So, I'm no kayaking pro, more like a total rookie in the water scene. Being a total newbie, I began…read moreresearching places to rent kayaks. Most places operated on a first-come, first-serve basis, raising concerns about equipment availability on nice days. However, one of the best aspects of renting through REI is the option to reserve equipment for a specific timeslot, providing confidence that it'll be available upon arrival. Enatai's parking situation is generally sufficient, although it can be a bit scarce under the bridge during busier hours. However, with a bit of patience, a parking spot usually opens up. This is something to consider when planning your reservation timing. The staff at Enatai are incredibly sweet and ensure you have everything you need: a dry bag for your belongings, an oar, and a life vest. They assist in bringing the kayak to the water, give you a good push off, and then you're ready to embark on your kayaking adventure. But here's the real scoop on why THIS spot is the ultimate kayaking spot (at least among the REI choices--Meyenbauer is the other one). After cruising around the bay a few times, one of the staff spilled the beans. If you take a left and paddle under the highway bridge, there's this magical little river/creek thing. Lily pads, turtles, dragonflies, ducks, geese--you name it, we saw it. Total hidden gem! If you're thinking about trying out kayaking as a newb like me, you must try this spot!!!!! You will be hooked!

Super easy to book a reservation with them online, and they send you an online waiver to fill out prior to your boarding time, which is nice so you don't have to worry about filling out forms once you're at the park. They did a wonderful job enforcing that masks be worn at the check in/check out, and they took the time to make sure each paddle, life jacket, board was sanitized before the next person used it! They also always do a great job letting you know how the wind is blowing at the time, and which direction you should head towards so that the winds don't push you too far away before you have to paddle all the way back to the marina. Lastly, they always have groupon deals during the summer, making them a VERY affordable company to paddle board with!

Their staff are friendly and generally really young. If it's your first time, they are very helpful in giving you the rundown of paddleboard basics. I suggest going online to Groupon to find deals for paddle board rentals. Once you buy the Groupon, you can go online to their website to reserve the time you wanna go paddleboarding. You can also sign your waiver online or if you forget, you can sign it when you get there. They do a variety of rentals I believe (kayaks as well?) but they do single person paddle boards as well as a big giant one that can fit like a whole family on them!

We didn't even have to dock our boat, just get close enough for one of the staff members to hop on. The staff was awesome at walking us through the safety information and made sure that we got the most for our rental time. They were super friendly and ensure that you are prepared for a fun day on the water. A few things to mention, they did not have rentals for tubes or wakeboards, so if you want to do those activities you'd have to buy your own before hand. The shop also advises you to be 30 mins early for your reservation, and I would recommend doing so, as the safety demo will ebb into your rental time.

I called in advance and politely asked if my morning reservation could be moved to the late afternoon. The manager told me they were fully booked and couldn't accommodate the change. While on the phone, I checked their website and saw that all time slots were available. When I pointed this out, she still refused to help and insisted that I either use the jet ski or lose my money, regardless of the weather conditions. Since they couldn't assist me, I decided to go to the location to avoid losing my money. I completed all necessary safety paperwork, but my credit card was declined multiple times for the $2500 damage deposit. The manager said she couldn't rent the jet ski without this deposit and offered me a gift card for a future rental or the option to cancel without a refund. I eventually managed to get my card to work and paid the security deposit, which took about 30 minutes. By the time I went to see my jet ski, the weather had worsened with rain, wind, and distant lightning. I decided it was unsafe to go on the water and returned to the manager to request the gift card she had offered earlier. She then claimed she couldn't issue it due to their 7-day cancellation policy, despite having offered it just 10 minutes earlier when my card wasn't working for the deposit. She reiterated that they had no weather exceptions and that I had to use the jet ski or lose my money. I expressed my safety concerns and refused to go on the water. I noticed that all the jet skis were still available at that time. The staff, especially the managers, were very rude. Ultimately, I didn't use the rental, and my money was wasted due to their poor management and customer service.

At first we got there a little late due to traffic, but Osbourne greeted us nicely and helped unload the jetski into the water and such. After we met up with our group at the beach, our first group got on and that's where the incident happened. They got too excited and turned the engine on where it was too shallow, and to no surprise it caught rocks into the propeller of the jetski, which caused that jetski to be unusable. Because of that, we could only use one jetski, but Osbourne was kind enough to contact his company to send out another jetski so our group don't have to be waiting on only one, also there was no extra charge at that point(tho I don't think that could always be the case depending on the damage on the jetski each have caused). But all in all, I'll definitely recommend paying the extra cost for a facilitator, also highly recommend Ohana Kai Watersport for rentals. Aside from the incident, we all had a good time and very much enjoyed the experience. Thank you Osbourne and Ohana Kai Watersports :)
