Located in a safe part of the heart of Summerville, Best Buy isn't what it once was but much worse. The outside seems normal enough, on par with our memories of a begotten age and heck the employees seem very nice as well. However, I'm here to level set expectations as my experience in many regards gives cause for concern. I'll detail out how the industry has forced change as well as Best Buys own questionable business practices; all of which had an impact on shopping here. I'll admit, I love Best Buy. I have a very expensive home theatre, I have a bunch of CDs, DVDs, Blu Rays, 4ks, Xbox and Nintendo games along with a Galaxy Fold phone and accessories. I list these products b/c many of them aren't available at Best Buy anymore. With the advent of streaming, Best Buy no longer carries physical media. So, when you stream Toy Story 2 and say "hey, where's that scene with Stinky Pete?" well that's because Disney has altered the movie and unless you have a physical copy your memories are all you have of the scene. Or perhaps you purchased a game on Sony's streaming service, yup you don't own that either. My point is Best Buy isn't there to give you an option to streaming anymore and their floor space has opened up to even more boring and drab "knick knacks" instead of electronic goods. Next, I'm not sure why, but they don't even keep much product on hand, thus limiting the selection. I went in looking for a 15" fiber cable or the same HDMI 2.0 cable. The reason I didn't check on the website is I thought, "I have the time and I like to browse and Best Buy should have it." Big mistake. After finally flagging down an employee who had no idea what I was talking about we couldn't find it. I found a 4" and 8" optical which wasn't enough as well as a 10" and 50" HDMI cable. While there I hopped on my phone and found exactly what I needed on Amazon as for cheaper as I calculated it. This was also true for many other products such as Roku options, TVs, Switch 2 controllers and computer and computer accessories. Finally, I got to the check out line, which I had to ask the security guy where to pay and he said "customer service." I remember the checkout stations and customer service was for repairs. I'm being brutally honest I waited 15 minutes to be helped because they only had one person at customer service. We had 6 people waiting and finally someone decided to give assistance. But here's the kicker, the nice gentleman asked "did you find everything ok?" My response was "No, you don't have the length of optical I needed." His response was telling and why you should not consider Best Buy. He stated with vigor "Have you heard of this stereo place buy Walmart? They should have everything you need." Think about that, a huge store needs to direct my business elsewhere. I admit it, I miss things like a well-stocked Best Buy, Toys R Us, the mall, Barnes and Noble, Circuit City, Block Buster, Camelot Music and many other places. I liked to walk around but I knew they always had what I needed. We call things "progress" right now but it seems what's left of brick-and-mortar businesses don't put much effort into their own survival. While I liked the people at Best Buy for the first time ever, I left irritated. Their commitment to the customer has long gone and considering how carefree they are to service, then I'm not going back. I had a gift certificate to spend, and wanted to upgrade my charger selection (you can never have enough chargers). I found the selection modest, but there was some value to be had. I filled my need with something cheap. I'm a tad skeptical that it will last, but it made sense for me at the time. Weirdly, this location did not have any identifiable checkout line, and I was sent to the customer service desk to actually make a purchase by a group of employees who just kind of seemed to be sitting around. ZERO STARS! I purchased a range for delivery and also paid for removal of the old range. 2 weeks later I received a phone call from DNR. They found all the packaging with my name and address shoved in the tree line in the national forest well off the main road about 1 mile from my house. I had to retrieve the packaging materials myself or get a ticket. I contacted Best Buy and was told that they would come pick up the materials as I had paid for the service and possible they would refund the removal fee. It's been several weeks again, and I have heard nothing from Best Buy. They have lost another customer, and I will not recommend them ever. read more

Wonderful technician locally. Great job done. Installer for 2 camera vehicle did a wonderful job. Needed a tweak done for my comfort but unable to find a phone number for store to see when I could bring vehicle in within the 10 days. I gave 4 stars because of one factor - the absolute rude and obnoxious behavior of one of the employees working in the computer department on March 14 at around 2:45pm. I only wish I had gotten his name. He would get 0 stars! (unless there was a negative possibility) On the other hand a young man named ,Josh, who took over assisting us in the computer area, was beyond wonderful. He was knowledgeable, polite, professional, and so very helpful. Josh not only helped us understand the technology behind each product, he guided us to the best laptop that would fit our needs and for the best price. Not only did he do this for us, but we also saw and heard him assisting other customers. Best Buy Azalea - you have a gem in Josh. He deserves 5+ stars! read more

I wish I could give no stars, but here we are. We purchased a shark vacuum/mop and started experiencing a small amount of issues with it a few months in. However, I purchased a protection plan for repair, replacement, or refund so I felt comfortable we would be good. Fast forward to this past Sunday. While I was disposed with family issues in the ICU, my adult daughter took the Shark in for repair. She told them what it was doing and they informed her that they no longer carried the unit and they don't do repairs so they decided to give her a refund. Well, the problem is that I went by today and found the exact model and unit on their shelves. So, as a member and a long time, loyal customer, I went to the customer service counter to resolve the issue. I was promptly told it was my problem and they reserved the right to repair, replace, or refund at discretion. Not what I was told when I bought the unit or protection plan. Asked to speak to the store manager and was told they don't have one and to call the 800 number if I had a complaint. With such heavy competition in the industry and to the door delivery from places like Amazon, it's no surprise that box stores are failing. They defrauded me when purchasing the unit originally with promises they had no intention to keep and once again when I took one product in after MANY YEARS of purchasing several products from this company. Looks like I'll choose someone else next time I need an electrical device. read more

Bought a BeSpoke Refrigerator from Best Buy on 05/24/2022 for $2818.04 I was told it would be delivered on June 16 . On 6/15 at night they assured me it was being delivered. Removed my fridge and took off from work . After delivery time was to the last hr - I was told I wasn't receiving it . Had to move other fridge back and reconnect ice & water . New date scheduled for July 6 . Originally they wanted to have me wait until end of July . They delivered the wrong size fridge on July 6 . I told them several times and wrote that wrong fridge had been installed. I ordered a counter depth. They assured me I would be taken care of . The following day we discovered the water & ice not set up so we had to purge and fix it etc... We did not move the fridge we owned back for a second time . Was advised to let them Unhook their fridge . Well I am now on my third day of missed work for a fridge that has not arrived. Not only did it not arrive but they said it was coming. This morning. 4 hrs into apt time they finally call and cancel again. I have had two refrigerators hooked up bc one I own and the other they haven't exchanged for the correct one . When the fridge was ordered I had to do so on the telephone with a representative due to internet / online issues. She had me proceed as a guest for quickness or something. As a result I could not open my invoice and they knew this . The ordering took over an hr and I made it extremely clear counter depth was the only reason I was buying a new fridge. I am now paying electricity for min 1-2 months for 2 fridges plus I am out my $2818.04 . In these HARD economic times this is the last way to treat your customers. Plus I am Out $600.00 from Missed work and my electric will be a lot higher. They obviously don't give a damn . I was supposed to be called back by a supervisor hrs ago . So even when they pick up this oversized fridge I will be out min. $700 . I am still waiting for my $ back or a quick solution. I am livid . DO NOT BUY ANYTHING OF SIGNIFICANCE FROM BEST BUY ! I still have to get this crap out of my house and my $ back . I can't believe how I have treated them better than they have me . We are not even unwrapping their fridge . We just use it for ice . I recommend that no one uses Geek Squad at this location. I took my iPad in for repair in December. I currently have NO iPad AT ALL. The manager seems to think that I should just be grateful that they have been "working on my behalf" to get the issue resolved. I have only had to trust people's word, given no email or phone call updates on what should be done although I have been told, "well we are doing this for you even though it's not our fault ". Amazon has really kicked BB in the $%^&, but I still appreciate a location where you can pick something up and see if it works for you. This location is in the heart of Summerville in Azalea square but off a bit so you don't have to deal with the psychotic Target crowd. It is always well kept and stocked. They have a really strong selection of smart home products, which is why I normally go. My son and I built a gaming PC with most of the products coming from BB, prices were comparable to Amazon. Overall, a great place but do not try to return anything or do in store pickup because they have yet to figure that out. read more

I went into Best Buy today with the intentions of buying a new IPad Air along with the keyboard and pen . I knew what I wanted but I had a few questions concerning the specs on the particular item that I wanted to purchase . I am in my seventies and have never been treated so disrespectfully in my life . The young male clerk would not even stand near me and look at the display model that I was referencing . In fact he rarely even looked at me . His standard response to all of my questions was " I don't know because I am not at the register ." In fact he told me to go on the apple site and look it up myself . I used to come here often but since Covid hit the store has gone terribly downhill. The checkouts are no longer at the front of the store, they're scattered throughout. I went today for wireless headphones and went to all three registers. The cashiers are running around helping customers on the floor, and not ringing people up. They aren't putting enough people on the floor to help customers and be cashiers at the same time. I was turned away at one, no one at the 2nd, and stood in line for 15 minutes before she helped me. When it was finally my turn, she walked away and helped a nearby customer. This was embarrassing. Best Buy needs to fix this. read more

Big waste of time with the geek squad here. Bought a car stereo and installation for my wife. On the first try, they never got to her car so she rescheduled and made sure she was the first appointment of the day. After many hours she was told they cannot install the stereo without her purchasing all new speakers as well. At that point she had been through enough and asked for a full refund which they agreed to. But the installation fee was not refunded and I had to endure talking with way too many helpless associates before finally getting my money back. Be advised: if you're thinking about having the geeks install a Kenwood stereo in your 2006 mini cooper, find someone else. They can't do it even though the website says they can. I didn't have an appointment and he treated me as if I had one. I appreciate great CS and I felt honored to be his customer. Got my stereo installed and I was very impressed. They did wonderful work and they were honest.

Have had multiple brutal experiences at this Best Buy. They are rarely ever able to help with issues I have had. The "person who deals with this stuff" is never working during normal business hours. The lack of helpful staff is also not great. It seems like there are lots of people there but no one is willing to help. Hope they can improve on their quality of service for next time. read more

We bought a surface pro and he was prompt in answering our questions etc. we forgot to add the Microsoft office, excel, etc so he had to void and start over, we apologized to him because it was our fault and he was so pleasant and told us to not worry about a thing. The Best Buy in Summerville is a great place for all in person electronic purchases. I still like being able to go in to a real store and look at, touch, and play with all of my electronics before I buy them and this Best Buy is perfect for that purpose. This store is just the right size as it is not too big that you will get lost and I like the way everything is organized in different sections as you can easily go to the section that you are looking for. This store is always clean and well maintained. The staff here seems very knowledgeable and are able to answer your questions or know who to ask to answer your question. The checkout line and return counter is also very efficient and I never have to wait too long to purchase and go. read more

I did a curbside order and for some reason never received the confirmation. Well over an hour I went to the store because I felt something was wrong. When I entered the store it was a group of employees laughing and having a ball. Of course everyone scrammed when they saw a customer. Well they had no idea what was going on with my order either and I was told that I would have to wait until their system caught up and processed the order for a return. This was not a problem, but I felt like I was being a nuisance to the employees as a customer. Never did the manager on duty apologize to me for what happened, instead she apologized to her coworker for having to go and get the item I originally ordered (after I had to ask her could I still buy the item). Fortunately, I had the funds to repurchase the item being that It was already drafted out of my bank account. Had appointments days in advance, went through a call maze of trying to confirm/get information about my appointment to get nothing. go into the appointment that was made to fix the front and back of my phone just to be told they can't fix the front and back of a phone it has to be either front or back, that i need a new phone, and they don't even have the color of phone screen i'd need for it to be replaced. the appointment states what phone i have, that the front AND back needed repair so the fact that it took me to be IN PERSON to hear all this news for the first time was appalling considering how many phone reps i had to speak to in order to get general information about my appointment ! then to realize they didn't even have the correct facilities to do the job that an APPOINTMENT was made for makes them unprepared, unprofessional & incompetent. i could've found out days or even a day before i made the drive out to my appointment that they weren't capable & i could've found a place that could've. appointments are made for a reason when people have time to get these things done, people don't have time to be wasted & sent on a wild goose chase last minute. the only reason they got a star is because although furious the in person man did have good costumer service, didn't tell me a single thing i wanted to hear but was nice atleast. read more

Shocked at how bad customer service was. Walked in the store wanting to buy a Rand McNally gps. Walked around in a circle for about 15 min not finding what I wanted. The same 3 employees walked around me. I received no help. I basically sat a few feet from the cellphone desk area. I sat so Close I could see the female employee doing inventory on the computer. For years we have purchased our electronics ( computers, phones, MP3s televisions, etc) without any issues. Apparently the Best Buy in Azalea Square has undergone some major changes al for the worst! We have been to this store at least 4 times in the past week to relsove an issue. There are not enough associates in the store to help. Checking out at customer service is a nightmare. When you attempt to have something that needs to be installed in a car ( we had a radio installed) you get 3 different people giving 4 different opinions on what accessories you need to buy that you weren't told about initially. And of course, the cost of the "sale" goes up.When you attempt to ask for help with rebates, no one knows anything about them. Why does it smell? Where are the registers? Customer service (for returns), online pick up, and Geek Squad are all located at the same desk. On the day that I went in, there was no register open and this desk was also where all the customers were checking out, which meant that the wait was longer than it needed to be. It's a toss up if I'd rather deal with the parking lot disaster for the Rivers Ave location or bear with the smell while I wait at the Summerville location. The one person we found told me I'd have to wait (because it takes multiple people to help someone pick out a TV apparently). Horrible customer service. Purchased a DSLR camera. Receipt doesn't say anything about a 15-day return policy. I'm at the 22 day mark. I went in to exchange the camera so I could get a better model. I was going to exchange the camera and spend another $500 on a better model. Manager wouldn't except the exchange because it was past the date. Nothing was wrong with the camera. I've frequented this store MANY times over the years, and lately, I've been continually disappointed after my visits. Customer service has definitely gone down-hill in recent years. The company's attempts to cut costs is obvious, since there are no employees manning the registers anymore and everyone checks out at the customer service desk... Finding an associate to assist you is hit-or-miss. Today's experience: I went in knowing exactly what I wanted to buy. I had my young daughter with me, so I asked the gentleman at the door where the shopping carts were, to which he flippantly replied, "outside to the left." No offer to assist or anything... Next, I was able to find a very helpful associate and spent around $700 on an iPad. On the way out, I tried to show my receipt to the same guy at the door and he rolled his eyes and said, "you're good." Ok then.... Fast forward a couple of hours. I came back to the store after having forgotten to purchase a screen protector for the new iPad. I found the screen protector and asked the associate who could place it for me. He directed me to the sales people in the mobile phones department. However, when I asked them about it, they stated that the only people "qualified" to install screen protectors now were the Geek Squad employees. They directed me to the Geek Squad counter... Fine. So there were two guys working behind the counter, and each were helping another customer, so I was next in line.... Twenty minutes later, still helping the same customers. Finally, I was called up to the counter, and I explained what I wanted. The guy rang up the screen protector and the "installation charge" (apparently they charge $15 to put on a screen protector, even when you just spent $700 in their store... but I digress). After I paid, the gentleman states, "I'm going to help the guy behind you before I install this." I was quite shocked... I had already been waiting 25 mins and now you're telling me that you're going to help the guy who came in AFTER me before you help me... AFTER you already charged me?? Anyway, 10 mins later, another Geek Squad associate comes to the counter and asks if I was being helped. The first associate says, "yea, she needs a screen protector installed on her iPad. Its on the counter in the back." Luckily, the second guy was very nice (and very apologetic), although it still took him another 15 mins to install the screen protector. But when he came back, he apologized for the wait. I was quite upset by the inconsiderate customer service, so I tried calling the store directly to speak with the manager. Surprise surprise... NO ONE answers the phones. Nothing but automated options and no one answers no matter which option you choose. I waited for 30 mins on the phone... nothing but an endless loop of music and rings that no one answers. I intend to call corporate on Monday. Its a shame that so many companies no longer insist that their employees provide good customer service... and even more of a shame that so many people have become so accustomed to bad service that they don't expect anything better. read more

We bought my daughter a lap top for Christmas from bestbuy.com and less than two months later it appeared that the hard drive died on it. Luckily it is still under warranty, so I brought it in to the Geek Squad to check it out. They were really good about contacting me about the issues, which ended up being much worse than a hard drive - the motherboard had to be replaced which meant it had to be sent off to their service center and couldn't be completed in the store. I received e-mail and phone updates for everything, though nobody called me when it arrived back at the store. I had tracked it online and saw it was there and called to check. Since it was all under warranty, it didn't cost me anything, which was nice. Though had I wanted all of my daughter's info off the hard drive, it would have been $100. read more
