Just picked up my Switch 2 from the line. I was lucky to have gotten it by preorder and I was thankful and willing to wait in the preorder line even if it took my waiting almost 2 hours - 1 from waiting before 11 pm and another hour for purchase. But an unruly preorder customer was giving the employees shit and being mean to her. I've been coming here for 20 years. Prices are hit or miss, customer service used to be ok and much hasnt changed. Which is why the store is probably empty all the time. Went in to buy a dyson heater...they couldn't price match it from bestbuys price of 299 to dysons price of 279. Guy at the counter said they don't match manufacturer prices. No worries, just ordered from another retailer instead that did price match. To be honest, Best Buy feels eerie to me in the same way as a Toys R Us or a Blockbuster. You know - places of our past that were totally normal and poppin, and now are nonexistent. Except somehow, Best Buy continues to persevere. And every time I go there (which is never more than twice a year), I can't help but wonder how. But maybe in the case of the Skokie Best Buy, it could be due to the wonderful customer service given by supervisor Thomas! I went in feeling nervous (what can I say, making big purchases and new technology in general stress me out), hoping to trade in my older computer for a newer model. Thomas and Baha helped me out and they made the process easy as pie. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes, they helped wipe my old device, and set me up with a better value for my trade in than Apple offered! I also called the Chicago Best Buy this afternoon and was on hold for 15 minutes before I gave up and hung up. But the Skokie location answered in less than 2 minutes and were friendly and able to answer all my questions, which is why I chose to go a bit farther to this location. I did give it 4 stars instead of 5 because there were 3 sales folks standing around chatting by the phones, but nobody to be found in computers, so I had to go and ask for an associate. Not a big deal though and they showed up right away after I asked! I feel like I got a great deal and everyone was so kind and helpful. If I need to go back to a Best Buy, I will go out of my way to come to the Skokie location! read more

If I could over 100% out of 100%, it would be applicable here. In a nutshell, I ordered an AppleTV as a gift back on March 8th saying it would be delivered to me the same day. Great! Well fast forward 4 days later, it says there is a delay in the shipment. I call CS and was told it cannot be fulfilled due to lack of inventory. Well that stinks but ok i'll go to the Skokie location. So I have them switch to a curbside pickup then I wait and wait and wait for the store to confirm I can pick up the item. I call CS and was told it's actually not going to be in stock until a week later. Fine i'll wait but i'm annoyed I have to call CS to find this out. The date passes and still no confirmation from the store to pick it up. So a day after I was told it would be in the store, I call CS again to switch to ship to home which was ready to ship the next day. Great! So what happens? Of course the order is delayed. So I call CS again to see what's up and to see if they could call this location or Northbrook since it shows on their website "available for pick up in 1-hour". I ask them to call since you cannot call the store directly. I was ready to be put on the hold so she can call the store to "confirm" they have them in stock. Of course neither don't and won't until a week later. At this point, I cancel my order and go to Amz and it's confirmed i'll get it tomorrow. These are a dying breed of Brick and Mortar electronic retailers due to crap CS and inventory software issues. Then you wonder why these electronic retailers go under. But I have to say, there appears to be a culture of disengagement based on my own experience and the reviews of others. An employee helped us locate the router we were looking for but appeared to be quick to walk away while we were asking a few follow-up questions. When asking another employee who was on her cell phone, her demeanor and response had a hint of not wanting to be bothered. Almost borderline annoyed, to be honest. As we went to check out, we had to wait for someone to come to the register. Spent the last 10 days trying to get my best buy account merged because I was told I have four different accounts and they are now all locked. I keep calling and getting their call center in india and manilla and it goes no where. I have been told the account need to be merged and it takes up to 96 hours and still nothing happens. I call back and start all over and on and on it goes. I spent over an hour at my local store with the store manager and his tech person and still no where. It's hit or miss who you get here. Sometimes the checkout cashiers are friendly, most of the time they aren't. Many of the sales floor employees only see you as a $$& target of how much can they get you to spend... I've had some of them walk away when I said I'm not buying today, but I had questions to educate myself about a future purchase. They will always try to sell me a $3-5k sound system and/or a $2-3k TV despite being able to get something for 50% of the price (on sale, Black Friday or coupon). They will also talk in paragraphs, because they're the "expert" (you can just read the specs on the wall or online) and not allow you to ask questions, talk down to you as if you're dumb since you don't know their job better than them, as well as interrupting you numerous times while speaking. Why would I want to spend money at a place that doesn't value me? This isn't a rhetorical question, either. Every Amiibo I have purchased from here is dinged, dented, and damaged and I just get an "oh well sorry nothing we can do". Lastly, Best Buy, as a company, had gotten worse. They have gotten rid of their Elite and Elite Plus free tiers and are forcing you to buy a $200 annual membership. In store they say call corporate, over the phone the customer service reps say it's above them, and everyone plays the scapegoat game and takes no responsibility. Save your money, especially with inflation right now, and let this business go the way of Circuit City. read more

I had a few appliance questions which I wanted to discuss with a manager. I was told the managers were too busy in a meeting and unavailable. I asked if the store's General Manager was tied up as well, and he said "Kim" was in, but the GM doesn't meet with customers. This sounded strange, so I asked him to please let Kim know I'd like to talk with him anyway. He left and returned a few minutes later to inform me that Kim instructed him to tell me he was too busy. It was still under 1yr manufacturer warranty and it had a extra Warranty and they refused to exchange; even with the Extended Warranty they would Not replace. I was helped by Josue in the customer service area and couldn't be happier. He was courteous and knowledgeable knowing exactly what was wrong with my laptop. He was event nice enough to give me some tips to make sure my laptop would keep running smoothly. I'm highly appreciative of his excellent customer service and down to earth explanations. I just want to say the Samsung rep Thes (his name) was absolutely wonderful. He was so helpful and generous with his time. He helped me immensely. I didn't have enough storage left on my phone. He sat with me and transferred over 1300 photo's to free up space. He also ran a diagnostic test on my phone. I first went to my phone carrier T-Mobile and they were not very helpful. This review is for the Best Buy in the HIP mall in Norridge, IL. My complaint is about a nasty manager named. Steve. This man should get fired! My Hubby & I have shopped here for many years. We spent alot of $$$ on electronics, tvs, appliances etc. We went here yesterday to purchase maybe a new phone We were shocked to see the store was empty like a ghost town! I think there was only 2 employees & they were with customers. We waited around 15 min. & finally asked the manager if we can get some help. He became so rude to Gerry! He told him you stand there by this stupid marker to wait for service. So, Gerry told him you don't have to be rude. This idiot then told him wait or you can leave! So Gerry told him maybe we got off on the wrong start? This fool proceeded to accuse us of swearing at him & said he would tell the 2 employees not to help us. It was terrible. This store used to have great service but not any more which explains why this once thriving store is empty. We never had any trouble with the much better competition they have from stores such a Xfinity, T-Mobil etc. Best Buy will become obsolete. We belong to the Geek Squad there & that service is great. Wow, my experience amounts to a 'lithe of lies' from start to finish over something very trivial, but I need to report this so we can all see how disconnected this store is with corporate and call centers. I went in to buy 4 Simple Mobile phone cards @ $25 dollars each. I usually go to Target, due to no extra charges incurred at checkout. I confirmed with BB corporate, online chat and with a store associate before arriving that 4 cards would be an even $100 dollars with NO ADDITIONAL CHARGES. Well at checkout, additional charges were added for each card. I told them I verified NAC before coming in, however I was told different at checkout. Thomas, the manager, indicated with a 'sack of sorries' that it is their policy. I told him I verified with corporate and others with Best Buy, however, he did not care. These people will tell you anything just to get you in their store with no regard for any truth in their statements when asked direct questions regarding products they carry. I am willing to pay a premium at Best Buy versus online retailers because I know that if there is a problem with my purchase, I trust that Best Buy will resolve the issue within reason. I purchased a $399.99 printer on July 1, 2023, because the last laser color printer I purchased at Best Buy lasted me 6 years. The most recent printer I purchased in July has an issue with the alignment where scanned documents display crooked. Before bringing it to the store I attempted to troubleshoot the device myself, and later with a friendly Best Buy technical support representative via phone. The representative tried to help but since the issue could not be resolved over the phone, he instructed me to take the printer to any location where they would deem it defective and exchange it for a new printer. I thought this was a very reasonable resolution to the matter. On September 4, 2023, I brought my Canon 654Cdw printer to the location at 5425 W. Touhy Ave, Skokie, IL 60077. The manager on duty told me that there was a 14-day return policy and Best Buy could not help me. I told him that I did not care what the return policy was, I just wanted the $399.99 printer to scan properly. He proceeded to walk away from me, and I asked him for his name because he was not wearing a name badge. Ironically, employees wearing a name badge is most likely also a store policy but I did not ask, Thomas. I would still like Best Buy to resolve the problem with the printer. I would not recommend opening a Best Buy credit card. If you do and buy their tech one year contract. Pls cancel it right away if you don't wish to renew. Because without your consent they will charge you for the next year and will not credit you back. That's their way of trapping the customer and keep charging you every year . Unless you call them that leave me alone I don't wish to renew . That happened to me after paying full for one year. I thought I am done and they would not charged me without my permission but I was wrong. They would not even ask you and charge you all kind of renewals and extra . I am really impressed with a worker tonight and I had to share. About a month ago, I bought a screen protector for my new Samsung Galaxy. I had the protector installed by a girl from Geek Squad, and two weeks later, it cracked and fell right off. I paid the 7.99 installment fee when she put it on, so I called and asked if I get a replacement if Geek Squad would install the new one for free. The man on the phone said that they could. Fast forward to tonight, I walked in at 8:30pm, and I walked over to Geek Squad. I explained the situation, and the young guy was very understanding and started installing the new protector. Let me tell you, I have never had this kind of awesome customer service. Not only did the worker put the protector on meticulously, he even brought my phone to the back so he can take out every single air bubble. He was by far the best example of customer service, and I just had to share. I feel bad because I do not know his name, but he was a young Asian man with glasses. Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience. The first employee didn't know how to process an unopened box return. She was clueless and didn't know if should open the box. After opening it, she made a nonsense comment "it doesn't look like the cell phone you purchased." She asked someone to help her and the situation got worse. The guy was not able to turn the cell phone and told me he couldn't accept the return (which doesn't make sense - if the item is defective and it was an opened box, this isn't my fault).
