The best ever! They make incredibly juicy apples covered in caramel or milk/dark chocolate with a variety of toppings. You really can't go wrong -- choose from almonds, peanuts, fruit, or candy. This is a locally owned business we first discovered at the Monterey farmers market years ago. Prices have gone up to $16 an apple, but they're absolutely worth it. The owner recently passed away, and the son and daughter‑in‑law have taken over the business. They're getting things moving again and hopefully will return to the farmers markets soon. The shop itself is a charming little farm‑style store inside and out. We tried the Coconut Almond Joy apple, which was delicious, though our favorite is still the Almond Obsession Caramel Apple. I have been buying their products for over ten years. They used to be at the Gilroy outlets and local fairs. But I guess during covid everything changed. Their hours changed and prices went up. We drove over there to get some yummy candy and carmel apples. They no longer have the store to walk in and look at what you want. I got out and saw a sign to call a number for pickup only. The guy was at the door going over someones order and said for me to wait in my car and he would come out when he was done. So he said I had to call the number to order. Soooo silly. I called and he asked what I wanted. I wanted to look in the door because its stupid to be on the phone and have them say what they have. They no longer have the mints which were our favorite along with the discounted candy because I guess people complained about the quality of it. The webpage doesnt have everything there to see what they have or whats in stock. So they literally have to say what apples they have. I guess its pretty much if you want the carmel apples..... candy...goodluck. So I wanted two dark chocolate, but one that was given was milk (yuck). I understand they are trying to "keep themselves safe" but how are people supposed to know what they want if they physically cant see it. A wonderful discovery on the way out to the coast from Sacramento. Tucked away off the main thoroughfare you'll find their little shop attached to the chocolate production facility. We were greeted by a very friendly and knowable staff member who educated us on the history of the company and how it still remains a family owned business. Plenty of goodies to choose from including some fancy caramel apples. We went with an assortment of chocolates included a very tasty salted caramel and some dark chocolates. The cashier told us that most of their chocolates are sold via fairs and weekend foodie events and only available in a few select stores. All the more reason to make this a regular stop. read more

I would not recommend coming here at all. Unless you want to look like a fool and be embarrassed. It was a huge waste of time, received no help. We got there and were told by a man that we could order online for pick up, which was fine and we went online to try and do it, yet there was only a shipping option available. On the website it says to call to place a pickup order. We tried calling five times, no answer. Then we were knocking on the door he came out of next to the big debrito sign on the wall, no answer. We asked some people outside next to the shop if they could reach him and they said to knock on the shop door, still no answer. It's bad enough that they weren't answering their phone. It's even more embarrassing that we had to knock on doors to receive service, and that was for 15 minutes. Never coming back, especially since you have to pay for shipping prices (which is extremely expensive, more than an apple itself) even though you are picking up. How does that make any sense, so they are charging you for shipping yet you're the one picking it up. That's a good scam/ripoff system they have. Especially online it says call for a pickup, Dosent say they will charge you added fees. I will refer all my friends and family to Casa De Fruta's apples!! They are right there out in the open and are delicious! I had no hassle getting this compared to here. Along with many other places that have apples for sale, I'd suggest going anywhere else. Their caramel apple combinations are fantastic and decadent! They are even more accessible now that they have a storefront at the outlet shopping center in Gilroy. Oh man... I am a total sucker for DeBrito's. I always make a trip to the factory around the holidays for one reason: OUTRAGEOUS CARAMEL APPLES!!! Those babies are loaded with endless combinations of smooth caramel, decadent chocolate, nuts, candies, etc. They are truly the biggest caramel apples you'll probably ever lay your eyes on. And they're probably the unhealthiest form of apples you could ever eat. You can almost feel a cavity forming just by looking at one. These apples are meant to share, but I could definitely kill one by myself. My favorite is the Extreme (extra caramel, 3 types of nuts, and 2 types of chocolate). Make sure you have a cutting board and a hefty knife handy. Otherwise, good luck getting through all that goodness. The apples make fantastic gifts for people (and yourself). If you're feeling something not so intense, they do sell a variety of other smaller treats like chocolate covered nuts, toffee, and dried fruit. The butter almond toffee is one of my favorites. Visit during Christmas time and you can even find some cute Holiday decor and ornaments for sale. But, do go for the chocolate and caramel apples. You won't regret it! read more

Truly disappointed in the De Brito Chocolate Factory's customer service. But now even more so because they have such great reviews on yelp. I purchased two apples from a fundraiser and one of the apples was ROTTEN. I contact De Brito to see if they would send me a new apple because it truly looks delicious. The girl who answered was not too concerned about it and kept putting me on hold. Patricia (sales) finally takes over the call and treats me like it's my fault or ANYONE else's fault but not theirs. She said she needed a picture of the rotten apple to make sure I didn't FREEZE it - REALLY?!?! Of course I didn't freeze it!!! At this point I'm offended and ask for someone in Management. That's when I speak with Tina, who's customer service isn't much better, in fact my four year old grand daughter could run circles around her in that department. At this point I'm upset and she isn't making the situation any better. I told her all I wanted was a new apple!! For what it cost and how delightful it looked, I didn't think that was to much to ask. She said "if they had to replace every apple...." Tina are you kidding, how many apple problems do you have? I asked her this and she said none - Hahahaha - unbelievable! I told Tina I was disappointed in their customer service because she reiterated what Patricia had said - they have to make sure it wasn't mine or the fundraiser or the person who sold them through the fundraiser's fault, first. (This review is for their product only) I purchased a s'more apple through a school fundraiser. I received the apple last Saturday and just cut into it today. The apple itself was a pretty good size and fresh. Because the apple was refrigerated, it cut easily and clean with the toppings staying very well intact. I tried biting into a slice right after, but it was rock hard. I then left the apple on the counter and came back to it an hour later. The apple was pretty delicious! The caramel had soften at that point into a sweet, sticky goo that balanced the crisp of the apple. The textures of the toppings only added to the deliciousness of the treat. In one bite, there was a fusion of sweetness, sourness, and tartness all over your mouth. This s'more apple caramel is a definite 5 stars! read more

I just had THE BEST APPLE in the WORLD!!! After a lovely BBQ with friends last night (we had ribs made 3 ways: some of the ingrediants include: banana beer, espresso, garlic, apples, a grip of herbs and more baked for 2.5 hours and then smoked for 3+hours) we shared the TOFFEE APPLE which includes 'Clumps of Award Winning Butter Almond Toffee, Caramel and Chocolate". Decadent and heavenly. All ten of us agreed that, that was in fact the best "apple" they had ever had! I like nuts (esp. salty ones) but when it comes to caramel apples, nuts can get in the way and get stuck in your teeth. If you want an easy to enjoy caramel apple, I highly recommend the Toffee Apple as the toffee with be crisy at first then almost melt in your mouth like the rest of the goods!
