enough on weekends and especially in the summer months. read more

The only 2 things that would have made it better for me would have been a few more food trucks for some variety (Lake a taco truck or Mexican food) and the second thing they should consider is some sweet wines, which they don't have any.
