External agencies, I had a great experience the other day at Home Depot in Chesapeake I had started to load my cart with two by fours by eight and tens when David C approached me with a smile and asked if he could help in anyway I said sure so he would grab one in and all the other he made sure to inspect the wood for warpage, etc. and of course it was all good quality and after I was done, he asked if I needed help loading it into my truck. Home Deport is sapose to be the authorized dealer for Ryobi Tools. I was on the Ryobi web Site today and made the order for a tool that was to come with two batteries and a charger. This was the only reason I made this purchase. When checking out the price was the same as it was advertised for. When delivered it did not include the batteries and charger. I called the store and texted the main office. I exsplained I filled out all the information with Ryobi. It made no difference, I was made out to be telling lies. As being a Disabled Veteran and being dishonored I will not shop here again! Loyal customers are not respected! read more

I got really great customer service yesterday! This Home Depot has a big garden area. I went to get a hose but couldn't quite find the hose attachment I was looking for. I asked a staff member for help . He noticed the hose piece I needed was still in a box packed up. So he got the box down and got it for me. I really like their flowers and garden stuff. Great prices. Checkout was really easy too. Friendly staff there too. I'm happy with my Home Depot experience. read more

I purchased a washing machine from Home Depot. Spent more than $1200. Now, I freaking HATE Whirlpool/Maytag! So in 2.5 years my washing machine died. Home Depot said there was nothing they could do and that I would need to contact the company directly. Called said it would be over $500 to fix or I could get a warranty for $400 and they'd cover it getting fixed and a warranty for 3 years. I went with the #Warranty option. However, the people that they scheduled to come never showed up and then rescheduled it for a week later, when I called and complained, there was nothing they could do. I asked for it to be escalated because my clothes were trapped in dirty water in the washing machine. I called a person on my own and had them come out. A technician was able to open it and get my clothes out. And also tell me what the problem was, a broken motherboard. I called the #Warranty people again and ask for additional assistance as for escalation there was nothing they could do. Second timeframe came for the company to come out and they no showed. When I called the #Warranty company there was nothing they could do. I had to call the third-party again. I complained and said they could go ahead and cancel the #Warranty because they weren't doing anything for me. If they couldn't get somebody out there they said somebody would come out this Thursday. We are now going over a month of no washing machine. Hence me having to spend money and gas and laundromat fees. Last night I get a text that says they have extended my appointment out an additional week and will not be here today. I tried calling the warranty company and they no longer have me under warranty. So even if the company would have showed up today, I would have ended up having to pay because now they've canceled my #Warranty. This is the shittiest thing I've ever experienced. It is so sketchy. So I get home today and there's boxes on my porch. Guess what just happened to show up the damn broken motherboard and some other piece that I don't even know what it is. read more

Worst customer service. Home Depot online is a JOKE. I ordered a mini fridge from Home Depot online. 1. The order came damaged in 4 different spots 2. The outside box was not damaged by any means 3. Which tells me that Home Depot repackaged a damaged fridge and sent it to my house. I talked to Home Depot support and said that they could have USPS pick up the unit at my house with timeframes ranging from 6am to 8pm. They said I could set the fridge on my porch and USPS can pick it up that way (so someone can steal it and I'm out my refund, no thanks) and then they said I could order another fridge but I would have to pay for it and I can't just SWITCH the fridge out. I said no thanks because I'm apprehensive that the same thing will happen. So I had to take my time, energy and money to drop off this damaged item I paid full price for. I go to the store take it back and process the refund. The next day I check my Home Depot account and realized I was DOUBLE charged for the fridge. $259.67 for fridge + extended warranty and 2 other separate charges - 1. For the fridge $222.59 and 2. $37.08 for the extended warranty independently. I called Home Depot support to tell them I have been double charged and they tell me it must be a glitch but they are processing a refund for the $222.58 and $37.08. I got a call about 10 hours later (20 minutes ago about) for the lady to argue with me on the phone saying that the reason I got called the $259.67 was when they ship the item, but it should have dropped off once I got the item and the $222.58 and $37.08 was the actual charge. BUT get this, she stands ten toes down that I wasn't charged TWICE but yet, she recommends I take it up with my BANK and that everything on their side was handled.. I'm absolutely done with Home Depot. I'm sick of these people wasting my time and doing the bare minimum. read more

It was so nice nit to have to hunt someone down, like at other big home stores. I have frequently had wonderful assistance at Home Depot, but Destiny was knowledgeable and pleasant. After order arrived at 150 pm, bags of concrete were broken getting concrete dust on pickets. Oddly the concrete wasn't stacked in pickets when the order arrived. I'm guessing someone noticed the bags were broken and removed it from on top of the pickets. 17 of the pickets were not usable because of concrete, heavy mold, and / or broken. Your employees stack these items and don't notice the condition they are in? Hard to believe. You have a culture that doesn't care about quality. The pickets were also on top of the 4x4s. Why stack the pickets on top of 4x4s when the pickets are used last? This was order WJ53194158. Now...wj53980665. I ordered days ago. Got confirmation may 1st it was being delivered between 10-12 on May 2nd. Paid $130 for delivery.This was an order placed on April 27th. I then get a vm at 750pm on May 1st that you don't have the pickets. Are you guys doing this on purpose? As a contractor I can no longer rely on HD to deliver basic items they claim to have in stock. On top of it your customers pay for them up front so at the last minute you cancel the order . Typically takes 3-5 days to get the money back. If you don't know if you're going to have items in stock, how are you taking money up front? Your operations team is in need of replacement. Both of these orders are from different stores so I will have to assume this is a wide spread issue and take my business elsewhere. read more

The customer service at Home Depot on Tintern Rd in Chesapeake, VA is HORRIBLE. I bought a number of 4'x8' sheets of plywood and asked the cashier if someone was available to cut them for me. She just sent me to the cutting area. After a little while, I had to find her and ask again about someone cutting the wood. She told 2 guys that, AFTER they finished moving a couple of pallets of materials, that I needed some wood cut. They passed me TWICE with the pallet jack/forklift. I'm noone special, but you take care of your customers before moving materials around the store. At least that's what we did when I managed a retail store. read more

My husband and I came in with a long list of needs and we really don't have a clue what we are doing with some of these projects. I love this store. I can typically find more items here than other similar competing stores. This particular location appears very clean and all of the staff is friendly and helpful during this current pandemic. The store was not packed with people. I like that's the aisles are wide and each one is fully stocked. You can find just about anything you need here from paint, wood, appliances, plants and cleaning supplies. Right now they are stocked in real and artificial Christmas trees. They always have a great selection of Christmas decorations and even carry train sets to go around your Christmas tree. I would suggest calling ahead to make sure any big items are actually available before driving to pick it up in hopes of purchasing. There have been two times now where an item was posted online that showed it is available for purchase in the store but when we arrived they don't carry the item. We were informed they have been having issues with their online system. Also, bathrooms are spic and span clean! read more

Home Depot is a home improvement big box store which retails supplies, tools, construction products and services. They have great quality products and services and always seem to have what I need at a fair and competitive price. I enjoy shopping here. I appreciate that I can look up items online and see if they are in stock at this store or other Home Depot locations. Years ago I would wander the aisles of Home Depot dazed and confused. These days I can just look up an item on the Home Depot app on my phone and see exactly what row and the bin in which the item I seek is located. I absolutely love this feature. I appreciate the employees are friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. It's usually pretty easy to find someone available if I have a question or need advice, they are always able to provide valuable assistance. Another big plus, when I check out I can get a paper receipt and a receipt emailed to me as well. The large private parking lot provides ample space to park your vehicle even if you are driving a large truck. Access into the lot is easy enough but if you want to exit to the major thoroughfare (Battlefield Blvd.) it's a little cumbersome. If you want to head north on Battlefield you will need to turn right out of the lot and head down Volvo Parkway until you hit the traffic circle where you can head the opposite direction on Volvo to get to Battlefield where there is a traffic light. If you want to head south on Battlefield you have an additional option of using the other exit onto Tintern Street which enables you to cut through the Walgreens' parking lot to get to Battlefield. read more

I bought a $1400.00 refrigerator from HD, and the service agreement. It was a Whirlpool. The fridge did not work from day one. I had to borrow a loaner until the Whirlpool service guys got it running. It ran for a couple of months then stopped working again. Because the unit was still under warranty Home Depot washed their hands of it, and directed me to the Whirlpool phone trees. I finally got a promise of a service call for a week later, on a Friday, from 3-6:00pm. They never showed up. I'm so frustrated! Not a good look for Home Depot, and DEFINITELY stay away from Whirlpool products. So dissappointed.​ read more

I've shopped at Home Depot for a long time. Most visits are unremarkable: Neither outstanding, nor terrible. Tonight's experience, however, is worth a comment. Shopped for a weed eater. Selection was wide and readily available. One particular brand, Echo, was on sale for $199. There were three available. I grabbed one and headed to the register where it rang up as $289. Uhhhh... Fast-forward 45 minutes to work through the marked price vs. actual vs. why did this have to happen on a night where I was pushed for time conundrum? The end of the story is this: The weed eater I purchased for $289, along with two of the same model, were placed in the wrong display rack under the wrong $199 price label and the $199 weed eaters (which I THOUGHT I was buying) were, as you already know by now, under the $289 price label. I asked the kind lady to save the sanity of future HD weed eater shoppers by either swapping the price stickers or the inventory of weed eaters. To her credit, she chose the former and corrected the error while I headed over to customer service to complete the weed eater swap, refund, store credit and re-purchase. I lost over an hour of my life tonight. But at least my yard looks good. read more

The only real thing Home Depot has going for it is it is usually cheaper on most items. I am growing tired of the lack of customer service with Home Depot (all big box places to be honest). Home Depot NEEDS to realize that they are this large because of the customers that come in the store. A building supply type business shifting many products to online purchases only is an absolutely idiotic decision. This was a decision made by some moron from the accounting department because it costs an extra dollar to keep the product on site. If you charge an extra dollar for the item (or even 2) people would pay it for the convenience. It is decidedly INCONVENIENT to wait for 11 days so you can ship it from a warehouse that will probably pull the wrong one because the employees there are even less attentive to detail and customer needs than in the stores. If you need something a little specific, but VERY BASIC and VERY COMMON (like for instance a heating element for a basic oven range), then order it from Walmart or Amazon; if you have to wait for it anyway, you might as well pay half the price. read more

I moved to Virginia from the Midwest, selling one house and buying a new one. The bedroom flooring had to be replaced and we chose some LVP from HD on Tintern Lane in Chesapeake, ordered on 6/22, ETA 7/3. Meanwhile, I'm staying with a very sweet and generous relative who no doubt would be glad to have me settled in my new place as expected so she can have her routine back. Started getting notices from HD that the flooring was in but needed to be unloaded. Twenty odd calls and more than a week later, a manager tells us that it isn't there, can't be tracked, and she has no clue when it might arrive, intimating that i was lying about all those conversations with HD customer service who told me it was a matter of hours before the item would be ready for pickup. Also, if i canceled the order they would hit me with a huge restocking fee. WTF, HD?! Do you not train your people at all?! Meanwhile, my son in law, active duty military, who has offered to install said flooring, is messing up his schedule because of what HD is telling us about the imminent arrival of my flooring. Losing money every day that HD jerks us around. Finally, we go in person to find out what's going on. Bad scene. They lied and stonewalled us. No we're sorry about the inconvenience and expense. No we will do what we can to help. Just a big f you. Next morning, HD calls and says the tracking they told us could not be done was done after all and my flooring was located and would be ready for pickup the next day. WTF?! Was it teleported from the great beyond?! Or was that unpleasant manager lying through her teeth? (Door #2) Guess what they didn't tell us. The f-ing flooring had been delivered a week earlier to the wrong HD store! So the 20 odd phone calls with customer service reps were half right--my flooring was in but not one single person including our friend the manager bothered to check and see it was sent to the wrong store. Moral of the story: HD is yet another used to be decent store that has gone to s$&t because of greedy overpaid CEOs and already excessively rich investors. Never ever shopping there again. read more

One nice thing about Home Depot is that it's close to Lowe's. Plenty of parking places simply because everyone goes to Lowe's. I had ordered some supplies on line and went I went to pick them up, I felt like I was annoying the clerk because she was not customer friendly at all (6/13/19). Hey I like Home Depot! It's a chain of wonderful stores for home projects, remodeling and so much more. The staff is always friendly here. Especially the guy that mixes the paint. He's pretty awesome. Everyone is so helpful. If you're walking down an isle they will always ask if you need any help. They also offer a 10% military discount so make sure you ask for it. Their flower selection is great!!! $2 bags of mulch too. That's awesome. They could open an extra register or 2 though. There always seems to be only a couple registers open. I have been here several times and while the employees are friendly it was not the best experience I've had. Let me explain. I have been in Home Depots where the staff is very proactive. I have been asked each time an employee has seen me (I believe it was 5 x's) and while I need help only occasionally it is exceptional customer service. At this location you will be assisted by a staff member once your able to track one down and they will be glad to assist you though. My door installation: If only I had the option to apply (0) stars... I have yet to experience a decent installation from Home Depot. While I am not a perfectionist, I believe that a door should shut properly, and once the door is shut, my puppy should not be able to open it. I also believe that a door knob should be centered to the door knob cutout and light should not be visible through the hole. I returned to the store two days later, and no one was available to address my concerns. But, a clerk entered my information "into the system," and I was assured that I would receive a return phone call the next day. Here it is four days later, so, I called customer service. Transferred and directed to voice mail. How exactly will extremely low level of customer service correct my poorly installed door? So far, I am out almost $500, had this been done correctly. read more
