She also didn't help order online when they didn't have an item. Just said "you can do it on your phone ". When I asked if I had done something to offend her, she said, "No, you're fine," but failed to recognize the clear discomfort in the interaction. No customer service at all. I mean, it's a pretty nice job - why the nasty attitude towards customers? I'm kicking myself for not asking to work with someone else--why put myself through that when I'm a loyal customer? I still ended up purchasing six items, and the rudeness continued through checkout. The attitude came across as entitled and was completely out of place in an otherwise positive store. Plus she was really no help at all.

Raquel Collazo & her team were giving ppl conflicting info for the Nike x BTS collab event. We were the first ones to arrive on 7/4 & waited for over 16 hrs. Security told us to wait in our car & line up at the entrance when they set up stanchions on 7/5 11am. They confirmed multiple times on 7/4 & 7/5 not to line up in the unofficial line across the street bc it would not be honored. 7/5 approximately 10am: Raquel, Mel & security guard exited the store & walked across the street to the unofficial line at "the Square." Other employees brought out the stanchions, so we went to line up at the entrance. However, the employee had no clue what to do & had us wait there so he can radio his manager. We waited for a while, & were passed to another employee named Mel, who also didn't know what to do. Then, Mel passed us to Raquel. We told her we needed wristbands bc we were the first to arrive on 7/4 & have been waiting for 16 hrs. However, she was rude, dismissive & refused to give us wristbands. Raquel was on a power trip & kept repeating, "THEY REPORT TO ME" when asking ARMY's who advised us to line up at the Nike entrance. We even offered to show pictures that we took when we arrived, but she said no and ignored us. So, ARMY's who followed the rules were punished & removed from the line for no reason. Nike, please retrain your employees! Raquel Collazo lacks empathy & accountability & did not apologize for their misinformation. This goes against Nike's core expectations for Nike's Code of Conduct. Also, Raquel Collazo claimed she spent 30 days training her team for the BTS x Nike event, but it was poorly managed & executed. Many of us ARMY's spent our days, money, time, energy, & gas traveling to SF for nothing. Unfortunately, a highly anticipated event that was meant to be sweet, fun & memorable turned sour. NIKE at SF, do better. It's embarrassing. We're longtime Nike customers & spent lots of money on Nike products, but we are never returning to this location. This negative experience has tainted the Nike brand's reputation. We will be taking our business to competitor brands that have high customer satisfaction. In addition, there are many negative reviews that consistently point to a similar issue: terrible customer service, or lack thereof!

Well well, today was the day for me to buy myself a new fancy pants bicycle. Exciting times. Like most thorough shoppers, sometimes it takes me a time to do the research and familiarize myself with what is out there. I mean, if I am going to spend more than a "g" on a bike I'm not going to buy the first thing I see - I want to take a little time and get familiarized with what is out there. With all that said, I am going to ask a lot of questions to help shape my buying decision. Open scene, Valencia Cyclery: I walk in and start checking out the bikes. A scrappy gentleman approaches me. I begin asking questions... Now, has anyone ever tried to talk to someone and then you get the urge they want to punch your face in for no apparent reason? I guess that's an over-exaggeration, but I did indeed feel like I was wasting the gentleman's time. And if I am at a bike shop and I get the vibe that someone doesn't want my company, I'll move on. The take away: I went to a few other shops that day and everyone at all the other shops were pleasant and helpful. What's the deal Valencia? Why are you being a hatter? I'll stop short of saying these guys are scammers, but I would recommend you go anywhere but here if you want an informed and honest opinion on what your bike needs. They installed new tires on my road bike and the rear tire wasn't even remotely seated correctly after taking 45 minutes. This made the back wheel wobbly and appear as if it was bent. They told me that the back wheel was so bad that I should buy a new wheel - it was beyond fixing. Luckily, I held off on the purchase and went to Sports Basement for a second opinion. Sports Basement essentially fixed the tire installation in 5 minutes and it became clear that the only reason the back wheel was wobbly was the messed up tire. While my wheel is slightly out of true, it is totally fine and I do not need a new wheel. Unfortunately, this is not the first time this has happened at Valencia Cyclery. A few weeks ago, I took my girlfriend's bike in for a tune-up and they said it would cost $500+ to replace most of the cables and driveset. We got a second opinion and she was up and running for less than $200. read more

As of this review, I'm in the market for a new bike, chances are, by the time anyone has read this I will already have purchased my bicycle and most likely this future bike of mine will have been purchased here at Valencia cyclery. Me and my girlfriend made a stop here just to browse. It was my second stop at a bike shop out of three other candidates. Un-benounced to us there was a big annual sale going on here, needless to say it. was. packed. Not only did they have a bike that tickled my fancy, the associates there on the floor made sure we were contacted and asked if we had any questions three times despite how busy it was. To me, this was enough for me to warrant making my purchase here. Plus you don't get the bike snob vibe here that you might get at other shops. Good job Valencia cyclery. read more

Very helpful staff here set me up with my first road bike. I street tested a handfull of bikes until I made the decision to go with a specialized sirrus. Even though it was after closing hours, they stayed open for ~30min to finish up the sale. Honest and knowledgable with a pretty good selection. Discovered this place on a random whim but it was closed and then their online store was closed until end of November. The day they reopened their online store I purchased caps for gifts. The two favorites are the SF Giants (orange and black) and the Mash Transit with SF map printed on the side. THE ORDER. Delivery was quick! Unfortunately out of the 6 caps, 2 had to be returned and replaced. The caps get printed in Italy and it was not attractive to see San Francisco not fully spelled out or with missing letters. Been in contact with Mash Transit and they were very kind to get every replaced and fixed. Great service! Please design 49ers and Warrior caps as well. Until the next review...

MASH carries a very simple front rack that seemed like it would work with my bike. When I assembled…read moreit though, none of the supplied hardware was long enough for mounting on my bike, and there were other fit issues that suggested it just wasn't the right rack for my setup. I tried contacting the shop for help but got no response, so I asked to return it. At any other bike shop - and to be clear this place, in appearance and spirit, is arguably more of a bike-lifestyle shop - this would be a straight-forward matter. The unmasked kid working the door initially took the rack back, but then asked if it was missing hardware. I assured him it wasn't, all the original packaging was included. Then he said they couldn't accept it because it was "all chewed up." He pointed to tiny areas where the cheap finish came off as a result of assembly. He then offered me approximately half of what I paid for it just days earlier. This is cheap and disreputable, and for me, doesn't match my experience at any other shop; or any other business for that matter. I half-assembled the rack but it was never used because they didn't supply a bolt long enough to go through my brake hole. So MASH won't stand behind their products. And they won't stand behind their return policy, which states that an item must be in "sellable condition", in new, unused condition in its original packaging. You'd be better off going with any number of local bike shops, where they stand behind what they sell and the people they sell it to.

But it bothered me so much to see that, so here I am. Reading that review now before I write this one, I don't see a trace of truth in what Nick noticed. Maybe Nick knows a competitor. Phillip felt genuine, knowledgeable, understated. He listened well, asked lots of questions to help diagnose the issue, and made me feel welcome. He also fixed my bike's creak on the spot. I've been to so many bike shops. Enough to know how common it is to deal with young kids (and sometimes even adults) who are still trying to figure out who they are. This is not one of those shops. Phillips not a bro. He's a great person, and an even better mechanic. I'm definitely coming back to Pink Puffin.

Plus, he even helped me better understand the right tire pressure for racing. The online calculator I was using was off by about 10 PSI, but he explained the correct pressure based on my tire brand. I also brought in my commuter bike to replace the cables. Philip mentioned that new cables can stretch, so he told me to come back in a couple of weeks for a free tune-up, no appointment needed. Overall, I recommend Pink Puffin Bicycles to anyone who cares about proper bike maintenance.

The Bike Fit Earlier this year, I decided to get back into cycling after a long hiatus. I had been commuting on a 20-year-old steel bike, but quickly realized it was agonizing on rides longer than an hour. I worked with Ari at Bespoke to fix this. He patiently interviewed me, measured me, and used Retül pressure mapping to revolutionize my position. He modified my old bike, set me up with new shoes, and dialed in a saddle that finally worked. While the tech is impressive, Ari's instincts are sharper; I get the sense he could nail a perfect bike fit with just a tape measure and his eyes. Once I felt the difference, I wanted a new bike immediately. Ari actually urged patience. He encouraged me to ride the new fit for a few months--on my old bike, my trainer and on rental bikes--to validate the changes before we committed to a build. When i experienced back pain after some longer rides Ari realized it might not be a bike fit issue and referred to me to a bike focused physical therapist (Action Sports Medicine in Sausalito) who was able to accurately diagnose my situation and suggest exercises to remediate it, which worked! As a team they really changed my relationship to the sport. The Dream Bike The eventual build process was a true collaboration. I knew generally what I wanted, but Ari guided the specifics. I wanted a flagship machine and was willing to pay for it, but Ari consistently focused on value. He even talked me down from some unnecessary upgrades. In hindsight, his advice was always spot-on, avoiding the usual industry marketing hype. The result is a mixed-material Titanium and Carbon All-Road bike from Seven Cycles. I have two separate wheelsets (which Ari hand-built using Reserve carbon rims) to swap between road and gravel. We also collaborated on a custom scheme with Black Magic Paint in Portland, who perfectly color-matched the bottle cages and a Silca frame pump to the frame's carbon elements. The bike fits like a glove. I was out on a 6-hour ride recently and felt fresh enough to do six more. As a tinkerer, I've inspected the bike closely; the tolerances and assembly quality are flawless. Build Specs Frame: Seven Axiom (Ti/Carbon Mix) Groupset: SRAM Red AXS 2024 Fork: Parlee Gravel/Cross Fork (Custom Painted) Finishing Kit: Enve Paint: Custom by Black Magic Paint (Portland) Road Wheels: Reserve 34|37 (Hand-built by Ari) Gravel Wheels: Reserve 25|GR (Hand-built by Ari) Pump: Silca Impero (Custom Painted) Final Thoughts I noticed his computer background was Picasso's Guernica, which made sense--Ari is as much an artist as a master builder.
