I was searching for an eye doctor for my daughter and because of being a new patient, most places were offering us an appointment 3 months out. I came across Best in sight eye care and gave them a call to ask if they see younger/pediatric patients. The lady at the front desk was very polite and answered my questions. Upon hearing our struggle, she offered us same week appointments. I also realized later that they have a very user-friendly scheduling system on their website that can be filtered by the doctor and by the dates. I received a reminder text a day or two before the appointment. The clinic is clean and very tidy. There's a coffee machine for patients in the waiting area. The staff was very friendly towards my daughter, especially as this was her first eye check up. We didn't have to wait at all and were taken in almost immediately. After running some tests, we were quickly greeted by the doctor, Dr Rich, who tried to do the exam without making my daughter upset or cranky. Dr. Rich was thorough in answering our questions and didn't make us feel rushed at all. They accept most insurances and the checkout process was fast and smooth. I needed a new eye doctor and my wife recently had an appointment here. She had great things to say, so I had to check it out. They were incredible!! The front desk staff was very friendly and I only had to wait a few minutes for my appointment. They are pretty busy, I think that's because they are so good and are getting good word around the area. The doctor was great. He took his time to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. I needed contacts as well as glasses. Since I have a kind of a crazy, set up, we talked through that, and he gave me some other suggestions which we tried and have worked perfectly since. After the appointment, I went out and picked out my glasses. A very friendly staff member help me through that process and took care of making sure insurance was covered. We found the glasses I wanted and got all the information into the system and placed on order. My contacts arrived probably three days after my appointment, very quickly, and my glasses about a week and a half later. And the person that helped me to make sure they were right for me, was also very nice, friendly and social. I love my eye doctor! Thankfully this place came off of a recommendation from a former co worker, and I have just stayed with them ever since. They have 2 locations, one in new pal and one in Indy. Indy is my go to place, you can make appointments online and they usually have a good selection of appointment times, I got in on a Saturday which was perfect! The office is bright and clean without feeling sterile, and the admins are always friendly! The appointments are efficient but they do take the time to work with you to figure out what's best. Yesterday it turns out the Tork in my right contact was not sitting correctly in my eye, so the Doc took the time to try some different lenses until I could actually see. I've had two visits to Best in Sight now. I first went for an annual eye exam. It was pretty easy to get an appointment with Dr. Rich, and soon enough, I was in the office. The waiting area has a coffee machine with an assortment of options, a TV on the wall, and a semi-closed off section with what I believe is a video game available for kiddos. It's a clean space, and a fairly comfortable one to wait. The front desk staff are kind and efficient, so you should expect to have a good first impression. What I appreciated about my eye exam was that I was given some options. Don't want to be dilated? For $35, you can do a special eye scan instead. I opted to do this, and seeing the scan later was really cool. Dr. Rich explained what we were seeing to me, which I appreciated. Dr. Rich was calm, confident and capable as she conducted my exam. My appointment didn't drag on, she and everyone else made sure things ran smoothly and efficiently. They do have a wall of glasses for you to try on. I only noticed them in passing, but there were some frames I liked! Wasn't in the market for buying glasses or contacts through them, so I got my prescriptions to go. No one gave me any hassle about this in person, though I did get a little educational lecture about the dangers of buying contacts online from someone on the phone when I first called to set up my appointment. Overall, I had a good experience here! I'm thinking I'll be back for my next eye exam in a year. This is the first non chain I have gotten glasses from. From appointment making to choosing glasses, everyone was amazing. Everyone I worked with was personable and very nice. It's a very comfortable and relaxed place. Their concierge type service is exceptional. From checking in to choosing glasses,I didn't have to go sit and wait in different places, I didn't have to walk around and figure out my own frames. The optician I worked with was Theresa. She went and chose frames that she thought would be my style and she knocked it out of the park. She was fun and easy to work with. I was looking for a new eye doctor and this place was in my network. The doctors were great. After the appointment they took me up front where they sale contacts and glasses. When I communicated I wasn't ready to purchase contacts, the person there told me I was wrong when I said in the past that my insurance has fully covered the cost. She literally pulled up the website and tried to show me how they were the cheapest option available. She wouldn't drop it and kept saying I was wrong and there is no way I had them fully covered. I have been coming to see Dr. Huffman at Best in Sight for several years. Even though I moved to the northwest side of Indy, I still make the drive down to see him for my yearly appointment. I require a very strong prescription to see clearly, and I have gone to several other optometrists whose recommendations would result in intense headaches for me. Dr. Huffman was able to get me the proper prescription so that my vision has been absolutely clear. He also is able to use a machine to map your retina and immediately look for any tears or damage that could indicate future problems. This means no dilated pupils and I can drive right after my appointment! I love that he can compare my scans to my previous years, as my prescription puts me at a higher risk of retinal issues. I would want to know right away if there was any changes! His office also has a great selection of cute frames for glasses, and he lets me know when new contact brands come out so that I can get the best comfort. His contact pricing actually beat the online retailers, which really impressed! Absolutely recommend! read more

This is the second experience I have had with Best in Sight (the first where I was the actual patient). My fiancée went here over a year ago when he was in need of an exam and a pair of glasses. They weren't upfront with him about the cost and out of pocket he was responsible for. Flash forward to today, I decided to give them a second chance as my contact prescription had expired, and I didn't feel like making an hour drive to my old eye doctor. I've worn contacts for over 10 years and have been in the same brand and type of contact for 5. They stuck me with a $37 fitting fee without telling me ahead of time. When I questioned this, the woman who was checking me out said this charge is a standard everywhere and that I would be charged this every single year. Well, in 10 years this was a first being charged for such a thing. But my issue is why would you not explain this cost before having me put on a trial pair of contacts? Instead of having Dr. Rich kindly ask "would you like to put on a pair if I have your prescription here since you've run out completely"... she should have said, "for me to let you order contacts here, I'm going to charge you $37 extra". Taking my business elsewhere and I suggest you do too. Be upfront about what is required BEFORE allowing a patient to do something. When I made the appointment and mentioned it was specifically to get an updated contact prescriptions, there should have been a heads up that, by the way, you co-pay does not cover everything for a contact visit. Pretty sure that is what is standard in any medical practice to ask if a patient understands the services required and the fees for those. No, this place doesn't mention anything until they are ringing you up, and by that point you've already completed the item they've charged you for. I had no choice. 2 stars because the lady who did all my test before the doctor came in was super friendly. Everyone else is clearly there to nickel and dime you once it's too late to say no. read more

i've been going to best in sight for sometime and their service was well above average. however, my most recent visit was less than stellar. they attempted to bill me for service two months after my visit, claiming they forgot. after i talked with the office manager, dave, he was belligerent and rude - i told him i was taking my business elsewhere. he said fine. he is a great example of who a business shouldn't hire. i am amending my first review as i received a call from one of the principal partners today. he went out of his way to make sure that i understood the initial issue and then went beyond good business practice to keep my family as a client. i will continue to use best in sight eye care and hope i do not have to interact with the office manager again. read more
