Temperatures were up to 100 degrees these days and extremely uncomfortable for us including for our two year Granddaughter, especially at nap time. He suggested that I plan to save $6000 to $7000 for a new one this fall. In November I met with a Walrath salesperson who evaluated where the furnace was located in my crawl space and advised that the price would be $8000. Two days later his written proposal came in at $10,000. When I asked him about the difference, he said that he had forgotten to add in how labor intensive my particular installation would be. He was certain it would go into a second day. I took him at his word. It took the workmen less than 6 hours to complete the job. The salesman and head of the company - now called Walrath Mechanical - refuse to talk to me about the $2000 extra I was charged for labor that was not required. This is a scam. I have since noted on Yelp that I am not the only reviewer of Walrath who trusted a grossly inflated bid. These guys are crooks. Homeowners like me and managers of commercial properties may have once appreciated this small company. Don't be fooled - they no longer care about you.

Jeff Elder, the owner, told me that day that he would get the inspection scheduled within the next few days. As of today, February 17, 2026, the inspection has not been scheduled. I've contacted Jeff via text and email messages numerous times since then. He has told me almost every time that getting the inspection scheduled was his priority. When I have asked him if the permit was pulled, the conversation stops. I submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. This company has a C+ rating with them and so they are not accredited. If you are considering getting a new HVAC system and are considering using Best CO HVAC, I would suggest only paying half of the invoice until you know the permit has been pulled and the system has passed inspection.

It doesnt matter if the jobs were completed successfully but it matters if they are an ethical company. I got a flyer in the mail & called them for an initial consultation to check one of my AC units. Kyle was the.person i talked to make the appointment. He told me that there will be a $100 charge which i accepted because most companies will charge that & if you decide to go w/the job they may even deduct that from the final bill. I do not recall anythin else mentioned during that conversation. Then Francisco, the tech came. Initially, he did not mention anything regarding charges. He spent about over an hour, worked very slowly, checked the AC, answered some of our questions then came up with a repair proposal over $3k. When i glanced at it item by item, i noticed almost an $800 charge for R22 gas, which my AC needs about 6 to 8oz retail cost of that is max about $200, then there was a charge for a 2nd person for another $200+ and many other inflated charges that put the repair cost over $3k. Francisco worked slow motion, he did not perform any type maintenance but repairs. However, after the $3k repair proposal, just before he was leaving he said there will be another $545 charge over and above the $100 for his services. What services, in order to determine the necessary repairs they need to come look and then give the proposal. Why am i paying $545 for that service, didnt i already paid $100? This to me is the biggest scam i have ever seen in my entire life related w/any type of construction, repair & etc business dealings. I have been in construction business for over 40 years. I not only did lots of residential projects, just completed a $1.5M home project in TX but also did major store builts in Denver Int'l, Washington Dulles & Dallas TX airports over the years. So im not just an upset person but a very well informed client. But I had a great experience today with Cool Heat Mechanical Systems in Denver. My house has two furnaces, both of which needed a check-up and filter change. A friend recommended Cool Heat and I was so glad they had. Paul, the owner, was completely professional, very knowledgeable, and ***gave us one the fairest price*** I've ever gotten from an HVAC firm. The cost for checking both furnaces thoroughly, replacing the filters, running carbon monoxide tests, and spending several minutes talking to us about our furnaces was only $134 which included travel time. We now have smoothly running furnaces, more knowledge than we ever would have had about the age and condition of our HVAC equipment, and the peace of mind to know everything is working well. I would recommend this company to anybody. I'm sure you'll have as positive an experience as I did.

One of my neighbors recommended Cool Heat, so I gave them a call on Friday afternoon around 3:30PM, thinking I'd get a call back next week. He was wrapping up another service call in the area, so came right over in about 30 minutes. He was GREAT! Our HVAC was frozen up with gunk and he cleaned it all up. He did confirm our suspicions about our ducting system - woefully under trunked (old 4" ducts) with lots of breaks. He gave us a reasonable price for upgrading, but recommended that we don't need to do it now. So, we'll now be able to save the money for that project (that we suspected we should have done 4 years ago when we installed our new units). Thankfully, he confirmed that our actual equipment was great and that there is no need to replace those. (My fear was always that someone would come in and recommend a whole new system). Best $125 ever spent - an hour on site to fix us up! We will definitely be hiring Cool Heat to come back to upgrade our ducting later this year! As a bonus, he also services Rinnai water heaters - because we live in Englewood (hard water), we need to get it serviced. I've gotten outrageous quotes for that in the past - his quote is substantially lower than everyone else, so I'll have him to that, too.

Before the installation I had many detailed discussions with Phil, the owner, about the specs for the job and what specific equipment to install (there are lots of choices in this kind of system). Phil always listened to my concerns and explained everything very well; he is low-key and did not pressure me to buy anything in particular. One of the difficulties of the installation was that we did not have any specs for the old system and had to guess as what the capacity of the ground loop is. Installation was done on schedule, over a period of five days, by Aaron, Frank, and Zach, and they did very careful and neat work. The resulting collection of pipes and boxes is beautiful (if you like this kind of thing, and I do). I especially appreciate that they cleaned everything thoroughly when they finished. The new system is working much better than the old one, especially for cooling and for air flow.

With the help of Ronnie and Eric it was decided to try making adjustments to the furnace prior to having to making any expensive repairs to the system. Eric came over and in less than hour made the necessary adjustments with the result that the furnace is worked great even during our recent spell of minus zero temperatures. They could have easily just gone forward with expensive repairs but instead tried the low-cost alternative first and it worked. Great HVAC company with great technicians that really know what they are doing. I highly recommend them.
