D.H had a situation here tonight. The sales associate refused to sell D.H a phone because she said it would take too long to activate and she wanted to go home. (We were next in her line at the booth as she helped the guys in front of us) SHE LIED. What she DIDN'T know is...my DH was an Ops Mgr for Best Buy for years AND also worked for our carrier so he knows EXACTLY how long it ACTUALLY takes to do an activation. He also said he'd activate it later, he just wanted to purchase it and she still refused. D.H was aggravated to say the least. The manger Dell, took care of the him after DH was informed. He didn't tell Dell about his background, just info about the situation and he resolved it in 2 minutes. Ok...this place. There is ALMOST. ALWAYS. AN ISSUE. HERE. Could you hear me clap my hands as I typed this? You were probably clapping too. You know how hard it is to clap while you type? Keeping this on online pickup, & Geek Squad - the most customer-oriented services they "offer." I've picked up orders plenty, & almost every time, the "workers" much rather crack jokes among themselves, glare at customers, or stare blankly at you as you (wait) to present your ID to pick up your purchases. You just have to laugh at the incompetence sometimes. The "professionalism" is just...gross. It doesn't even feel like a business. One of the main "workers" there "greets" you with a bored, unengaged "wassup." Again, you just have to laugh at the incompetence sometimes. Most recently came to Geek Squad to pick up a laptop from repairs. Once the worker woke up from his 4th nap on shift, he approached. Upon receiving what used to be a near brand new laptop back from him, I immediately saw that it had 2 NOTICIBLE FRESH ASS DENTS on each side. How is it possible to submit something for one issue, then receive it back in worst physical condition than it was when you first submitted it? I'm not laughing at the incompetence this time. I asked what happened, & he kind of shrugged & said sorry. So I asked if they were fixing it or playing football with it. After looking it up, he claimed it was subjected to "cosmetic damage," & that they can't be held responsible - despite THEM CAUSING THE DAMAGE. I'll never rank this place higher. Ordered something online with same-day delivery, and the courier was dispatched and told that the item is not ready for pickup, and they did not plan to get it ready for pickup while she was there (this is an item that's stocked in the store and just needed to be bagged and handed to them). Then, the item got stuck in limbo, where orders go to die. Every day for the next 3 weeks the order said it was out for delivery, but best buy's customer service nor the courier could confirm that it would be delivered. Best Buy refused to cancel the order or refund me until I got really loud with a phone agent 3 weeks later. Horrible experience. read more

This review is for the Geek Squad service at Best Buy, which ended up being way less than helpful than what they claimed they would be. My mother recently has been having a cooling issue with her LG refrigerator for almost 2 weeks. She looked to Geek Squad a few days ago as they have on their page that fix all refrigerators including LG. Was told by Geek Squad to my mother that they would service her refrigerator on the 29th and also gave signed her up for membership if she needed repair service for other appliances. The same day the refrigerator was to be repaired a member of Geek Squad called my mother letting her know they wouldn't be showing up because there was some sort of miscommunication between the repair person and Geek Squad. Geek Squad had rescheduled the repair service for today the 30th but then called today stating that a repair person wouldn't be servicing the refrigerator giving my mother the run around , despite my mother giving them payment for the service. My mother is now in the process of speaking to whoever is in charge at Geek Squad to see what the exact issue is between them and the contractor/repair person that was suppose to come to fix the refrigerator. Either way very bad communication which still relates to service with Geek Squad. read more

This is not about Best Buy itself, this is about the geek squad. I took my sons 5 month old IPhone there for battery replacement which is covered under the mfg warranty. i made an appointment and was called on time. that is the ONLY thing that went as it should. After about 45 minutes, a representative comes out and tells me that we need a new phone because the battery skin has split, the battery is cracked and it is leaking anti-freeze. I know IPhones sometimes have battery issues so I said I understood and was told to just wait until they could get my paperwork done and they would set me up with a new phone. That's when a different representative came out and told me that the I was not covered by my mfg warranty because this type of damage is from being dropped. I was stunned... I asked the representative to show me the external damage that would have to be visible for me to drop the phone with such force that the battery would rupture and begin to leak and he told me that there wouldn't necessarily be external damage for this to happen from a drop. Of course, at this point I know he has no idea what he is talking about and I ask for my phone back, which he is reluctant to give me because he says it is hazardous. After a not very pleasant exchange, I got my phone back and went to the Apple store. Although I had to wait for 2 hours because I didn't have an appointment, once I was seated, I had a new phone, which i am entitled to under the warranty and all my data transferred from the old phone. The entire in store experience took about 20 minutes. I asked the Apple Store tech if there was anyway possible I could drop my phone with enough force to break the battery without causing any external damage and he said ABSOLUTELY NOT. The battery is in a protected skin in the phone. He also made a very good point that if the batteries were that delicate - they would sell very many IPhones. He told me one of two things happened here. 1) The battery was defective, which DOES happen. 2) The rep at the Geek Squad damaged my battery either accidentally, or to try to sell me a new phone. In short, this was a terrible experience in a poorly run store, with employees who clearly don't know what they are doing and I will NEVER go back. read more

The Best Buy corporation has no concept of customer service, they are practicing a style of customer service that most companies abandoned in the 1930's. I purchased an insignia 18 cu foot top freezer Refrigerator that was delivered during March 2020. I called the week it was delivered for service since the refrigerator door would not close and I was using duct tape to close the refrigerator door. They offered to deliver a new fridge to the sidewalk IF I carried the malfunctioning fridge out to the curb. I declined that offer. I started seeing advertisements that they were doing house calls again, so I called 4 different times and each time I was told due to my zip code and the high prevalence of Covid 19 in my area they could not service me. December 2020, they scheduled an appointment to send a repair guy in January. He said I needed a new gasket & hinge for fridge door. They scheduled 3 different appointments to come do the repair and each night before I CALLED THEM to confirm, each time guaranteeing they were coming even thou I had not received the hinge. Each of the 3 scheduled repair days they would call at approximately noon to cancel my 7am -1pm appointment since the repair guy did not have the hinge Best Buy told me he had. On March 25, 2021 they finally agreed to send me a new fridge. Unfortunately, they wouldn't have any available till May 14, 2021 and suggested I upgrade to a different unit and pay the difference. I declined and had to wait 2 MONTHS for their delivery even thou you could go to BEST BUY website and have next day delivery. Today the "new" fridge was delivered and my ice maker was carried out by the delivery guys whom I was told removing it & installing it in new fridge. I informed them to bring the old fridge back with the ice maker till BEST BUY straightened this out. They then removed the ice maker and brought me 4 pieces & 4 screws to reinstall it myself. I then called BEST BUY spent 2 1/2 hours on the phone and was finally told they can not do or file anything till tomorrow at the earliest since their computer says the fridge is still in transit. I hang up the phone and start to put my food in and find the plastic gallon shelf on the door is cracked through. I'm an Elite Plus member of BEST BUY and I can get no assistance from them. This INSIGNIA fridge has had me take 5 days off, make close to a dozen calls lasting over 4 hours each and I still have a BROKEN INSIGNIA FRIDGE. BEST BUY has only one phone number so even thou they transfer you 27 times to call back you call the same number explain everything that has gone on and if the phone rep is so inclined they will transfer you to the department of their choice. Most of my phone calls end with the assurance they will call me back, NOT ONCE HAVE THEY EVER CALLED ME BACK! BEST BUY is giving anybody with a problem or issue with any product the run around hoping you will give up @ keep your broken item! In discussing with friends it appears everyone shops there till they had an issue with their purchase, and they end up so infuriated they never return to Best Buy. On my part I WILL NEVER buy INSIGNIA and I will NEVER SHOP AT BEST BUY AGAIN! 15 months later still sitting with a broken fridge getting the run around from WORST BUY! read more

I feel like I'm only in Best Buy once every few years. Electronics can last a while so I think the last time I was here was for a TV a few years back. They pick up location(for store pick up orders) is off to the right when you walk in. Check out is to the left. Typical Best Buy as far as what you can get. Decently stock because it's decent sized. TV's, Computers, Appliances, Tablets, Phones, etc. I didn't need help but there were plenty of staff roaming around on a Monday night. I ended up buying a plastic hard "shield" for an MacBook Air. I came here last Sunday July 29th and left with a horrible taste in my mouth. I went with my grandmother and mother, this was my grandmothers 4th time at the store. She was so upset with the service she felt like getting her money and walking out !! The store could only give her a store credit... When we spoke to the manager Chad he seemed not to really care about fixing the issue. He placed us with Cyn who had one of the worst attitudes. I had to jump in to help because with her attitude from jump I saw her and my mother butting heads. She was not very helpful plus we had to go all the way to kings plaza to pick up the tv. I've never had a problem at this location whether it was purchasing or returning. We came here on Christmas Eve Eve (lol) to buy an Xbox One. Though it did take a little while to get someone to get an Xbox so we can pay for it, it was expected because there were a lot of people in the store trying to buy gifts. My mom flagged down an associate named Mike (I hope it's Mike, well he has braids!) and he went to the back to get the Xbox that I wanted. We were waiting on line when he waved us over and brought us to a shorter line in a different section. Very thankful for that! I purchased a phone for curbside pickup. Employees not knowing that I was a secret shopper lied about how they proceeded to state that they came out three times to deliver my phone and that was not true. They text that they could not find me to put my hazard lights on. I did and because I was about 10 spots in (the other parking spots were handicap) they did not feel like delivering box to me. I had to park unsafely and had to go into the store and spoke to the very nasty person watching the cameras, telling me look you were here and then you moved here. And? was my response, where is the employee coming out 3 times? He just told me in a very nasty manner to go to pick up location (defeating ordering for no contact delivery). Mind you, my text were @ 9:42 am and the store does not open until 10:00 am. I will report them to corporate and they need to be nicer to customera and Best Buy requires curbside special parking or do not offer this service to customers. I prefer the Best Buy's that are at the UES and Mid-town better than this location, but if you're already there at the mall...it is definitely nice to have them here. Because it is located in a shopping center (Gateway Center/Mall to be exact), it has a lot of space to utilize, more-so than the Manhattan locations. They don't always have some of the popular products in stock around holiday times (for obvious reasons), but they do have a large variety of options and good space to maneuver around and shop. Some of the staff is more knowledgeable than others (which can be expected), but some of the staff doesn't even know where some parts of their store sections are (for example, where you can find a certain product type). It can at times be a little hard finding someone to help you if you need it as well. Overall, the guy in me loves to stare at the huge selection of electronics here, and their space allows you to see various products side-by-side with ease. This can make purchasing say a TV easier, when you have multiple options right in front of you in optimal viewing distance (so you can gauge how it would look in your home). In short: if you're already here...it's nice to have a Best Buy here (as opposed to the Circuit City that used to be here), but if you have options, then head into Manhattan and shop there (or online). read more

Hands down, this is the best Best Buy I've ever been in. I went here at the recommendation of my girlfriend who lives nearby. I went to at least 10 different stores, looking for a laptop (obviously to yelp! on). Every time I was left with a sour taste in my mouth. There was one Best Buy in Valley Stream where a kid questioned my intelligence for wanting to get a Samsung laptop. I was about to just newegg a new laptop when I was strong armed to go. I'm glad I did. The salesmen were very professional and asked me about my needs before recommending a product. Turns out, he recommended the Samsung laptop that I wanted without me saying a brand or looking at a laptop. He mentioned that they can get hot (it does at times) and suggested a cooling mat with dual fans that was very affordable. The next time I went back there, the same salesman was there and asked me how I liked the Samsung laptop. I was floored that he remembered my from an interaction over 4 months ago. Needless to say, I prefer this Best Buy over others. The distance from my place makes it a bit of a trek, but when I'm on the south shore and looking for something that a Best Buy would have, I go here. By the way... I love the laptop he recommended. On Monday 10/8/18 I went into the gateway Brooklyn store, to buy a WiFi Extender. Before I reached the section where the extensors were shelved , my eye caught another item on the shelf. I reviewed the item and read the packaging. It was a Arlo 2 pro camera listed on the shelf at 24.99 along with 6 other pcs. of the same. I found a store associate and asked a few questions about the product. I was satisfied with his answerers. I decided to take it. He then directed me to the extenders. Where I had more questions. Again he did a fabulous job at product knowledge. This is where the story goes awry. To my surprise i found out that the camera was way more expensive then the price on the shelf stated. I ask to speak to the manager because I wanted the item for the price that it was listed on the shelf. He refused to do it. I stood there and debated with him ,my consumer right. I was entitled to the item that it was listed on the shelf as. I can understand if it was the only one on the shelf. Then One can say a customer put it there by mistake. No problem, But it was 6 pcs of the same item on this shelf. An associates came along and took the items off of the shelf. As I'm discussing my finding with the manager, . I ask for the District Manager's name and number to the District office. Since I was getting nowhere with him. He gave me her name but not her number. I ask for the Regional offices. He had no idea to who the Regional was????. At this point I'm appalled at the lack of customer care, I'm frustrated at the lack of knowledge of the store managers knowledge of the hierarchy of the company he works for. And I was floored at his attitude to trying to brush me aside. Until I got angry and started to raise my voice,then his attitude changed. He at that point connected me to customer care support Dept. I told her my story. She agreed with me. She spoke with him. Over the phone, he of himself agreed to what I was saying " what ....now I'm confused " the manager told the support associates over the phone that he couldn't override. She then transferred me to a department that couldn't help me at all. And referred me back to the first Dept. that first transferred me. At this point my Patience level is off the charts. I'm total done at the store, and company. They failed to do their jobs on many levels, 1.When putting out merchandise, they are to ensure its signed correctly so that there's no confusion to the customer, if this small detail is not done properly then the customer can say it is false advertisement. 2. When it's in error to the store the customer benefits and then company Apologies to the customer for the mistake. 3. The customer is always right. I can go on but....... Best buy is full of ! So 2 weeks ago I go in an buy a new dishwasher. They tell me it will be delivered between 7am and 1pm a week later. The next day after purchase I get an email saying they gotta reschedule. I reschedule and 2 days after that I get another email asking to reschedule. I go to the store and tell them I need to find out what's going on because I need my appliance. The store clerk looks at the account and says the dishwasher is out of stock and cannot be delivered until December. I say the hell with that cancel and sell me a different one that is in stock. We do that and the delivery date is the following Monday 7am to 1pm. So I stay home and wait all day. At 2pm I call best buy and ask why the delivery did not come. They tell me the driver is running 2 hours late. So now I'm pissed I go to best buy to cancel and the manager with a nasty attitude tells me she can't cancel until the dishwasher is back at the warehouse because its currently out for delivery. I scream at her that the delivery did not come. I then call the service and they cancel it for me. Now I have to wait sover 24 hours to get my money back. Went o PC Richard's and got the dishwasher I originally wanted. They called me the next day to give me a delivery status. And will email me to give me a 3 hour window for delivery. I came here on Satuday (12/19/2015) to make an exchange. Unbeknownst to me I had mistakenly ordered the wrong band size for my boyfriend's I- watch. Immediately after realizing, I berated myself because I absolutely hate to go anywhere near the malls so close to the holiday season. I mean the parking sucks, the lines are long, and the people can be a little mean. However, I had no choice. I wanted to make sure my boyfriend had a nice Christmas and the only way to do that was to get him the right band size. It appeared as though fate was on my side as right away I found parking in FRONT of the Best Buy!WHAT????!! "Okay maybe this won't be so bad" I thought to myself as I exited my car. However, that feeling lasted for a spilt second as I entered into the store and saw what can only be described as "chaos." ...Seriously there were ppl everywhere! I thought to myself, "I am never going to find anything" or so I thought... Enter Jermaine, the Angel from Best Buy. Like the savior he was, he immediately approached me and asked how he could help? And boy did he help!! Thanks to him I was able to get all the information I need to make the switch. Unfortunately, while this location didn't have the watch in stock, Jermaine was nice enough to call ahead to find what stores had the correct band size and color for me and give me the directions. I happily trotted off to the next Best Buy and got the correct watch I needed! I couldn't have done it without him and now my boyfriend will have a pretty epic Christmas.. Thanks again Jermaine.
