A gourmet little market out in the middle of rural nowhere
    Wendy B.

We managed to get ourselves lost. Had to turn around and backtrack 13 miles. But we passed by here twice, and after seeing it for the second time, and since I was driving, it was a no brainer. Cute and quaint little Bertuccio's Market made me do it. Stop I mean. Hollister. This area is so rural, so agricultural, so out of the way, so in touch with local produce. Bertuccio's had to be special from the looks of things. Outside the market were displayed dried corn stalks, big and little pumpkins of many colors, and of course, the obligatory scarecrows. How can you not resist? Not at all a market for the purchase of ordinary goods. They were more of a tiny Casa de Fruita. Inside were quaint displays of dried fruits, nuts, veggie chips, custom jams, salsas, olive oils, and gift baskets. All high priced but extra special....yummy gourmet foods. Yes, they have some fresh local fruits and vegetables, but the big draw for me was to get some of those local, food items with custom labels. I came away with a bag of dried carrot chips, a bag of dried mixed vegetable chips, apricot preserves, raspberry jam, and slab apricots, and wishing I could get more. This is a fun little stop.

In a world of new hybrids, durable-skin fruits, and so on, the finding of this store with their stashes of Blenheim Apricot products was a god-send.

I love stopping at Casa de Fruta as a midstop on a trip to refuel, stretch, and relax. I really…read morelike that their upkeep has gotten a lot better recently, and they have more stores open now where you can shop, get snacks, and buy fresh food. They finally closed down their old restrooms and upgraded to a large style restroom building that can accommodate multiple people at once. In the men's restroom, there are multiple stalls and urinals available now, which is a huge improvement compared to what they used to have with that small, tiny restroom by the parking area. The service was good overall. There are a lot of younger employees working there, and while most of them were very enthusiastic, the some just seemed like they were just there, but I have no real complaints about the experience. I would definitely recommend coming to visit and relax here during your road trip since there is a little something for everyone to enjoy.

Casa De Fruta is a staple of this area. I grew up in Hollister, and apparently I went here often,…read morebut this was my first time that I have an actual memory of. We loved checking out the property and exploring the several different buildings they offer, filled with goodies of all kinds. While many of the buildings have overlapping items for sale, each building has its speciality. A deli, a candy, coffee, and ice creamery, and a market. We also had a blast riding their train, carousel, and playing on the playground. I felt that many experiences here were affordable, while some of the products for sale were a bit more expensive. Overall, a good value. You can spend as little or as much as you want to here. All of the workers we encountered were friendly, and we had a great time at Casa de Fruta overall. It's certainly worth a visit if you're in the area, but I probably would not recommend driving hours to come here. It's no Disneyland, but still a very cool spot!

I think they hire random ppl or security companies because i saw another review on google reviews on how her daughters wedding, Swank farms "randomly hired" a guy off the street, sounds similar to what happened to my family while we waiting in the line to the maze. My father in law kept asking security about letting people cut lines, security doesn't care and quote "I am not their employee I just stand here to look nice for the company" so i believed it. I'm not surprised if they'll hire more inexperienced security.

I held my daughter's Quinciañera at Swank Farms Venue! July 2025. Here are the pros & cons of this…read morevenue: Pros: - Beautiful Indoor/Outdoor Venue with plenty of parking - I was able to bring my own caterer - I had access to space from 8am to 11:30pm Cons: - Venue Manager/Owner was looking over mine & my guests shoulder all the time (this was stressful) - I paid for 2 bartenders (neither of which appeared to have bartending experience - I selected only beer for my guests (made 4 different beer selections one month in advance). The beers I selected were not provided to my guests. No one ever mentioned my guests would be offered a full bar. I had drink tickets for my guests; when they went to the bar they were under the impression the tickets were good for any drink, bartenders had to tell my guests they were only good for beer, the lines backed up, there was confusion. Did I mention guests were charged $15 for margaritas that were made with the cheapest tequila (Jose Cuervo.) - Two weeks before event my music sound tech wanted to confirm the venue had sufficient electricity/power capacity. I asked the manager/owner & she was unable to confirm for me. I had my sound tech call her directly since I'm not a sound engineer & I wanted to make sure they had the electrical power needed for the day of the event. The venue manager/owner was rude to him & hung up on him. The day of the event sure enough; we are about to dance the most important song (mother/daughter dance) and power goes out! Frustrating! - The venue has security cameras in every single angle of the barn, except the bathrooms & upstairs middle dressing room. Oh but the manager/owner made sure to personally do a check-in of yes the women's bathroom & the upstairs areas. So unnecessary & intruding on privacy. - I paid one security guard which venue hired. Guy appeared to have been picked up off the street (no uniform or badge) - Once event was over at 11:30pm, I had to make sure venue was clean, owner/manager kept on calling me because I was going over the 30 minutes allotted otherwise she would have to pay her staff over time. - I found dead mice inside the venue a few days before our event. If I'm following my obligations contractually why are you micromanaging the event. This was so stressful & dont think I would ever use this venue again.
