From the very beginning of this purchase, I should have known it was going to be a bad experience. The sales person hates his job. He was rude, and acted like we were bothering him by buying a $400.00 Alpine radio, with installation. If I had his name I would say it but since I returned the radio, they kept my receipt. Fatty told my husband it would be free installation because we purchased the radio, harness, DIM box etc. The total would be $159.00 at installation, that I waited 2 weeks for. So imagine my surprise when I get there at 8:30 am, with my radio, they don't have the parts. They never ordered the parts. They could order them but it would be another 2 weeks before they could get them and do this installation. Oh, but wait, Fatty was wrong in telling us it would be $159. Nooo, it would be $350 at installation. So, Fatty, who hates his job because hes a horrible salesman with zero knowledge or experience, was wrong and Best Buy was not willing to work with us in any way. My husband took off from work for this. We returned the radio, where they could have had our money, had they just worked with us. I wish Ida left a review 3yrs ago when I swore off this BB. Long story, I bought an item online. They were to deliver it, but when I went to the store for something else I decided I'd take it home. They wouldnt let me have it! Literally. It was behind the counter and they wouldn't give it to me, despite me having already paid for it. It was long drawn out and I actually canceled my entire order and swore never to set foot in the store again. 3yrs later I'm back. And the customer service isn't any better First I go to the computer area, explain the issue (having exhausted my friends' knowledge and a cursory search on the internet I figured I had to go to the "experts") and am directed to purchase item X. I explain that based on my research I'm pretty sure it won't work. He insists it will so (gaslit) I drive back home, plug it up. It doesn't work. I drive right back. Take it to the guy, explain that it didn't work. He says it's my computer. I say perhaps, but...do the configuration, here in the store, to show me what it is that I've done wrong. He won't. I even bring out my laptop from my backpack and ask him to do it. He won't. I get a "lead" person to make him do it. And it doesn't work and he doesn't know why I go to the geek squad. The guy says "oh. You need item Y, not X. And though his jargon sounds a bit better than the previous, I'm still wary, because my logic says it won't. But I exchange X for Y and go home and try it. Doesn't work Flustered and perturbed, I get back online and for the next 30min I research the problem. Finally someone with the same issue is on Reddit and provided a solution...item found at Amazon of course. Ordered and delivered same day...my problem is fixed...no thanks to Best Buy Today, I go back, to return item Y. I then Go to the laptop area to explain to the laptop guy what I really needed so he could have this info if another customer comes with the same problem. He wasn't there. But there were 3 young men behind the counter. At 1:30ish the area was empty except me, and two customers that one of the guys was helping The other 2, literally just stood still, talking to one another while I stood looking at them, and then to cables, and looking like I needed help. They made zero move to ask, help, come over. Even looked me in the eye and kept talking. After about 5min...which is a LONG time to stand and chat while someone is standing waiting for help. I finally walked away I DID go to the geek side, and the guy there today-(not the same as guy yesterday ) listened to the scenario and we came to the agreement of what I'd discovered on the internet. (At least one person had sense) Finally I tried to call BB to share my experience w a manager. The phone line doesn't give an option to speak to a manager but connected me to a person out the country. When I asked if she was in the store she said no. Worst experience, purchased a refrigerator and delivery plus removal of my old refrigerator. 4,600.00 Delivery came and the two delivery men decided that since my sweet dog was out when they pulled up, (I put the dog in the bedroom and shut the door) walked back outside and they said they are not delivering it because they feel I dis-respected them by having the dog out, which frankly I didn't think about. TLDR; Terrible customer service by Mike, the store manager! I have been shopping at this location for 10 years now and all of my interactions with other managers have been exceptional! All it takes to get a 1-star is a manager like Mike. I'll be changing my 5-star Google review to a 1-star as well. Full story: I ordered an Apple Watch Ultra online and due to unavailability, I had to order it open box, excellent condition. The order was delayed 4 times and my 2-day shipping turned out to be 13 days. When I received the order, it was missing the box which as per the description should've been there (or a suitable replacement). The watch and a charger came in a generic box and the watch was uncleaned and poorly wrapped. I called Best Buy and they checked the location and told me to go to this Best Buy as they have it in stock. I was told they would do an exchange. And I told them there seems to only be new conditions available, I was told a store manager can override this and do an exchange. However, Mike declined this request and was not even willing to hear the story. Instead, started accusing me of buying items open box just to exchange them with new condition; When he could clearly check my order date and see they did not have the new in stock. He could also have checked my order date and delivery date (i had email proof of each delay notification). He was ignorant, stopped responding to me and just walked away after he said "its not his store's fault". read more

I went there to purchase a Samsung frame TV which were out of stock so Rodney showed me an LG that he said was better and he showed me all of the frames that are available. So I said I would take it since it had matted frames. Upon getting the the home there were no frames available. I tried to call the store but there is no way to contact the store. I called LG and they told me that only the store model has frames by using a flash drive for customers to view. I wanted to return for store credit so I could put the money towards a faster more expensive router. In the end, I would be spending an additional $200 with this store. However, I was two days past the return date. That's definitely my fault for not checking the date, I assumed we'd have 30 days after christmas. Anyway, because of this they would not do the store credit and told me to sell my item on facebook. It blows my mind they wouldn't help me out. I've been a loyal customer there for years, spending thousands of dollars and they just didn't care at all. This made me realize I shouldn't be spending money with a corporation that doesn't care about it's customers. Just came here 11/25/17 (the day after Black Friday) after making an online purchase to pick up in store. First of all, the item was ready within 30 minutes of me buying it online, which was great! While I was here, with my daughter in tow, I figured I'd ask about their iPad mini door buster. $275 for an iPad mini that's normally $400. I figured it was a long shot and that they'd probably sold out, but to my surprise they did have some available. I was talking very quietly to the employee because the gift was for my daughter, who was with me. I told the associate this, and they went above and beyond to ensure the purchase was made without my daughter's knowledge. Which is tricky, cause she's nosey lol! I've been shopping at this Best Buy for years. I spend thousands of dollars here. I've had various experiences at this store, ranging from horrible (bought 5 iPad Mini's at one time, and had to wait an hour before someone could help me. And no, the store was not busy) to pretty great service. I just bought a new TV here, which they charged me $3600 for. I happened to notice the price had dropped by $1000 a few days ago, so naturally, I wanted my money back. The manager said, "Because it's beyond 15 days, we're not going to refund your money." He was indifferent to the fact that I'd been a loyal customer, had an attitude, and basically told me to piss off. Worst customer service *EVER*. I've had enough of these guys. Extremely dissatisfied with the Geek Squad. Took my Asus laptop to have the screen replaced (all under warranty) where they told me I would have a 2 week-maximum wait. After calling 503 times to hear the same automated voice, I was informed that they had to order a part from a different vendor. Keep in mind I dropped my laptop off 1/16/18 and was told this information 2/6/18. So they "rushed the order" and told me the part would be delivered 2/23/18.. WHAT!? and that only then would they begin to fix my laptop. So instead of taking 2 weeks like I was told, it's now going to be 2 months. Thanks geek squad! I also may have lost all of my files because I didn't pay $100.00 to have my files backed up.. what a joke. Seriously, i get that things happen.. but to go uninformed for nearly a month while i thought my laptop was being fixed is ridiculous. 10/10 would NOT recommend. read more

BUYER BEWARE! READ THESE REVIEWS! In all of my years as a consumer, I can't think of a better example of horrible customer service than this store consistently provides. I personally have had a handful of bad experiences here and keep hearing, from person after person, what lousy service they received. Being in customer service for many years, I know that sometimes customers can be unreasonable. But that's not the case here. My daughter in law was having trouble with a computer her mom bought there recently (she didn't know how they treated me). Within the first month, the screen was flickering. It wasn't bad, at first, but progressively got worse. After a few months they decided to take it in. They were told that since they DIDN'T buy the WARRANTY that Best Buy pushes, they'd have to pay an $80 fee to send it back to the manufacturer. I called and spoke to the manager in customer service, explained the situation, and she told me it wouldn't be an issue and there would be no charge. "We have to say that for extreme situations like if there's water damage but I can't recall the last time there was an issue". My daughter in law brought in in and later received a call that there would be an $80 fee plus a charge for the repair because it MIGHT have been dropped. We never dropped it. "Well we have no way of knowing that". Well do you have a way of knowing that it wasn't dropped by the manufacturer, or the delivery service, or one of your employees in receiving or when stocking? No, you don't. You look for any possible reason to screw over your customer and set policies to bully people into buying your warranty. So they screwed her over and took her money for doing nothing. My neighbor was a victim of ransom ware. She couldn't get into her system and wasn't about to pay a group of thieves from Nigeria ransom (they were identified by the police). She brought her laptop to the Geek Squad in Bel Air. She was in tears when they told her they could offer no option but to erase the drive and reinstall the operating system. She explained that every photo she has of her grandchildren were on that laptop. "Well didn't you back them up?" they asked. That's it. Make her feel even worse. If she backed them up, would she be in tears? She said she needs to think about it and took her laptop home. She just happened to mention it to me. I looked into it. The thieves locked her out with a primary windows password. It's different from user passwords. Once that password is created, you must know it to get in. The geeks were correct that the operating system needed to be reinstalled. However, I was able to download free software from Symantec that enabled me to easily retrieve ALL of her files, documents and photos, and back them up on a thumb drive, before deleting the partition and doing the install. Another friend of mine had gone to the geek squad because she had gotten a virus. She was told the same thing, that she'd need everything wiped out and reinstalled. She would lose everything. Using a free online virus scanner, I was able to identify the virus. I did a little research and was able to completely remove the virus by removing 42 lines of code in the registry. Her system was virus free and she lost nothing. All in all, it only took a couple of hours. I am aware of how other computer repair shops operate. Go to the Geek Squad in Bel Air, MD and pay more money for lesser quality service, with far less expertise, under a manager who, when push comes to shove, won't back up the service if she can find any possible way to weasel out of it by blaming you. I gave Best Buy a bad review a few years back because they don't stand behind what they sell. I had bought FIVE pairs of Beats Wireless and three of them had issues within a few months. They were defective. They kept coming apart at seams where the plastic connected. Their service employee told me they were clearly not damaged and they'd take care of it. Then the manager came by and she said "Sorry but we can't exchange something damaged." I told her to take a closer look because they are clearly not damaged. They still look new and fell apart at the seams. "Sorry but we decided in a meeting that Beats customers have to deal directly with the company". She wouldn't even own HER decision. She kept referring to the other geniuses in the company and this meeting they had. She walked away for a moment and the customer service rep said "I can't believe she's treating you like that! You're an elite status customer!" I believe that refers to what I'd spent there in the previous year, which was about 20K. She could have exchanged the headphones and damaged them out. Even if she ate the cost, it's a drop in the bucket compared to what she cost her store. I haven't shopped there since and several of my friends and neighbors have told me that they've been going elsewhere because of her brilliant executive decision. read more

Initially there was a problem with a $2000 flat screen having a stand that wouldn't work with the TV. I recommend that when this kind of issue I.e. a substandard product is purchased, call the store manager immediately. Insist on speaking with that person. The manager said they could not switch out the stand for another one and return that box to the manufacturer. They wanted the entire box with tv returned and this presents a chance the tv would get damaged and that blamed on us. We persisted and I told them if we returned it it would be for a credit and we'd buy at another store. So they sent the geek squad out once to check the problem and then after more calls THEY came out again with another tv and hooked it all up. Persistence is the key and go right to the top. No one has time for principles but if they had not handled it I already had the number to the CEO's office and would have called them. Don't be mean be firm. read more

I used to like the Best Buy in Bel Air. They would back up their computers with service and if anything went wrong - especially something like a three-time problem, they would automatically just give you a new computer. That kind of customer service caused me to return there for future purchases. Today however, they have come to use their geek squad as a new money-making service which costs $200 up front (a yearly cost) for services to be rendered to your computer. We bought a brand new computer there a couple months ago and it has been in their geek squad department more time than it's been in my house. Every time I've received it back it is doing the same problem within 5 minutes of turning it on. Every time you call to speak to them, you have to wait for their automated service to eventually connect you to a person - that usually will be about 20 minutes. All they do is set you up for an appointment to come in so you can wait even longer to eventually speak to someone behind the desk that has about the average amount of computer experience as most other 20 year olds. They have been unable to fix any of the problems I have had with my computer and since I didn't know they had a two-week limit for exchanges, I'm out of luck and now have a computer that doesn't work. They continue to tell me if it works for them. They couldn't actually be using it because it acts up for me within minutes of turning it on. If it worked, I wouldn't be complaining. After picking it up for the third time this morning, it immediately froze up on me again and I called back and talked to someone who told me he was going to get an answer for me and would call me right back. I told him I didn't want to wait for hours for a call back and he assured me he was going to ask a supervisor and get right back to me. As I write this it has been nearly three hours. I am done using Best Buy for any future purposes due to their inept geek squad that I paid an extra $200 for. What used to be excellent customer service has turned into a two-week window of opportunity and then you're screwed. read more

My son bought a dryer from Best Buy 13 months ago. He paid extra for an extended warranty. A month ago, his dryer stopped working. Now that more that 30 days have passed, he has made countless phone calls, had service calls in which no one has shown up, talked to many different "managers", and still doesn't have a working dryer. Unfortunately, he has taken time off from work, spent money and time at the laundromat, and still can't find someone from Best Buy to help solve this problem. Right before I exited a employee asked if I found everything I told him No and he told me he would get someone back there. Customer service gets 5 stars!! In every department i shopped, an associate quickly offered to help me find what I was looking for and described the product so I knew what I did and did not want. They were polite and took the time to explain the features of the product. I shopped in 3 departments and bought 1 item. Not because of the service, but one item was out of stock and the other did not fill my needs. I shop here often and the customer service has always been amazing. This Best Buy is about middle of the road when it comes to selection. It's not as big as other Best Buys I've been too, but it was better kept up than others too. That said, I've picked up some stuff here before, including my Canon 60D, and I've had some decent luck with sales. The employees are, like most Best Buys, young and likely don't know much of what they're talking about, so it's sort of annoying when they constantly ask if you need help. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. STAY AWAY. I purchased a 65" Sony TV for $1500.00 and a RING security package for $2000.00. Strike 1. I got the TV home unloaded the TV with the help of my neighbor. I unpacked the unit and could NOT assemble the stand as the required screws were missing. Strike 2. The next day I attempted to call the store to determine if I could just come and get the screws or would I have to return the entire unit. After waiting 1 HOUR ON HOLD, (apparently they have a phone bank which covers multiple stores) I was told I had to "return the entire unit". So I had to repackage the unit and with the help of my neighbor reload it into my car and returned to the store. At the store customer service desk. They told me they were just going to find the required screws. I told them their phone bank customer service told me to "return the entire unit". Why did I have to repack and reload the unit? Why couldn't I just have gotten the missing parts without repacking and returning the entire unit in the first place? At this point I insisted on a NEW replacement. After internal debate, they decided to give me a NEW unit. While I was waiting for the new TV, the customer service staff had the BALLS to unpack the returned unit and test it to see if was in working order. Strike 3. As we were purchasing the new TV, I had asked if Best Buy would recycle our old TV. The clerk told me they would. I asked again to make sure there was no fee. The staff confirmed they would recycle and did not mention a fee. (My wife was with me and witnessed the conversation). After finally installing the new TV, I loaded the old one in the car and returned to the store to recycle it. At customer disservice, I asked where to drop off the old TV for recycle. They told me there would be a $25 recycle fee. I reviewed my conversation during the purchase and they told me I would still have to pay the fee. I left the store disgusted. After this experience, I will do everything to AVOID shopping at Best Buy. THEY ARE DECEPTIVE AND HAVE THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. The following review is based on my experiences at the Bel Air, MD BB store. First of all, they have terrible customer service, poor management and staff that has very little, if any, technical knowledge at all. I buy a lot of products at BB but I loathe talking to their management or non-management employees so I no longer seek out their assistance. I now just have everything delivered to my house so I don't have to physically go to the store. I've dealt with many employees over the years and most have bad attitudes and/or are sometimes just downright rude. Furthermore, Geek Squad is a joke. I have had two computers worked on there: one laptop they didn't know how to open the bottom to change the RAM, they kept the computer approximately two weeks and I had to call them a number of times for a status check, when I finally got the laptop back they said they couldn't do what I brought it in for; the other laptop I had worked on there was returned to me in worse condition than when I gave it to them to install a Solid State Drive in addition to the hard drive. They also kept the computer about two or three days beyond the stated return date. I had to seek out a competent computer repair service to fix what they did. I will never let them touch another one of my computers nor will I consult any BB staff for any information. I highly recommend avoiding this particular store if you need any guidance or if you need any type of Geek Squad services. Do yourself a favor and seek out a competent, knowledgeable, independent computer repair service to trust with your valuable electronics. read more

Store manager Thang was completely inflexible in exchanging a life proof based on color due to the fact that I purchased a black life proof case on Black Friday and now my son preferred the blue one. It would've been an easy and quick fix for her and would have let a customer leave the store completely satisfied but she kept saying that they were different SKUs based on different colors. She was extremely unpleasant. I plan to do all my shopping on Amazon prime, Walmart, target or Sears- anywhere but Best Buy. And I encourage others to do the same unless they want to be subjected to horrible customer service! read more
