Absolutely the worst service I've ever experienced. I paid $150 for Geek Squad to do a simple hookup of additional monitors. The tech came out on 8/15, couldn't fix it. Came back 8/16, still couldn't fix it. He promised he'd return on 8/22 with someone from the computer department to finally resolve the issue. Not only did he never show up, but he had the nerve to mark my ticket as "completed." I confirmed directly with Alexander by text that he would be here, and he just didn't come. When I called Geek Squad to figure out what was going on, I wasted more than three hours being bounced around to overseas call centers where no one had the slightest idea how to handle my concern. The end result? Because the ticket was marked as completed, they refused to give me a refund. So now I'm out $150 for absolutely nothing. This is a scam, plain and simple. The lack of accountability, the lies from the tech, and the refusal to refund money for a service never performed are completely unacceptable. Geek Squad used to have a decent reputation, but based on my experience, they're dishonest, incompetent, and not worth a single dollar. Remote geek squad was on my computer for two hours, two different people, one a "second tier" technician. I was having trouble downloading drivers for the new Brother printer I bought from them. They finally told me my internet connection was too slow and that's why there was a problem. You'll have to have an in home technician, he said. I was told by an Insignia Manufacturer employee, that the TV has an internal issue with black/screen defect that Insignia is aware of that can supposedly be fixed - that's where Geek Squad comes in. Don't waste your time off from work or energy trying to dispute having your TV replaced (carries a 1 yr warranty from purchase date), and was just months old, because the "Internal" issue will be deemed by Best Buy Geeks and the Manufacturer as physical damage voiding the warranty as if I DARE buy another INSIGNIA brand ANYTHING in it's place! I was about to leave 2 stars, but on the Best Buy page, it won't even accept any more reviews. I guess they have reviews that are topped out on there and they do not want to see it go down. My 1-star review is based on: 1. I took my computer in 3 times for the same issue and they were never able to rectify the issue (computer fails on start-up repeatedly) - they claim it would not do it for them (that it started every time), but at my home, using different outlets and with and without power cords, it kept failing. 2. Their website does not allow you to either cancel "auto renew" or cancel. There is a link to cancel, but once you jump through those hoops, it MAKES you contact them to finish. They purposely make it as inconvenient as possible to cancel. so, was I pissed when I wrote this? I purchased a washer and dryer combo with installation services and when the installation crew arrived with the products, the dryer was damaged, with some dents. I was told by the crew leader that I could send it back right away or install it and then Best Buy would contact me to either offer a discount / refund or a replacement. They did contact me later on the same day and offered me these 2 options. I chose the refund as the dryer was working properly and I didn't want to go through the trouble of another installation. For my surprise, the refund never came and after numerous calls to Best Buy, they're telling me they can only offer me a gift card, which forces me to spend more money at Best Buy and is not at all what was promised to me. The whole experience was going great until I realized the refund was pure bullshit. I like the store, but if you're ever offered a refund for similar issues, don't fall for it, it's a big scam. read more

Wow this store is a joke the whole repairs same day advertised is a scam! I came by on Wednesday to have my phone repaired I need an appointment. I make an appointment for Sunday at 520 and then Sunday I am told oh sorry for phones you have to drop off at 440 to get it worked on and completed same day! Really! I explain to them I left a job that I was getting paid quite well to make this happen and they are telling me too bad. Finally after arguing with the manager they tell me let's run a diagnostic. After the diagnostic they said well you need the screen and the battery as well. I said ok. Let's fix it they have the parts they say sorry can't do both same day, we only Guarantee screen repairs same day! I said I don't see that on the sign the said it is online. Ok so I again argue with the manager telling him this is unacceptable and what are we going to do to make it right he says the longer I argue with you the less likely it gets done today. I said you haven't gotten anything done today! So finally they came through staying late and fixing my phone! That is at least a silver lining. Unfortunately from what i overheard while waiting on my phone is several disgruntled customers. Now, the people we did deal with were friendly and really tried to be helpful; I have nothing at all against the employees. It's that the concept of the Geek Squad - a group of computer experts who can diagnose and repair with ease - is totally lost on Best Buy. These are just people manning a desk. Best advice we received over the phone? Turn the computer off and then on again. In person, they were slightly more helpful, reinstalling some software after a refresh of the PC. This, though, after we explained that the first time this software was installed no one handed us our disks, product keys, security codes, nothing. Big mistake. And no apology or remedy. In the end, we got the issue handled - mostly - but just know that going to the Geek Squad is like asking your neighbor for help. read more

Ok, not the location or reps' fault, but the recovery was WAAAAY over-priced. I called their contracted Recovery Service directly and they were able to quote the exact work order for over $500 cheaper. I figured I should just finish what I started and chop it up as a loss considering they DID recover 95% of the total data and 100% (so far) of what I wanted most. OH! Also Geek Squad's Recovery Department Reps - not so great! Half the time they don't pick up (solution: hang up, right call back - they'll pick up) and they don't punctually follow up when they say they will, nor do they communicate with each other because I got two call from them regarding the same update from different reps. Never go here for any Apple product repairs. They were supposed to repair the camera on my iPhone 6 Plus and ended up permanently breaking my phone. After spending 2 hours last night and another 5 hours at the store today they told me to just call Apple support and see what they can do. They destroyed my property and refused to reimburse or replace my device. I think that says a lot about their customer care. When you have all your employees working for commission, customer care is extremely poor. I ended up having to drive an hour to the nearest Apple Store where they analyzed my device and found that it was put together so poorly that they felt bad and were thankfully able to replace my device there. Worst experience ever! My computer wouldn't turn on recently. We went to Geek Squad thinking they could help or at least do a diagnostic battery test. NOTHING! They said they couldn't do anything for it because it wouldn't turn on? You mean to tell me that you can't pop open the back and take out a battery and then plug it in without the battery and see if it turns on? I say this because later I looked on the internet to see how EASY it was to do myself! I consulted outside mom and pop places. Paid $200 for geek squad to bash up my computer and hand it back to me unfixed and mis diagnosed. Now I have hours of labor to do to fix what they've broken. I handed in my $2000 brand new computer to geek squad. First off I took a few weeks troubleshooting by buying parts, swapping them out, and seeing if the part fixed the pc. I already troubleshooted the pc a bit and there was only a handful of things left that could be wrong but I didn't have the tools or patience left to check. I brought it into geek squad and apparently the things I told them to check were the only things they couldn't check for. I get a call a few days after giving them my pc saying my pc was ready for pickup and then is when they told me they couldn't check what I wanted them to and also told me it might be things that I already replaced and 100% knew weren't wrong. I proceeded to take my pc back and noticed a lot of scratches and indents on my brand new case. I got really annoyed, they took pictures and ordered me a new case. I then took home my unfixed and mid diagnosed pc with one last part I bought that I wanted to swap. Voila, within 10 min of me getting my computer home I fixed it immediately cuz I stopped just a second too short when swapping items. I waited about 3 weeks for a replacement of my case and asked for a refund for geek squad. The manager told me that the computer was "fixed" and she ordered the case even though there was no "proof" they scratched it. I then told her it was a brand new case and literally every John who walked around my pc complimented it and that the "diagnosis" they were supposed to give me to was wrong even when they gave me 4 different answers to what MIGHT be wrong with it and they were still HORRIBLY wrong. The manager then proceeded to come back with "well I've never done a refund for it so I can't do that". And there's that. That was my experience with geek squad. Spent $200 to have the enjoyment of spending hours swapping my pc into the new case I handed them my broken pc, was handed it back unfixed and undiagnosed except with a bunch of bashes and scratches in it. Then had to wait for a replacement case so now I get to swap my entire pc into a new case that'll probably take me a couple hours to swap so that's always fun. 100% do not recommend if you know anything about computers. Just struggle for a bit and fix it yourself. 95% of the geek squad people are useless and maybe 1 or 2 of them know what they're doing. Also just a side note is that there is NO Requirements for people to work in geek squad, it's just monkeys bashing computers seeing which wire is which. Most of the work done when I was there I had to do for them... I highly recommend looking for a local computer repair shop or anywhere else that actually knows what they're doing. read more

I took my Asus laptop that I purchased at this store in August 2011 to geek squad to repair a wireless card issue I have been having for a few weeks. First, they try to sell me a $200 service package without giving me the diagnosis that is covered by warranty. Once I tell them I will not pay for it they give in and take it in for diagnosis. They call me four days later to tell me there is nothing wrong with my computer. They obviously did nothing to actually try to make the problem occur because when I went in and turned the computer on in front of them I had the problem immediately. So they try to sell me the $200 package again. Yet, they have no idea what is wrong and can't tell me how the package is going to solve my problem. Finally, they agree to send it off for warranty work. They call me two weeks later and again tell me there is nothing wrong with my computer and that it works for them in the store. I go there, turn the computer on again, and not only does the wireless not work, they've removed the drivers so there is no way it could have been working for them. I will never buy anything from Best Buy again and there is no way I will ever go to the incompetent people at geek squad. I wasted three weeks of my life with these idiots and got nowhere!!!! Do not buy their service package and hire a local computer repair man if you want things done right and professionally. My experience was a joke. read more

I wish I could rate the Geek Squad less than one star. I have tried to use them twice. First time I needed to replace the screen on an older Toshiba laptop. Took it to the Best Buy store and Geek Squad quoted me $550 to replace the broken LCD screen. I bought a replacement screen online and found instructions also online and did it myself for under $50. Took me less than thirty minutes. Next, recently, I bought a new 46" Samsung LED television from them. I requested a quote from Geek Squad to remove my old 46" off the wall and place the new one on the wall. They wanted $110 to take the old television down, $110 to put the new television up (on an existing mount) and another $125 to "connect the components." I explained connecting the components on mine set up consisted of plugging the HDMI cable into the back of the TV. Didn't matter. They wanted $125 to plug that one cable in. So the total cost was going to be over $345. I called a local installation service that charge $25 to take the old TV down (and they carried to my storage area for free), $60 to place the new TV on the wall mount and I paid them another $50 to put in a new electrical outlet behind the television so we have no wires hanging. Even bought an extra HDMI cable from them for the DVD player. So I wound up getting more service than the Geek Squad was offering for less than half the money. And the installation looks great. I will never even bother with a quote from these guys again. read more

I bought a new computer and was convinced that the Geek Squad services would make the transfer of data easier and they'd be available to me if I needed assistance so I put out the hundreds of dollars for said services. Picked up my computer Sunday morning and asked if it was indeed plug-in ready and the Geek said yes. Got it home, plugged it in and couldn't find any files that were supposedly transferred. Called the store and before I could even ask where to look for the files was told to bring the PC into the store(30 miles from home and I just left there). Called the 800 number and was told by the young lady that she was in South Florida and she couldn't help me. Called again and again trying to find someone just to tell me where to look for the files but was never permitted to finish the question--even by the manager. Everyone just said "Bring it in". That was not what I was promisedl so after five days I took the computer back and expected a full refund. They withheld more than $200 and I still don't know what they did to earn that. I complained to the State, my credit card company and BBB. Today Best Buy called and offered me a "one-time special deal of another $100 refund". Of course I refused. I got nothing for the money I spent for the Squad services so why would they expect me to leave any of my money on the table. Beware of The Geek Squad. I am beginning to think they are appropriately named but perhaps even better would be "Cheat Squad". read more
