Listen. I WILL give it to them: these bagels are pretty damn good. I often use the drive through on my way home from yoga after I've spent an hour in the hot studio and need some calories. The drive thru can get overloaded with cars that are forced to spill out onto the street and the parking is mad limited, but if you find that perfect niche of time when no cars are there mid-morning on a Sunday, definitely pop in. The shop is small and feels dive-y (in a good way!) but has multiple booths and tables for eating in. I don't recommend the smoothies/slushies and sometimes they forget to actually slice my bagels in half. BUT when searching for a locally owned bagel shop in central New York, this place is fab. For the area, this place is a good bagel spot! There aren't many bagel shops around this area and I've always had an efficient and tasty experience. They have loads of different fresh bagels and cream cheese options, along with sandwiches and cookies! My wife and I were at Maine-Endwell High School to watch my son's club baseball game and I went to Wegman to get lunch, and on way back I passed by this bagel place with a long line to get through the drive through and with a name like Best Bagel in Town, I could not pass it by. I figured that many people could not be wrong, and maybe this place has the best bagels in THIS town but these would not make the grade in NYC or even Long Island. I got an everything bagel with cream cheese and a sesame bagel with butter. The textures are all wrong. They were like rolls with a little chewy skin. Pretty disappointed. The people behind the counter were very nice, so I gave them an extra star. But will not be coming back. read more

When I called the store, I could hear a nasty woman in the background (I assume the manager?) say what do you want me to do about it? Very rude! I live 25 minutes away. 7-30-19 I just got a rye-ish bagel with vegetable cream cheese to go and it tasted great. The price was reasonable ($6 - bagel with cream cheese and a small coffee). I read some other reviews about the service being bad. I mean no one was overly accommodating but the workers were efficient, polite, and the shop was clean. I actually almost didn't go in because of the poor Yelp reviews, and I think they may be unwarranted. I am happy that I can purchase a good bagel locally, am very satisfied, and will be back again soon. 7-31-19 Okay I went back again today and got a plain bagel, untoasted, with strawberry cream cheese. It was to die for. This bagel shop has definitely earned its name. Yes, $3.83 was a little pricey, but was definitely worth it. I will be back again tomorrow. I am considering changing to five stars. Reasons I haven't given them five stars- the prices on the menu board on the drive-thru need to be updated- what they actually charge is more than what's printed. I have been going to Best Bagels for at least 10 years. The bagels are pretty good but things have been going down hill for awhile now. The service is slow and staff is not friendly at all. My experience today is what prompted me to write this review. Went inside at 7:45am and waited 5 minutes before order was taken even though I was the only one inside at the time. I ordered a plain bagel with ham, egg and cheese. The order was to go. When I went to eat my bagel I was very disappointed. It was barely toasted and the amount of ham was pathetic - especially since they charge almost $2 for ham. Picture is attached for you to see what they call a $6 bagel. Honestly, bagels are by far my favorite food. I just recently moved into town and wanted to find a good bagel place, both for in-store eating and bagels to bring home. This place nailed it and more. The bagel sandwiches and creations are incredible, the bagel variety and spread variety are to die for, and they also brew a mean cup of coffee. Just an all around fantastic place. The interior has a cozy feel for casual eating, and is definitely worth a visit. There's also a gazebo and outdoor patio as an option for warmer weather. And if you're in a hurry, they do a great job being quick with drive-thru orders. read more

Should be called "Smallest, Most Expensive" bagels in town. We moved to the area about a year ago, and this place is right down the street from us. Finally being back in the NY/NJ area, we were excited about having good, fresh bagels again. The bagels are the smallest "fresh" bagels I've ever purchased, about the size of those frozen supermarket bagels. 1 plain bagel, 1 plain bagel with cream cheese, and a medium coffee...$9. REALLY??!? I'll give them this..... their Bagels are awesome, but the workers need an attitude adjustment, for the afternoon shift! Let me start from the beginning.....This afternoon at 11:30 on the 7th of April. I ordered 3 everything Bagels, toasted, with a light spreading of Cream Cheese. Now in the past they use to screw it up, but lately I've been going in the morning and everything has been awesome. From the bagels, to the light spreading of the cream cheese and finally the people working, they are just truly awesome workers. Today was a nightmare though. The guy who spread the cream cheese had the nerve to argue that the cream cheese was told to put it on lightly but it was seeping out the sides and thru the center. When i complained, He took back the bagels with a huge attitude to redo them and rudely stated that the cream cheese WAS put on lightly. Then the "so called manager" came to the window. At first I thought she was going to apologize but she didn't even look at me. When I finally complained about the Cream cheese being to much she had a real nasty attitude and simply restated what the first guy had said. She didnt even offer an Apology what so ever! I'll tell you this....i have roughly 300 employees, If she was my employee she'd definitely get some retraining on how to talk with customers. I dont think she should be fired, I just think she needs to learn how to handle customers better. Maybe they get to treat people this way because the owner wasn't there or maybe they had a bad afternoon. But I'll tell you what, the owners need to remind these young kids that without customer satisfaction, this shop could easily close down if enough people experience this type of horrible service. Will I stop going in for Bagels in the morning for my employee meeting...heck no....like I said the morning staff is truly wonderful and I do love their Bagels. My husband and I just tested our new toaster with two of the worst tasting bagels we've ever had. I had an Everything bagel but it was more of a sesame bagel, as there was no garlic, poppyseed, or sea salt on this bagel, I was disappointed. This Best Bagels's product quality has been declining since it changed hands several years ago. It is a convenient location for me and the service is very friendly, a bit slow sometimes, but that's not a huge deal. I don't exactly go there for the bagels. The bagels are mediocre but I do have an obsession with the veggie cream cheese! Also, the Reuben is great on a pumpernickel bagel. Down side is that they are super overpriced for what you get! My wallet hurt after spending $12 on just a Reuben and a strawberry banana smoothie! I would have given them a 3 1/2 or a 4 if the prices weren't so crazy! read more

Great bagels and a great variety, oh and they are FAR from the size of frozen supermarket bagels lol. Great selection of food and great people, just an overall better option for real food as opposed to cookie cutter frozen food from D&D. I have gone here on and off for at least a dozen years. The service has been terrible and slow at times, but after today I will no longer go there. I arrived at 1:25 (they close at 2) to the drive thru with no one in front of me, yet I still waited for several minutes. With a harsh "sorry for your wait", I was asked for my order. I asked for bacon and egg on a super egg bagel. I was told they had no super egg bagels, only plain. (Your a bagel place. You might want to have more than 1 kind) I say plain is fine. I'm then told that the grill is off and I can get a bagel or a deli sandwich. I'm not thrilled, but I change my order to just a plain bagel, toasted with butter. With an attitude, I'm told to pull forward and they will give me the total at the window. The worker that was at the window was one of the RUDEST young ladies I have ever seen in my life. Every word out of her mouth was rude. Her mannerisms were nasty. She asked if I was paying with cash or card. I still didn't have the amount, so cash, but I wasn't given a total. Her nasty response was the register wasn't working and she had to walk up front to get total. All 6 feet away. After paying for a small, overpriced plain bagel she even has the nerve when I said "thank you" to slam the drive thru window. Bad enough they shut the grill down over a half hour before closing time, but there was ZERO apology and only an attitude given. I live and work in Endwell and used to LOVE going there once a week. I have slowly cut that back the last few years because of the prices going up and service going down hill, but now I think I'll stick to Dunkin across the street for good. read more

Inconsistent food service. Out of date menu items. I tried ordering a steak, egg and cheese which is a popular menu item at another location and was told they don't have steak there. I then ordered a bacon egg and cheese on an onion bagel for my wife, and a sausage egg and cheese on a plain roll for myself. When I got home the meat on the sandwiches was reversed. I understand these mistakes at 730-8 am at a busy time, but I was the only customer drive thru customer being served and an empty parking lot. read more

This place really used to have it together. Went in this morning for coffee and some breakfast on the way out of town and was significantly disappointed. It took forever to get two bagels, neither of which were correct. The coffee took the longest, and it was watered down so much we can't even drink it. Not to mention....Best Bagels has Java Joes coffee which is delicious....and they're butchering it. Not a single person working in there seemed to have any idea what was going on. Very disorganized.
