Did Hajichi Okinawan tattoo with Bee, recommended by a friend. She is one of the few here who does Hajichi. Highly recommend Bee! She is so nice and very knowledgeable and made sure I was satisfied with placement and details. Made me and my friend I brought, very relaxed and talked story with us, she is friendly and open to your ideas, let me know what she was doing and going through the processes, explained and assured me of results and aftercare. She shared her stories with us and very relatable. Her tattoo area is small but cozy, clean and I am def going to get my next tat with her! I like her style! Loved loved loved it all. My friend recommended me Bee a long time ago, and I finally built up the courage to get a tattoo. Bee is amazing! Few things from my experience: -Lee is incredibly talented, professional, humble, and a good-hearted family man. -Military friendly and well-priced -Runs a beautiful shop and you can tell his staff are like family to him, just shows the kind of respect he has. -Never felt uncomfortable once, also, the healing process on the tattoo went beautifully. -If you have a hard time trusting new people, you won't have to worry about that too much here. Chris aka Pinzy is literally doing my tat as we speak. I've always liked his artwork and needed someone I can trust. Plus the funny personalities of everyone there makes for great jokes to distract me from the tat. I like the location and parking is validated at the shop so I didn't have to hustle for a place to park. The shop is small but clean and minimal which is a plus. I was even offered snacks and that's a double plus in my book because I'm a McFatAss. give this place a shot. read more

Pinzy is the bomb, walked into the shop being open to any artist since all the reviews were pretty high up there but I'm glad I got him. Very easy to talk to and detailed with his work! Came with an idea that I sketched on myself and he brought it to life with a touch of cute lil trinkets. Been dying to find a consistent and reliable tattoo shop that brings in quality without a ridiculous cost like one of the tattoo artist in the expo...... think I've finally found the holy grail of tattoo shops though. Check out their ig, I don't think the yelp photos does any of the artists work justice. Or pop into their shop to get a quote just as I did! I parked in ala Moana as it's a short walk since it's hard to make a left turn if you're driving towards alas during the busy hours. Can't wait to go back again when I get more ideas. read more

I got a watercolor/sketch style rendition of Icarus by Karly. She did an absolutely phenomenal job! She took my vague concept and came up with something absolutely beautiful! She puts thought and care into making the art work with the shape of your body and flow nicely. She's so kind and considerate and truly alleviated a somewhat painful spot to have done. I got a beautiful tattoo done by Amber. I originally had a rose on my arm but I wasn't too fond of it and wanted to add more around it. I sent a picture to Amber and she sketched a beautiful bouquet for me. Day of my appointment, I came in and Amber showed me her sketch- it was so beautiful! Amber and Pinzy shared a room together and Pinzy is absolutely hilarious! I had so much fun and the laughing took away from the pain. Finally got to finish my sleeve that I started a while ago with Lee. I booked an appointment with Lee very short notice because I was coming home for leave. He scheduled me the day after I arrived for a consultation, and actual appointment than following Tuesday. Like the last time I just gave him an idea of what I wanted and he blew my expectations out of the water. Going to Lee I'm never disappointed. That guy is an amazing tattoo artist and comes up with ideas off the top of his head in no time. Lee agreed to do my whole tattoo in one session being that I was only home for a few days. We did the outline and shading in about 6 hours with one break. I'm so thankful to have had the chance to have him finish my tattoo. If you're looking for an amazing artist this is your guy! He's very professional and comfortable to be around. Always grade A work. read more

Best tattoo quality and designs out there on the island. I wish I could of gone here for all of my ink. The pieces are amazing, attention to detail, cleanliness and outstanding customer service. I gotten referred to go here by a friend as I walk in the atmosphere and art work inside the shop is pretty cool. We get together discussing what I want done pretty soon within a week of scheduling everything out and piecing together what the final picture would be. The customization and drawings were on point. Super comfy, professional, clean atmosphere. Just what I'd hope for my very first tattoo! Lee somehow already has a vision of what you want in his head. It really only took one description and some reference pictures. I was so nervous the day of but once I saw the design, all doubt dissipated. His work is quick, clean, precise. My husband and I came to bespoke today to get our tattoo. Lee was our tattoo artist, he did awesome job! We dropped by two days ago to consult our tattoo, mine is a dog paw tattoo, Lee was really nice and gave advice and price range to us. And today, the entire process went so well, and it only took him 20 minutes to complete the tattoo. The tattoo is amazing, I really love it! And it only cost $100 dollars, it worth every penny of it! I have been wanting a tattoo for awhile now. Searched on Google "best tattoo shops in hawaii" and this place popped up as number 1. I see why now! It was my first tattoo and the environment in the place was very relaxed and welcoming. I called earlier in the week and ask a good amount of questions and they answered them with patience and ease. Lee and his apprentice Chris were very professional, friendly and skilled. Our two boys (15 and 16) finally go us to agree to tattoos. Lee had his standards for what was appropriate for minors, which I really respected and appreciated. My wife and I got our very first ever tattoos here, and even though I didn't have a basis for comparison, I can say that this place is amazing. The artists are extremely friendly and helped us keep our minds at ease. They're also extremely talented and very clean. My artist was Olivia and my wife's was Chris. Awesome shop. Great guys and wicked custom art. I was referred by a friend to Lee Maxwell for a coverup tattoo I wanted to get done. I was looking for a design that was meaningful, beautiful and unique. Undecided on the type of tattoo I wanted, I went to Bespoke with a lot of questions and a lot of different ideas. (Somewhat of a nightmare for artists, I believe.) Throughout the consultation, Lee listened and offered suggestions while being respectful and attentive to the tattoo I was hoping for. He was still consistent even in making sure we were both on the same page when he began drawing out the design. It's been about a month since I've gotten it, and I love my tattoo. Calling my own tattoo awesome is a little odd for me, but I will say that I receive compliments on it every day. Many people comment on the detail. A lot of people love the angle it's at on my arm. The people who have tattoos as well are really impressed that it's a cover-up. There is not one ounce of buyer's remorse with this tattoo. I am completely satisfied with the art and the experience. I would recommend any of my friends to this shop with the knowledge that they will be taken care of and that their self-expression is a priority. There really isn't much online about this new shop, but it's definitely worth stopping by. read more

I really liked the work of Olivia. I did not know exactly what my tattoo would look like. Olivia calmed me down and said that everything would be fine. Because I'm a little worried this is my first tattoo. Olivia helped me think up a sketch of a tattoo and did it in 1.5 hours. I am very glad that I met such a talented master. Their shop is very small, it actually took me a while to find it since it's kind of a hole in the wall. Ryson did my tattoo and he made me feel really comfortable. Came here wanting to get a new tattoo. My old artist closed Down her shop. After reviewing their site and reviews i knew this was the place for me. They thankfully took me in as a walk in right away and i was consulted with Steph. She knew the character i was wanting to get and right away i could tell she couldn't wait to make it awesome! After getting the sketches, made by Steph, transferred i was met by the artist/owner Lee. He couldn't have been any nicer!! He admitted the style i wanted wasnt his forte and wasn't too proud to ask for opinions from Steph. They talked about how to do my tattoo and threw ideas around throughout the entire process which comforted me because I knew what was gonna happen the whole time. Though very painful, i was kept well distracted by hiliarious conversation going between the workers here. They didnt care that i didnt know them they just talked about what they seemed they would regardless. Which was nice because it made me feel less like a stranger. Every person was very laid back and open here. I am SOOOOOO loving my new tatt and i can't wait to be back here for more!!! It came out exactly how he said it would- a more temporary tattoo look. Went to their grand opening this past Saturday. Located in Keeaumoku right across of Walmart. The inside of the shop has very nice interior and a trendy unique style to it. The best part is it has huge windows. Idk about you guys, but it's not so comfortable being tattooed with four walls/no windows. Owner of the shop is Lee. Nice individual, I met him from Toney. You guys should check out his place...Go out and support!!! read more

Bespoke first opened its doors in 2011 by owner Lee Maxwell. We create one-of-a-kind designs for all of our clients, specializing in freehand tattoos. My timing was good -- nobody was there when I arrived but the place filled up fast while I was waiting, so that's either luck or a sign that you should get there early or make an appointment. I was worried I didn't have enough cartilage for my tragus but the piercer made it work. That one hurt -- I'd rate it a 8 out of 10 for pain and it was more sore than my rook, or tongue, which surprised me. The helix was also more sore than I remembered from having it done before. Pain is temporary though and I got to pick my own jewelry, which helped. Went with two cute CZs since healing takes 6 months to a year -- practical and pretty. You can come back in 2 months to downsize. The guest piercer wasn't particularly warm and fuzzy but I wasn't there to make friends -- they were professional, skilled, and got the job done. Only minor gripe: I was required to purchase their saline solution despite having multiple bottles at home. A small annoyance on an otherwise solid visit.

It was super odd, i've never had a piercer ever be so unfriendly. a few months later i went to my usual piercing place to get new jewelry and kinda talked about the Ink Pit to her. she knew who i was talking about because i guess Lisa "botches" her clients and has a reputation of it in the piercing world. my flat jewelry from the Ink Pit was so long but i thought it was okay, and my usual piercer said she was surprised it healed because it was too long to safely heal. i usually don't have trouble with my piercings, but this was so painful and hard to heal. as soon as i got a shorter piece, it stopped hurting and looks great now. their starting jewelry is terrible. this place is cheap and quick and im sure Lisa was just having a bad day when i was in there, but there are much better places to go. and remember, there's a reason why it's so cheap.

Been wanting to get a honu ink'd to remind me of where I came from... where home really is. Everytime I go back, I run out of time or just didn't want to give up the beach day. This time the whole fam was IN... when I explained my design concept, both my wife and daughter wanted their own version, still honu themed. da Scene: Determined to get this done done during the 16 day visit back home on Oahu, I did my research early and narrowed it down to 3 spots initially. After some dm's, email exchanges and finally some voice calls, it was Lai @ Tattoo Hawaii who I connected with most, so we scheduled an in-person consult and then our sessions, with 2 days left on our trip - only lost 1 beach day (it was a perfect one too). da Service: Every contact before our session was courteous and replied to promptly. I did have to be insistent on Lai doing our work, even if it meant spanning multiple days. His work on social media and Yelp! most connected with me. At our consult he explained how he would approach my design concept and adapt it to my wife and daughter. Lai was confident he could get us all done in one afternoon/evening session. The shop is tucked away on the 2nd floor of a little building on the corner of Kapiolani and Piikoi... parking is a challenge, so arrive early to wait out a spot. The shop is comfortable and can accommodate 3-4 artists working, with friends looking on in support. da Work: Kai was up 1st as hers would be the least complicated. She went with 3 petroglyph style honu, each about 3.5" diameter, ink'd fairly heavy - vertically on her upper arm, pretty classic design. She has several tattoos already and was surprised that Lai didn't work with a stencil... he simply free-handed the design with several pens, directly on your body. He's a very cool, confident cat, laid back and within minutes has you chatting it up like you went to high school together. I went next as my wife wanted to see how mine's worked out to help solidify her concept. Lai drew a honu/dragon/shark tooth design on my upper arm and I said "go for it". 2.5 hours later I was stunned at the fine details he added to the shark's teeth encircling the honu shell, as well as tribal accents in the honu, while incorporating the dragon profile. It really was satisfying to see my concept executed closely, while adding style and depth, bringing it to life. Carla was last up and really wanted to stick close to what I had done... just smaller and wanted the dragon to "pop" more. As you can see, Lai nailed it... however subtle, the dragon does appear more prominent on her piece. da Wrap: Really happy all-around, already thinking about how to add to it, maybe add color, grow it further down my arm, how to add to the story. It's a very personal thing and I really suggest you take your time to research and find the right artist. I'm confident that you'll find the right one at Tattoo Hawaii. We were there most of the day and saw several folks and artists' work, there was actually one guy there the whole time getting a large whole body piece worked on with a manual tattoo tool, that's an investment! HUGE shout out to Lai for making our sessions so enjoyable and comfortable... When he found out it was my and my wife's 1st work, he said he was honored to be 1st... such a humble guy, great disposition. We'll see you soon brother!

When you arrive remember to fill out the paperwork provided. This could probably be streamlined if it were made available online. Regardless, you can reach out to the shop via social media or even the shop's webpage too. We took multiple breaks on my last visit. What started out as a request for a pueo turned into a session to catch up since pre-pandemic and get back in the chair. Lai free handed the entire piece. I wanted a poly style piece with Lai's style and that's what I got. Very much appreciated for attention to detail. Reach out to the shop via social media and if you want specifics like cost and time, you better be specific about your request too. (i.e. size, color, design, etc). There are so many shops on Oahu and Tattoo Hawaii was the only one that gave me an accurate cost and time frame, not to mention some awesome conversation. Highly recommended and thoroughly enjoyed!

My daughter got a beautiful red flower (we knew red ink tends to fade faster), and I got a beach scene with palm trees. Both tattoos came out lovely, truly 5-star-worthy work. The reason for my 3-star review isn't about the artwork but the experience afterward. While my daughter was in the lobby, the staff were admiring her tattoo, which was nice to hear, but then the conversation turned to comments about how the red ink wouldn't last and other remarks that weren't so positive. We completely understand the nature of red ink and appreciate honesty, but it's not great to overhear that kind of discussion right after getting a tattoo. For many people, including us, tattoos often hold sentimental meaning, they represent moments, memories, and people close to our hearts, even if we don't always share that story out loud. So, a little extra sensitivity goes a long way. Overall, the artistry and quality of the work are top-notch, but I'd just recommend being mindful of conversations when clients are still around to hear them.

Saw their booth at the Hawaii Tattoo Expo and they had great prices for what I wanted to get so I…read moredecided to get my third lobes and mid helix done. First off, EXTREMELY unorganized. All of their jewelry was stored in plastic containers where the employees were just digging through, without gloves (SO unsanitary), to find the jewelry that the customers wanted. I wanted titanium flat backs because I'm allergic to sterling silver and I don't heal well if it is pierced with steel. The girl who pierced me looked through all the containers before finding 3 gold colored titanium flat backs with silver colored titanium ball toppers. The piercing process started out okay, she cleaned off the area, although not very thoroughly, and marked where she was going to pierce and let me see before she started the process. I don't think they sterilized the jewelry before they pierced me either, even though different, ungloved, employees were digging around in the jewelry boxes just before. She opened a new needle and started on my lobes, these were pretty smooth. The biggest issue came when she started on my mid helix. Told me take a deep breath and she pushed the needle through, then went to guide the jewelry in, but could only get it HALFWAY. I heard her whisper "oh shoot" under her breath before proceeding to try multiple times to push the jewelry all the way through. She asked the other guy, Jay, for help and they both stood there pushing my ear around for a solid 3 minutes before the jewelry was fully through. It was a while before the piercing was done, I could feel the blood on my ear slipping around while he essentially tried to repierce it with the jewelry. Neither of them used a clamp, or even a tube to catch the needle as it went through to the other side, just used their hands which I could feel were slipping off my ear. To top it all off, my mom told me after that they used the same needle for all three of my piercings, super unsanitary! I've gotten thick cartilage piercings done before this (rook, nostril, helix) and I have NEVER had an experience like this. I will not be coming back here, not even for my jewelry changes. The only good thing I would say about this experience was that the lady at the front was polite and friendly, and the girl who pierced me was also nice, I just wish the process of the actual piercing was a bit cleaner and smoother. I hope nobody else has an experience like this, and I hope my piercings don't get infected.
