I went in to check on my sad chromebook. I am a rewards member and a TotalTech plan user, so I am praying the BB Geeks can help "us." I like this location. It's busy, and the flow of people is constant. The customer service greeter made my laugh, and she pointed to the Geek repair squad area and said, "It will be fine." The service was good, but I was only able to make an appointment. They don't do walk-ins anymore due to staffing since COVID. That is understandable. The selection of products is amazing. I might even replace my OEM car stereo with one of their options, and they will install it for me, too. That's cool. I did use the restroom, and it was clean and well maintained. Very nice touch after driving all afternoon. This location is better than its rating average. I think they have improved in many areas since the bad teviews took place. I keep getting conne ted overseas...they have no ability to connect you to the store. I was overcharged at register for a Solid State Drive by 60.00. Display and online show correct price ( there were multiple items on receipt so I failed to notice). There is no adult supervision visible on site. I sense this historically great biz on way out. At checkout she pitched us with a $20 dollar reward for our next purchase which I thought was a special going on. There was ABSOLUTELY ZERO mention of a credit card. I should've known when I was entering my information so shame on me too. However, they should absolutely disclose that you are signing up for a credit card. After being in the store for about 30 minutes before anyone spoke to me, I purchased a LG Soundbar 5.1.1. I was told all the connection cables were included, however when I got home the one cable I needed, the optical cable was not in the box. When I finally found a phone number an contacted customer service, I was told the only thing I could do was to take the item back to the store and they would replace it with another. The soundbar is connected with all the parts and it's in place. The box has been broken down and ready for trash. Why can't I just get a new cable? The box was heavily taped and resealed, so evidently someone else did return it. This is just such a huge inconvenience for a $8 cable. Worst possible experience, GO AT YOUR OWN RISK. 3 hour round trip. Keep that part in mind... Drove to the store almost a month ago now to get a monitor. Talked to the rep for about an hour to confirm what I wanted - Curved Monitor that has split screen capability. After showing me what I would want, brought out the box, I paid and drove home. Got home, opened the box, not the monitor I purchased... Too late to go back, so had to drive back the next day (Customer Service was 0 help). Got to the store the checked it out and confirmed the rep grabbed the wrong box. Confirmed what I needed, got the new Monitor and headed home. Had to wait to buy recommended 4 port HDMI. Ordered on line from BB. When I got it, it didnt work. Called Geek Squad. They confirmed the monitor would not do what it was sold to me for and the 4 port HDMI was useless (this took several calls and hours of time. They did give me an extension to get to someone in the store. 4 days of leaving messages and finally got in touch with someone. They also confirmed they sold me the wrong item, got an Assitant Manager on who said she agreed it was a bad exp and their fault, but couldnt du anything other than I drive a 3rd time in, and can pay the full amount for the correct one and return the wrong one. We both agreed that was not a good customer exp at all and she would have the General manager call the next morning. Waited till that afternoon. Was told they where discussing my issue and would call me back in a few minutes. 4 hours later still no call and they stopped answering the phone... So after being a loyal customer for decades, I am now out $1300 + for a monitor and hub i dont need. My only choice to to drive back a 3rd time and see if they can figure it out. I've been a Best Buy customer for years even before Circuit City closed down. But the customer service is nonexistent anymore. There's no value left to the loyal customer base there used to be an appreciation for buying stuff here but that's gone. I'd bought a Rexing 120 watt car charger for laptops and phones it's not working and the less than great lady at the counter told me to buy another or call the company. While the prices might be ok on some things I'm done with Best Buy if they want to be like that with customers it isn't worth my time or money anymore. Okay, I was ONE DAY outside the return policy for a razor. A $50 razor. Tried to return and they claimed because it was open they couldn't accept it. BUT if I had it there yesterday they would have taken it. Also the entire parking lot was being paved so you couldn't park close by. The lady next to me was getting a 42" TV and asked for help carrying it across two lots and the cashier said into the microphone "it's a small TV but she still wants help carrying it." Guess what is have to replace in the next 6 months? Oven, fridge and freezer and guess where I will NOT be buying them from. Management better figure out quickly that eating $50 (which isn't the actual loss) is the better way to go, and maybe teach your employees to speak more softly or have better manners. read more

I have not been to this location in years. But found myself in the area and needed to purchase an iPhone case for a gift. Parking is plentiful and I parked by the door. No debris in the lot, or around the door. A company was there installing new exterior light bulbs. I was NOT greeted as I came in the door even though there is always a staff person positioned just inside. I did ask the man where to find an iPhone case and was directed properly. The cases are all up front and arranged nicely and attractively. The case are organized by size and type so it was easy to located what I needed. A staff person in the area stocking helped me with questions and was very knowledgeable. This alone bumped the store to a four stars. Selection is great and it took me over 30 minutes to pull the trigger. Cases are outrageous and over priced, but this is MSRP and not just this store. If you are looking for awesome deals look in the clearance area not far from retail. They have red circle sticker on them and can be over 50% off. I wish this would have worked out, but unfortunately no. Keep in mind if your looking for upgraded designer cases like Cole Hahn, or Tumi they are located in a different area, but not far. I stumbled on them and although they did not fit the bill for a female this would be awful to overlook because they are really terrific looking cases. I used the restrooms before heading out and found them clean with proper supplies. They are located in the back right corner. Checkout had only one cashier which was okay with a light weekday. However with one person in front of me having issues it would have been nice if another line was opened. The staff woman was nice enough, asked me if I was a Best Buy REWARDS member. I have just recently began to come back to Best Buy. It seems like they have made improvements in several areas of the business and worthy of me coming back. Ok, what does "Open Box" mean to you? We purchased a Dell Laptop as an open box item. Everywhere I ever worked this means the item was returned after the package had been opened. I guess that is not what it means at this store. While working on the device the day after bringing it home, it shut itself down several times. After the second occurrence my husband took it to the store AND GUESS WHAT? It was ACTUALLY AN ITEM SENT OUT FOR REPAIR! The salesperson misrepresented the product to make the sale. Here's a non-food related review from me (Gasp!) This is by far my favorite Best Buy in area. It is the largest of the Hampton Roads locations and in my experience has the best selection. Nine times out of ten I can walk in the door, find exactly what I want and be out the door within a few minutes. I also find the customer service here is a step above the other close Best Buy in the Pembroke area in Va Beach. The staff is friendlier and and more willing to help without hovering all over you. The isles are also wide and easily able to accommodate someone who may be in a wheel chair or Rascal. Last but not least, the parking lot is huge. You should almost never have a hard time finding a space close to the door. read more

Usually before I go to a store like Best Buy, I would have already done my research - price checking, reading reviews on a product I want to buy, and overall making sure that I am getting exactly what I want. However, during this particular visit, I came in with my bf and his family regarding his Sprint iPhone upgrade. We were helped tremendously by a younger gentleman named Justin. Seriously, I cannot stress to you how great he was. We were essentially upgrading my bf's dad's phone, and transferring it to his (because my bf's screen was shattered & he wasn't due for an upgrade for another year, however, his dad was eligible for an upgrade). He was super helpful in helping us find the best deal on all the accessories, price matched a screen protector for us & saved my bf a lot of money! NOT TO MENTION, during the time that he was helping us, he was actually at the end of his shift. Instead of passing us over to the next employee and leaving, he stayed with us till the very end. A 38mm Rose Gold Series 3 Apple Watch drew me into Best Buy today on my lunch break. It's hard to find some time to go shopping for a surprise gift for your wife when you live with her. Like I said, it was my lunch break and Chesapeake is about 15 minutes away from my work, so I was pretty pressed for time. I entered, and went directly for the Apple section. It was actually pretty hard to get anyone's attention to check for product availability. It took me a good 5 to 10 minutes before I could find anyone who was free around the Apple section to help me out. Once I finally got someone's attention I was able to get the watch I wanted within a few minutes. They had both the 38 and 42 mm watches in stock, so I had good options to choose from. I'd really like to see a little more staff available around the Apple section. This seems to be the case with a lot of Best Buy stores. Plenty of staff everywhere else, but the Apple section is pretty vacant. read more

I came to this location with one objective, see if the geek squad could help me connect my wireless Bluetooth earphones to my phone. I purchased the ear phones from Best Buy online on Black Friday and it worked when I first bought them, but for some reason it stopped connecting, so I came to see if one of their (experts) could help me. When I first walked in, the employee working in the front was very friendly and pointed me in the direction of the geek squad center. After that it went down hill. I waited to be greeted even though nobody else was waiting in line, but there were 2 employees taking to each other, so I did not want to interrupt them. After about 5 minutes one of them asked what I needed and I explained my situation. He immediately said sorry we don't help with that. I was a bit shocked and said I received an email informing me I could come it to get my ear phones hooked up, so could you look at it and see if maybe I'm doing something wrong. He kind of sighed and said well we can help connect them, but can't to anything if you are having issues due to software. I informed him, I don't know what the issue is, so I wanted to have someone look at it. Long story short is the geek squad wasn't very helpful, in my opinion did not know anything and so after about 10 minutes using their display laptops in the store I found a YouTube video that helped resolve my issue. I did not have any software problems. I just had to restart my headphones manually and force pair my Bluetooth. I feel this was knowledge an (expert) geek squad should know about, especially when the products are being sold in their store. I probably will not be coming back to this location for help. There was a time when I hated Best Buy, possibly around the time our fearless Yelp Community Director Xerxes worked there. I had yet to embrace online shopping and dreaded going to Best Buy to buy or shop for anything. I always preferred to shop at Circuit City and lamented their demise in 2009. My main TV is still the 50" Panasonic plasma I bought at CC a week before they went out of business. In retrospect the reasons I preferred CC to BB may have had something to do with CC's struggling to survive. BB was always crowded and it was hard to find a free sales associate while CC was never crowded. It was easy to browse and no one bothered you but when you were ready to purchase it was easy to find an available associate. CC also had a very easy online order/store pick up model. It was quick and easy while every time I tried to do the same thing at BB the procedure took unreasonably long and was problematic in the execution. After CC went out of business Best Buy became the only real option for tech and electronics in my home area (Sears, Target, Walmart, etc... didn't seem to take consumer electronics seriously and merely give it lip service, hhgregg had yet to move into the market). Best Buy was my only option and I didn't like it. Eventually my feelings changed. When hhgregg came into this market I immediately turned to them for my tech and consumer electronics needs however I quickly became disenchanted with the shopping experience there. Like the old Circuit City stores, they were never busy and seemed to have an unlimited number of sales associates working on commission poised to interrupt your shopping at every turn. I came to appreciate Best Buy's lack of available sales associates. I'm pretty knowledgeable about electronics and I do my homework so I usually know more about a product I'm considering than the typical sales associate. Consequently, I pretty much like to be left alone while I'm shopping. Now that I have fully embraced online shopping I have really grown to appreciate Best Buy. Best Buy has a pretty good selection of electronics and appliances across a broad range of types. The store is always clean and well organized, the associates are always friendly and polite. If you tell them you don't need help they leave you alone. BB has made great improvements over the years in their online order/store pick up service and I use it often. It's generally seamless, just order and pay online then go the store to pick up your order after receiving notice of it being ready. I'm usually in and out of the store in five minutes. A lot of times I will research a product and decide on what I want to purchase. I love that I can often go to Best Buy to actually see and touch the product I am considering, sometimes I will even be swayed to change my mind on a product based solely on the fact that I can get it at BB today rather than waiting a couple of days for shipping from an online store. What really puts it over the top is that they will price match Amazon and some other online retailers in addition to local brick and mortar stores, this has been a game changer for me. I now have absolutely no reason to buy online when I can get the same price for a product locally. I also appreciate the quality of products I've purchased at BB over the years. I don't think I've ever had to return a single item from computers, phones, TV's, routers, media streamers, cameras, TiVo's, CD's, video discs, Blu-ray players, speakers, AVR's, cables, satellite radios, tablets, major appliances, etc... Wow! I sure have bought a lot of stuff over the years but nary a return. I also love earning rewards points on my purchases and getting free financing or discounts when I use my Best Buy credit card to purchase items. There is plenty of parking available in the huge private lot, you've got to love that. I'm always greeted pleasantly when I walk through the door, it's a nice touch that sets off your shopping experience with a positive tone. read more

If no star had been an option I would have awarded no star. I ordered and paid for a refrigerator two weeks ago and was told the delivery will take place today between 7 AM and 1pm. I was also told this morning that the technicians were on their way and in reliance on their word I ordered groceries. About 10 minutes before my 1 o'clock time slot I got a text saying that oops the refrigerator is not on the truck ... will deliver next week. This means I would be without a functional refrigerator for basically 3 1/2 weeks. After five hours of useless repetitive apologetic phone calls up the corporate ladder being passed around like a hot potato at a keto fest... (I had to go corporate because apparently the Chesapeake store manager has a phone allergy and won't touch a phone . Corporate could not get him to pick up they were on hold for 45 minutes...) Best Buy admitted that they sold me a refrigerator they don't exactly have. So if you want to wait ten days get lied about your delivery and waste a full day chasing obsequious useless apologies going nowhere, deal with Best Buy. Me... I cancelled my order and bought the fridge elsewhere. At 5:30 tonight...Adam the manager made some little girl call me because apparently his phone allergy precludes him actually doing his job. They failed to show up for two installation appointments with no communication whatsoever

I've been shopping here for 6 years ever since we moved into the Tidewater area. We have probably spent about 15,000 dollars in that space of time on appliances and electronics. The in store experience is great; the sales associates are always knowledgeable and will do everything they can to help you out and get you what you need. But let's say you placed a large appliance order, or need to call and talk to someone on the floor with some questions about your order....forget it. Best Buy is extremely ill equipped to answer phones, they are never, ever, on the same page when it comes to tracking orders and giving customers a delivery date. Here's my logic: Best Buy has a huge 4th of July appliance sale. 40% off! Free delivery on orders of $399 and more! Why does it take a week to have the appliances shipped to your location? Since you have a large market presence should you not be more organized logistically? Why don't your associates have access to a user interface friendly software thst will allow them to relay important information to customers? The irony in all this is that I am on hold with best buy right now as I write this. I've been on hold for 5 hours. I was on the phone with them for another 5 hours yesterday.
