Before last weekend, I hadn't been here in close to a decade. At that time, it seemed as though the store was going downhill. So when my mom needed a new laptop, I dreaded coming to this location with the expectation that it must have been awful by now. To my surprise, we actually had a very positive experience! We dropped by on a Saturday afternoon so I was anticipating crowds and difficulty finding someone to answer any questions my mom might have. But we experienced the exact opposite. The store felt almost empty aside from folks working and just a handful of customers shopping. We were able to find someone immediately to answer my mom's questions and we were able to buy her a new laptop quickly with confidence and excitement that she found the perfect one for her needs. It was also so easy to find parking here which is always a bonus. Overall, the store was clean, organized and everyone we interacted with that worked here was friendly and helpful so I'll definitely be open minded about returning here in the future. read more

Great experience. No wait in line, employee was immediately available, pickup process easy and efficient. They have a huge parking lot and an upper level lot for overflow. There's always a cop out front likely because the is area is prone to a high level of theft. The store is clean and well laid out. Definitely an overall positive experience. read more

Be careful when buying a computer at this store. I recently bought a computer (which is a good one) and was told that there would probably be a price drop "before school, prices on this particular computer will probably drop). If the price dropped, then the price difference would be credited to my account. WELL, on the Best Buy website, the same computer was list with a $75 difference. When I called about this, was told that because it was being advertised by a different company (and yes this is on the Best Buy website as being able to get the computer from this company using the Best Buy website), no refund would be sent. I would have to come back into the store to see that the same computer as is listed on the website, is in fact, on sale. This is, in my opinion, false and deceptive advertising. This make me less reluctant to purchase anything from Best Buy again. IF this is the current Best Buy customer service, they have lost a valuable customer. For the record, the people I worked with were very nice and I did get good service and I believe that the info I was given was done in good faith. read more

I will not be shopping at this Best Buy again. While I fully understand and respect the importance of loss prevention, being closely monitored by a police officer while shopping and having my receipt aggressively checked at the exit, when not all customers appeared to receive the same treatment, left me feeling uncomfortable and singled out rather than welcomed. A customer's skin color should not determine how they are treated. I made a legitimate purchase of Apple AirPods, yet the experience made me feel unfairly scrutinized. As a result, the product is being returned, and I will not be spending any more money at this location. To make matters worse, after escalating my concerns to Best Buy's executive team, I received a follow-up call that felt dismissive and failed to meaningfully address the issue. Customer service at this location has clearly declined. If this behavior continues, it is not surprising that customers will take their business elsewhere. Our 17 year old washing machine needed to be replaced. We went to our small, local appliance repair and sales shop. They did not have what we were looking for so we reluctantly headed for Home Depot. On our way I realized we were practically going to pass Best Buy and on our last visit there I saw they had a fairly good size home appliance department. We stopped in and they didn't have a huge selection but they did have what we were looking for. Only small glitch during the buying experience was that we waited awhile and no sales person appeared. We asked at the help counter and they said they would send someone over. We waited some more still no salesperson so we were walking out the door when an employee ran over and said there was someone of the way. When our saleslady came we showed her two machines that we were interested in. She pointed out one had features we didn't need and was more expensive than the other model. Great, we had our washer picked out. As we were checking out our salesperson told us they could deliver it in two days. Wow. She also said they would initially give us a delivery time frame of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. but they would narrow it down before delivery day. Shortly after arriving home we received an email from our delivery "coordinator" saying our delivery time was 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. We noticed on the email was also a tracking button. When we checked it the delivery day there was a map with our home marked and a little truck showing where they were and a delivery time of 1:31. I got fascinated with this tracking feature and kept checking as the time would change as they got closer to us. Just as the tracker said they were 10 minutes away our phone rang and it was the delivery man confirming their arrival. They arrived just as promised and within 15 minutes had hauled the old washer out and set up the new washing machine. I have never had such a great experience with an appliance delivery before. I will definitely consider going back to Best Buy when I need to replace another appliance. read more

I ordered remote start kit and scheduled an installation for the 10th of December but my appointment was canceled on the 9th because they didn't have the item but the item got delivered the next day. I talked to someone on the phone just to find out there was another part I needed that no one mentioned or sent to me so he sent the part and rescheduled me to a different store on the 28th which is over 40 minutes away from me but it had the nearest available date. The 28th comes and I drive to said store just to find out the remote start kit is still at Wheaton, they had over two weeks to send it but didn't do it and couldn't give me a good reason why. Their only solution is for me to drive back to Wheaton and reschedule me for the 13th of January. I have to wait over two weeks again. read more

I stopped here to pick up a very small item (a printer cartridge). I thought the layout of the store was pretty straightforward. Also, the sales associate that assisted me was pretty helpful in helping me find what I needed. Although the store did not have the cartridge that I needed, the sales associate set up the online order and my items were delivery within 48 hours. Hopefully, my next visit will be just as efficient as this one. read more

The store is pretty well set up, has good products and most items are marked clearly. The reason for the average rating are two things that are not up to standard: 1) my $5 certificate was not deducted from my purchase even though I showed the bar code on my phone and the expiration date was February 2026, they could have given my $5 with some effort, 2) the lazy associate who works at the entrance. There was a considerable amount of trash outside the store so I suggested if she has 1 minute it would be nice if she moved a few steps outside and picked up some of the trash which to put it mildly was disgusting. She seemed to have an attitude, i.e., it's not in my job description...., so after exiting the store after about 1/2 hour the trash was still there. I picked most of it up and disposed it. I told her kindly that in the future if you see lots of trash outside, take a break and pick it up! It's not that hard! read more

I purposely go out of my way to avoid this Best Buy despite it being local. I went in to just a buy a simple hdmi, and it turned into an hour experience. An employee takes about 10 minutes per customer , with only 1 employee at every station. The other employees walk around pretending to be busy and refusing to help because of their so called work. The employees at the actual checkouts try their best but there is no efficiency at all. read more

Had to sstand in line! at the customer service desk to get someone to assist me. When they finally showed up, all they could say was that they did not have the object on display for sale. Lousy trip. Update December 2020... Best Buy in Wheaton is OPEN!!! Boy, has this place changed since my last visit. First off, due to covid, mask are required due to state regulation. Tons of hand sanitizers found throughout the store. Very clean from what I've seen. It appears they now open cashiers at the checkout lines at the front of the store. The customer service and online pick up appears to be sharing lines now. If you walk further back in the store, there are additional customer lines for big item purchases. I came here to return an item and the store staff were very attentive and were able to help me get through the process. Best Buy does a good job with purchase returns, exchanges and online pick up. Please note that exchanged items cannot be priced match in the event the new item get a price drop. Please keep that in mind. Also, if you don't feel comfortable going inside, they do have store curbside pickup. This will require you to check in thru the Best Buy phone app and you just mention what numbered parking spot you are at and a store employee will bring out your order. Please have your code and ID ready for them to give you your items. I think the store has improved as customer service has been better. If you are in need of electronics, give this place a try. --------------------------- Update January 2020. Wow, something has changed here. Normally the Best Buy chains have a standard layout. This place does have that design, but in terms of execution, it's very poor. This place does have abundance of inventory as it should be in Best Buy stores. Parking here is plenty and free. Still accepts cash, credit card and mobile payments (Apple /Samsung / Garmin Pay). Normally the checkout lanes are located near the entrance / exit of the store. They do have that at this location with several check out lanes. However, the past few months, I noticed that all those lanes are closed. Instead, customers would need to wait at the customer service line to check out items that they want to buy at the store. This causes massive lines and wait times. Just recently this week, I was there to pick up an online order. I stood in front of the "order pick up" line for a few minutes. No staff was present in front of the counter. After 10minutes of waiting, I walked towards the security staff by the front door (only person available at Best Buy) and asked them if I was in the correct line for order pick up. He replied that I was in the correct line. However, due to staffing, no one was available to work that counter. Therefore, I needed to wait at the Customer Service line to pick up my order. Keep in mind, the customer service line is now ringing up customers who buy in store products, online orders and productreturns. This led to long wait times and busy lines. What is going on here? I came here on a weekday so it shouldn't be this busy. I was once a fan of Best Buy for their convenience and ability to get in and out quickly. However, this place has really gone downhill. Customer service is terrible. The checkout stations are there, but not operating as it should. Customer service line gets all the attention. Something has to change. Need clearer communication as customers who are in correct lines are later told to go to another line. Not sure if it's just this location or if this same problem is occurring in other Best Buy locations. read more

I came knowing exactly what I wanted so I headed directly to the routers which were near the front of the store. I recently joined the 21st century and ditched my big box tv for a Smart, HD TV. Actually my old TV ditched me. I needed to get my phone lines updated per the multiple calls from Verizon. The guy came and after two hours I was hooked up, but I deferred to the rental router and figured in the long run I'd save more by using my old one Well, that was a no go that I realized after the guy left. I needed a 1 Gbps and apparently my old one sucks. I asked a Best Buy guy for advice, and ended up with one with 1.9 Gbps speed. Linksys for the win! All is well. I can watch the Great British Bake-off in all its scrumptious glory. If they aren't too busy, the staff is very helpful, plus there is lots of parking, and for me, it's more convenient then heading up or down The Pike. read more

One star is extremely generous. Do not get your Apple products serviced by them. You will get there at your appointment time only to have them tell you that they can't provide the service because only one person is capable of replacing a battery and he is out. Mixed bag on getting a Samsung refrigerator w/ice maker ( model RT18M6215SG). Bad on me: not measuring to ensure the fridge could be taken down my stairwells. The crew ended up taking off the doors and top control housing. Walls & fridge were scuffed a bit even then but I take responsibility to have measured not only the place the fridge was going but the path to get it there, and the crew worked hard to make it happen. Bad on Best Buy: I paid $134.99 for advanced installation but apparently that didn't include installing a two-way valve under the sink?? I had to pay Best Buy's contracted plumber $125 to install a new valve, smooth installation after that. Plumber did a good job and cleaned up after himself, so I'm not blaming him. The good: after all that, the fridge is there and doing what it's supposed to. Suggestion: buy the fridge & have delivered, then get your own plumber to install it, would probably have been cheaper & better for me in the long run. read more

I don't frequent Best Buy, but during my last few visits, I've always gotten what I need, and at a really good price. The right ear of my LG bluetooth earphones were starting to malfunction, so since I had them under warranty, I took them back. My intention was to get a replacement, but the guy in customer service said that they have had so many returns with that particular model that I should consider looking into another. I took his advice and picked up another model which I don't like as much from a design perspective. However, he did end up giving me very good advice because I later found out that Best Buy will no longer insure that model due to the high number of returns. On my last trip, I needed a new printer-copier-scanner for my home office. I saw a particular model online that was on sale for 50% off the regular price. I rushed down there and was overjoyed to see that they had them in stock. The good thing about this Best Buy is that it's definitely not as busy as the other ones, so I I can always expect a short wait. The bad thing is that because they're not as busy as some of the other stores, they're also not as heavily staffed, so it may take a little time to find someone to assist you. read more

Terrible non-existent service from geek squad. It truly was unbelievable how they didn't do simple things like data recovery on hard drives. We got the run around over and over wasting hours of time. I would absolutely NOT recommend buying their geek squad plan, especially at $180-200 a year. Better to go to someone independent. Really wanted this to work out. read more

They made me set up an appointment to come back to repair my Apple Watch...so I thought that's what was going to happen. However to my surprise the day of my appointment I was told I had no coverage and my cracked screen would cost me $300+ Excuse me??? That's how much a new watch would cost! Now I don't mind there's no coverage apparently the Apple representative was wrong for telling me it would be even though I didn't buy Apple care it was covered under my year warranty her exact words " all Apple products have a year warranty". I was more disappointed the Best Buy rep didn't suggest I purchase Apple care when I bought the watch...that's a no brainer. Apple needs to make sure Best Buy employees are representing their products and services to avoid this type of confusion. Best Buy needs to have a discussion with their managers and employees b/c the service is unacceptable. I arrived for my appointment...customers were standing all around trying to social distance. My name did not appear on the appointment board so when I calmly asked the geek squad rep how do I check in...He loudly tells me that someone called off and they had to bring in someone else who was off today... he'll be with me soon. Another rep told me to just sit in chair and when I declined he again told me to sit down so he knows whose next. First of all we're in a pandemic so I'm not sitting in public chairs with people standing all around me. Then they point to a lady sitting in the back and tells her she's been there the longest so she's next. I asked them what appointment time are you on and they said there going first come first serve. The other customers started questioning that answer...The lady they pointed to said her appt wasn't until 4:40. Mine was at 4pm and another lady spoke up said hers was at 3:40. Total disregard for people's time and very unorganized. The bad thing about it...it was 4:15 so Why weren't they calling for their appointments in order. They weren't that behind...lol smh I asked to speak to manager and as I was explaining the situation to him...how his employee had made an appointment just to have me take off of work early and go cone to Best Buy just to be told I don't have coverage. As I was explaining this...one of the rude employees...I can't make this up...he comes up and starts talking to the manager who then turns and talks back to him just totally disregarded me. Falsely advertised open box TV condition. Listed as "excellent", but it's "fair" at best. Drove 45min each way to find chipped glass on the screen, no remote, no manuals, and no accessories. This is a huge problem with Best Buy stores nationwide! They keep knowingly listing open box items in a certain condition, only for the item to either not be in the listed condition, or not even available. On the bright side, Best Buy will probably be out of business in the next 10yrs because it's such a terrible retailer and we won't have to deal with their nonsense anymore. read more

I thought I'd give it a try and turned away their efforts to upsell me to a $199 subscription instead of a one-time $39.99 session. I was told this session could be remotely done but subsequently was told this requireed me to bring my PC to a store. I tried to cancel after this bait-and-switch and then bounced around being transferred to four different places where I got no satisfaction after asking for a refund since they had already charged my bank account. I just gave up and will dispute the transaction with my bank. read more

This location is understaffed and unreliable. I bought an open-box tv online that didn't exist in the store. It was supposed to be ready at 6, I got there at 7, it wasn't ready, I left, and we learned at 9pm that it was nowhere to be found. The manager Vladimir told us to return the following day and pick out a new tv. I did; he wasn't there and no one knew what to do. Instead of leaving the order as unfulfilled, they mark it not found, which canceled the order and prevented me from leaving with my tv. I spent over an hour in that store waiting for help and then being helped only to leave with nothing again. Huge waste of time, poor communication, poor inventory management, poor customer service. read more

I would always see this store when driving on Georgia Avenue to and from my home in Glenmont off of Randolph Road. I have been here on 2 occassions in the past few months. I've been impressed by the store's attention to it's customers. At the entrance you are greeted by employees stationed at the security post. They offer a friendly hello & directions to help find what your looking to buy. I was there to look at the laptops. With so many different models on display from the affordable to the expensive I asked for the assistance of the employee working in this department. He was busy but was able to help me in less than 5 minutes. He showed me several of the models on display. I was impressed by the information cards & the price signage. They offer payment plans of 12 months clearly shown on the displays. I found the prices to be a little bit out of my price range but appreciated the friendly & knowledgeable assistance. On the way out of the store I checked out their line of Ring security & doorbell items. They've been installed in my current home & are very sensitive & efficient. Over a week ago I made an appointment with Geek Squad to have my phone battery replaced. The promised curbside call never came, so I went inside the store for my appointment. I was standing in line waiting to be called. A young man was sitting in a chair near to me with his mask below his nose. I politely asked him to pull his mask up. When he refused. I tried to get the attention of a manager or associate, but no one came to my aid. I told him that he was being ignorant. He called his brother over and told him that I had called him an ignorant n word. I said no such thing. I was suddenly surrounded by a cadre of male employees without name tags asking me to leave the store. I refused to leave and miss my appointment. I was told by an employee in a blue shirt that I was insulting him with the use of the n word, which I did not use, but told him that I had been accused of saying it. I called the police and was told that I had to leave the store. I lost my appointment and felt afraid for my life. It is impossible to contact the corporate offices of Best Buy. This store should be investigated for racism and endangerment to customers. So I have lost the appointment that I made a week ago, I left the store and was followed out by my accusers. I felt afraid for my life. The Best Buy Store in Wheaton MD is a dangerous, racist establishment. I am in fear for my life for just asking that someone obey the law by wearing a mask properly. Proper retraining and punitive action should be given. I expect a full apology and evidence of reprimand to the employees of this store. I will be copying appropriate state and county offices to advise them of this incident. read more

Tried calling Best Buy Geek Squad to schedule an appointment and ask a pretty basic question about prices. Both times the call hub-operator (who was just great, btw) forwarded me to the geek squad desk, It would ring and then someone would pick up the receiver and then just hang-up. Call hub operator then (on his own suggestion) forwarded me to a manger, who didn't answer their phone. Hanging-up on customers who are happy to give you their money is beyond inappropriate. This is a deeply mediocre customer experience. I needed to get my camera fixed (it had a warranty), and for some reason, the transaction took a full hour. They said the camera would be mailed back to my house, but instead it was sent to the store. I had to make an appointment and then Wait around for 15 min past my appointment time simply to pick up the camera. How is this acceptable? read more

This review is only addressing home appliances requiring delivery. My refrigerator died, so I needed a new one quickly. Best Buy had a great sale, and the sales person was terrific. Delivery was scheduled only 2 days later, which was wonderful. Two days later, the delivery people refused to make delivery because my house was "in disarray". I'll admit that; I'm a single guy and the refrigerator was 30 years old. Fine, reschedule for 2 days later, and spent those 2 days cleaning the refrigerator (remind you, this was headed for the dump) and the house. 2 days later, the delivery truck stops in front of my house, and promptly leaves! No knock on the door, no phone call, nothing. I called Best Buy, and they say the delivery team took a picture of my house proving I wasn't home!! Cancelled the sale and bought the exact same refrigerator from Sears. Delivered on time with no fuss. Moral: Best Buy has great prices and sales people are fine, just don't buy anything requiring delivery. read more

Went to pick up a laptop for my kid after waiting 2 weeks for delivery and they claimed someone with my last name already picked it up claiming they were my cousin!!!! Came in here to purchase a cell phone case. First, there was only one cashier working the midday shift. Wait time was a bit too long. Second, according to store policy, Best Buy does price match items from Amazon, as long as they are in stock (item was in stock). I went to the cashier to purchase the case and was informed that my price match was "denied" by the manager (who would not walk over from the customer service station to tell me this in person). I ended up calling the toll-free number to get the price match. The reason why I gave two stars was because the cashier was friendly. My suggestions to the store is to honor the price match. Also, if you are a manager and decide to deny my price match, please walk over and tell me that you are denying my price match and explain why you are doing so. read more
