Dan in Service was able to maneuver personnel to fit us into schedule and had unit repaired by Tuesday evening . Temperatures were up to 100 degrees these days and extremely uncomfortable for us including for our two year Granddaughter, especially at nap time. He suggested that I plan to save $6000 to $7000 for a new one this fall. In November I met with a Walrath salesperson who evaluated where the furnace was located in my crawl space and advised that the price would be $8000. Two days later his written proposal came in at $10,000. When I asked him about the difference, he said that he had forgotten to add in how labor intensive my particular installation would be. He was certain it would go into a second day. I took him at his word. It took the workmen less than 6 hours to complete the job. The salesman and head of the company - now called Walrath Mechanical - refuse to talk to me about the $2000 extra I was charged for labor that was not required. This is a scam. I have since noted on Yelp that I am not the only reviewer of Walrath who trusted a grossly inflated bid. These guys are crooks. Homeowners like me and managers of commercial properties may have once appreciated this small company. Don't be fooled - they no longer care about you.

Everything checked out and the system was stated to be functioning normally. BUT Dave thought the system could be better if I added a different circulation pump. He also thought the system should be re-piped. As the bid for everything was close to $5,000, I opted to replace pump for $864. Soon after the pump was replaced and that maintenance work was done, I noticed the pipes were clanging when the heat went off. They said air was in the system and wanted to replace the air vent. Before they could replace the air vent my system broke down. It took them a week to get back to fix the problem (that's right! No heat or hot water for a week!). After it got running again the clanking continued and when I called to ask why, I was dismissed and asked to "pay up". I decided to enlist another company certified be the manufacturer to give the system a closer look. You won't believe what they found! The pump they installed was the wrong size(was suited for a large commercial application) and they installed it UPSIDE DOWN! The technician also found the heat exchanger had failed and there was carbon monoxide and gas spewing from it! It had to be shut down immediately was going to cost me $4,250 to get the system repaired! I hold Cedar Creek Mechanical and Dave Sutton responsible for this but to this date there has been no effort by him to make things right. Whats more, the suggestion for the repiping was all wrong. The factory certified technician said it was wrong to move the pipes on this system the way he suggested. So here it is: This company does bad work, suggests things that don't need to be done and then claims no responsibility! I believe they are also overpriced when I compare to others. They might try to deny this, but my system was running fine. I have it in writing. I have all of the receipts. We will see what the judge thinks!

Furnace upstairs had same issue and the tech advised it was fixed and warrenty would not cover part because the part was not broke but simply didnt fit. After he took my card he shared that he screwed the pipe to another pipe and likely it wouldn't work and a replacement pea trap would be $860 for a new one but because part was not actually broke warrenty would not cover. I asked if part isnt broke but doesnt fit could it be same issue on the furnace Serviced previously. He asked to look at what other tech did and said no. I called their office and was bullied by their office staff who claimed they saved us money. Our neighbor had same experience same week but thru them out of her house and recomended a reputible HVAC service who came out removed the part and fixed for 125.00 This company is crooked they call screwing two pipes together saving me $ but its still leaking. But I had a great experience today with Cool Heat Mechanical Systems in Denver. My house has two furnaces, both of which needed a check-up and filter change. A friend recommended Cool Heat and I was so glad they had. Paul, the owner, was completely professional, very knowledgeable, and ***gave us one the fairest price*** I've ever gotten from an HVAC firm. The cost for checking both furnaces thoroughly, replacing the filters, running carbon monoxide tests, and spending several minutes talking to us about our furnaces was only $134 which included travel time. We now have smoothly running furnaces, more knowledge than we ever would have had about the age and condition of our HVAC equipment, and the peace of mind to know everything is working well. I would recommend this company to anybody. I'm sure you'll have as positive an experience as I did.

One of my neighbors recommended Cool Heat, so I gave them a call on Friday afternoon around 3:30PM, thinking I'd get a call back next week. He was wrapping up another service call in the area, so came right over in about 30 minutes. He was GREAT! Our HVAC was frozen up with gunk and he cleaned it all up. He did confirm our suspicions about our ducting system - woefully under trunked (old 4" ducts) with lots of breaks. He gave us a reasonable price for upgrading, but recommended that we don't need to do it now. So, we'll now be able to save the money for that project (that we suspected we should have done 4 years ago when we installed our new units). Thankfully, he confirmed that our actual equipment was great and that there is no need to replace those. (My fear was always that someone would come in and recommend a whole new system). Best $125 ever spent - an hour on site to fix us up! We will definitely be hiring Cool Heat to come back to upgrade our ducting later this year! As a bonus, he also services Rinnai water heaters - because we live in Englewood (hard water), we need to get it serviced. I've gotten outrageous quotes for that in the past - his quote is substantially lower than everyone else, so I'll have him to that, too.
