Customer service is extremely important to me, and unfortunately, this visit was very disappointing. We came in looking for a new laptop, and while the associate did ask if we needed help, the interaction went downhill from there. The laptop we were interested in was a sale item, and instead of respectfully helping us compare options, the associate made belittling comments. He insisted he would never buy an older model, since he only purchases newer ones. When I asked why manufacturers continue to produce and sell older models if they were not reliable, his response was dismissive--essentially saying that only the bigger, more expensive ones are worth buying. We always do our research before making a purchase. Sometimes you need the most powerful product, and other times a more affordable option works--especially if it comes with a warranty or trade-in program. The truth is, older models are still widely used and even bought back by the companies themselves. What ultimately made us walk away was not the product, but the poor customer service: the rudeness, the unwillingness to listen, and the pressure to spend more money based solely on his personal opinion. In today's economy, customers deserve respect, honesty, and guidance--not condescension. This experience left a very poor impression, and I strongly suggest more training for employees on professionalism, listening skills, and understanding customer needs. read more

I purchased a 49" tv here in January and paid about $130 extra to have it mounted in my apartment. As it turned out, I ended up moving last month and didn't want it mounted in my new space, so I bought a tv stand and attempted to screw the legs on. Unfortunately after several attempts, the tv was still super wobbly and wouldn't stand up, so I trekked back to Best Buy. I explained what I needed help with to the greeter up front and they directed me to the tv section. One salesperson was deep in conversation trying to sell a tv, and it turned out he was the only one working the section. After waiting for a long period of time, I started cursing to myself about the ridiculous wait and why they would only have one person for an entire department. Fortunately for me, my mini meltdown was overheard by one of the store managers so he came over and helped. His response was that I either could bring the tv in and they'd check the legs out for free, or he could send someone out but there'd be a cost due to the tv size. I very painfully brought the tv in later that night (thing was heavy) and after lots of effort, the Geek Squad was able to tighten the legs enough for it to stand. It's still not 100% tight, but it does stand up now. Turns out that TVs with the legs on the sides rather than the middle are just like that. Oof. I'm glad they were able to fix it, but it definitely wasn't easy. I've noticed this store in general, even pre-pandemic, just isn't staffed enough. Hopefully corporate will make a change to that at some point. read more

Store was not bad itself. The customer disservice division is horrible. I could not call the store directly as all calls are routed to what appears to be an out of the country call center. There appears to be no way to reach a local store unless going in person. Price match became a fight each time even with a membership. It is because of the horrible customer service we will be shopping elsewhere. The no can do attitude I encountered with several customer service line level and management level employees shows me nobody cares. Took my desktop to West Broad's geek squad to run an antivirus on my c drive, reset windows 10 (but keep my data), and install a 2nd hard drive. Technician assured me we could add a second drive by using the connection from the optical drive. A second technician came over and confirmed that was possible. A couple days later, I picked up my desktop and found that they ripped my hard drive out and replaced it. MISTAKE. When I asked them to fix their mistake, they said my original drive was broken... so they replaced it. Oh, and that it was never an option to add a 2nd harddrive because my case didn't have enough room in it. So all my data is gone, I don't have a second drive, AND I spent money on a desktop unnecessarily. Ask 3 geeks the same question and I got different answers. In my case, they steered me to spend money on a unit unnecessarily. I left a survey re: my disappointing experience. No answer. read more

I see that many folks don't share my same sentiments about Best Buy judging from the 2.5 star rating. Yikes! I just purchased an LG microwave and electric range and had an amazing experience. The purchase was smooth as ever. I found the items that I wanted and that were in stock and ordered them online for delivery and installation. The delivery was free and installation prices were comparable to other places. I ended up upgrading to their tech/service program because the cost of individual installation was the same price. So now all of my appliances are covered for repairs, etc. and I got free installation as a result. They were excellent about communication. On the day my appliances arrived, they texted, and then called when they were 10-15 minutes out. They arrived on time and were extremely professional. Both men wore masks and had our things set up in under an hour. I paid to have them move our old stove and they did with no problem. Again, I have no complaints with our experience. Very happy with our choice to purchase from Best Buy. read more

I ordered a washer/dryer costing 2k waiting 2 weeks for delivery. It arrived damaged which the driver took back. The store called and promised to reschedule saying the unit is in inventory. After failing to get a call and after leaving three voice mails I get an automated call giving me an 888 number. After a 12 minute wait connects to the Philippines where I'm told I gotta wait 6 weeks. Two more calls to the store on holds of 7 to 10 minutes and I get a human who reschedules in 3 weeks. After asking politely to see if I can expedite I get transferred for a 10 minute hold back to .... a clueless call center agent working in Manila in the middle of the night. Best Buy is a struggling company with a poor reputation. My mistake was giving them a chance to make a sale in appliances which they promote as a strength. I am going to try to cancel and buy elsewhere. Don't make my mistake of giving Best Buy a chance. Save your time and use your hard earned money to buy elsewhere. read more

DO NOT PURCHASE APPLIANCES FROM BEST BUY! I purchased over $7200.00 of appliances and they have lied at every turn. Today I had to take off work for a second time (FOUR DIFFERENT DELIVERY DATES) to take delivery of a gas range and oven. At the time of purchase I requested the appliances be delivered to the house before the installation date. They assured me it would not be necessary. After taking a second day off of work, they did not show up for the scheduled delivery. I called and after getting passed around three times and an hour on the phone, they took my order number and said it was on the way just late. They said they would call back to confirm the time but did not. I called back after another 1.5 hours and even more time on hold. I had to eventually ask for a manager, even more time on hold. They said it was going to be delivered 4 days later. So much more to this story. They out right lied after taking my money. Bottom line is DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM BEST BUY. read more

I went to one location (on-line) and paid for it. Was told 1 hour pick up. When my daughter got there she was sent to another store and then that store sent my order back to the original store and told us to wait for. confirmation e-mail either today or tomorrow. When I checked my e-mails (after another hour) they had cancelled my order. Worst service ever. Bought a Microsoft Surface laptop from Best Buy. It was only 39 days since day of purchase and the computer needs to be formatted. Geek Squad at this location wanted to charge $49, then changed the price ten minutes later to $100+. I asked if they would help out since my daughter only logged onto the laptop once and then this lock out happen. Needless to say, not only did the manager not want to help, he wasn't wearing his name tag, so I don't have his name, then he also told me I have to take the laptop back to the store I purchased it from. Funny, I though Best Buy was Best Buy no matter where you bought the electronic from. Note to self: I am done with Best Buy and sad to say not only did this location ruin it for me, but so did the Short Pump, VA location from a manager named Chad. His big fix it was contact Microsoft. we found a great deal on a tv and the team member was helpful, but when we went to pick it up they said they were out of packaging, including boxes, bubble wrap, etc. and that we could come back tomorrow (a Sunday) to pick it up. we live an hour away and couldn't due to other factors and said no we are taking it. I even suggested they go next door to target or Home Depot to get packaging and they ignored me. we took the tv and a bag which we were told were all the cords, feet, etc we'd need and we get home no cords are there. we should have checked but if you're paying that much for a big screen tv, shouldn't that be included with basic customer service? read more

Typical Best Buy. Very friendly staff that means well. But most are young kids that think they know what they're talking about. Do your research prior to going there so you won't be fooled by their mostly inaccurate knowledge and biased opinions. I feel, I am more than fair to businesses & Restaurants in my reviews, as I know how hard it is to keep a business going in Today's Economy... And, yesterday Best Buy seemed to forget about taking care of their Customers. I am dropping my rating down from a 4 to a -1 Star if I could. I have been going into this Best Buy for a number of years and the Customer Service was always a Hit & Miss. Best Buy has a Reward Program in which they will give you a $5. coupon on every $250. you spend.... So, for the past year, I have been buying NEW DVDs in there as they came out... On Jan 22nd, I received an email from Best Buy saying I had earned a $5. reward coupon and I could print it out... Which I did. Yesterday, I went into the store to buy the NEW release of Gravity. Upon paying, I gave the printed out coupon and the cashier. He said they could not accept the coupon as it had expired 3 days after I had printed it out... So, I asked for a manager. When the Young female Manager came over, she said she could not accept the coupon because it had expired. I than asked her, what is the purpose of the Rewards Program if I cannot use the Coupon. She said, if I wanted to call Customer Service at Best Buy, they would issue me a NEW one. So, I told her this is "BS" as my time and money in gas for the car will cost me more than what the coupon is worth. I said, you need to look out for your regular customers, and honor the coupon... Her remark back to me was... "Maybe, if you took the time to look at the Expiration Date, we would not be having this conversation"! OK, Best Buy... you just earned my -1 Star for the Worst Customer Service Award, and for now on, I will be going to Costco or BJ's to buy my Movies. I value customer service and businesses that appreciate their customers whether a long term customer or not. Over the last 8 years customer service has significantly declined at this location. Management and staff used to care. It's really sad to see. I purchased a television and it didn't have a power cord. I returned within the hour with the TV along with my receipt. My drivers license was required to make the return. When I told customer service, as well as the staff in the home theater department what had happened, no one cared or even apologized for the inconvenience. All management staff had gone for the evening (7:30PM on a Friday). Because I wasn't offered any money off of another TV, I requested it. The home theater staff offered $10, which wouldn't cover my time, inconvenience and gas. Mind you, I've purchased a TV, two computers, printer, and two wireless phones over the past year. Looks like it's time to move on to another retailer that appreciates my business. More customers would rate this location higher if the staff used some empathy and appreciated the customers, which is the reason this location is in business and staff have jobs. read more

Best Buy is a big box electronics store. They sell what you would expect. Prices are average. So, why am I writing this? Occasionally, at a big box store that does not have unique products you run into an employee that deserves five starts if you could just rate that employee. Twice I've been to the Best Buy mobile phone department and been assisted by an employee named Andy. Each time Andy provided excellent customer service. He not only showed me what I asked him about but he educated me, sharing other options and the reasons for his recommendations. I've seen other Best Buy staff absolutely fail to even show basic customer service skills. I wish the store would designate Andy as a trainer and have the staff follow his example. Thank you Andy. Best Buy, you do need to work on your overall customer service. You have at least this one shining star at the Short Pump location. Take his talents and have them passed along to your other team members. An HP laptop, LG TV or Samsung microwave can be bought at any number of places. Take steps to have many repeat customers by delivering great service from knowledgeable staff members. read more

I could not be more pleased with this Best Buy location! I was in the market for a Chromebook and was looking for someone to explain to me the differences and various advantages/disadvantages. My friend went to look at models at other location and recieved very poor service. However, when we came into this store, we were greeted immedietly and were asked if we needed help. We were greeted immedietly and our associate grabbed someon from GeekSquad to show us our options. He was super excited to help us and helped me decide to get a Lenovo (which is what I'm using to write this review!). I didn't get his name, but he really knew what he was doing. I ordered a WD - My Book 4TB Exernal USB 3.0 Hard Drive on black Friday best buy in 2019! I only realized in was DOA after I gave it to my step father as a Christmas gift, this was extremely disappointing and frustrating. Any way once best buy issue me an RMA and return label sent the defective drive back within the 15 day return policy. Called Best Buys 800 number on January 15 2020 was told by their CSR named May AND her Manager that my refund would be issued by Jan 17 2020. Found out later that this was a total Lie they both were just telling me whatever they needed to get me off of the Phone and had no interest in helping me fix the problem. Any way I disputed the charge and it took me 3 month and 5 or 6 calls to my Visa Credit card Company to fix this issue. So I will never buy anything else from best buy ever again. Their returns department is extremely unprofessional and will try and blame the customer any time they can instead of just doing their job in the long run. You follow their Return policies and regulations then they change their mind and say the item you returned Is not eligible for a return after they agreed and were the ones that issue you the RMA approval and a valid shipping Label. I have worked for Circuit city as a Store manager in their Richmond Virginia stores years ago and they pulled this trick a couple of years before they closed up all of their stores and declared Bankruptcy so I think Best buy is going the same route sooner rather than later! thanks read more

Worst Best Buy in the Richmond area!!!! Most of the employees have no clue what they are selling. One of the CS managers is a complete a--hole. The Mgr literally yelled at me (the whole store heard) for something that was there fault and not my fault. Called and talked to the regional supervisor told him everything and the guy actually admitted to it. Regional supervisor gave me a nice gift card for what happened but sadly the guy still works there when he shouldn't. If you want to preorder a game, do not expect for them to have it ready for you on release day. If the game is a mid night release at the other locations, do not count on this one being open as the game employees have to be working that day for them to open but guess what, they always take vacation on those days. The worse part is the biggest game in a long time and a full sale out before the store gets is is DIABLO 3. They are not going to be doing a midnight release as they allowed two game employees take a vacation for the entire week!!!! Such bad business practice. Also a lot of this locations employees are mad about not being able to get the game. Seriously though, what true gamer takes a vacation when Diablo 3 is release (you take it right after). Those two employees should be removed from the game dept!!! The only good employee in that dept, is Steven (who is the dept. mgr I believe . He is one of the best employees there is and deserves a promotion or pay raise! This is normally my go to store for electronics. On this trip, i wasnt happy with the service I was provided. My daughter and I went in to get a PS3, evidently there are 2 versions, a old style that has a slot to put the game in, and the newer version that has a sliding door. My daughter wanted the one with the slot.. The picture on the box had the sliding door, and she asked the salesman specifically about it, he assured us that the one in the box was the slot and when we bought it, and opened it in the parking lot it was NOT THE RIGHT ONE... She went back inside, and he gave her some lame escuse about taking it home, trying it out, she might like it.. Blah blah blah.. Heres a tip Best Buy guy,.. If you dont know.. Dont lie.. Upon returning it to Costner service we were told that the only way to fix the issue was to travel to a nearby best buy to procure another one. When we asked if the item could be shipped here, we were told no. Traveling to another best buy would put us squarely a half hour out of the way .
