Title: Mismanaged install process, forced into a $600+ overhaul, and ghosted by support I am deeply disappointed with the store operations, communication, and lack of support from Best Buy's Autotech department (Fullerton Store #2514). My original goal was simple: keep a low-profile, clean OEM look in my 2018 Toyota RAV4 while upgrading the sound. I brought in a complete setup--4 new Kicker door speakers and a compact Kicker KEY200.4 DSP amplifier--specifically designed to run off the factory radio. I explicitly consulted with a Level 2 Master Autotech beforehand about this exact build. On install day, however, the store assigned a basic installer to my vehicle who clearly wasn't briefed on factory DSP integration, and that's when the goalposts started moving while my car was sitting in the bay: Call #1 from the Bay: The installer called me mid-install stating my Kicker amp was "incompatible" with my factory radio and that I needed a new head unit. Call #2 from the Bay: A short while later, he called again to say the cheaper JVC unit he initially suggested wouldn't work either, pushing me into a far more expensive Pioneer touchscreen (DMH-W3050NE), an iDatalink Maestro module (ADS-MRR), and full dash kits/harnesses. The Reality: The Kicker KEY200.4 is literally engineered by Kicker for factory radio integration using high-level speaker inputs. It was 100% compatible with my RAV4 to power those 4 new Kicker speakers. While the installer did get the Pioneer radio working fine in the end, Best Buy's scheduling system put him in an unfair position by assigning him a factory-integration job that required specialized T-harnessing or line-output setup. Instead of bringing in a Master Tech to assist, the store's default solution was to back me into a corner and walk me up the ladder into an unexpected $600+ equipment overhaul. My original vision for a clean, stealthy interior went completely out the window. To make matters worse, Customer Service was an absolute dead end: Phone Call #1: I spent time explaining the entire situation, was never given a ticket/case number, and was completely ghosted. Phone Call #2: I finally reached a "Car Audio Specialist" whose grand solution was telling me to buy another amp and pay to take it back to the exact same bay, or drive out to a location in Westminster--at zero discount, simply offering to "make the appointment" for me. My time is valuable. Setting up installers for failure on complex integration jobs--and then expecting the customer to foot the bill for forced hardware upgrades and waste time traveling around Orange County for zero compensation--is appalling customer service. While the Pioneer unit functions fine, the experience left a terrible taste in my mouth and completely destroyed my trust in Best Buy Autotech's management. This has been, by far, the absolute worst Geek Squad installation location I've ever encountered. I initially booked a dashcam with rear cam install, but later corrected it to a rearview mirror with a camera over the phone. I was assured the install times were the same. Upon arriving at my appointment, I was told otherwise. Adding to the frustration, the staff member assisting us persistently tried to dissuade us from installing the device. It was absurd and a complete waste of time. I had already prepaid for the service, so it seemed like the staff member was just trying to be lazy and free up the appointment time, which was already delayed due to their inconsistency. I just feel like it was not worth the amount I paid to be treated this way. Overall, I'm extremely underwhelmed with this location. I only booked here because no other locations were available soon. Going forward, I'll wait for my usual locations to have availability, as this one wasn't worth the drive at all. Don't waste your time here and book at another location. read more

I bought a washer and dryer with their "protection plan" (spoiler alert: it protects Best Buy, not you). When my washer broke, I scheduled service. A technician came out, looked around for about 120 seconds, and then hit me with the dramatic verdict: "BUG INFESTATION!" Two minutes. That's it. No inspection, no tools, no repair attempt just two minutes and an excuse that would make a kindergartener proud. If I sneezed during the visit, I would've missed the entire inspection. Here's the kicker: I pay a licensed pest control company every month to treat my home. They'll even write a notarized letter saying my house is cleaner than a five-star hotel. But apparently, Best Buy thinks I live in some Discovery Channel documentary about insect invasions. Their "warranty" might as well come with fine print that says: "Valid only on days when pigs fly, the moon turns green, and Mercury isn't in retrograde." What I learned: Best Buy doesn't sell protection. They sell imagination. They'll imagine bugs, floods, lightning strikes, or aliens landing in your laundry room just to deny your claim. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!! I bought an electric scooter for my son's 10th birthday for $100. He rode it four or five times and it started to smoke really bad and on the 14th day (the receipt says you have up until 15 days) I came back to this location where I bought it from to return it and the supervisor Michelle, very rudely did not approve my return and offered me the same scooter in exchange. Which is crazy because why would I want the same exact thing that just was about to blow up and possibly injure my son! She said that there was scuffs on the scooter. I explained to her that the scuffs do not matter when the battery was burnt and smoking everywhere the day before and then I need my money back because it's a faulty item that was sold to me and she still persisted on not giving me the return for over an hour. I had to stand there on the phone with corporate who ended up just telling me to go to another Best Buy which I did and I went 4 miles upthe road to Fullerton and imperial and returned it within two minutes with no problems no questions asked and they were very nice to me at that location this location definitely needs work and should be completely ashamed of themselves. They wasted three hours of my day!!!!!!!! there were several associates that were not nice to me at the store either nobody said sorry to me. I even went back and showed them that I got my money back and was barely even heard or appreciated at all. With always available parking and a clean store this Best Buy offers a nice environment to shop in. The customer service is hit and miss. Some are quite friendly while others are emotionless and robotic. Not sure if you can blame BestBuy for that tho as it's everywhere. The good part is the convenience of seeing and getting something immediately. The downside is that BestBuy has always been quite th car dealership... willing to sell you but a mix different experience to get support or repair. The price guarantee is wonderful when it works but big chains are clever to source unique models so it's never quite the same as a competitor. Overall I like them for now but won't be surprised when (not if) they go away. read more

I wanted to start this off by saying make sure you guys avoid the geek squad here for any automotive installations especially Brett. They are not adequately trained nor are they competent enough to figure out any minor differences in installation for your specific car. I bought an electronic rearview mirror for my truck, after waiting a week for an appointment I arrived 5 minutes earlier for my 11am appointment, I wasn't helped until around 1120 am by the supervisor Michelle that walked past me multiple times as a i stood there lost waiting for someone to help me with my appointment. I gave them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they were busy (although it didn't look like it), but things just get worse. I went to the service bay where I encountered Brett the service tech, in a very rude tone he immediately tells me that they can't install the camera on my truck? I obviously ask him why, and he very tiredly responded by saying that I already have a "factory camera", this makes absolutely no sense. My friend with the exact same truck as me is the one who told me to buy this rearview camera because he has the same one that he actually installed himself at home with relative ease. I believe that Brett was lazy and didn't want to do a job that would take him slightly longer than a normal installation. Instead of trying to be apologetic about the situation Brett kept trying to make me feel stupid by saying if I really wanted them to install it that they could only install the camera on the FRONT of the car for a REARVIEW MIRROR???? The things he was saying made absolutely no sense and were obviously out of pure laziness , it ended up escalating and words were exchanged between myself and Brett. Just as a reminder that I gave all my car info PRIOR to the appointment and they confirmed they could do the installing which was the main reason I bought the camera from Best Buy and not from Amazon for a cheaper price. If you wait ten minutes, you will be transferred to the foreign call center. Like I said, go ahead and try it. Neither the foreign call center nor the online chat people could tell me anything other than "your order is being prepared" and will be delivered today. The web page, on the other hand, says it's NOT available for same-day delivery, and they'll get around to shipping the order in a day or two. Out of frustration and an urgent need to get this item, I ordered from Amazon. The new problem is Best Buy will not let me cancel the order. Had a Pioneer radio installed at Best Buy for a Honda Fit I'm giving to my daughter. CarPlay and HD worked fine, but AM reception was poor--even strong stations like KFI 640. The tech said weak AM is common with aftermarket radios due to HD integration, which I also heard from another shop. But no real troubleshooting was offered--just an explanation. The radio was also initially left loosely mounted because hardware was "missing from the kit." To his credit, the tech fixed that on a follow-up visit. Still, AM reception was never resolved. I took the car to Metro Sound, and they immediately found and fixed an installation error. Now AM and FM work great. Appreciate Best Buy's effort, but I'd like to see more proactive problem-solving, especially when customers bring up safety-related concerns like emergency radio use. read more

I had an utterly disappointing experience at the Best Buy in Fullerton. Despite the store being nearly empty, none of the employees offered to help as I searched for an item listed as in stock online. I approached an associate, only to be told the item was in the back but that I needed to check out at the front. At checkout, I was informed I had to place an order for the item, even though I was told the item was physically in the store. I was also told it wouldn't be available for pickup until the next day because the designated pickup employee had already left. It was frustrating to see staff unwilling or unable to assist, especially with no other customers around. I ended up placing the order for pickup myself via the Best Buy app only to pick up at a different location, where it was ready for pickup within 10 minutes of the order being placed. Overall, the lack of initiative and customer care was extremely disappointing, especially since this is not the level of service Best Buy has prided itself in providing. The worst customer service ever! I will never shop at Best Buy again. I had an issue with an install and they couldn't troubleshoot the issue so we had to go somewhere else. Luckily , the second place we went to knew exactly what they were doing , our radio was installed within the hour no issues at all. They definitely need to train their staff better and if they can't hold up their end of the bargain with a radio installation, then don't offer it. Do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere. I came in with a very urgent problem and explained how I needed it done quickly in order to get my computer working so I can apply to grad school and show my portfolio for the application. He understood and said he would do everything he could to help me. Becky was the technician who worked on the pc in the beginning, calling me to let me know which options were best in order to fit my needs on how to fix the pc. Lastly Ahmed was able to explain everything that was done when the computer was picked up and asked if anything else was needed. I've come here multiple times and honestly a year ago I would've given a 1 or 2 star review. However I can tell that they have now hired people who not only know what they are doing, but are compassionate and understanding. I recently attempted to trade in my Pixel 7 at Best Buy for the Pixel 9a deal (I ordered online, and only need to give them my old phone and pick up the new one, 5 minutes max). I arrived at 8:30 PM, well within their posted trade-in hours of 10 AM to 9 PM. However, the employee at the door refused to assist me, stating they wouldn't do trade-ins at that time (May 7/2025 @8:30pm). She didn't ask me to leave, but she wouldn't process my trade-in. This was incredibly frustrating, as it directly contradicts the information on my order and Best Buy's general policy. I'm disappointed by the poor service and the inconvenience this caused. STORE 2514 - limited inventory, lots of empty shelves here. The products in stock are locked in cages, and while there are several workers standing around, they can't unlock the cages. You have to wait for the special worker with the key. GEEK SQUAD: Nathan installed a front and rear dash cam in my car. I provided a hardwire kit which includes four fuses, but only ONE fuse was needed for the install and the others were supposed to be returned to me. He kept the others and left the empty boxes in my car. Instead of replacing the fuse box cover under the dash, he dumped the cover in the center console. I was going to return the next day to confront Nathan, but I didn't because I didn't think he'd do better or admit to keeping my fuses. I used the Lakewood Geek Squad in April 2022 for dash cam install in my other car and that was a good experience. The Anaheim/Orange Fair Mall location is a mess. I've learned the Best Buy stores don't accept customer phone calls, and there's no email address for customer feedback. All calls go to a nationwide call center and they're reluctant to transfer callers to the local store. Even if you manage to get someone locally, they're clueless. Best Buy is supposedly closing more store locations in 2023. I wonder if store 2514 will be among them? read more

I rarely leave reviews, but I feel like this review is warranted. I went in with the intention of returning a gift. Full disclosure, I did not have the receipt. The first associate that "assisted" me named Matthew C. was very dismissive. Before I can give him any details, he suggested that I contact the 800 number. When I pushed a bit more why I couldn't return the gift for store credit, he made up some lies about they can return it, but it would be at 30-40% of the price. What kind of misinformation is that?? As I was leaving, I asked to speak to the manager (his name is also Matthew). When I notified him that I was intending to return this gift, he cut me off before I could finish and pointed me over to his associate Matthew C. I notified him that I had already spoken with Matthew but he was not able to assist me. Once he finally looked up from his computer screen, I gave him the details. He also provided misinformation stating that "We" don't provide no-receipt returns. I asked him "We" as in this location or Best Buy in general. He replied "Best Buy". He then backtracks then says that it's per each store's discretion. I ended up going to another local Best Buy. Gave them the same information. The provided me with store credit via no-receipt return. TLDR: Don't go here. It appears that passing the buck and misinformation starts from the top to the bottom; from the manager down to the associates. Went there to buy a SSD that their website says is in stock. Do not see it in shelf. Decided to buy what is there. Instead of having merchandise on shelf, they only had tickets for the device on shelf that need to be taken to the checkout counter to get the item. Then I got to the checkout, I am told the item is not in stock. Why have a ticket for an item that is not in stock, making me waste my time waiting in line? Then I ask for another item that is in stock. I am told there is only one in stock, but the clerk is unable to find it in a large pile in storage. Then what is the point of having it is stock? Got the email saying order was ready for pick up at 930AM. Then at 3PM it was cancelled. I didn't see this email, got to the store and they said my order isn't there and it was cancelled. Definitely avoid this Best Buy if you can. I've purchased something online and no longer needed as a test to various different Best Buy to see if they differ from one another: and they absolutely do. In this particular case, regarding returns from a BestBuy.com order. I've purchased 2 RTX 4090 computer graphics cards and returned one at Glendora, CA without any issues. The cashier checked it out, and verified the serial number matched up, and proceeded with my return. Going to Fullerton is a completely different experience. First, they had me in the Geek Squad line to have the card checked out. Fine, no problem. Then the tech discussed with the (what I assumed to be the store manager) that returns are to be completed at the register not Geek Squad. Then the tech told the manager that it'll be a while, since Geek Squad is backed up. So they told me, it's not going to be anytime soon, so sit tight and strap up! Obviously someone is having a bad day at my expense (wasting my time). I understand if you don't want to be "scammed" and this is not a cheap item. But what this tells me is that they do not have competent employees to see if the product is correct or not, and at the end, the customer will have to pay. "You can come back later!" Is what the manager on the end told me as I am heading out, disappointed at something that should take 5-10 minutes. The cashier line was empty at this time too. I'll give them 2 stars: 1 for being open and adhering to basic Best Buy Policy. Another star for not having any issues when you purchase products (they're not trying to scam you). But these are the very basic points that any company who tries to survive in this world should achieve. Reading through the entire "Returns and Exchanges" policies listed on the website, no where does it say GPU's require Geek Squad for review, as the manager has told me. Person on chat gave me a number to call to activate my giftcard. I called the number and the person on the line told me it was for bestbuy giftcards to be activated only not any other giftcard. She directed me to call the back on the giftcard. I let her know they would direct me back to bestbuy since they are the ones that did not activate the card. I used to come to this location all the time back in my early College days just to browse and hang out with friends but I came here most recently last week for the first time since the early 2010s and boy, was it a subpar experience! I stopped by on a weekday around 4 PM to get a gift card and the line was extremely long. Even due to the holiday shoppers, there were only two registers open at the time I got in line. They finally got the memo and opened up another register but that didn't help at all either. After about 20 minutes of waiting, it was my turn, paid for my card, and was out the door. They don't seem understaffed either because there were so many employees just talking amongst each other instead of helping paying customers. This establishment has gone way downhill since their initial opening. The only plus side was that the lady at my register was nice, unlike the other two gentlemen that were working nearby. read more
