I spent a fortune on buying a bike from Bespoke Cycling 3k +. I gave my brief and shared that I was looking for a mountain bike to ride around the rocky dirt tracks from my home in Spain. Trusting fully the expertise of the company I let them guide me in which bike would be a good fit for myself and the Terrain. After receiving the bike in Spain I took my first trip and my last! It is was the most uncomfortable ride I have ever had on a bike.. the bike had no suspension!? I emailed the company and shared my disappointment with them, as it is close to impossible to ride a bike without suspension on mountain biking trails!! I asked if we could do an exchange whereby they sold my bike second hand and I bought a new one from them more suited to the brief I had given. Liam who I spoke to was very rude to me over the phone and offered no solutions, and spend a rather wasteful amount of time telling me that it was not his responsibility. Perhaps I am wrong but I assume when ones goes to a company like 'Bespoke Cycling' part of their responsibility is to deliver a product that suits your needs and If they fail to do so it is their responsibility!? Especially when the product delivered is so far from the brief!? I don't normally leave negative reviews but I was honestly rather shocked at how unwilling the company was to rectify the situation even with another capital contribution from me. Unless you know your bikes (Technically speaking) and can over see the whole process to ensure you receive what you asked for, I advise not to use this company. read more

Time for an update. Since the last time I posted my excellent review of the overhaul for my Seven, I've gone through a couple of life changing issues, mainly a heart failure in December. But this is not about my old aging heart and body. This is about bike fitting session with Bespoke. After getting the OK from my doctor to start riding on the road again. (I had been using a stationary bike for months) I jumped in very gingerly. I kept my rides down to 20 miles to start, and worked up to about 25 miles per ride. Three weeks ago I went through the bike fitting process with Ari, and after ordering a replacement axle for one of my pedals. The fitting was complete on May 12th. I went for a ride yesterday, the 13th. I rode 42 miles effortlessly and could have gone much more, as I felt no muscle or any other type of body pain after the ride. I was actually shocked at how good I felt. My unsolicited piece of advise for anyone wanting to improve in this expensive hobby is to get a computerized fitting done. I don't know if the other shops doing this service are as expert as Ari is, but, for me, Bespoke cycle fitting program resulted (at least from first impressions)in the single biggest improvement I have had in over 35 years of riding. read more

By getting a fitting, translating that into building the right bike, and answering every question, the crew made the shop a treasured destination. For tune-ups, repairs, shop rides and camaraderie - they are most worthy. Went here to check out the Bont cycling shoes, was set to grab a pair but was convinced by Ari, I guess the owner of this Bike shop, to go with Lake which was offered in "wide", I went ahead and went with his recommendation and was told the shoes are not available in store and will need to be ordered. I was asked for 50% deposit which I paid and was told an email will be sent over with information on my order and the shop will keep me posted on when order will arrive. After a month of waiting and not hearing anything from these guys I called the shop and asked about my order, nobody seemed to know where it was and who I was...When they finally figured it out I was told it was still on order and that it should arrive in 2/3 weeks. 3 weeks passes, no call or email, so I call, I was told "come in shoes are in the shop they just arrived". I plannned to make the 40 mile trip one way to get the shoes, I was told shoes were not there and that there was a pair there but in white and the wrong size. So I travel 40 miles back with no shoes and was told again to wait another 4 weeks for the shoes to arrive. Fast forward...I ordered these Shoes in June 2016 thinking I could use it while it's still Summer, guess what, it's the end of December and nope.. no shoes! !!!! I called the shop and cancel the order... 6 months no call no email and no shoes.. wow, this from a shop that supposedly deals with high end bike gear and equipment... maybe my order for a pair of $300 shoes was not enough of a sale. Will never step foot in this store, buying online is easier... btw the lake shoes at competitive cyclist just went on sale for $199.. $100 less than what these guys were selling it for. Good for me, bad for these guys! Awesome customer service, NOT! You have been warned. ..stay away! Re: your response; I understand your position as a business owner, but when a customer comes to you once/ twice regarding the same issue, no communication of product ordered, then it's not a mistake but a lack of business sense. Your a customer based business, without them you have nothing, nobody said you had to be perfect everyone makes mistakes and that is why I gave you 6 months to reach out to me, nobody likes to get bad reviews but maybe with these reviews you take better care of your customers. It sounds like I might be the only yelper so far who is actually taking advantage of Bespoke's custom fitting services. The funny thing is that I haven't even done the fitting yet. How am I qualified to give them 5 stars, you ask? I have been in contact with both Aaron and Ari via email and phone and probably wasted about an hour of their combined time. That's a lot if you consider that I haven't met either of them in person and haven't bought anything yet. Even if I had already been in for the fitting. Here's how these guys have proven their worth so far: 1. Aaron responded to my first email almost immediately on a Monday. The shop is closed Mondays. 2. I called Aaron to ask a few questions and his answers were direct and knowledgable. I'm asking them to measure me up for an uncommon frame design (disc brake-specific road/CX bike) and he made some very good fork recommendations, as well as recommendations about design principles for a bike with odd parts like that. 3. I called a few weeks later to schedule a fitting appointment and Ari answered. His fitting qualifications are on the website, so you can go read them and be impressed, but what I find more impressive was his responses to my questions. My bike is going to be built around the ISM Adamo saddle, which is likely to generate a slack seat tube angle. He suggested that we do the fit with a couple of saddles and find a seat angle that works with other saddles to give me several options. Most shop owners I talk to about this saddle don't even know what it is, but Ari mentioned that he actually knew the guy who invented it. Clearly he has been around awhile. 4. When I made the appointment, Ari mentioend that he was very flexible and that I could reschedule at any time. This sort of consideration is worth a lot to me. I used to go to another bike shop in the city that has since become very popular. I was the first customer there (ever) and was, for a long time, on good terms with the owner. I have brought him a ton of business -- referred friends, family members, etc. and have spent thousands of $$ there myself. The owner there used to be very helpful, but as business increased, he clearly valued my business much less, because he stopped treating me like a regular customer (there were times I sat in that shop for 45 minutes before being helped). I hope the guys at Bespoke are able to run a successful business and maintain the same level of attentiveness that I have seen thus far. Their business model clearly involves lower trafficking, higher profit items, so they might just be able to do this. I'll re-review after my bike is built to reflect how accurately they fit me, but at this point I feel pretty confident that it will be good. read more

Ari and team - you've done it again. A little over an hour spent for a professional fit "touch-up" with great results. Knowledgeable, experienced, friendly, thorough, cool... The list goes on. I wouldn't be too concerned with any of sporadic Yelp comments on "bad" fits. It's likely a matter of a readjustment (your body needs time to adjust and sometimes that means a re-adjustment - nothing is going to be totally exact the first time in my experience). Don't hesitate...invest in your bike and your body (more comfortable = ride more, right?). These guys are worth every penny!! I need to shop there more!! read more

To me this is a dream studio / shop. Actually the first time I came to the shop it was closed but I was meeting Ari and Bridget and the rest of the group to join in on their Sunday ride. I hooked up with the ride through the Mission Cycling club page. I needed some CO2 since I couldn't bring mine on the plan and Ari offered to meet me early and open up the shop so I could purchase a couple of cartridges. Pretty nice accommodations for someone from out of town that he didn't know. I stopped by a couple of days later to check out the shop. Wow! This place deals in premium and custom goods, custom fits, custom bikes Assos clothing and the list goes on.... Nice new clean space as they have recently moved. I had such a nice experience with these guys If I ever get the money to go full custom I might just come back and purchase here. read more

I had an excellent experience here getting fitted for cycling shoes. I have wide feet that don't fit most brands so I was excited to find that Bespoke carried Lake cycling shoes in wide widths! Tristan was great at walking me through my options and helping me determine which shoes were the right fit for me. Once my shoes arrived Ari was super helpful explaining the proper way to mount and dismount using clipless pedals and insisted that I stay and practice using them in the shop for however long I needed in order to feel comfortable with the shoes and pedals. Good place for individual attention and custom-fits (bike fits and bike shoe inserts). But the only detractors are exactly their pluses in that you pay a premium for it. So, if you're just starting and want to do it right or if you've already been riding for a while and want to get better, this is the place. read more

Ari really knows his stuff, and can go through his mental list based on years of experience and figure things out in a couple of minutes. He'll go through that list with you quickly with no judgement of your personal knowledge, and solve problems. Frankly, given how much I ride I could be embarrassed by the gaps in what I know, but even for a verbal guy with a wealth of knowledge Ari does not make you feel that way - he just wants to get your problem solved and get you back on the road. I've walked by a number of times over the years and admired the equipment in the window, and now I know the quality of the service matches. Go there! read more

Phillip built up my new bike, and I couldn't be happier. Enjoyed the experience so much that I scheduled a fitting with Ari two weeks later. Rode my newly assembled bike in my new riding position and remained super happy. After a chunk of miles I was ready to commit and brought the bike in to cut the steer tube. Left it overnight, picked it up the next day. Steer tube was cut and the entire bike was cleaned. Not a speck of grease or dirt. Very very Impressed. read more

Four years later... So ... I started taking my Bianchi in to Bespoke for service, and found out they do some of the best work around. Basically, I haven't had a single mechanical issue with the bike since I started taking it in to Stef for tune-ups and the occasional repair. Couple of excellent fit-adjustment appointments over the last few years with Ari - I'm feel perfect on the bike. The whole gang at the shop - extremely helpful and kind after I got doored a couple of months ago. Yeah, I ended up buying the fancy bike here a few months ago. Four years of doing business with Bespoke - not a single bad experience - these guys are top-notch. Spend money with 'em, I'd like to see them stay around for a long, long time. read more

I was walking to Barney's Gourmet Hamburgers one day last spring, and noticed a so-sweet-I-wanted-to-lick-it SEVEN bike in the window, and immediately went inside to check it out. Who knew just walking in the door would turn into a great relationship - Aaron, Ari and Steph are great guys who not only know their stuff, but are funny and enthusiastic and devoted to their business partnership. After talking with Ari about the custom fitting service, I scheduled a fitment of my existing road bike. I can't speak highly enough about the level of knowledge and attention to detail Ari exhibited. For less than I would have spent on various parts and accessories trying to dial in my bike at any other shop, Bespoke was able to fine-tune me and my ride and thus eliminate knee and back pain. Yes, eliminate. It was like I had a new bike and a new body. Since then, I've brought my wife by for a similar fitment, and we've purchased shoes and other parts, and stop by frequently to chat about whatever is going on in the world. One day, I will purchase a custom bike from them, without hesitation. If you require customer service, with an emphasis on service, sound, educated advice, high quality gear, a passion for the sport and that not-oft found 'human element', you'd be a fool to shop elsewhere. read more

I went to two other custom bike shops before going to Bespoke. They were both good, but Ari at Bespoke is definitely a notch or two better. He clearly has a lot of experience fitting people of all shapes and sizes onto the perfect bike. I had some issues with my pelvic alignment so he referred me to a physical therapist and then did a follow up fitting before ordering the bike. He also scheduled a phone call with my pilates teacher so he could better understand how to make me comfortable on my bike. I bought a Seven Elium SL and could not be happier with it! read more

I was directed to this store by a website for an obscure parts manufacturer, hoping to order a niche chainring not likely to be stocked online or otherwise. Though that part couldn't be ordered, I knew the exceedingly friendly staff at Bespoke had earned my business anyway. They were happy to let me leverage my SF Bicycle Coalition card and ushered through a special order on a high-end wheelset. Great communication and service during the entire process, and not an ounce of pretense from the employees -- surprising given the high-dollar equipment and appearances. read more

Very, very happy with my bike and shoe/cleat fit by Ari. Ari also helped me with heat molding the shoes. I have a lot of experience riding and setting up my own bike and shoes/cleats, but I would strongly recommend working with Ari. He got me to a much better fit in less time than if I did it on my own. Had my bike assembled here. Eric is a wizard! He was able to translate my bike fit measurements from my old 54 cm frame to my new 52 cm frame. He did a great job putting my bike together overall. I came across Bespoke after searching for the best bike fitting shop in town. Who knew I would run into the former City Cycle guys? With knee and back issues that would confound any orthopedist, I was looking to re-custom fit my custom Serrota so I could ride again with my back issues. Ari took on the challenge with the Retul fitting system and a plan was crafted, drafted and put into place. Rider rides again. But not end of story. Being able to ride again made me realize the 9 yr old Serrota was due for back-up status. Ari, Aaron and Steph came up with a sweet carbon Serotta new bike plan that blended awesome technology with best positioning for a finicky back. No, they're not the cheapest. But they are priced for what they deliver. And they're a good bunch of nice guys to boot. read more

Since my initial review, I purchased a bike at Bespoke. For those of you who care about details, here they are: The bike was perfect from front to back. Stephan went over the wheels with a fine tooth comb, made sure spoke tension was right, and made sure the wheels ran silently. Cockpit was neat and tidy--cable length was perfect as was bar tape. Stephan also asked for my measurements before I picked up the bike, so the bars were positioned exactly as I asked--the same goes for seat height for fore-aft position. All bolts were torqued properly, and where there is carbon-on-carbon contact, there was no slippage after I picked up the bike. Shifting was flawless, and I did not need to go back into the shop within days in order to have things adjusted. As far as aesthetics, the bike was exactly what I asked for in terms of the paint job and appearance. Bespoke went to the trouble of removing some difficult-to-peel decals that I did not want. When I picked up the bike, it was clear that the Bespoke crew--Stephan, Aaron, and Ari--were excited and proud of the bike. That, in addition to the fact that the bike was perfect, made the experience even more enjoyable. All of the foregoing reinforces my initial post, and I thought it might be helpful to people who wanted to know about the bike-buying experience at Bespoke. read more

They're great! Had an old bike my son left in the garage and didn't know how to work the fancy air valves on the tires. They fixed me right up and wouldn't even let me buy a lock from them. I have never in my life written a review, but my experience with Bespoke calls for one. So, here goes. I shipped my bike from NYC to SF on August 18th, it is now October 21st. Ari has still not fixed my bike, and in fact I refused to allow him to, and I have picked my bike up and took it to another shop. At first Ari said my bike would be ready in about 2 weeks from the shipping date. I called him a few days prior to set up an appointment to pick it up. He told me come, however, when I arrived he said, "we need to have a talk." He described in detail how my bike was packed wrong and therefor it broke during shipping.. he claimed my Trek was the worst condition he has ever seen, and was not even sure he could ever fix it.. he claimed it was a liability to give me back my bike because the hanger was broken....but even then he was not even sure he could do it and it would be a hefty price...I said OK then order the and do whatever work it needs... each week I kept calling and asking is it ready.. every week same story I tried and no one has it. Finally, last week I asked what is the name of the part I will look around see if I have any luck. He tells me the part, and what do you know just about everyone has it! He lied! I could have had my bike months ago. When I confronted him he said he only uses 5 dealers... NOW WHY ON EARTH DID HE NOT MENTION THAT?! He should have said from the get go that it's best not to send a trek to me because I don't have the parts, (if parts will be needed) and I exclusively stay with only 5 dealers. Ari is dishonest. I will never go there again. Thankfully, I found Avenue Cyclery, and my bike will be ready tomorrow, and all the "issues that might not even be able to fixed," are not true. I love this shop. At first I was skeptical to venture into the high end custom made bike shop. The guys were nice enough at first and responded promptly to email. So I became a little more comfortable. After a cycling related injury I decided to get the custom fit and cleat adjustment to help with my recovery. Actually, it was amazing. Ari (the fitter) told me some things about my body and riding style that I didn't know. Guess what? He said the exact same things that my physical therapist told me 3 weeks later. The guy knows his stuff. The best part is that, even though I spent nearly 500 bucks for the fitting and new parts, I no longer have knee pain! I rode 70 miles yesterday with some moderate hill climbing. Ari really helped me get back to cycling pain-free. Stefan is also a really great mechanic. He gave me a few pointers while doing a deraileur adjustment. If you want your bike fixed properly the first time, I recommend Bespoke to anyone. read more

These guys get 5 stars for the best road bike tune-up EVER! I took my and my husband's bicycles in here a few weeks ago and I was not very nice. In fact, I gave the staff a pretty hard time because I thought that $150 was way too much to pay for a tune-up (it seemed that in the past I had only paid around $70 or $80) They didn't budge on the price, but promised me that they would sprinkle pixy dust on the bikes and they would ride as never before. Full of my doubts, I left the bikes to be worked on...... only to find that they weren't kidding about the pixies! The bikes have been riding like a DREAM!!! Take my word on it, don't take your bike anywhere else for a tune-up--these guys really are the best! read more

Have been meaning to put up a review here forever, I have been going to Bespoke for the last 3 years. I went initially to get a retul fit, which was mind-blowing, and have since been back at least 5-6 times for additional tweaks to my fit, as well as getting other bikes fit. Have yet to purchase a bike from them (hopefully one day) but I drive halfway across San Francisco (I have other shops within walking distance of my house) to get just about anything done to my bike. Ari and Step are amazing, their work is incredibly high quality, precise and reasonably priced. I never feel like I'm being given the hard sell, and pick Ari's brain as much as I can when I spend time there. They are all amazingly helpful and are always willing to hop on the phone or exchange emails about ideas/questions (I do this a LOT), really a great shop. read more

There's a bike shop right next to Alta Plaza! I wandered in to Bespoke after walking home from the park. I've lived in the same neighborhood for the last five years and never realized this place was here! Maybe it's the burglar bars? Inside though this place is stunning. Wall to wall hard wood floors, amazing products you can't get from most shops in the bay, and a super friendly staff. Brice greeted me and answered some technical questions about my bicycle and Trystan worked with me for over an hour to find a brand of cycling shoe that fit my weird shaped feet. I will definitely be back for a tune and perhaps a fitting too! read more
